The coffee is good; skip the food; nice ambiance My husband and I have visited this coffee house 3 to 4 times this summer, as it is near to where we are staying. The coffee has always been good. I usually order a latte or variation on a latte. My husband orders medium roast black coffee. On our first visit we ordered food. I ordered scrambled eggs on a croissant. The eggs appeared to have been pre-made and steamed. The croissant was soggy. This breakfast sandwich was terrible. However, we also had a cinnamon muffin which was good. That was the one and only time we ordered their good. A couple times I have had their raspberry white chocolate latte. It is sweet but very good. One time I got their bullet proof coffee, which was made with butter and is novel. Most of the time I get a latte. There is at least one other Matador Coffee in Flagstaff. Matador must be known for its coffee. A couple other businesses in town advertise that Matador roasts their coffee. The ambiance in this branch of Matador is relaxing and pleasant. I like the music. We have always been able to get a spot in their parking lot. This coffee shop also has drive through service. read more

My search for a Bulletproof coffee that was NOT Whole Foods led me here (in town for business). Decent reviews, and local, bonus points for sure. Due to the overreaction of COVID-19 this place is only offering drive-thru service, which I knew before going. The real issue is that the drive-thru here is ridiculously slow. I saw in some reviews that it can be slow but that is a major understatement. I was #5 in line, including the person at the window, and it took me almost 40 minutes to get my coffee and pull away, not exaggerating. Due to the design of their drive-thru, once you are within about 6 cars you cannot get out - you have to wait. They make the coffee when you get to the window. The plus is that the coffee was hot and delicious. Kudos for having a true Bulletproof coffee. Local owned is a huge plus. Having only one person working is ridiculous. I doubt I would return here unless there was no one else in line, 40 minutes is ridiculous. I also went to the location in Milton on a different day and the line went much quicker, also 1 person, plus they had walk-ups. read more

My wife and I have been here a few times on weekends for a quick latte before exploring the Flagstaff area. It has everything you would want in a coffee shop: quality coffee, no line, quick service, and parking. I don't mean to imply that there isn't anyone there. There are cars in the lot and people seated at the tables, sipping coffee and eating breakfast, but we've never had to wait. The interior styling of the of the coffee shop appears to be clean, not overly eclectic, and has a nice bathroom. My husband and I had never been to Matador Coffee until today. It was recommended by Ron Stump at R&R Automotive (next door) on E Hwy 66, Flagstaff, while his team worked on our car. The barista, Kayla, was friendly. My husband had a cup of Americano coffee. I had a Chai Latte; we shared a blueberry scone. The coffee was great. Music was pleasant. We watched Kayla as she took orders from the drive-through window and at the counter. She was friendly, pleasant as she interacted with customers, answering questions, and preparing their orders. She checked up on us in between other customers and cleaning up the tables, emptying trash cans, etc. I was impressed with Kayla, especially since she was staffing the front of the shop alone. She is a real positive asset to your business! We ended up purchasing a pound of Red Rock Blend whole beans for home. We will be back! read more

Went there with two other people. We all ordered a drip coffee and a sausage burrito. The food was great, the coffee was over-roasted, and the service was disrespectful and rude. Firstly, the drive thru coffee opened more than ten minutes late and the girl who operated it could not have cared less that she was running behind. Worst of all, the "cook" clearly forgot to make our burritos and we sat patiently for 30 minutes waiting for three microwaveable burritos. We literally heard the "cook" mention to her coworker that she forgot about our burritos, and then she lied about it when we finally asked the cashier to check on our order. Both the cashier and the cook lied about what happened with our order instead of just being adults and taking responsibility for a simple (and obvious) mistake. The cherry on top is we had to listen to the "cook" for 30 minutes go on and on about how she is "so broke bruh" speaking very loudly so everyone could hear everything she said. The whole atmosphere was so childish and unethical. While the food was good, you'd be better off going to Dunkin' than to this place run by a bunch of seemingly snotty kids. read more

Coffee was just okay. I got a basic latte with no flavor but could hardly taste the espresso. I would recommend adding an extra shot. They also offer a few specialty drink options that seem intriguing. The breakfast burrito was good. It was a large portion and reasonable priced. The barista was a bit frazzled, responding to my query that they had been steadily busy (there were just two employees). Given that she was both prepping food and answering window and walk up business, I could see she was busy. However, she took the time to put cream in my coffee before serving it to me, and got my food order up as quickly as possible. Unlike some other reviewers, I didn't find any rudeness, just busyness. I came in a couple days ago to get some coffee around 8 am. There was only two workers which is fine but no one even acknowledge me when I walked in while I stood at the front waiting for someone to take my order for 5 or more minutes. One of the workers was making coffee but didn't even greet me. She just looked angry to be there. The other worker looked at me and then walked to the drive thru window to help them first. We are from out of town and thought we'd try this NONstarbucks establishment for some yummy coffee. When we pulled up, someone was walking out of the business carrying their coffee, so we parked and walked toward the door. As we approached, we could see a sign taped to the door, but we weren't close enough to read it yet. But since another customer had just exited, we figured the sign probably said masks required. Carryout only, etc. My husband looked over and the woman inside the drive thru window glared at us and pointed furiously at the two cars in the drive thru line like we were idiots. What the heck. We weren't going to batter down your door and cough on you. We couldn't read your tiny sign until we got close enough. And you just had someone else inside there so what're we supposed to think? They are understaffed and rude. We have driven through at least 6 times in the last 4 months continuously giving them another chance. The complete and total over reaction to Covid and simply not wanting to have to sanitize things is pathetic. You can now walk inside but not sit anywhere and you definitely can't use their restroom. Not customer friendly at all. Use to be great about a year ago but have now had way to many slow and rude encounters. Last visit, waited 15 mins in drive thru when only 1 person was in front of us. Only one person working who was clearly overwhelmed. If you do not want to be open and serve your customers then you should probably just close until you are comfortable. read more

I've been here 3 times between both locations and all 3 times the coffee was way to sweet and the service is awful! The Milton location had a blonde thin girl who was snarky and rude and the east side location the brunette in the window was bother by my presence since it caused her to do work. The have good bagels but because it takes forever to get what you order and because the service is terrible it's not worth it. This was my first visit to Matador and I enjoyed it very much. Their neighboring business offers a discount with presentation of a Matador receipt, so my wife and I decided to give it a shot. I drink A LOT of coffee, which I typically like to prepare myself, and I very much enjoyed the basic dark roast. My wife is a Frap fan, so she ordered blended mocha coffee. I sampled hers and it was delicious. The coffee shop in general was very peaceful and there was no line whatsoever.
