This was without a question the best veggie pizza I ever had. The mix of veggies combined with the pesto sauce was incredible. The Greek salad was pretty average. The fruit cup was a lil laughable though. It was a cup of plain canned peaches. I think that if you say fruits it should include more than one. Also if you are serving a very sugary canned fruit you should inform that as well, since people that order fruits might be looking for a healthy alternative and not a canned fruit. So here's what I think is awkward. Watched a cook grab something from behind the bar, and proceed to cook food, as slowly as humanly possible, drink in hand. For a place that makes all their employees wear masks, it's interesting that the person cooking your food (in full view with an open kitchen) had no mask on the whole time we were there. Also, nasty nasty bathrooms. The doors under the sink were wide open and MAN do i regret seeing under them. Nasty and slimy. Makes me feel so confident the food won't make me sick haha The actual food (which we waited over a half hour for) was alright but when we mentioned to the server that we felt a few pizza's took too long and we had mentioned already we were starving, she argued with us and told us we were wrong amd don't know anything about pizza ovens. This place was not our first choice of places to eat in Blue Ridge, but so glad we stopped in and had a meal at the bar. It's hard for the restaurant industry to find people to work right now, so there are a lot of disclaimers/notices asking patrons to be understanding. We sat at the bar and our service did not miss a beat. Our bartender was quick to get drinks, our orders and the delivery of food was also speedy, which was a good thing as a had a pretty "hangry" husband. We came in for lunch today and everyone ordered something different. The Greek salad, baked ziti and veggie pizza with marinara and pepperoni was good. The pizza was cooked well and had lots of toppings! They sat us quickly and took everyone's order. Our server was super nice as well. The only downfall was my nieces food coming out after everyone else's and her chicken nuggets being OVERLY COOKED. She noticed once she dropped them off that she would need to put in a new order. My husband and I decided to have dinner as t the Masseria for Valentines Day. We ate here about two years ago and it was fabulous! Not so much on this visit. We ordered the bruschetta and a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. The bruschetta came out first, traditionally this dish is served on a plate, this came out in a metal 6 x 10 x 4" deep bread pan (or that's what it looked like), when we dug it out the bread was very raw, and there was at least a pound of tomatoes on top of very little bread, flavor was non-existent , we could not eat it so we sent it away. The pizza had no sauce, and no flavor. Another tacky thing, while we were finishing our experience the owner was sitting at a table in the main dining area with his laptop and paperwork spread out, assuming doing his books, very awkward. Not sure what has happened to this restaurant but we would probably not return based on tonight's dinner. read more

The food and staff are great. I felt bad for the staff, only two wait staff this evening, not counting the bartender. We did have to wait just a bit but didn't mind, the food was good. We are visiting Blue Ridge throughout the week( currently a Tuesday) and were surprised to find that most eateries are not open for lunch. However, Masseria was open so we decided to give them a try. We are super happy with our decision! I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Our food was spectacular( the bruschetta, Brussel sprouts, rigatoni with pesto, margarita pizza,etc) and our server Ashley was amazing. 5 stars for the food: 3 stars for the staff. Our server was great but they really need to work on giving accurate wait times. We had the Bianco pizza and it was very fresh and you could taste the homemade sausage. Their spaghetti and meatballs were wonderful too!!! Disappointed on the overall experience. We went for lunch this past Saturday. We sat outside in a covered canopy area. Pros: hostess was prompt in seating us, friendly staff and short wait for seating. Good location. Cons: Food appeared like reheated food and some dishes were barely warm. My chicken sandwich spent too much time being cooked the first time that the outside breading was dark dark brown then smothered with sauce and cheese. Salad was soggy. Kids said the best part of their meal were the potato chips. Husband thought the meatball sub was ok, nothing to write home about. Overall restaurant needs a deep clean inside and out including the bathrooms. Our food was served by not our waitress but by other staff members. When we were ready to leave I couldn't find our waitress and flagged another waiter for help. The manager brought us our check. Our family has been coming to this restaurant for over five years and have seen the service decline rapidly. The pizza is "okay", the pasta you can certainly skip over, and the salads are definitely nothing special. Since you pay when you order, the kitchen takes their sweet time and the table service is practically nonexistent. Need a water refill? Forget it. Not to mention, the young strawberry-blonde haired hostess (wearing a yellow shirt) was disgustingly rude to my mother and father when they placed a large order. (Please learn to respect your elders.. actually, people in general, especially if you choose to work in the service industry) She rolled her eyes and threw an attitude, as if it was suuuuch a pain to have a take out order. The man that took my order on the phone was very nice and friendly. Come to find out he was also working at the front of the restaurant. He was very accommodating. Our pizza was done in 30 minutes which is fast considering they were the only pizza place open on Sunday. Pizzas only come in a 12" which is my only complaint but that is part of their operating model which I understand. The pizza tasted really good and the 8 people in my party enjoyed it. I visited Masseria during my trip to Georgia and, unfortunately, I was disappointed immensely. To begin, the restaurant was dirty and dusty. Unlike the pretty photos online, the restaurant seemed run down. The storefront is gorgeous and they have a nice brick oven, though. The food was so-so, but expensive. I loved my pasta dish with homemade pasta and vegetables. However, it was a small portion. Everyone else in my party of 6 had a problem with their dish. The ones who ordered the clam sauce said that there was very little sauce. The two who ordered the chicken parmesan both said that the chicken was dry. There were quite a few service issues as well, unfortunately. We did not have a specific server who was helping us, making it all over the place. After not being tended to for twenty minutes, we had to wave over a bus boy to help us get drink refills. Even then, he was very inattentive and had earphones in. The worst part of the entire experience was the fact that one of our meals came out thirty minutes before all of the others. We were told that some dishes may come out before others, which we stated was okay. However, by the time everyone else got their meals, the one who ordered the baked ziti had already finished, making it quite awkward. Overall, the service and ambiance at Masseria need help. If this was fixed, I would be more than happy to return to try the meals again. Additionally, if the restaurant lived up to the photos online, the cost would be worth it. read more

We got cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, pig in the blanket (expensive hot dog in a bun), and a salmon sandwich. All were pretty good. Pizza crust had a nice crisp to it. Delish. Strawberry lemonade (made with vodka) was good too, but didn't have much alcohol cuz I didn't get a buzz at all. Outdoor seating is nice (good view of train --if you're into that). read more

We went in for an early dinner and had to wait over an hour for our food after ordering, it seemed slow even if you accounted for it being understaffed. My family and I were looking for a spot to eat after an afternoon of walking the shops of Blue Ridge. We found this gem amongst a few high end restaurants, and our wallets and bellies were happy we did. It's not much to look at on the inside, as you're met with the bar as you enter, it's a bit dark, but then the smell and sounds of good food being cooked makes you forget about the aesthetics, or lack there of. Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. We ordered the combination app of train-side tater chips and blue ridge brussel sprouts. They are both served with dips, red onion for the chips, and a sweet pepper aioli for the sprouts. I didn't care for the dips so much, but they were not needed as both the chips and sprouts were delicious on their own. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a supreme pizza. I don't typically eat the crust but I made the exception this time. The crust is thin with the perfect ratio of crispy edges and a softer but firm texture towards the middle. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. Two pizzas fed this family of four grown people with one slice left over that we just could not find room for. I asked for more and once it was covered in Caesar, it was SO good. The bread is also flavorful. The Caesar didn't come with croutons which I didn't appreciate. The spaghetti sauce was very watery. After no other restaurant was open on a Monday, we decided to eat here. I really wanted to like this place but they hardly even deserve two stars. Although the service and our server was amazing, the food was something out of a bad cafeteria. Italian? Lol I'm Italian and this place lacks the flavor and the food was bland. There are herb gardens outside the restaurant and I assume they are just for looks because the food was soooooo plain. We ordered the hummus and meatball plate as an appetizer and the only impressive thing was the display. The pepperoni pizza tasted like the child hood Chuck E. Cheese pizza. So greasy and thin. This is so hard to write because the food and beverages were absolutely amazing, but... here goes: The air conditioner is clearly broken as it's never been this hot in here. They are incredibly short-staffed (one waitress). She was very attentive and kind - we loved her. But, there are clearly issues with the owner that need to be rectified. Instead of ensuring the environment is appropriate and the guests are happy - I noticed him breaking down boxes and cleaning glasses. A must whistle stop trackside in Blue Ridge. This is new to us as we've not been up here in a few years. What a great homecoming present. Masseria is on the trackside from Main Street with a cozy dining area, great bar, spot-on beer selection and wood-fire pizza you won't stop eating. We got the mushroom and spinach pizza and a homemade sausage and mushroom pizza. Incredible crust. Great toppings. Never had better mushrooms on a pizza. Great service. Great for lunch or dinner.
