The best local Chinese, in my opinion because it's consistently good. I've been going since I would walk to the mall on my own lol!

Dao came thru in the clutch for us for a quick good meal when we were in the area…read more The first thing we noticed was the tight parking spaces - narrow little spots. This place is packed! It died down a little bit after 730 but still it gets quite good business. The chips you get when you sit down were a little stale. I don't really eat that stuff anyway. On the bright side, the sweet and sour sauce it came with was very good and the wasabi mustard had a huge kick. The soup dumplings were legit. As good as you will find in Edison. $12.25 for 6. A little bit pricier than Edison but you pay for the fact that you can have it in this area. The filet mignon with spicy pepper sauce was pretty good. Portion size is in the middle. Not too generous nor skimpy. It wasn't spicy. It came with delicious mushrooms and baby bok choy. The black pepper sauce was delicious. Similarly the pepper steak with onions was also mid on portion size and amount of meat they give you. It came with delicious chopped peppers and onions as well. Good flavor. Both of these steak dishes came with a complimentary bowl of rice. The pot of tea was also complimentary. It was pretty good tea. The service was great. Very friendly staff and they changed our plates after the soup dumpling appetizer. Sprite was only $2 and a bottle of san pelligrino $3. Good place with a strong loyal customer base. We will be back!

The service was a bit slower than what I was used to compared to other classic chinese restaurants. My mom wasn't feeling spicy food so we got more a couple non spicy/mild options when we went - so didn't get to try some of their more notable dishes. The mongolian beef and the spicy crispy short ribs were my faves from this visit. Can't wait to try other things on their menu next time! Please note, entrance and parking is in the back after you turn in, not the front. And there's a slight discount if you pay in cash.

Restaurant was about 1/3 full. You don't come here for the ambiance, you come for the consistently good Chinese food. Really the only decent Chinese food within a 20 minute drive of South Orange. This time went with the hot and sour soup (always delicious), scallion pancakes, spicy smashed cucumbers, wontons in chili oil, Mongolian beef, and string beans in garlic sauce. About $94 (not including tip) for all of it. We ate about half and will be able to have a full second dinner with the leftovers. Can't recommend this spot enough.

Stopped in on a weekday for lunch and ordered plain fried rice, House Kung Pao tofu and the veggies…read morein brown sauce. Crispy noodles come to the table with a sweet duck sauce to dip. The fried rice had no salt and needed soy sauce. My wife also noted there was a faint vinegar smell. I saw a few charred bits in the rice which we found odd. Veggies in brown rice were a hit, crisp fresh veggies with a great flavor profile on the brown sauce. Putting this on top of the rice balanced the lack of salt from the rice. Kung Pao tofu. Tofu was confirmed to be fried and tossed in the sauce so we were hoping for some crispness but were met with an overly chewy bite. They were generous with the peanuts- which I love. Also in the dish were chopped green beans. I asked for hot mustard on the side- and unfortunately this was so thinned out that I couldn't even get it to the plate without just dumping it. Flavor was severely diluted as well. Execution on most of the dishes had room for improvement but nice atmosphere, pleasant staff and generous portions.

We were delighted to find that there's no fee for Sunday parking, so we definitely scored big time! We waited only for a few minutes, and then we were quickly seated at an adorable round booth, making the atmosphere feel cozy and private. They only give those to parties of four or more. The other tables were open-feeling. We scanned the QR code for the menu and ordered the following: Premium Jasmine Green Tea - 5/5 stars. A must-get! Aromatic and perfect with all dishes. A pot of tea is $9. Pork Soup Dumplings - 4.5/5 stars. Delicate skin. Be very careful when picking them up. Have your spoons ready. My only wish is that they served julienned ginger alongside them. The dumplings and broth were so tasty, we forgo the dipping sauce. Homestyle Braised Pork Belly - 5/5 stars. Delicate and sublime with the perfect ratio between the fat and meat. Fish Slices & Green Peppercorn - 5/5 stars. They gave us a good amount of fresh fish, and don't be fooled into thinking this dish isn't spicy. It has fresh green peppercorn. After swallowing, that's when you will feel it. It's pleasant and not Mala spicy. If I could take it, you would be fine. Dry-fried Cauliflower - 4/5 stars. Cooked to perfection as it's not overly done, and it lightened up the lunch dishes. Our only comment was that the garlic was barely cooked. Ugh, we had garlic breath for the rest of the day. These dishes do not come with rice, so if you desire a bowl of rice, it is $4 per bowl. Everything was made fresh, and the restaurant, including the bathrooms, was clean. The waitstaff are friendly without hovering over you. If you need anything extra, they are there with their tablets in hand, ready to assist you. They do offer desserts, but we forwent them as we were headed elsewhere for dessert. Great location, easy to find parking, and fresh food. We'll definitely be back.

Ambiance: Sofun Noodle Bar has a clean, contemporary interior with a modern aesthetic. Even the restrooms were thoughtfully stocked with Aesop soap, which was a nice touch. It's refreshing to enjoy Chinese food in such a bright, stylish, and well-maintained space. Food: If you come here, definitely order one of their rice noodle dishes since that's what they're known for. The Signature Lu Fen was flavorful, comforting, and satisfying--I would happily order it again and would love to try another rice noodle dish on a future visit. The Spicy Fried Pork Intestines, however, were disappointing. They were extremely dry, almost as if they had been refried, and the dish contained far more dried red peppers than actual pork intestines. The balance was off, and I wouldn't order it again. The fried rice was a solid choice, and the other dishes we ordered were enjoyable. We finished the meal with the Sweet Tofu Soup, which is essentially warm douhua served with lightly sweetened syrup. It was light, comforting, and the perfect way to end a flavorful meal. They also bring complimentary gum with the check, which is a thoughtful finishing touch. Parking: There is plenty of street parking and nearby parking lots, and parking is free after 6 PM, making dinner visits especially convenient. Bring your friends and family and give Sofun Noodle Bar a try! Stick to their signature rice noodle dishes for the best experience. A really good Vietnamese in Millburn!…read more Went with my son, as we are in the area every other week, ordered the butterfly shrimp, paou paou's (a Vietnamese open faced bao) and 2 beef pho with a side of pork chop each (yes I was hungry ) The place is in the center of the retail section of Millburn, so parking was easy with the municipal parking lot, the restaurant seems to be mainly geared towards takeout, but there is outdoor seating on the left of the building, as well as a relatively small dining room in the back. Service was great, and the food was delicious, the Pho was a smaller portion compared to some of the other Vietnamese places in the area, but the flavors were on point, and we def over ordered I'll def be back when in the area

Fresh and Sumptuous Vietnamese Food in Downtown Millburn!…read more We came to Saigon Cafe in the downtown area for an early dinner on a Friday evening. They have a few tables outdoors and some seating inside. When we arrived around 6 PM, the place was just starting to get busy, but it was completely packed by the time we stepped out around 7 PM. The food here is fresh and really sumptuous. Honestly, they serve some of the best pho we have ever had. The bone broths used in the soup are incredibly flavorful and feel freshly made. Here is what we ordered: * Fresh Spring Rolls: We started with the shrimp spring rolls, which were decent. * Chicken Pho: My wife got this, and it was awesome. * Special Beef Pho: I ordered this one, and it was very flavorful and tasty. The meat quality was absolutely fantastic. * Grilled Meat Pao: My sister got this with chicken and fresh veggies, and she really enjoyed it. On top of the excellent food, their staff was very friendly throughout our meal. I highly recommend checking this spot out, just be sure to get there early on the weekend since it fills up fast!
