Not only does the restaurant say everything is made in-house, but you can actually taste the difference. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. Every dish felt authentic and thoughtfully made. Its location next to Target might cause some people to overlook it, but that would be a mistake. This place is a hidden gem. Amazing service and incredible food! This has quickly become one of my family's go-to spots. The service was fast, and our server was genuinely kind, attentive, and helpful. We ordered the whole duck, black chicken congee, pork meat folder, green onion pancake, crab puffs, and sides of rice, every single dish was amazinggg. What could be more comforting than a huge bowl of fat noodles, chunks of tender beef and baby bok choy (so you can feel like you ate something healthy) in a broth that feels like a warm hug? That's what I had at Master Kong. My husband had the same version of what I had only on a plate with rice sans noodles and broth. I took a pic of mine but his came a little later and I dug right into my bowl, totally forgetting to feed my camera. Oops. My bad. The beef is marinated for a long time, I'm guessing. It had good flavor all the way through. We both agreed the hard boiled egg was a little weird tasting but that's ok. It was more of a garnish. I took a lot of my soup home, as the portion was generous. There was plenty of beef left and just for good measure I saved a bok choy. The menu had some other interesting looking items on it. Might be fun to try the XLB soup dumplings, spring onion pancake, etc. But I have no regrets! Our server was very helpful and sweet. The ambiance wasn't much but you don't come here for that. Came on a weekday for lunch and there was no wait, but definitely a busy place. The staff was very friendly and patient with us since it was our first time there. I ordered the roast duck noodles with rice noodles and my friend ordered the salted pork bone congee with a Chinese donut. The congee is the kind of consistency that I like, not to thick or thin. I broke my 'no spend January' to try the new Master Kong that opened up next to the Clackamas Target, and I'm SO glad I did. It ended up being so delicious that I went back twice in the same week. First I tried the brisket noodle soup. The broth was so good that I completely forgot to take a picture of it. It had so much meat in it and it just melts in your mouth. Fantastic! The second time I tried the clam congee. Another win! There were so many clams in there, and I had lots of fun digging through the porridge to pull the clams out of their shells. I definitely plan on going back to try their xiaolongbao. If it's as good as everything else I've tried, then I'm sure it's delicious. read more

Great Chinese food restaurant. Classic dishes like beef noodle soup, Jian bing, XLB, wet rice congee, pan fried buns, green onion pancakes. Service is pretty quick and you cannot beat the price of everything. The interior was nice and clean. There's this cool projector light that shines down on the floor in front of the cashier counter with Master Kong's brand logo on it, pretty cool! Only odd thing was that there was still Xmas decor in Feb when we went which probably needs to get taken down if it hasn't already. The food is excellent, just like the other two locations, which I've been going to for years. Service was fast and attentive. Ambiance feels much more like a typical Asian joint, compared to their other locations. I got one of the items from the special/"new" menu: the congee with beef and pickled vegetables. The beef was tender and the vegetables crunchy, just the way they should be. Perfect comfort food for a chilly day. And the "snow pea leafs" were excellent, as always. You're served the food family style so we got to try a little bit of everything that we ordered.
