Easy to spot at Rising Tide
    Bill D.

We had noticed the Ugly Duckling food truck parked at Rising Tide when we were doing errands in Bayside and decided that we'd stop there for lunch. I am SO glad we did! This is an amazing little spot! The menu, while not gigantic, is filled with quality choices. The specials added on a brisket sando, which was top-notch! My partner's burger was perfectly cooked and the tots were piping hot and crunchy. The people running the truck were patient with questions and put together our order quickly. The truck is parked near Rising Tide, so there are many, many picnic tables and lots of shady spots. We are already looking forward to the next time we'll go there!

Amazing breakfast at Ugly Duckling while we were in town for a long weekend. I had the BLT on an English muffin and it was the absolute bomb, easily one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. The service was fast, friendly, and a great neighborhood vibe. If you are in town and need a morning bite, this should be at the top of your list.

Friendly and welcoming space, cool and relaxed vibes, music. Perfect place to dine, relax, work or socialize. The people are so friendly and warm, and attentive to service. If you're lucky you'll even spot the elusive jimmy who pops in and out of view every so often while he frantically cooks orders. Food was impressive - had the desayuno del sol and it was different and innovative way to present a chorizo and egg breakfast on a sandwich with a little bite and sharp saltiness of the chorizo. The buon giorno was light and hint of creaminess but so good. Nice music and relaxing vibe. Highly recommend!

Cute cute place. Small, quaint, in a cute neighborhood. I came here for the cream puff but ended up taking a whole lot of pastries! The cookies were stuffed with candies inside and were delightful. Perfect texture loved the treat inside. I also got a chocolate peanut butter cream puff which was bit and made in a choux pastry that was deliciously well done. I also indulged in a Trocadero of sour tarts candies and lemon cream filling. The pastry was light and the cream inside was so good - like a lemon custard. The service as also nice. It wasn't busy but they were quick to attend to me and get me a box of pastries together to go. I got smiles all around and a nice welcome and farewell. I would definitely go back to try the regular menu.

Our experience at Ugly Duckling was generally OK - the space is cute in a great neighborhood, fun menu with plenty of homemade goodies (including their delicious english muffins), and spot on with the flavors. However, the service was pretty rough and that definitely soured the whole experience for us. We came in around brunch time on the day after Halloween. The hostess invited us to seat ourselves at the bar. It took a while to get menus... then took a while to get water... then took even longer for someone to take our drink order. When they did, they were of what we tried to order - the menu that we were given was out of date. So we pivoted and ordered different drinks... which took a while to arrive. After we placed our food order, things took a lonnnnggg time to come out. It looked like they were jamming with to-go orders, so that much I can appreciate. But that 40+ minute ticket time can suck either way. And when we did finish our meal, it was like pulling teeth trying to get our check. The loaded breakfast tots and english muffin pizzas were very tasty. We took an oreo cream puff home to enjoy later and it was soooo good. So I really can't knock the food or drinks. But the servers/bartenders were totally checked out and it showed. It could have been an off day (hungover from Halloween maybe?) The menu was pretty torn up and dirty as well and had not been updated to the current offerings. I've heard such good things about Ugly Duckling so I'm hoping it gets some TLC to bring it back up to standard.

Our experience at Ugly Duckling was very interesting -- to say the least. Our immediate impression was that it had a unique vibe and was enticing from the jump. It was unclear whether we should shit ourselves or wait for a host to seat us. The service was friendly but slow. It really seemed like they were understaffed on that day. The food was tasty enough. My latte was absolutely delicious! Pro-tip: just seat yourself... we witnessed so many people just hovering around and getting "cut" in line because other guests would come in and just seat themselves immediately.

Service: waitresses were friendly and very helpful beings I made some add ons to my burger. Talkative and respectful, but slow to refill water. I found myself dying of thirst waiting on my refill even after asking once already. Ambiance/atmosphere: small, but well decorated and vibrant colors. Relaxed, but occasionally loud. Being loud isn't an issue as it is a quick grab and chill type of place. Food: my burger was good and with a pound of meat you can imagine how juicy it was too. English muffin bun was toasted nicely and held together very well even on the bottom. This was by no means a top 10 burger, but it hit the spot and wasn't disappointing in the slightest. My grandma got the sausage and egg breakfast sandwich, which was very enjoyable in her opinion and it looked to match as well. The sausage was flavorful and the cheese was well melted paring nicely with the egg. Perfectly toasted English muffin holding things together.

There's no reservations or wait list, it's a causal pop in (may have to take to go) kind of spot. Was pretty busy when we went so had to wait for seating, but the food was good and the coffee was too! It's a cute local little spot if you're in the area.

Got there around 9am on Sunday. No line. Seated immediately at the bar. Food: Pastrami on Rye was excellent and the sauce made it a little messy. The No. 2 was solid and the ketchup made it a little messy as well. The lattes are good but lukewarm. Overall: Would definitely return!

All around excellent spot! Small space but well laid out. Service was great even though they got very busy right after we arrived. Husband tried a special that was a bbq turkey and coleslaw sandwich. I had the Como se dice buon giorno which was *chef's kiss* 10/10 a perfect breakfast sandwich top to bottom. A genius combination I've not seen elsewhere. It was clear every ingredient was great quality. This just might be my new go to breakfast spot! My husband also really enjoyed his specialty coffee drink too. We'll be happy to return!

Super cute duck theme and merch area.

This place has a bright, fun and eccentric atmosphere! I ordered a salted honey latte which was delicious and unique, and learned that they make all of their syrups in house which I liked too. A few people arrived while I was waiting, and were greeted by name with a warm welcome, so I'm sure these people were regulars. Throughout my entire time there, I felt awkward and out of place. Like these people knew I wasn't from around here. I guess everyone was nice enough, but I definitely felt like I was not given the friendly welcome that others were. Not sure I would come back, but if you haven't been and like fun, unique spots I would give it a try.

    Spanish Mimosa

Wonderful rye muffins and Spanish Mimosas! Service was fabulous- friendly and warm. Great vibe, encourage you to try it. You won't be disappointed!

Trocaderos with the flavors of peanut butter and jelly. What a delicious treat!

Cute business! Staff super friendly and welcoming. The location is ok...very easy to miss if you aren't from the area. Parking- street, as expected from most establishments in the city. We picked up a few treats...not sure what they all were, but they were cute and SO DELICIOUS!!! Packed with flavors and freshness. If we lived closer and/or within walking distance, this would be such a daily temptation. I need to still come back for a breakfast sandwich sometime.

When we finally came during the off season, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity since wait times were shorter. The wait on a Saturday afternoon was about 15-20 minutes. The corned beef hash here is excellent - that I do have to acknowledge. I was a bit underwhelmed by the fried green tomatoes though. The tomatoes were just okay, but the excessive hollandaise sauce really just made the whole dish waaay too heavy. It was also just messy. Service was slow & our waitress tended to disappear for long periods of time. Coffee & water refills both took a long time. Parking here is difficult but not impossible.
