This is an overdue review of a wonderful gunsmith that we found, thanks to our fellow Yelpers! Our Ruger was in a million pieces and it was time to get it back in its proper working condition. I communicated via Yelp Messaging w/Jason. He was prompt to respond, and gave a $90 estimate, and a 5-day turnaround, provided there were no broken/missing parts. We were in no rush, and told him to take his time. March 16th, we drop off our weapon, and after a few weeks, I called to follow up on the status. The fella on the phone said they were waiting on a part and soon as it arrives, they'll call. I sent an email to Jason about 3 weeks after, on April 26th, to check status again. The reply stated that they had to order a magazine and although it shipped, it hit a snag after leaving Florida and was stuck in a Texas distribution center. The email said to allow 7-10 days and they would contact us when it was ready for pick up. On Tuesday, May 11th, we got the call that our Ruger was ready for pick up and it would be $220.00. We understand that they have been swamped, and at the time we dropped off our Ruger, they had 400 active projects that they were working on, so we understood there would be delays. Steve was awesome as we went to pick it up. He showed us the pieces that were replaced, and said that during the testing, it was good to go. We thanked him for being so tentative and off we went. I look forward to dealing with them in the future. They are knowledgeable and down-to-earth, and they practice social distancing. When we went in to pick up our piece, we were asked to wait outside as there were plenty of bodies inside. We obliged, and after about 15-minutes, it was our turn to go in and handle our business. I really hate giving this negative review but I think I should warn you about Match Grade. I first went here about a year ago to have 5 different guns cleaned ang checked and also had some new sights put on a couple of them. At that time I dealt with a great guy named Jason. He was very upfront and knowledgeable about what should be done and did great job and was upfront about a time frame to get the work done. Now 8 months later I take my 1911 back and deal with someone else to put a new red dot sight on the gun. I am told they need to order the part and it should be in and they can put it right on when it arrives, I am told it should be ready in 3 weeks. I call after 4 weeks to see how it is going and I am told they could not get the part but they can drill a red-dot sight on and it will be ready the following week. Two weeks go by and no word so I call and I am told that they do them in groups and it will be another week or so. I wait 3 more weeks and no word. I decide that since my gun has now been there for over 2 months I will just go it and take it somewhere else. When I get there I give them the claim check and ask for my gun. They ask me if I was called to pick it up and I say NO, I just want my gun. He comes out of the back room after about 10 minutes and says, it is done. I find out it has been done for over a month but no one told me, in that month I called twice to find out the status. He charges me 1/2 the price I was quoted and I leave very upset because you would not charge me 1/2 price if you did not screw up !! It was not a price issue I wanted my gun !! I will never use or recommend Match Grade ever again, just be honest and say we messed up. Jason was great but this place is like the lost and found now !!!! read more

Match Grade Gunsmiths will only be getting two stars from me and that is because they were polilte. The reason they won't get 3, 4, or 5 stars is because I was originally told that to verify the caliber of rounds to be used in my rifle should take about a week. Two months and seven phone calls, and 120 miles of driving later, I retrieved my rifle as they had not gotten around to work on my rifle. They needed only to make a casting of the breach. Reasons: computer is being used. Two men short (only one does the casting and he was there. No casting materal. casting material ordered but don't know if it's in. Feeling sick ... If you have several months for them to work on your gun they might be the place to go. read more

Came in today to have Sal, the Master Gunsmith fix the errors of Bolsa Gunsmithing. He went out of his way to help me, a rare gesture in this industry. He discovered through careful examination, many underlying issues in their work that I was unaware of , and I was shown that Bolsa Gunsmithing "warped" and "twisted" the floorplate of my Mauser C96 pistol, in addition to causing damage to the frame. Master Gunsmith Sal was very methodical in his work and he is a true professional, unlike Bolsa Gunsmithing. I would say Mark Burnach, who passed away a few years ago unfortunately, along with Sal are the only true Master Gunsmiths I have ever met in So Cal. He was able to fit back the floorplate flush with the frame and undo the frame damage caused by Bolsa Gunsmithing, and provided excellent customer service, as he explained to me what was wrong. I highly recommend Match Grade Gunsmiths and suggest you to go to their establishment for your professional gunsmithing needs. read more

No shipping it to someone to do the job, and then charge you on top, like most others. Dont even bother with anyone else. These guys are legit, and do a great job. I had to take in my P22 after it started slinging rounds all over the place. They trouble shot it, showed me the lead build up mid bore that was pretty caked on, and what they would do to clean and check the bore. Straight pricing up front and had my gun cleaned, and the bore checked within a couple days. Even gave some advice on the ammo being used and why that likely led to my issue. Great service, feedback, and advice afterwards. Highly recommend these guys. read more

Had several work performed here across a few of my firearms. Sal and the other gentleman are incredibly knowledgeable gunsmiths. I have had free-float rails and muzzle brakes installed on a two AR15s, a scope mount installed on an M1A, and a trigger job performed on a Smith & Wesson R8 to fix an issue with light primer strikes. Sal even took it to the range to test out his work before returning the revolver to me. During his time at Ammo Brothers, Sal has also helped me dremel the feed ramp to fit my upper and lower receivers together on a 9mm AR15 (which are much more finicky to build than standard 5.56s). I am more than certain they can complete more difficult gunsmith work than the ones I have given them. While I have since moved away from Cerritos, I will continue to refer my friends in the area to Match Grade for any gunsmithing needs. read more

Wow. What a hidden gem. I came here on April 8, 2020 to do my Firearm Safety Test. It was quick and easy. Literally everyone here is really nice. I have never even touched a gun before, and they did not treat me any different. They were helpful through it all. I then came back later that day for a Private Party Transfer, and once again they were great. Very helpful and informative. I then had a few questions. I messaged them on Instagram, because I had a few questions. They did not hesitate to answer every single question I had. During all the craziness going on, especially with how busy gun stores have been, it was really nice to be given full attention and be treated with respect. Brought my pistol back because the green dot fell off due to the screws getting sheared off when shooting. Keep in mind I had already put 1,500 rounds through this setup. Took my rifle in to have a clearance issue addressed and Marc told me to look around and hang out for a second. He went back and started to work on my rifle right then and there. Went in to MGG last week. New precision rifle. Got it checked out to make sure all is working, scope mounted, and some minor checks done. Staff was easy to talk to and got my rifle into the queue easily. Should have taken two weeks by estimate and instead took 4 days. Prices are good and staff is friendly. Love em. Called a few days ago asking about a stuck barrel nut. That crap was STUCK-stuck. I tried all the stuff I read online (heating the barrel nut, throwing it in the freezer, using a cheater bar, etc), nothing was working. When I gave Match Grade Gunsmiths' number a call, my call was answered by a dude named Joe. Joe was nothing but respectful, and he was extremely helpful. He quoted me on the spot. I made the drive down to their location, where I met Steve. Absolutely awesome guy, I very much enjoyed chatting with him. With all the right equipment and knowledge, he was able to crack that barrel nut open with no issues. I was in and out in 5 minutes. He also explained how I could have damaged the barrel or upper receiver by trying to twist the nut off without the proper equipment. He was super sincere and very helpful, answered every question I had and quoted me on some other things I was thinking about having done. Wanted to reduce the grip on my Glock 17 and have the grip stippled and took the Glock to MGG at the end of July. Sal was backed up with work and my Glock just got in line. I was told that it might be a couple of months and at the end of September (two months exactly) - on a whim - I packed up my Glock 34 (that I also wanted modified) and went to MGG. As it turned out, my Glock 17 was next in line and after a discussion with Sal, he suggested I leave the 34 and he would do both of them that afternoon. And he did. The charge was reasonable and the discussion about guns very instructive. I especially want women to know they can go to MGG with their gun problems and be assured that they will be treated properly - with no talking down, no rolling eyes, no smirking. I went through that elsewhere and that gun shop won't see me again. If I am paying for the service, I shouldn't need to have a man come along with me to do the talking or run interference. At MGG you walk in and wait your turn at the counter. And on top of that as other reviewers have noted, the work is darn good. read more
