I have been to this location of Matador a few times now and each time brings its own flavor to the table. The first couple of times I had the enchiladas. The next few times I had their bowls. Do have their salsa as their salsa has definitely improved over the few times I have had it. The last time I wanted to try their Nashville Chicken Tacos but sadly they were out of it. Overall, the experience is pretty good but its a tad overpriced IMO. The nearby Agave Cocina provides much more better value for the food but I guess the ambience is one of the reasons this place is priced higher. The staff were so great making sure our family were able to join us throughout the evening. It was a boys night out and it's been a while since we caught up so we end up getting a bunch of drinks, in addition to nachos, enchiladas, and other. The food was decent but what was the most memorable experience for the night was the horrible service from our waitress. We went from raising out hand to talking to her to get her attention, just to see her walk away. The Matador never disappoints! Happy Hour is pretty cheap ($1.50 for tacos, choosing either Carnitas, Shredded Chicken, Braised Beef or Chorizo). Most items range from $4-$6. Nachos Grande is $5. I LOVED their strawberry arugula salad. Fresh arugula with strawberries, not to mention the added touch of pumpkin seeds, feta and a nice vinagrette dressing! Next that was really tasty was the Habanero wings. Got 2 plates of these haha. I had the white peach sangria which was very refreshing and I heard the tamarind margarita is pretty bomb too! I have tried the other Matadors and just happened to be a n Redmond for an event. I am late writing this. It happened on May 8th. I ordered food to go and went in to get my order. There were a couple people waiting outside because at the time I guess only a few people at a time could go in and get their to go order. The people in line told me they thought my food was up so I went in. This ride lady came running over and told me to get out. I told her I could see my order on the bar I had to leave. Right after that a man just walked in after me and she gave him his order. I asked her why he was able to just walk in. She said well it was your turn but it's your fault because you let him in front of you. Then she argued with me. I had already prepaid for my food and all I needed to do was pick it up. I have never had such horrible treatment. I will never go back to this place and I tell everyone I talk to about my experience. Haven't tried this place in a few years as the last time I'd had it the quality seemed to have dropped significantly. A few friends guided us (a group of 6) here for some food and drinks. I ordered the carnitas tacos and I asked to add avocado. They came out sopped in wet pico de Gallo and maybe some of their green sauce. The tacos couldn't even be picked up, as the damp, flaccid tacos disintegrated as soon as I raised them a half inch off the plate. Matador is a great place to go for some good food. We come here when we are in the Redmond area and hungry. Their chips and salsa is always great to start off with. We have gotten the queso and even the guacamole quite a few times and it is pretty good. We would recommend the guacamole over the queso. This visit was the first time getting the mushroom appetizer and it was big enough for a full meal. It was absolutely delicious and worth going back for just that. We have consistently had good service each time we visit no terrible or over the top amazing experiences all very average and pleasant. Matador is probably one of the only bars open until 2:00 am in Redmond. I used to be a huge fan of this place about 4-5 years ago. The food was absolutely delicious. I think they either changed management or chefs - the food isn't that great anymore. The chipotle mushrooms were to die for. They had crostini's on the side - now they serve the not so delicious mushrooms with tortilla bread for soaking. WHAT? You can never get your steak medium. It will always be well done. Regardless, I always end up coming here because of the hours, the ambiance, and the nachos. I promise the nachos are the best you will ever have. They do have good tequila too. Our go-to Mexican place in Redmond. It's open late, the salsa's incredibly addicting, and the bar + drinks are great. The entire place is classified as a bar so you need to be 21+. They normally don't have a wait unless there's an event in town or it's dinner time at the end of the week. More on that in a sec. You'll get your parking validated by the greeter and you can choose to sit at the bar, by the fire place, in the back, on the patio (during warm months), or in a large second room to the right that looks out at Leary Way entering Redmond. We're regulars here and sometimes what some critical reviews say are true, when they're busy the service can be slow and the atmosphere too loud, but they've compensated us with coupons before and a they've always had a great, apologetic attitude. The amount of times service has been perfect easily makes us forget we ever had a sub par experience here. Get the flight of street tacos. Highly recommend trying one of each but the pork belly is the best! The fried calamari and roasted Brussel's sprouts are also excellent. read more

The food us historically great there and Redmond is right up to par. I frequently Matadoor whenever I am in the area. The food is excellent and the bar drinks are always excellent. They have some of the best bartenders around. As a matter of fact, I hadn't been there in a while and the bartender remembered my addition of red wine float on the top of my margarita. The Matador is really a hit or a miss on when you go in and what you order. I had a great experience ordering the enchiladas and the burrito ultimo. Both are generous portions and good value for money. I was disappointed when they went off the Microsoft prime card but some food still remains good value and I will recommend. I was however thoroughly disappointed by their chicken tortilla soup. The soup was super watery. Even though they had added a quarter of an avacado to it, it had no chicken. Imagine a chicken soup being served without a piece of chicken. At $5 for a small cup, it was terrible value. For the location, I would say this is a pretty solid spot I would definitely come back to. Came here for happy hour and overall, enjoyed my experience! Took my housemate here for her birthday dinner and we had an absolutely amazing time. The Matador in Redmond has been my go-to place for great cocktails and incredible food for years now, and it was the first restaurant we took her to when she moved to the Washington back in February. The traditional brick building contrasted with the modern menu and amenities inside makes it truly a unique place to visit, and the rich history embedded in the heart and soul of the location really speaks to the historian side of me. Our visit was on a Wednesday evening (June 28th to be specific, sometime around 7:30pm) and the restaurant was quite busy so we had a short wait. The serving staff was incredibly diligent with making sure we and the other guests in line were kept updated on seating situations and taking care of us in any way they could while we waited, which only further speaks to the service and quality of the staff on hand. Our server, Jackie, was outstanding not just in getting us food and drinks faster than I'd ever seen anybody work before, but in her handling of some rather unruly guests that appeared to be making advances and following her around the floor while my friend and I were waiting. Shortly after we were seated they had all gotten up to leave and the vibe seemed to return to normal as we weren't the only folks that noticed. Having worked in the industry myself (bartender at a nearby pub) I've seen my fair share of less than stellar customers get a little too excitable especially around my waiting staff and it always gets my blood boiling a little bit when they start stalking them around the floor, but Jackie handled it with a level of class and patience that would make even the saintliest of folks think twice about their own words. Kudos to Jackie and I hope that the rest of your night went as smooth as it possibly could have because nobody deserves to be put in that kind of situation anywhere, especially not at work. But you handled it magnificently with a finesse that we all could learn from. For anyone planning to visit The Matador in Redmond I highly recommend trying the Carne Asada Sandwich alongside their Mexican Mule, which has this ginger-lime syrup and blanco tequila thats just amazing. What's the deal with this place? It's not a restaurant. You can't sit down and have dinner unless you're 21 or older. And they don't tell you this until after you've waited for your seat!
