Some brickwork is cracked around suspended arches and cornerstone decorative pieces (e.g. above garage doors) but obviously has been for decades. I specifically called Cornerstone because I wanted a serious contractor who does actual poured footings, not that stacked cylinder mess that could actually crack your foundation worse as they use your house for the jack leverage. Dave was on time, courteous and (given that our appointment was in the middle of the Viral Apocalypse) understanding that I was working from home instead of 'off' for the day of our appointment. We spoke for a bit, he outlined everything well and asked pertinent questions about my reasons for calling, then got down to work inspecting...and recommended no work be done at this time. I offered to pay a service charge but he said that wasn't necessary. We did follow up on the phone briefly (I was busy when he was finished) and I am strongly considering coming back to them for some drainage improvements here and there as precautionary measures. James took about an hour and half to fully survey the property, visually inspect obvious problem exterior areas, identify his company's landscape protection protocols, surveyed the home's interior walls, windows, doors, closet spaces, etc. He was very thorough with the inspection and identify other non-foundation related repairs for future projects. His digital floor mapping, leveling equipment was used in every room in the house at about 4-5' spacing throughout the perimeter. He drew an EXACT SCALE floor plan of the home, identified the weak points, and the pier impact locations. In my specific situation, the front of the house had begun a gradual slow slide towards the curb and leveling dropped 1-3" in areas. James' crew worked in the hottest part of day... without complaint! They worked very hard, doing a very physically demanding job in unbearable heat/humidity... and NOT ONE TIME did one of them lose their composure, sour their demeanor or become unprofessional. I am very, very impressed with that level of service. Day 1 - "hand" dig all pier sites, while safely, carefully removing our beloved landscaping, patio furniture, etc. Day 2 - all power-jacking work done, new leveling readings throughout the house, new cement poured to affected concrete porch areas, all landscaping returned carefully to their original positions and patio furniture replaced. The crew carefully raked the yard, removed excess dirt, swept the sidewalk... they left NO IMPRINT they were there! Our house has now returned to its previous level self! Both of these contributed to the field supervisor finally showing up and doing the best he could wrap up the lifting from what had already been done. Unfortunately I paid full price for a "training session", and ending up with mediocre results. As a consumer, 1)do your homework on your project 2) ask lots of questions 3) don't settle... In the future I would be very cautious in using or recommending Groundworks.
