I have been to this location Woodhouse spa at least 6-8 times since moving to NJ 6 years ago and i always have a great experience! 10 out of 10 would always recommend. Customer service: excellent, they are able to accomadate adds on to spa packages and are up front about costs for everything. You are able to make reservations online which i havent done because i always prefer to chat with a real person. Ive done the couples massage which was nice, its in a big room thats basically conjoined so you arent too far from your bf or gf. Services: ive done swedish massages, facials and nail salon service which are all super relaxing. I'm not a big facial person but the technician is gentle and does minimal extractions (worse part but its very short). Most of the masseuses have all been great and you can tell they have some consistency with training which makes for a good expeeience. The salon is relaxing, the regular nail polish job is decent and usually get it with a spa package. Other amenities: they usually recommend items that were used during your services, the nail oil is great and only $2 lasting for along time! The relaxation room is nice with tea and light snacks. Parking is usually validated if you bring your parking deck ticket. Areas of improvement: I went to a woodhouse spa in Bethesda, MD which offered food during your spa services and also complementart champagne. I thought that was such a nice tough! Since there are so many local restaurants in the area you could partner with that would be an additional stream of income. First time trying out the Woodspa-Montclair and had a good experience. Inside was clean and comfortable with spacious bathroom/changing rooms and even a full shower. They also had a quiet room where you can have tea and a few little snacks as well as spend some time there after your massage. We had a couples massage - husband had Julia and I had Shanyce. The experience was nice and relaxing and I liked that it was front first and then back. Shanyce was very professional, paid attention to areas of concerns and communicates instructions well. Husband and I agreed we both had a good experience but that next time we will most likely request for more pressure especially me for my "trouble areas". Checking in and out was seamless too and I appreciate they have homecare and treatment recommendations written on the cards they gave after checking out. read more

I came to Woodhouse Spa for a massage. Unfortunately, I found the massage to be way overpriced. I was a few minutes late because of parking, but when I arrived I was told it was fine and brought to the changing room, told to come out whenever I'm ready. That's why I was surprised that my 1 hour massage ended up lasting just under 45 minutes. At the end, they tried to sell me a bunch of products on top of the hefty massage price. I booked a 50 min massage for a friend of mine. I was so disappointed to hear the massage was cut short about 20 minutes. I was informed there is a ten minute grace period for each massage, although he was 13 minutes late due to parking it was really shocking that he was only massaged for 30 minutes. We have both been here many times but we will not be back. I initially booked a 50 min massage & he upgraded to the sports massage and it came up to almost $300. I really wanted to like this place because the location is convenient. I've tried it 3 times now and my conclusion is that I need to try out other spas in the area. The ambiance is nice and people at the desk are pleasant. They are responsive if you say something. The main issue is that the quality of service is so inconsistent that it's frustrating. It's not cheap either so if you get a bad experience, it's literally just throwing money away. I want a spa experience so that I can relieve stress. Not play the lottery on what kind of service I'm getting. The first time I went for a prenatal massage, I was literally oiled for 50 minutes. I asked for more pressure and...nothing. Just more oiling for $150 of service. I could have done that myself and I would have saved money. I mentioned this at the front desk and they gave me 20% off the next visit with someone they said had a firmer touch. I booked an 80 minute service for $190 and it was much better than the first. It was actually relaxing. Is 20% off this service really enough to compensate my first bad experience? Still mulling over that one. The next problem is then I also got a pedicure with their 50% off promotion. The nail polish application was subpar. There is polish on my skin and some sides of my nails are missing polish. The "massage" was also just heavy oiling. Is that worth the discounted $45 (from the original $90)? They don't give you a receipt when you check out either. They asked me how much I should tip and I said 25% (thinking it's 25% from the discounted $45)...nope. They ran it for 25% off $90. I didn't even realize this until I got the receipt by email some time after I left the place. They did provide a refund for the difference when I emailed back and I should have confirmed when I was checking out. Net net, I don't mind paying the price they are charging if the quality of service is consistent. But paying for the bad service (and wasting time) and averaging the cost with the good service is just not worth it for me. read more

I've been going to the Summit location for years and thought for a change of pace I'd try this one out. It's in the Siena building, so a totally different vibe from the Summit branch which is in an entire older former home on Springfield Ave. Check in was effortless, and the right questions were asked such as my requests for preferences of female masseuse, esthetician. I got a hot stone massage and an anti aging facial. Both were done professionally and were quite relaxing and addressed all of my concerns. Changing room is a bit small and the quiet room was crowded, with some people not wearing robes, and male/female together so if you are a bit nervous about walking around in a robe with strangers not wearing them (they were wearing their regular street clothes) be aware. The tea was a detox cinnamon which was really good (I forgot to ask the name of it). Check out was also smooth, front desk people were considerate and also my parking was validated in the municipal garage about a block away, which was a nice touch. All in all, an enjoyable two hours spent there. I would return. read more

I mentioned this at checkout and was told nothing could be done. Even a chain massage envy would try to accommodate better than this! 3. Ny is a true healer and exceeded my expectations and provided the most restorative deep tissue massage. I was more than happy to spend hundreds of my hard earned money for a massage but instead, I was denied my massage and wasted my whole my Saturday. I am a new customer and I made two appointments for 80 minute massages that were going to cost over $200 each. The day before my first appointment, Woodhouse sent me an intake form. As a respectful new customer looking forward to my massage, I completed the intake form promptly. On the form, I disclosed that I was pregnant. I arrived for my appointment, changed into my robe, and waited until the masseuse finally came to bring me to the massage room. The masseuse asked about any allergies or medical conditions and I told her I was pregnant even though I assumed she would have already known that since I disclosed this in the intake form. Well, she stated that she did not read the form, nor did anyone at the front desk. I was told I could not get a massage as Woodhouse will not provide massage services to anyone in their first trimester. So I had to get dressed and leave. Although, I was deeply disappointed and frustrated, I was very polite to all of the employees. On my way out, I canceled the second massage appointment I had already made for next week. If Woodhouse had actually reviewed my intake form that they require customers to complete, I imagine they would have contacted me prior to me rearranging my weekend plans and wasting my Saturday on this appointment for absolutely no reason. I grew up in a family who owns multiple businesses, including one in the wellness industry, and I will tell you that if we screwed up like this, we would undoubtedly offer a gift card or complimentary service in exchange for the inconvenience that we caused the customer. Woodhouse simply sent me (a polite, respectful new customer who had already booked two appointments) on my way. Moral of the story, the intake form is POINTLESS and Woodhouse has a ton of room to improve the customer service experience. read more

First, I will say that the massage service was great. No complaints there. But everything else about this spa was completely lacking. We'll start with the questionnaire you have to fill out before you arrive. I was asked what size robe I wanted, slippers, and what my favorite drink is. It appears these questions were just for entertainment purposes, since when we arrived, there was a robe shoved in every locker (not specifically placed there for my arrival), and no slippers set out. In fact, we had to dig through a basket of shoes to try to find a pair in our size. Of which there were none so we ended up having to wear slippers that were the wrong size. Besides a teeny bottle of water, no other beverage was offered. So why ask the questions? The "relaxation" room was no more relaxing than a doctor's office: straight-back dining room-style chairs. I did not feel relaxed waiting for my treatment in there. After my massage, the masseuse said she'd meet me outside the room - like every other massage I've ever had. Yet when I emerged, she was gone. I had to find my way back to the locker room. Then, I decided to shower. There's only one shower, so if someone else is in there, you'll be out of luck. But you won't miss out on much, since there were two completely empty squeeze bottles of random body wash in there (not Woodhouse branded), and no washcloths. So I didn't really shower - I just "rinsed." There was also a sign inside the shower about if you want eucalyptus steam you can purchase it at the front desk. Shouldn't this be advised before I'm in the shower, wet? Clearly too late to tell me this after I'm in there. When I got out of my rinse, there were no products - no lotion, no deodorant, nothing. There's also no bench in the locker room where you can put anything as you're dressing or getting your things out (or sit to wait to shower). So get your arms ready to tote everything out right away! I'm sure the spa will say "because Covid" to all these things but that's nothing but an excuse. Covid doesn't have anything to do with not having a bench, soap, washcloths, slippers, etc. I would not return here or recommend it. Try DePasquale in Morris Plains for a real spa experience! As a final note - I have it on good authority that other Woodhouse Spas are quite nice and attentive. So this one is just lacking. Which is a shame, because this location is certainly giving Woodhouse a bad name. read more

Quality of services is very inconsistent like other reviewers mentioned. I used to purchase package for 80 min massage (6 for the price of 5) before. The therapist was good, and he helped with my back issues. Unfortunately, he left this spa. Also, they increased price and in addition charge extra for Fri and Sat. I still wanted to treat myself for my birthday and scheduled an appointment. There were not many choices available at that specific day. Definitely, it was not 80 min massage, at least 10 min less, also during an actual session she was moving so slow around me, there were some pauses, I felt like she wanted to kill the time. I kept asking the therapist to put a little more pressure, she increased just a little bit and said that the appointment was for Swedish massage not for deep tissue. I know the difference between those two. It was not even close to Swedish. It was pretty rude to answer this way especially on my birthday, she knew this. I almost fell asleep as I did not feel anything. For the price they charge all services should be outstanding. I was disappointed, but did not want to mention anything to receptionist. However, it is worse to write a review for other people to be aware. Do your research before you go. This place is definitely overpriced for the services they provide. read more

I got a facial here and to say I am disappointed would be a vast understatement. I love getting facials, especially when it comes to the shoulder/arm massage. I could get a better facial from my four year old. There was maybe a 1 minute massage on my shoulder and arms - all she did was rub oil and that's it. Then she recommended products which I purchased thinking they would hydrate me as I'm 6 months pregnant - well, they did the opposite and caused my skin to break out, flake and itch. I've tried to return it and they told me to leave it there and someone will get back to me. Mind you, nobody has gotten back to me and they've ignored all my emails. Please don't go here. Afterwards, she used volcanic stone to massage on my lower legs and feet topped my nails with a glossy red polish. Then I relaxed in the Quiet Room & sipped some more warm tea. Got asked what drinks I prefer. Upon arrival, there is hot tea and lemon water. Thats it. I was handed a robe and pointed to a locker, then got handed plastic shoes from a bin. Despite specifying I prefer firm pressure and signing up for a deep tissue massage, the 50 minutes felt like I was being walked on by a kitten. Furthermore, the technician did not focus on the trouble areas, and I have no idea what massage style that was but I got the sense she had not been at this for a long time. I did a stone add-on, and regret it. I found the stones disruptive and they were pressed too hard into heat-sensitive areas (low back, bottoms of feet..) I jumped a few times. I received a massage gift certificate from here as a graduation gift. The best present thus far. I am no stranger to massages and after the last foolishness I had to experience at another location I won't name but if you read my reviews you will surely know where I am taking about, it was refreshing to come here. The statement "You get what you pay for" really applies. First, there is parking in a lot across the street that you can park at and it will be validated. That was comforting because I was worried about the meters on the street. When you walk into the building it smells amazing. Then you are politely greeted by ladies at the front desk. From there I was taken to what they call the quiet room. My masseuse Stephen came introduced himself and took me to a nice clean quiet room. To end all I can say is THE ABSOLUTE BEST 80 MINUTES. Seems like Stephen was in my head when he hit places that needed to be deeper and/or more attention. After the first 10-15 minutes and 1 pressure question I did not have to say another word. He knew exactly where all the knots and tight spots were. It felt so good I fell asleep a few times and was snoring. Finishing up there we're some good recommendations and suggestions. And when a request for a masseuse that had been vaccinated the answer was "we're not allowed to ask our employees is they have gotten a vaccine". My daughter and I got spa pedicures here 2 weeks ago. The spa is clean and decorated very nicely. The staff is friendly enough BUT the prices are ridiculous. Our pedicures cost $85 and we were expecting something really special and out of the ordinary. We were extremely disappointed. The pedicure was nothing special, in fact, my local nail salon gives a much better spa pedicure with so much rubbing and massaging for only $50. I was first introduced to Woodhouse Spa through Spa Week a few years back and have frequented this Day Spa ever since. I use to be somewhat of a regular so when I had to book a Couple's Massage this was the first place that came to mind! I had called to make the reservations a few weeks in advance and was able to book the Duet Room and upgraded to the Therapeutic Stone Massage. I was a little nervous based on the reviews on here but I never had a problem with bookings in the past so I went ahead and booked the massages. What I did not anticipate was the ridiculous snow storm the night before our appointment! I tried calling Woodhouse Spa but no one was answering so we decided to head out anyways. We got their about 10 minutes late so they were able to switch our appointment to 12pm instead. We killed some time and parked the car in the parking a lot across the street which they validate your parking for up to 4 hours. The massages were anything short of AMAZING. As we waited in the quiet room with our lemon waters, it really set the tone for the relaxing experience we were about to have. Once they took us to the room, it was complete bliss after. Shanyce did my massage and he had Jaclyn. The pressure was exactly how I liked it and we honestly wanted to do nothing after our massages. I have had 3 visits to the Woodhouse so far. I have had 2 Minkyti facials with Krysten & a deep tissue massage with Dwight. I am very happy with all of the services. The tasty apple spice tea in the quiet room is amazing & the staff is very nice & accommodating. I have already recommended the spa to many of my friends. Worth every penny! The only issue I had was that some of the lockers are really difficult to work the locks & they're really too small to hold a coat, handbag, shoes, etc. I'm looking forward to my next visit!! read more
