I am winding my way through all the Southern CA Burke Williams Day Spas as I am commited to the ULTRAfusion facial for six treatments and the Santa Monica location was my third BW place to roadtest the newest facial/ At 71, I am willing to spend on an advanced facial treatment as I have wasted plenty of money on partially used potions and wish to be more strategic in my anti-aging investment. The Santa Monica location has a soft spot in my life as this location was my first Burke Williams experience and I have returned many times, always pleased with the service and kindness of the staff. The initial greeting is warm and professional and I appreciated the tour as I had forgotten where the ladies area is located. The ULTRAfusion facial is heaven and my complexion has never looked better! Every esthetician has been very consistent and I can expect the same protocol at each location and I can't pick a favorite...either spot or person providing the service. I had the pleasure of meeting the manager who took the time to talk for a moment. He must be really busy but I didn't feel rushed. The spa area has charming amenities and I like showering before a treatment and taking advantage of all the goodies in ample supply: mouthwash, cleansers, lotions, etc. Don't forget about the delish tea in the waiting area. Every area was very clean and supplies such as towels were freshened up and always in ample supply. The staff could not be more kind and helpful. This review is long overdue. I have been coming to Burke Williams Santa Monica for years and they continue to do an excellent job every time. We often come in to get gifts for our church for Mother's Day and Father's Day, and they are always so kind and helpful with that. They give us different options so we can be a blessing to people, and they really understand what it means to help someone give a meaningful gift. The spa services themselves are always very good. The atmosphere is relaxing and everyone I interact with is kind and professional. I have spoken with Monica many times and she has always taken great care of us. On my last visit on a Saturday, they even remembered me, which says a lot about how they pay attention to their guests. Customer service at this location is extremely good. I love sharing beautiful experiences especially the one I have today, I'm a new mom and for a long time I didn't get the chance to pamper myself especially because all of my time is for the baby and my business and today me and my husband went to get a massage and a facial, from the moment we entered we felt very welcome everyone was smiling and welcoming, they took me to the locker room that was very neat and tidy and changed into a robe and then my esthetician Marissa was waiting for me outside, she took me to the treatment room and treated me like a queen, I haven't had a facial like that in a long time, she was the most professional and sweet and she recommended products that I should use for my poor dry skin , I left the treatment room feeling very refreshed and loved, I felt like Marissa wasn't only giving me a facial she was being very caring and loving and I can tell that she really love her job and love being part of Burke Williams and she respects her customers, the front desk employees and general manager were the sweetest, I left crying first of all because I'm a cryer and second because I haven't felt this good in a long time and thanks to all of the employees no exceptions from the person who guided me to the locker room to the person who checked us out, I thought it was going to be a one time experience but I ended up asking my husband to get me a membership, and he said that he really loved the massage and the therapist I think her name is Erin was very professional and she gave him THE BEST MASSAGE EVER , thank you for making my relaxation experience memorable read more

I had a gift card to use so I decided to treat myself to a spa day at Burke Williams. I've been to the Pasadena and Hollywood location previously, so I wanted to see which one was the biggest and/or nicest location, which landed me to this Santa Monica location. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. They even found out my birthday was coming up and added a complimentary add-on to my treatment, hot stones to my massage. I had the 80-minute massage, and my masseus Urijah was amazing! Hands down one of the best massages I've ever had. The facilities were decent. They had two whirlpools, one of which was in a quiet zone, which was also where the cold spritz room was. It was small, and tucked away in a corner, almost like an afterthought. This was disappointing as I usually spent a lot of time in the cold spritz room, and wished this could have been a bit more spacious. The spa also has a quiet room and two outdoor areas including a balcony over looking the street and a separated male/female solarium. They also had hot tea, water, lemonade and some banana and apples around for you to snack on and hydrate yourself with. Overall, I loved my experience! read more

Popper into this location as I Have recently had business in the area. I scheduled a Luxe Pedicure and arrived an hour or so before my appointment so I could enjoy the amenities . Upon walking into the spa I was welcomed by the front desk staff who got me checked in . Upon entering the actual spa , I was helped by an attendant named Patty , who went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable during my visit. I'm a plus size woman and she discreetky mentioned the robe being a medium and brought me a larger one , without asking And gave me a quick walk through of the spa and explained a few things to me. Her welcoming demeanor and care within the first 5 minutes of me entering the spa really helped set the tone for my visit. My pedicure , which was a dry pedicure , was with Gina and the care a precision put into the service was just above and beyond my expectations , I really enjoyed it and have gotten quite a few compliments in my pedicure. I requested a specific person/therapist and was not given that person. I told even though I listed their name that I needed to select therapist only. Why would you give the option to choose someone by name, get confirmation and be assigned to someone else?!?!? That was not made clear & if they needed to change the person that I requested, it would have been helpul to get a heads up so that I can choose either a different location or to not come at all. While my therapist was very friendly, you can tell that she was either new to the field or just did not know what she was doing. I left in more pain than when i arrived. I booked a 50-minute deep tissue massage for both myself and my husband, specifically because I had knots in my back that I communicated to my therapist. Unfortunately, what I received was essentially a Swedish massage with very light pressure and only arm strokes, not the deep tissue work I requested and paid for. This was extremely disappointing, especially since this isn't my first negative experience here. After a long day working as a nurse, I was really looking forward to proper relief, not just being lightly rubbed with lotion. Positive aspects: Manager is extremely lovely and professional as well as the person inside the spa (H). Amenities are clean, well maintained and rooms are quiet and zen. However here is the main problem: People go there to relax, to get away from their daily stress and life. The two ladies at the front desk are agressive, stressed out, not smiley... You get there and you are welcomed by agressivity, not even a smile... for the price you are paying I would expect a little smile and less negative energy. This was the worst massage I have ever had. The masseuse was dragging her feet, constantly covering me with a towel, taking a long time to put cream in her hands, not putting any pressure on the body, saving energy, moving her hands very slowly. I asked her to press harder and do it faster, but she continued the same thing. I paid $340.00 for my wife and myself and I think I wasted my money because I didn't feel any pleasure. My wife was also unhappy. She was served by a small masseuse who had absolutely no strength. She barely touched the body with no pressureat all . Ethan will custom-tailor any facial and provide expert recommendations to ensure great immediate and long-term results. Massage: Akiko is an expert massage therapist who is very strong and effective - don't judge her by her size! Akiko is also highly skilled at assessing which areas need more attention. Akiko is the best massage therapist available at this location, especially if you are interested in a firm or deep-tissue massage. Kenny is an incredible healer (massage therapist). I always book deep tissue with him. The membership is quite a deal for the quality when you find a therapist you like. I've had 25 years worth of massages in my life and have high standards; in LA it is surprisingly hard to find keepers. I tip based on the original pricing vs the discounted price, I like to be in proper exchange with my people. Pro tip: arrive at least an hour before to get in the steam room so your muscles are more open, it allows your therapist to go deeper. Grateful for this space! read more

My wife and I are members of this spa and go in every month for a relaxing full body massage. The facilities are really good, we enjoy using the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and showers. I have been a Burke member since 2022, and I have steadily watched the price go up and the service quality go down. However, this time a line has seriously been crossed. I booked a visit for my elderly relative this evening. The staff at Burke (1) told her the incorrect time for her message (saying it was at 5:30 and not 7:00) and (2) left her sitting in the waiting room for 1.5 hours without checking on her. She didn't want to miss the appointment and was confused because the staff told her to wait there till the apt and not to leave. She didn't go to any of the other amenities to pass the time but rather sat unattended for 1.5 hours. It is unbelievable that no one bothered to check on her for 1.5 hours. She was exhausted just sitting there, and didn't feel up to having the massage when they finally realized they forgot her. I wouldn't either if that had done that to me! Instead of the apology she deserved, they literally just gave her a day pass (you know those coupons you can't use on the weekends!) and sent her on her way. I felt AWFUL when she got back, and she was embarrassed about the entire thing. How could you not have the common human decency to check on someone you know has been sitting there? If you had bothered to correct yourselves and give her the right time (or even checked on her after the 5:30 or 6:00 massage times had passed), she could have had a nice relaxing time and not felt uncomfortable and pressured by your staff. I called the Burke support number and the regional operator, Abba, was incredibly crass about the whole thing - going as far as lying and saying the appointment was actually canceled. I know it wasn't canceled because I booked it. I would have been notified. He then said "oh that's so weird" without a single apology or sense of ownership. He either could not get ahold of the Santa Monica location or didn't bother to, but said "he'd put a note to be in touch" and hung up without saying anything more - even a goodbye. A Burke membership is expensive, and the experience that happened tonight was downright disgusting. I've come here every month for 3 years, but now I have no desire to ever step foot in here again. Staff nice, manager Rita very customer services oriented and professional!! Therapies are all hit or miss depending who you end up with. But generally most are all good. The two thing I would recommend is for this facility to incorporate some actual real plants and flower! since everything in this place is all fake plants. And secondly. They need to do some upgrading on their quiet room. Chairs are horrific and very uncomfortable and pretty much seems your in a depressing walking closet. Love this space and how relaxing it is. They serve lemongrass tea and have the best amenities. Their hair products are so good. They used to sell them as part of their line but stopped unfortunately. You can add on a milk bath and highly recommend it. It's about 20 mins. If you buy during any holiday, there are discounts with gift cards so you can actually purchase a gift card prior to coming. I recommend checking that out if you can and planning ahead of the visit. The only downside is the ladies definitely charged my group twice for tip. Half our party left and tipped for the group and they told the remaining party tip wasn't paid. read more

Made an appointment for a 50 minute Relaxation Massage­ at Burke Williams Day Spa in Santa Monica about a month or so ago and was really pleased with the entire experience. Coincidentally, I have probably walked past this location at least two dozen times on my way to REI but never noticed the small sign for Burke Williams. Alas, my day finally came and I found the entrance and took the elevator up to the spa. Almost instantaneously I felt like I was teleported to a relaxing land, far, far away from the madness of Los Angeles. I absolutely loved the relaxing aroma throughout the entire spa. I noticed it right away when the elevator door opened and it was still present as I walked into the reception area and changing area. I didn't have too much time to enjoy the amenities prior to my appointment but that was no problem, I made sure to stay after to check things out. I enjoyed the waiting area and was called back promptly. Unfortunately, I do not recall who my masseuse was but she provided adequate pressure for a relaxation massage and I did opt for the Aromatherapy UNWIND Upgrade which was so soothing. I was excited she gave me the extra lotion to take home. Now, the amenities - there are a couple of hot tubs, one for talking/socializing and one that is quiet only. There's also a steam room near the quiet tub. There are no cell phones throughout the spa, with the exception of a newly renovated area that is actually outside (complete with fireplace - I like it!). My favorite room (of course) was the relaxation room. I cozied up with my book and nearly fell asleep, the chairs were so comfortable! When I finally decided to leave, I was told all about the monthly membership program but opted not to join. I think it would pay for itself quickly but it wasn't something I could commit to as I travel often and could be out of town for 4+ weeks at a time. I will say that yes, I've been fortunate enough to experience way better spas and way better amenities at different spas for the around the same price. However, overall, I was impressed by Burke Williams Santa Monica and look forward to returning in addition to checking out other locations. The experience/spa exceeded my expectations. read more

In a way,3 stars is not totally fair: I received a gift certificate for my birthday and was so excited to go. The person who made my reservation was wonderful and went out of her way to suggest the best service and technician. When I checked in, the reception was lovely, they verified my GC ( that included a tip) and all was good. Nice facility, excellent massage tech, all good. Then the checkout- could not have been more unpleasant. She basically accused me of not having any GC, not having paid and no tip. Said she needed the gift givers' credit card number to prove I had been given one, said her computer showed nothing, made me wait to find a manager and only when I showed my email from the gift giver did they finally allow me to leave. This was totally different than my experience booking and attending and it was not only not ok, I would have some really hesitation about returning or purchasing a gift certificate for anyone else. My children and husband gave me a gift certificate to this spa for Mother's Day, I think. It burned in a wildfire last Tuesday and we are currently displaced. I woke up this morning and my entire body is stiff. Called and asked if they could locate the gift certificate so that I could go in. No, they cannot. Can I find the original charge from my husband's credit card and use that to replace the gift certificate? No, they cannot do that either. Hold on to your pieces of papers, ladies and gentlemen. A brief tour was offered (the SM location is huge!), and I then changed into a cozy robe and made myself comfortable waiting to be called for my treatments. Ibarra took me in for my massage, and I had a bonus salt scrub add on for my feet and back. Loved it! Everything was perfect - the citrus scent, warm sheets and just the right pressure. My husband and I walked into this location on a rainy Saturday afternoon to enjoy a walk in spa pass day. After looking at us, we were told by Isaac (the manager on duty) that as of last week walk ins were no longer welcome. He said turning us away was not racially motivated, but the way we were treated was so disheartening and disappointing. "I'm not trying to be a dick" Isaac said before adding that there were no services available for the day and we could attempt to make an advanced reservation on Monday. My husband offered to pay for a service just to enter since we had planned our entire day around enjoying the spa including securing childcare for our newborn. Another employee, Fadi, indicated a 1:30p spa massage was available as we were at the front counter at 1:34p. He then indicated the service would only be available for one of us instead of both. Both Isaac and Fadi repeatedly referred to my husband as "bro" when they have absolutely no familial connection with him and had never met. I remain perplexed as to why that language was used. The manager Mike came to speak with us after my husband insisted because staff reported he didn't need to be bothered with us. Mike reported the policy on walk ins was accurate for several months but begrudgingly let us enter. I have NEVER in my 10+ years of coming to this establishment been made to feel so unwelcome and unappreciated as a customer. I have enjoyed this location specially due to wonderful customer service. I continued to patronize the location despite aging facilities, increasing safety concerns caused by the growing homelessness crisis of the area and discontinued amenities such as secure onsite parking, and having to bring my own items from home because of the lack of hair care products or tools for curly hair textures. Today, I was truly embarrassed and near tears. I can't recall a time ever being treated this way at any establishment. I have been truly disappointed at the lack of customer service I experienced. In nearly 40 years on earth, I have never been anywhere from a fast food chain to a 5 star resort and heard an employee use the word "dick" while at work and speaking with a customer. I arrived on site for the walk in service expecting the same top tier experience I have always had and what I experienced instead was truly baffling especially considering that I just interacted with an employee from your social media team just the prior month to comment on what a great service the spa offers. read more
