The tacky dealer stickers they put in the back of your purchased car (aka dealership tramp stamps) are extremely hard to remove without damaging the clear coat. It's as if they're superglued onto it. If I'm your customer, and I'm buying a car from you, my car isn't your billboard to advertise on. Putting a license plate bracket with your dealership logo is ok, but putting something on almost permanent such as this only shows how trashy your dealership is. Reputable dealerships do not put anything more than a license plate frame with their logo on it. read more

Do not get service here, and I wouldn't buy a vehicle from them if this is how they do business. Completely unethical and dishonest. Quoted $635 for gasket replacement and $388 for spark plugs. Spark plug labor is 100% already completed by the gasket...double dipping on labor. Had to call and "haggle" and they only lowered the spark plugs to $250...which is still ridiculous. Told me the spark plugs ($10 each) were $40 each. Completely unethical markup. Agreed out of frustration. They didn't have it completed same day like it was supposed to be and didn't even tell me, until I called to ask if it would be ready. They said they would take $50 off the $1300 (WOW!) BUT they added a BS "hazardous waste disposal" of $50.43 that was not on the quote...so not only did they not take $50 off, they charged me 43 cents more. read more

Don't purchase a Hyundai these guys admit to a paint defect and refuse to cover the full issue . They want to spot repair rather than take responsibility and paint the whole vehicle . I bought all my cars for this dealership and they didn't even bother offering me loaner. I belong in a group of over 9k people with this issue I was contacted by the customer service representee where they try and make it seem like they care. I bought a brand new Elantra back in June 2024. The buying process was great and the car was fantastic. However, in March 2025, I began having issues with the vehicle. The service department ended up replacing the transmission. However, several other components immediately failed once i got my vehicle back (this included the vehicle's battery). The car ended up staying in service for over 3 months under warranty. The service advisor that was assigned to me was polite and respectful during the entire warranty process. The dealership handled this part fantastically. However, I noticed when I got my vehicle back that there was damage to the drivers side door and b-pillar. It appears that when the vehicle was locked and dead, someone had tried breaking into the vehicle and did so successfully. Because nothing of value was taken, I believe the dealership caused this damage because they did not have the proper keys to get into the vehicle when the battery was dead. I told the service manager about the situation, and he was quick to dismiss it. I sent multiple emails to the owner and service manager. The owner never responded and the service manager took weeks to respond, and would refuse to send any camera footage of the incident. The service manager then proceeded to blame me for the damage, saying that I caused it. I have proof that the damage was not there when the vehicle arrived to the dealership. The sales department is fine, but DO NOT take your vehicle to the service department if you do not want it to be damaged. If your vehicle does get damaged, they will lie and push the blame onto you, and refuse to work with you. The response they gave me to this review that I also posted on google told me to call a phone number. I called this phone number and it takes me to the main Massey phone number which then directed me to the service manager. It is clear that Massey is avoiding giving me any real help. Totally disappointed and pissed!! Drove up from WV to get my car service. I scheduled it online to get the 32,000 miles service which was listed for 299.95. I called and asked if the cost of the free services would be deducted since it still under the 3 yrs/36000. The service rep said yes. Get here he says the 32,000 is 360 ish and said if they deducted the free services it would be about 30 less.First off the oil change itself is listed at 85 ish. Then they call me back and say I only get 4 services..this was never mentioned before..its 3yrs/36,000 miles!! False advertising and the worst customer service not the guy who intakes my car but Hyundai in general..you have lost a lifelong Hyundai owner. I would highly suggest doing your research before coming here to buy a vehicle. First know your cars worth. If you are trying to trade your car, they will not give you what it's worth. They are always below KBB. If you are still interested in buying here, try selling your vehicle yourself first. You will more than likely make more money this way. I saw the mustang when they first listed it on their website, knew what they were asking for it, and decided to finally come in. I have an suv I wanted to trade and going into the winter months I knew this was a good deal for Massey. Unfortunately Massey would not work with me on the price of the Mustang or my SUV. Upper management tried saying that the list price for the mustang was a Black Friday Special. Not true. It's the same price they first listed it at and the same price it's currently listed at today. As for my SUV, I knew what it was worth. They refused to show the value for it. Ultimately I went to Hamilton Hyundai n Chambersburg and was able to get not only what I wanted for my vehicle, but negotiate the purchase of another vehicle. read more

I was recently offered $4,000 from Hyundai Massey dealership for a my 2014 accent that I bought brand new in 2015. They sent it on a fancy card printed offer in the mail addressed to me. It's been 4 years and I still have this car with only 25,956 mileage on it only. Since I'm retired I only used it to go to the grocery store, church and the doctors office. I was offered $10,270 for my Hyundai Accent vehicle by Carfax report. The funny thing was that the carfax report was based on information that came from Massey Hyundai service department whenever I took the car in for oil changes. They know full well that even after four years ownership of this car that the value is $10,270 and they have the nerve to offer me $4,000 Now Massey Hyundai may deny in their rebuttal that the information didn't come from them, however no other place had access to my car since I only used their dealership for service on my car. Regardless what they say, carfax has access to their maintenance records. I personally don't care but other people might have a problem with their car maintenance records being released to outside third party sources without their consent. Something to think about. But it is a privacy issue on your vehicle regardless. If you do the math that's a huge profit of $6,000 dollars Hyundai Massey would make if I was foolish enough to trade the car to them. I will give a copy of my carfax report and let you be the judge on their integrity and honesty towards their customers. Honestly, I don't know how these dealers can sleep well at night knowing full well of the true value a car when a customer wants to trade it in with them. Even after four years, this dealership is still trying to screw me over with ridiculous trade in offers. I took good care of my car and that's why I was able to refinance it with my credit union without a problem. Of course they will paste their normal rebuttal against my review on the them as usual. It's one thing for a dealership to get $1,000 or even $2,000 profit out of a traded in car, but to flip a car for $6,000 profit does not sound ethical to me. The carfax report source of information was from Massey dealership and nowhere else so they know the true value of my car. When you bring your car in to trade with Massey dealership. They will not give you the Kelly blue book value or the carfax value. They use a different company that give low ball quotes on trade in value that I highly consider questionable. Just to remind you that the carfax report was done March 2019 and not 3 or 4 years ago. The service department at Hyundai have always treated me very nice and been respectful people. Unfortunately I can't say the same kinds words from dealers/sales department. I think as a customer, I always wanted to be treated fairly when it came down to prices. The trust was gone four years ago by an unscrupulous sales person along with his empty promises. I had hoped things would have been different after four years, but after getting that low ball trade offer on their fancy card I could not believe my eyes when I saw the terrible trade in offer. I wonder how much it cost to pay the printers to print up that fancy card offer. A word of advice, if you have a credit union, please make use of them so you will get a fair price on the vehicle. Get the vin number and let the credit union tell you what that vehicle is really worth. All that I wanted was a Sonata or a Elantra fully loaded with built in gps later on, but I can't do it at this dealership because of my issues with them and no fair trade in value offers. I waited patiently for 30 minutes, all the while watching three employees standing around the managers desk without one update on what was taking so long. Randy Mishler In the service Department proceeded to tell me that I was going to have to have a pay over $100. I made my appointment and they have plenty of time to let me know this but they did not I had to drive over 45 miles to find out Of the charge. I would make sure before buying a car from Massey Hyundai or at least using their service department. I've had an issue with them every time I've taken it up there. I had been talking with the salesman about a used vehicle that they were selling. I drove 2 hours to make the purchase barring any major issues with the vehicle. He pulls up the vehicle and it sounded horrible idling, making an awful high pitched screeching sound that could be heard from over 100 feet away. THIS IS A COPY/PASTE OF MY BBB COMPLAINT: I was deceived into going into the dealership with their loan payoff, trade deal, which really wasn't a trade deal at all. I called Massey b/c they advertised, on FB, that they will payoff your exicitng loan on a trade in, no matter how much negative equity.. COMBINE that with their black Friday savings.. plus that had additional savings... enow I just had an issue at another dealership, with a similar trade in deal, so I wanted to make sure BEFORE going in, that the deal was exactly as advertised. Teresa was the person who contacted me and ensured me it was, so I made an appt to go in, with the intention of buying a car. When I got there I told her inwa interested in the used 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude. It was listed, after savings, for around $22.5k. Teresa kept trying to push the New Hyundai SUVs on me in order to get the additional rebates, which will then cover the negative equity from my trade in. The problem I was having is that the advertisement, which I am including in this complaint, states that THEY will payoff my trade no matter how much you owe, EVEN if you owe thousands...... YET, Teresa was making it very clear, that the negative equity would be rolled into the new loan...... which is why it is important to shop for a new Hyundai--because in addition to Hyundai's black Friday savings, there were thousands of other savings to take advantage of..... and after those saving are deducted and the negative equity is added, well you're back at the black Friday savings(well my trade, anyway, as I am about 4500 upside-down)..... And so I say to her, "that's no different that y'alls regular practice--you wrap the negative equity into the new loan...HOWEVER, that's not how the advertising reads. It says MASSEY will pay the negative equity..... but you're telling me that I will be paying it in the new loan. That's deceptive and false advertising, and it's precisely what I wanted to know I'm the phone, so I wouldn't have to waste my time coming in here!" So the Jeep, which I've attached to the complaint is what I wanted. Had they honored their advertisement, they would have paid off the negative equity from my trade-in, and I would have gotten the Jeep for the black Friday savings price of $22654 + t/t/t.. but since they were falsely advertising and wasting my time, the actual price woulda been that PLUS roughly 4500 in negative equity from my trade in The Tuscon, which is one of the vehicles she was trying to push on me, as advertised, SHOULD have cost me $22898 minus $3250 for financing offer, minus 500 for military discount, for a total of $19148 plus t/t/t... but because they falsely advertised, they would have added my negative equity of roughly 4500 to that. I don't appreciate deceptive advertising. And I don't appreciate my time being wasted, when I took a phone call to specifically prevent the wasting of my time. read more

The other service advisors do not hold a candle to him or have his customer service skills. After picking up the car the price quoted was what we paid and we practically have a brand new car. My wife took her car to have the head unit replaced. Once completed they did not verify that everything was working, didn't even connect her phone to it for her. When she drove the 2 hours back home she told me that the Nav was not working. I looked and discovered the sim card was missing. Called them immediately and after several weeks received an empty envelope. Called them to inform them that the card was not in the envelope. Several weeks past and I called them again because we still have not received the card. I was told at that time that they will not replace the card and was told that it was only $25 and to call Hyundai. Basically, they lost a new customer that was actually looking at buying a new Palisade Calligraphy over $25. It's the principle not the money at this point. Wish I could give them a negative star for very poor customer service. read more

***Update*** Just found out today that, after being told by the salesman and the Finance officer that our tag information would be submitted to the DMV for processing to transfer our tags, that it was never done. We now have to take a day off of work and go to the DMV and do it ourselves. Had they truthfully told that was not a service they provided, we would have taken care of it more than 4 days before the temporary tags expire. Don't buy a car from these people. We were on a road trip in our Genesis G80 from Chicago to Johns Hopkins to visit our granddaughter. We got 550 miles "under our belt" and stopped for the night. The next morning the car was sputtering. Couldnt tell if it was mechanical or engine issues. No Genesis dealer for over 200 miles. Massey Hyundai was VERY helpful. Took it for a quick test drive to determine the belts in the tires had shifted. They put a rush on tires and had them changed by noon the next day. The entire service staff was friendly and helpful. Too bad we dont live closer to go there more regularly. read more

I would not recommend Massey Hyundai of Hagerstown Maryland to anyone. They must have the worst service center/mechanics around. They feed you nothing but excuses and lies. They don't honor anything they tell you when you buy a vehicle from them. Every oil change they do on my vehicle after a little more than a thousand miles, there will be no oil on my oil stick, and they say that's normal. When I bought the vehicle, I paid extra for the "Premium wrap bumper to bumper" extended warranty. Since June, they've had to do multiple repairs on this vehicle, and when I'd get my car back after a few days, the check engine light would come right back on again. They had my vehicle the entire month of October. They've had to replace 2 catalytic converters, which I had to pay out of pocket for them. Now the check engine light is on again, and they're telling me it has something to do with the catalytic converters, and they want more money. Really? read more

When you inquire about the details, the sales people refuse to provide any clarification or detail to a customers ACTUAL price without the customer actually coming into the office. You might be paying the internet price, but there is a huge chance your paying substantially different pricing than what they advertise. It's opaque and therefore a bit deceptive. Had a wiring problem with right headlight. Bought new wiring harness after replacing bulbs and problem persisted. Tech installed wiring then had service manager recommend replacing burnt out bulb he brought to show me. Problem was it was a different brand than the one I had installed earlier. Found a car on cars.com that i needed and wanted & i got lead here to this dealership where the car was. I called & was referred to the car salesmen Bryant Litton, which he was very nice and professional throughout the whole process. He told me he would make sure the car was still available & would email to let me know. Within 10 minutes i got that email & we agreed that i would come the next morning to check it out. The next day was his day off but told me he would still come in to take care of everything for me! To say all of that, I'm home now with a nice fresh car parked in my garage! read more

My dashboard malfunction light came on and I was told by my local dealer where I bought my car to take it to the closest dealer or call the Hyundai free road service. I was less than a mile from Massey so I called and they said bring right over. One hour later they told me it was just a minor adjustment and I was only way. This is a classy bunch of service advisors. Some other dealerships should send their employees to Massey for customer service lessons. It's 60 miles from our house in Rockville to Massey Hyundai in Hagerstown, and that's where I take both our 2004 Hyundai SantaFe and 2008 Hyundai Sonata for service. On the way I pass two other Hyundai dealers - Fitzgerald, in Gaithersburg, and Ideal, in Frederick. Why, then, you could ask, do I drive all the way to HAGERSTOWN to service our cars? Simple, really. The answer is: the excellent service, the professional expertise, the courtesy, and equally, if not most important to me, the integrity of Matt Whetsel and the people on his team. If they say something needs repairing; it needs repairing. No "ticket padding". If they say they will repair something; it gets repaired. "The job done right". If they make a mistake, they own up to it, and make it right. "They stand behind their work". I'll contrast that with my experiences at the two other dealers. In one case, I brought the Sonata in for an oil service - usually under $50. The service advisor called me in and worriedly told me my car needed roughly $950 worth of repairs including a new battery, or bad things could happen to my car. It's 18 months since that visit; the "bad battery" is still in the car, still works fine. Integrity, NOT. In the other case, I paid for a major tune up including spark plugs and a cleaning of the intake manifold and throttle plates on the 04 SantaFe. When the car started throwing engine codes again, I brought it to Matt Whetsel and his team. To my surprise and disgust, that other dealership had installed THE WRONG TYPE OF SPARKPLUGS(!); the throttle plates were still dirty. Again, integrity NOT. It is 10 pm and I just got home from Massey Hyundai in Hagerstown MD. I just pulled into my garage in my brand new Santa Fe Sport AWD 2.0T Ultimate Black on Black. Yeah, it's a little late but I didn't get to the dealership until a little after 6pm. My salesman who was Bryant made the process so easy and pretty enjoyable with his great personality. He never tried to push anything on me and he was straight forward and honest through the whole process. Massey agreed to the amount I wanted for my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee trade in and gave me a really decent price on my new vehicle. I did try to call Massey a few days before I decided to come in to see if I could get pricing but that is against their policy. I understand now why Massey doesn't give pricing or OTD pricing when you call or email them. They have prices that can't be beat and why give their secrets away for other dealers to try to match or beat when those dealerships wouldn't even offer those prices from the beginning. So do yourself a favor and just stop by and give them a try if you are in the market for a new vehicle. I would also like to give a shot out to Tommy who helped get me all set up as far as all the cool tech in my car and the manger that was there tonight, his name has slipped my memory but (He is an Philadelphia Eagles Fan) Fly Eagles Fly!!! The dealership itself is a pretty nice size and has decent parking for customers. Inside the dealership is very bright and clean. The coolest event besides me purchasing my new vehicle was when they gave me a personal shout out over the intercom system and they played music. Very nice touch Massey Team! I can not speak on the Service Dept because I just got the vehicle but I will write a separate review when I do interact with them. All and all I would totally recommend this company. Update July 3,2018 So I stated in my previous review that I couldn't comment on the service department but today I went back to Massey due to a bad battery cell and I had the pleasure of dealing with Randy. So let me back track, I woke up this morning and my new Santa Fe was dead. So I had to get it jumped to take it back to the dealership. Randy was not expecting me so when I showed up, he was a little thrown off because I didn't make an appointment because I was told by sales I could just come in to have my battery replaced. Anyways Randy took care of me in less than 30 min and he did it with a smile. I appreciate great customer service like that and I hope this msg gets back to him.
