Demand written authorization for every charge and every repair decision. Do not rely on verbal representations. Request all invoices, photos, and claim documentation immediately. Monitor whether charges are being added without clear approval. Watch for pressure tactics involving storage, lien threats, or sudden changes in repair scope. If anything feels inconsistent, delayed, inflated, or strategically vague, assume you need independent review immediately. Do not wait until the fees become unmanageable or the vehicle becomes harder to recover and find yourself being offered to make a deal at their dealership (likely where your car will be when they have fraudulently taken money and property). What should have been a straightforward repair turned into what felt like a calculated FINANCIAL TRAP. My vehicle was brought in for limited repair, but the claim was escalated far beyond the original scope. Additional work was performed without meaningful authorization, the vehicle was pushed toward total loss, and charges began accumulating in ways that appeared to benefit the shop, not the customer. The biggest issue was leverage. Storage fees increased daily while the vehicle remained in their possession. Additional labor and administrative charges were added after the scope had already been expanded, then those charges were used to justify withholding the vehicle unless payment was made. The longer they held the car, the harder and more expensive it became to recover. What made this even more concerning was the conflict of interest. While my vehicle was being pushed toward total loss and becoming more expensive to recover, I was also offered the option to purchase another vehicle through their dealership if mine was declared a total loss. That changed everything!!!! This no longer felt like a repair shop trying to fix a customer's car. It is a business with a financial interest in steering the outcome by escalating the claim, increase the pressure, make recovery more difficult, then profit again by selling the customer another vehicle and likely staying with the vehicle to resell and make double profit. This is not an uncommon tactic in this industry. Just look it up and this company's history that they haven't covered up with their own reviews. That is not normal. That is not customer-focused. That is a serious conflict of interest. What was presented as "standard industry practice" is much more like a strategy to expand the claim, generate charges, retain possession, make recovery financially unrealistic, and create pressure that benefits the business at every stage.

Lets be honest there are not a lot of things that I have known that are good to buy off Holt other than street tacos. I was not exactly what you would call an easy sale. I was also a bit strangely organized financially because of my type of business so I proved to be a bit of a challenge for them. Mostly because of the experience which I thought would or could get salted over time but it has not. There were a few issues with my purchase that involved the navigation and control module. Steve assured me he would help me take care of it and another minor issue was that the lights are so fogged up they hardly look they are on. Once I get to a place where I can drop this car off I will have it handled but either way I can say this. There is reason why this organization is 5 Stars. They do everything right. They have the cars you are looking for and more importantly the attitude needed to make a good experience. In sales its about the CAN DO attitude. The La Costa brothers were there to provide their automotive knowledge and extremely reliable recommendations. The cars we purchased from them throughout the years had no headaches. When it was time to afford to budget a second car into our household, it was legendary. We felt extremely blessed and fulfilled to have what others would imagine to be basic necessities. La Costa Auto Sales was a major factor in making that transition possible for their reasonable rates and reliability. In 3 hrs in in my car all fixed and running perfectly. I noticed when I'm at Henry's Automotive People come back to Henry's that have moved far away. A man from Riverside comes back to Henry's. Other folks long time customers came from Palm Springs back to Henry's. I'm a auto parts delivery driver. Last 5 yrs I deliver to over 60 auto repair garages. Henry' Automotive is by far the best repair garage here in the area. I'm sure glad Henry is my mechanic. Its a beautiful blessing to have Henry as my mechanic. Unfortunately, my vehicle's air conditioning system is once again malfunctioning, now blowing only hot air. Given my previous substantial expenditure and the relatively short time since the last repair, I brought my car in for inspection, leaving it overnight as advised. Prior to leaving my vehicle, I had a clear verbal agreement with Henry, who explicitly assured me, "I won't do any work without calling you first and agreeing on the service." This commitment was crucial for me to authorize any diagnostic or repair work. To my dismay, upon collecting my vehicle, I was presented with an invoice for $155 for..without any prior communication or authorization from my end. This directly contradicts the explicit agreement I had with Henry and my expectation of transparency. Furthermore, my interaction with an older female (VERONICA)at the counter was highly unsatisfactory. Her demeanor was notably rude, demonstrating a complete lack of customer service etiquette and professionalism, which further compounded my negative experience she continued to argue with me and raise her voice for no reason. They took us to the lot, while waiting for key to be brought to us from the main lot we looked around at all the different cars. We found a Red Nissan Juke that we were interested in but it was in Car City's storage lot side. We talked to Joséluis who didn't seem real interested in selling cars that day. We just assumed it was because it was later in the day. Disappointed we left with a promise the Juke would be ready by noon the next day. So, the following day, we called instead of showing up and he said it wasn't ready to come back the next day.. we asked why he said because it hadn't been worked on to make sure it was ready. So, extremely disappointed we waited til the next day. When we called again the next day as told to do so, he said it had been worked on but not test driven yet. We asked what that meant as far as us getting the car today he said, "come back tomorrow." We told him, Nevermind just keep the car. We told him, You lost out on a guaranteed sale. I would not recommend wasting your time going to this dealership. All you'll get is empty broken promises and they're not very pleasant at that. I would give a minus star review if they offered that.
