Stopped by on Saturday, 7/11/26 to service my car (my dad went with me). We ended up going and waiting at another building that they have (I think they are renting). This 'new' building is typically for customers who have less than 60k miles. The OG building is for the lather. The lounge at the new building is massive. There is a new coffee machine which look different than the one in the other lounge, I honestly didn't like it since you would have to add sugar and creamer yourself. I scheduled my first oil change at Claremont Toyota after seeing a promotion online: 3 oil changes for $119. I called ahead to confirm it applied to my car. The person on the phone (Brenda or Belinda) said yes, there was no time limit - could be used as long as I went to Claremont, it was tied to my VIN, and I just needed to come in person to purchase it. She scheduled my appointment without mentioning I should go to the express service area instead of the main service desk -- so I wasted time driving to the wrong building. When I made my way to the express building, Paolo greeted me after a wait. As soon as I told him I was there for the promotion, he said, "I don't think your car qualifies." He checked his system and confirmed it was because of the oil weight (0W-16). But the fine print on the $119 coupon I was emailed only excluded Supra and 0-8w oil vehicles -- neither of which applied to my vehicle. There was another coupon in the same email which explicitly mention that different oil weights would cost extra, but that was a different promotion. Paolo admitted the exclusion should have been on the $119 coupon but wasn't, then blamed the call center for not informing me. He offered no solution and made no attempt to honor the promotion. He just deflected responsibility. To make matters worse, Paolo had my full name on file but referred to me only as "Sir" the entire time -- "Sir, this," "Sir, that," "Sir, I'm sorry," "Sir, the car is around the corner." It was completely impersonal, like I was just another number to him. Other dealerships I've been to actually use your name. Here, I felt like a transaction, not a customer. On the positive side, the service itself was quick -- just under an hour from when I pulled in, which is faster than many other dealerships. But the misleading coupon, lack of transparency, blame-shifting, and impersonal treatment overshadow that. First impressions matter, and this one left me feeling misled and undervalued. I had a very disappointing experience at Claremont Toyota. We went to the dealership specifically to see a Camry that was advertised online at a certain price. We test drove the vehicle and were ready to make a deal, only to be told at the last minute that the car had supposedly just been sold to someone else. It felt like a classic bait-and-switch. Instead of trying to make the situation right, the salesperson brought out an advertised gold certified Camry that was in poor condition and covered with dust. The car was dirty, had scratches on the exterior, and the rims were badly scuffed. What was even more frustrating was that no one acknowledged the damage or apologized for wasting our time. To make matters worse, the salesperson seemed more interested in watching the soccer game than helping us. We never felt like valued customers, and the entire experience came across as unprofessional and disrespectful. We left feeling misled and disappointed. What's the point of making an appointment and what is that "EXPRESS CHECK IN" "EXPRESS SERVICE" signs for? Back for my 20k mile "Toyota care" maintenance with scheduled appointment at 3:30p. Arrived at 3:15p and didn't get checked in until 3:58p (see proof below). Big thanks to Rigo for communicating to those of us waiting over 30 minutes to be checked in. He was trying to get help for us and even got the manager on duty to expedited matters. My truck has ongoing malfunctioning alarm and electrical issues. This is my 3rd time reporting it. Last time they said I had to wait for the master tech to be available. That was months ago. The tech that was helping me then ghosted me after a few follow up texts and calls. I'll add his name when I get it. I feel he didn't believe me. And that's why he stop replying to my text and calls. I'm giving 2 stars today because I was helped by 2 stars today. Rigo and Hugo. Hugo Ruiz is the service advisor that helped me the first time I reported my issues. Hugo remembered our first encounter and seeing the videos of the malfunctions I took while they were happening. Hugo took down the new issues I am having, put reminder notes of continuing issues and scheduled me for an appointment to specifically address my 2025 Tacoma issues like he did the first time. Unfortunately the issues didn't occur while under Claremont Toyota's care the first or second time. Thank you Hugo Ruiz & Rigo for being great representatives. Now if only they would fix my truck's issues. I made an appointment for 10:45 am for scheduled maintenance. I had tickets to see The Odyssey at 11:35 about 10 minutes away. I figured even if it for some reason takes 30 minutes to drop off my car for service, I'll still be fine. So I show up and am directed to go across the street to the new Express Service location. Fine, no issue. I get my number for my car from the attendant and am directed to get in one of 2 lines of cars being processed for drop off and to wait in my car. Again, fine, no issue. They're not moving especially quickly, but they're moving, I assume they're slammed, and just sit in my A/C and listen to music. The line (very) slowly shrinks and all the cars that were there before me have now been processed and I am first in my line. I sit for a while and it has now been 30 minutes since I got there. Getting close to make it to my movie. I sit and sit and now watch attendants come to the car BEHIND me and start to process them. Ok. Annoying, eating time that I don't have but I figure it's their system and someone is right on their way to get me since the car behind me can't even move until my car moves. Next, they do the car to my back right. Then they move the cars in the lane next to me and start working those. It has been 30 minutes and I'm watching them seem to avoid checking me in. I ran out of time, so I pulled out, gave them my numbers back and left. Done with this place. Go slow? Ok, fine. Be inefficient? Ok, fine. But just flat out waste my time? Nope. Despite the long wait it's always a pleasurable experience when here as everyone is polite and helpful, and they have good coffee lol So I was waiting and got the alert my truck had these dents and scratches, I quickly told the guy not to move it, he got off and said idk, I showed him there was no scratch and dent, he seemed careless about it, but I understand he can't admit anything against his place of employment. So I told him not to move it and went to speak to Luis, he said it's no big deal, I told him it was cu the system is saying my truck is damaged where clearly it isn't, I told him I don't want it back scratched and dented, and he said no so they took it back and serviced it! I had a good experience here the first time buying my car i come here every couple of months for a service. today i came here for one and i had also got a call the day prior regarding my used car and its value being up. All i wanted to know was how much my car was. I had told the sales rep from the beginning i guess it went one ear out the other. Trust me i've felt pressure before i don't know what's worse drill sergeants or sales reps. Don't get me wrong he was cool and all but i had made it clear im not here for a new car nor can i afford one right now. He took me back to his office and tried to get me a good deal after another which i appreciate but i had told him no already. Then he proceeds to bring his boss in to manipulate me into buying the car! I end up leaving after talking to a trusted family member classic sales man nice try shark attack in basic was better than this baloney. I end up going back to the service waiting room and his boss ends up following me!
