I would not spend time nor recommend this place to anyone needing a smog check. The only employee at this shop (the owner?) wasted time. He didn't even do the smog check. He assumed the car was going to fail and just going on a random lecture about car parts, repairs, and driving cycles. Luckily I didn't spend any money. If he did not want to test my car and was ready to end his day and go home... He should have just said so. I would have went elsewhere. Not sure what that man's issue was. He was lazy and unprofessional. I would not recommend wasting time for a smog check here. read more

So , I went here last week and was told by some guy with big glasses on that my car didn't pass his "VISUAL" inspection but the good news was that my car passed the smog . I needed a bolt in my exhaust manifold wich according to bottle bottom glasses was missing or broke . Went home scheduled an automotive appointment at the Chevy dealership on Fulton /el Camino 233.00 real American dollars later find out there is a bolt exactly where it needed to be covered in some grease or old oil the car is 20 years old called L&S smog to tell them they had made a mistake and I am out 233.00 dollars & was told well sometimes we miss them or could be wrong but bring it back and we will figure it out but we will not reimburse you the money you payed out to get the car checked out, by a real certified mechanic.! The issue is several people are saying the same thing on here . Visual inspection didn't pass when was the last time the technician got his eyes checked making an already stressful situation worse! No empathy! I will be filing a small claims against this establishment on Wednesday next week not for the money but for all the people who have had the experience of " IT DIDNT PASS MY VISUAL INSPECTION " What a total joke of a human. From my initial visit, Jean Luc was always friendly & the wait times weren't bad at all! VERY PICKY VISUAL INSPECTION! I was there today and saw Jean-Luc (only person there) FAIL three cars during the visual inspection, one of it being mine, and it look like one was a return customer for a re-test. The crazy thing is I paid my fee and drove straight to another smog station that I have taken to before and without problems it PASSED! You're probably wondering why I just didn't take it to my original place? Well, it was the DISCOUNTED price and location, the other place is in Elk Grove. My point being is don't let the discounted price get you and thinking all smog stations are the same. The price is not that much different from other stations. The real difference is who you get as an "Inspector". The visual inspection is subjective, meaning they decide if it's going to pass or fail and not a computer. Also, they do have an unspoken "quota", meaning that no station can have a 100% passing or failing rate so, unfortunately today was the day the three of us were the sacrificial lambs for this station. read more

We've been bringing all of our cars to this location for a few years now. Always helping us is Jean-Luc. I don't think anyone else works here except for him?!? We usually just walk in and there will be a few people waiting to get their smog done. We've been aiming for weekdays since they can get pretty busy on the weekends. He'll give us an approximate wait time but otherwise come prepared to wait for your turn. He has his system of getting us in and out efficiently. There is usually a coupon online that's honored. Pleasant, professional, clean lobby and great pricing. Can't beat that!! read more

The person who helped me was Jean-Luc and was very nice and knew what he was doing. $58 for the smog which is pre pandemic prices, I don't know anywhere else who hasn't raised prices. DON'T bring you car here! We wasted a hour waiting to get a smog for the mechanic to be incompetent and unable to do his job and making some excuse saying he can't connect to my car. I'm sure he's inspected many cars I'm not driving a space craft LOL. Also he totally skipped us in line to start inspecting someone's car that came after us. Super inconvenient. If i can give less than one star, i would. These people are so prejudiced that the worker inside was ignoring me for 5 minutes while looking up some wheels on his screen. Not until I asked him if he did smog, then he replied. Pulled my car in the shop to smog it and then pulled it right out to tell me that he is not going to smog it because i am a dealer. I went in for a smog check/test on 6/12/23 on DMV renewal requirements. I left my paperwork home and asked this bearded mechanic/technician & he said,'no problem' on it. 25 minutes later, the smog test was done as he promised; a couple was ahead of me. Pretty fast wait, simple & clean lobby, & even w/ wi-fi. I highly recommend this business. Bring any coupon for a discount! I gotta add: this deserves a 5 star for a score, but giving a 4 now because there's always greater improvement in the future. read more

I've been taking my car to L&S to get smogged for about 7 years. It's a '94, so it only needs to be recertified every 2 years. This year, just today, I brought it down so I can renew my registration. Different guy working there than the last couple of times. My driver's door doesn't open, it hasn't opened for years, was never a problem before. But this new guy refused to perform the service, said he "wasn't comfortable" having to climb in the passenger door. This was probably partially due to the fact that he's a bit overweight, but he managed to get in my vehicle and drive it into the bay without any problem. He clearly just didn't "feel like" having to climb in and out of the passenger door. I don't think he's the owner, and I hope the owner reads this, because I was tremendously inconvenienced, showing up there on a Saturday at 8:30 and waiting for 45 minutes. In the meantime, I called another shop, told them my driver's door doesn't open, and they responded with "So? What's that got to do with anything?" I don't like leaving bad reviews, but in this case, someone's employee lost them return business from a customer of 8 years, completely and needlessly inconvenienced that same customer on a Saturday, because he was too lazy to climb in and out the passenger door. read more

I arrived midmorning for a smog check. I was referred by a neighbor. Jean-Luc greeted me promptly, told me it would be about 20 minutes and I would be done. He pulled out the car ahead of me and went to work on my car. I left 20 minutes later with everything taken care of. My car remained clean and tidy and I had all my paperwork in-hand.
