I was able to message and set an appointment for the next day. Smog took about 15 mins and I waited maybe 10 while they were working on another car. Fast and efficient for smog. It's a pretty big shop and had a fair amount of cars to get work done there. Can only speak for the smog but they have a little waiting room with a couch and a couple of chairs. Was fine as I was only there for 15 mins. If you need to get a smog check, check them out and ask for any coupon or pricing before getting your work done. read more

I just want to say that I had one of the best experiences at Master Mechanics and Smog. The owner, Bobby was awesome and very nice. He messaged me back promptly and answered all my questions. When I arrived at the shop Henry was nice and pleasant and made sure to greet me. Bobby communicated to Henry what we previously discussed and made sure that I was taken care of. No tricks, no hidden fees; NOTHING. Just his word They were super professional, and was very attentive to the other customers who were there too. At our request, he accommodated us first thing Monday morning. The test itself took only about 15 minutes. We arrived late and understandably had to wait for the customer with the scheduled slot. I hate getting smog checks. I practically get at least one every year since I have multiple cars. Usually I look online and see what's the going rates. It ranges from about $31.75 to over $50 plus $8.25 for the certificate. I've encounter so many dishonest places over the years. The online price will be one low price. Then they tack on an addition charge if you require a Star test. Some will even require you to print the online coupon or say you didn't mention the online special price prior to smogging. The scams are endless and bullshit!! I also know that everyone's prices and "specials" vary from month to month. I get a least one smog a year and when I call past places I'be been to their prices ALWAYS ARE MORE than the last time I was there. Anyways, I found Master Mechanics and Smog by accident on Yelp. Saw someone post an ad for $31.75. + 8.75 cert. Didn't see any catches on the ad. So I called them. Nice guy answered. Sounded like an Indian guy. Told him I saw yelp ad. He told me he could do it for $40 total. Asked if I needed an appt and he said no but it does get busy. He asked what time I want to come and I said l'll be there in an hour. Got there and there was one person ahead of me. Took about 30 mins or so. Gave him $40 cash!! No funny business. I will be back again. Thanks! read more

Pros: Quick Yelp communications Fair smog tests pricing for all model year cars. Free retest, even for OBD1 cars (on dyno), a rarity today. This shop is a BAR approved repair shop. If your car fails smog test and you qualify for the California's Consumer Assistance Program from BAR, they can do the repairs under the program. Cons: None. Well the shop is 30 mins freeway drive from where I live but that's not their fault. Bring a little patience with you as the shop can get busy at times with their limited spaces, especially if your car needs to be on the dyno. Everyone I dealt with there has done good work. Went to talk to the mechanic first before bringing my car, told me to bring it tomorrow which i did, when i got there the next day, he looked pissed about me going there what the hell? He saw me Mugged at me then after 15/20 mins he decided to talk to me asking what i wanted wtf? So i told him about my car then he said to leave it there he will check it, 2 days passed no call from them. Went to pick up my car and took it somewhere else. I need it to pass my smog check so I thot this would be a good place. I got charged the regular $50 for test and diagnostic. I paid and it failed. After it did not pass the test, they want to charge me ANOTHER $75 just to see what needs to be fixed. And the guy told me " make a decision on what you want to do right now because I'm busy and I don't have time right now". WORST SERVICE EVER!!! read more
