I paid cash for a 60-minute massage, and the masseuse kept touching and jiggling my butt and making comments about it. I came in for lower back pain and clearly told her to focus there. At the time, I brushed it off as harmless appreciation, but it clearly wasn't appropriate. I came back on 3/13 for a 90-minute massage and asked the masseuse for hot stones, same as my first massage. She left the room and never came back. I was left sitting there so long that I fell asleep. To my surprise, I was abruptly woken up by multiple staff members yelling at me because they were locking up, mocking me as I'm getting dressed, after they had forgotten about me. Completely unacceptable. I addressed my confusion at checkout, and they apologized, said they forgot because they were rushing, and told me to come back and they would take care of me I returned 3/15 with my partner. The owner immediately grabbed my hand and apologized, which made it seem like they were trying to fix things. But toward the end of my partner's massage, the masseuse asked him if he wanted a sexual act. This was after they saw us walk in together and paired with my experience just two days ago. At that point, it was beyond disturbing. I was then told to come back on Wednesday, March 18 for a refund. I drove all the way back out to Santa Monica, only for the owner to refuse it. The situation escalated, and he became aggressive and tried to swing at me, which I have on video. I had to call the police, and there is now an active investigation. This place is chaotic, unprofessional, and honestly feels unsafe. I gave them multiple chances and every single time it got worse. Do yourself a favor and stay far away. read more

The last 2 months I've been training harder than I ever have in my life probably (16 years and counting) and Nancy literally put me back together. This is the second time I have visited the Massage Garden. The first time was about 3-4 years ago. There are so many choices for this service in the area, but few specialize in foot massages and this place does a great job for just $40! Massage Garden is located at 2723 Main Street and the area has been transformed due to COVID-19 and all eating now outdoors. The place can use a paint job inside and is dark and a bit dingy, but the service was quite good and my therapist was effective in relieving some pain in my feet. Massage Garden offers full massage as well as facials, waxing and ear candling which is interesting if you never had that done before as it relieves the wax in your ear canals. The number is 310-392-9888 and you can usually just walk-in since I never made an appointment. I would recommend they paint and cleanup the interior a bit with new fixtures and carpeting, but the service itself was very good and I would go back. Recommend. read more

As I went to pay at the entrance, it seemed like the main man in charge, who was the only one who spoke English, approached me. I took out money to pay for the service, and at that moment, the masseuse came over, apparently showing the amount of tip I left. In front of everyone, the man said, "You left too little tip, pay more." I felt embarrassed and pressured by the situation and added more tip. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. They extort tips. I came here for a foot massage. Normally I go to the Olympic Korean Spa which is amazing and thought I would try this place again. I am local to Santa Monica and like to give back to community. The front desk gentlemen ended up doing my massage and I question if he is even licensed that's how bad it was. The pressure was terrible, he never checked in, and he was massaging my angle bones. This might have been the worst massage experience ever. First of all there's a really weird and terrible smell in there. It wouldn't hurt to use some aromatherapy to hide the smell. I'm not sure if it's feet or mold or smelly shoes. But it was terrible. I almost got up half way through the massage and cancelled. Second, and this is the most disgusting part. I was pleased with my massage. I had the $30 foot reflexology which also includes some body work. It wasn't perfect, but honestly it was much better than a lot of massages I received at Burke Williams. I actually feel asleep for a little while I got so relaxed. And my feet feel awesome now! I am big fan of Asian style massage, but also know they can be strong, so always speak up if I feel it's too deep. Jenny was my therapist. She had natural hands and they just felt good. The only drawbacks were: I had to ask for the music to be played. Which once it was put on made the entire room more relaxing. Also, when other patrons entered the facility, my therapist had to get up and go get someone. They seem to be lacking in staff. But that's also probably how they keep their overhead low. The nice thing Jenny did however was extend my time about 10 minutes. She didn't say anything about it, but I know she did it to make up for the fact she had to leave me about twice. I though that was very conscientious of her. Overall, this place seems like a pretty good deal. For $30 you can get an hour of attention verses the 30 minutes you'd get at a busy nail salon doing foot massage on Main Street. It pretty bare bones, but it's also inexpensive. We get most of our treatments are in the main lobby room area--which is very basic and just inside the front door and...which I actually prefer to the rooms. (Though you can get a private room.) I think the main room reminds me of the foot massage places in Thailand in bustling storefronts or at night markets where chatter and people walking around are part of the vibe. Reasonably priced, they took us immediately, very thorough and worked on tension areas requested. My boyfriend and I got the 1 hour full body and 30 min foot massage for 60$ you can't beat that. It is a traditional massage place but was very clean and the women were attentive and sweet. I could feel my lady Jenny working through all of the patches I had built up with tension knots and she'd go over that area until it felt soft again. I will definitely be returning to this massage place. I got a combo full body massage and 20 minute foot massage and I believe it was about $45 - a real bargain! Again, this place isn't for relaxing extras like nice smelling oils or tranquil music. And the masseuse didn't bother asking me where I wanted her to focus her energy... instead she just laid right into me, giving me a super hard (almost too hard) massage that I wouldn't call relaxing but definitely did the trick in terms of easing my tense muscles. I even had some small bruises afterward which I know a lot of people would consider to be a sign of a bad massage, but honestly it was just what I needed! Went here for the 2nd time and I will not be back. I have nothing against strong pressure, but would appreciate it if there is some conscientiousness to accompany it. Had the 60 minute $30 head, foot, and bodywork massage. The head and foot part was generally more painful than pleasurable, but when you are flipped over on your stomach, watch out. I was brutalized by an elbow to the point of pain, and my face didn't quite fit in the round cutout hole. This resulted in my throat, larynx, voice box etc, being slammed against the rim to the point that the next day, sitting at home writing this, my throat is still aching and I'm reading about throat trauma on the web. I have been frequenting Massage Garden a couple of times a month since they opened over a year ago. I work in a restaurant and am on my feet all day. After a foot (or full body) massage I feel as if I am reborn. The best thing to compare it to is pressing the restart button on your body. Anna and Fred, the owners, are gracious, welcoming, and accommodating people. I don't even request a certain masseuse (unless I need the deepest and strongest massage possible and that is Jason) because all of them are do an incredibly great job every time. I couldn't recommend anyplace more than I do Massage Garden, if you are looking for an affordable and amazing deep massage. This is my first review on Yelp and the first place I have deemed worthy of the utmost recommendation. I love foot rubs and noticed the Massage Garden sign for reflexology on their door. When we first arrived Fred, the owner, asked us to come back in 15 minutes since they were booked up. I had the 60 minute foot rub reflexology with 20 minutes of body work for $30. My husband had he 60 minute deep tissue massage for $45. I was in the main open room which meant no privacy. But that's okay since I normally get a foot rub at my mani/pedi shop (TiTi nails). Mario was my reflexologist and he was great! He used medium to hard pressure throughout my hour long massage. Massage Garden is THE BEST foot massage place I've ever been to. I like foot massage places because they are the only way I can afford to have a regular massage. I have been to many such places, and I can say without hesitation that Massage Garden is the best I have visited. For just $30 you get an amazing full body massage. That's a really good deal considering their location on Main St. in Santa Monica. The people here are nice (they don't speak much English though), and the place is clean and comfortable. I love the fully reclining chairs that they massage you in! I've been here twice now. I've had Annie and Cindy, and both were fantastic. They give a great deep massage with just the right pressure in my opinion. Unlike other foot massage places I've been to (where the masseuses just go through the motions), these ladies take care and really seem to know what they're doing. Unfortunately me and my boyfriend had a terrible experience here. For a long time, we have been looking for a great foot massage place on the west-side. When we found Massage Garden on yelp, we were ecstatic, especially since it's less than a mile away from us. On a Friday night, we called in to make appointment. We asked about prices and a good time. When we got in, the prices were different from what we had discussed on the phone. I believe they just wanted us to come in at a cost of lying about their prices. We were about to walk away, until a woman who was giving a massage to another costumer on a lazy chair started to "sell" us their service in a loud voice. That was my first turn off. I asked her to at least please whisper for the sake of the person trying to relax during the massage (who kept angrily looking up), but she kept going. Finally we (mostly out of peer pressure) gave in. First, towels were worn out and not soft, which is usually the number one sign. I told the masseuse to please not to be too aggressive. However, several times during the massage I asked her to please use less pressure. Her response was to laugh and say "too much?". Also, I've never had a masseuse with long nails before, so not only I was in pain, but I was getting scratched as well. Finally she asked me to turn around on the chair, which I did, and unfortunately she was so aggressive, that I felt like I was about to choke. I terminated the massage. Terrible news is that compared to my boyfriend, I had a mild experience. He was already sitting up and waiting for me, since the woman who was giving him a massage was severely sick and kept coughing on top of him. He also felt like she was choking him once he turned around on the chair (might be the chair design). When we went to pay, the woman who took our payment was the sick masseuse, whose forehead was covered in cold sweats and looked like she was about to pass out between each cough. That was a serious public health issue in my opinion. We still paid in full with tip, given the fact that we had terminated our massage earlier than 60 minutes. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. Also note, the place is located on a very busy part of Main street, and no measures have been taken in terms of eliminating the noise. Every time a costumer is in and out of the door, which slams loudly by the way, you can hear the crowd outside. In conclusion, I hate to give a bad review to a small business, and I think I would have marked this as just a bad experience and moved on. But, a severely sick masseuse, terrible massage environment, and unprofessional staff, made me feel responsible for warning others. It means Asian kind, massage for 45$ an hour where you lie on a massage table which is covered with a paper, nobody changes pillow cases etc. You see the price, don't expect Four Seasons service there. But masseuses are not that bad, especially couple of them. If it's an hour- that's an hour, not 50 minutes. If you want them to focus on some special area- like your back or legs, they will do that. They are trying. The guy that owns the place picks his nose and constantly snorts like he has a bad cold.. Ive been going for a few months now and he does it all the time. It is NOT conducive to a clean and relaxing atmosphere. Not only that.. but they also have a frequent visitor program where you get a free massage after x visits... and they never told me about it.
