We bought an adjustable base for our bed about 2-3weeks ago, they scheduled a delivery time between 2:29 to 4:29(pay attention to the exact minutes) on that Friday, 4:30 came and passed, I called the number they said they're running a bit late and they're 2 stops behind. Well, waited until 6, nothing. Called again they said they couldn't fit the item thru the door.. I was like w t heck?? Anyway they apologized on Saturday only when I called, and scheduled again for Tuesday, I took another afternoon from work and yepp no one showed up, no one called yet again. I called and put on hold to be told they lost the bed. Yes they could not locate the bed, a king size bed, they were supposed to deliver, but of course no one even bothered to let me know. And we went to actual store that night and was told they actually can deliver it today. Another afternoon is gone (delivery window is between 3:46 to 5:46 btw, be amazed at their punctuality!!!!) I called at 5:46 and they said our delivery was marked as 'non complete' for whatever reason' and they're closed at 5:30. No one ever bothered to call. So that's the story so far we've had. I have lost hours from work and still don't have the bed. They claim they are cheaper than even online companies and all, and it would be good if you could actually get the furniture. Basically you pay less for the furniture that won't be delivered. But lesson learned I was about to spend thousands at this company. read more

BEWARE! This company fails to deliver furniture in a timely manner. My wife and I ordered a sectional couch back on 9/22/23. The sales man Rick promised us a 6-8 week lead time (because it's a local vendor in Fullerton). LIES! Even their Sales Manager Benjamin confirmed with us that he lied about the lead time. Every time we have called back to see the status of our couch, we either get hung up on or lied to by Benjamin on when the new delivery date will be. We called in November and he promised the end of December. I called today (12/29/23) and he said 1/15/23 is the delivery date (+3 days of delivery time). On top of all that, they have the nerve to add a $69 pillow onto our bill that we didn't even order (probably thinking we wouldn't see it and just pay for it anyways). My wife and I purchased a mattress from Mathis on 12/15/2023. The sales guy( Stan) went about how great all mattresses are, but if we are not pleased with it, we could exchange it. The mattress and frame cost over $5,000. The capper is they charge you an additional $150 for a mattress cover for the warranty/ comfort plan to be valid. At that point, my alarm should have gone off echoing scam. However, I wasn't too bright that day. We bought it. Over the recent months, the mattress seemed to break in the wells, where there is stitching. Started having back aches, that are still with me. No problem, I called the representative, in Tulsa. I soon found out how difficult it would be. Mathis requires several pictures of measurements we must submit, that would make an engineer scratch his head. Sign affidavit acknowledging our responsibility, which includes freight charge. The funny thing about the call is while we were on hold we heard Rip or Skip, the owners kid stating that Mathis brothers sole mission in life is to "make sure you are are happy with your mattress or they will exchange it to one that makes you happy. What he failed to say, if you don't exercise a warrant return, but want to exchange it for another style (the comfort plan), it will cost you 10% of the purchase price plus any upgrade amount. read more

Fast forward now to todays delivery the sales rep that helped me with my bedroom set wasn't aware that a box spring for a king needs 2 box springs . Well only one was delivered ! I have been on the phone with them all day trying to get them to redeliver another half of a box spring and I still have no answers . Not only that they keep telling me I have to go into a store to pay for it and that they can't deliver it asap ??? I'm so fed up my bedroom was 4k and it's been the worst 4k I ever spent . Also my card declined when they were taking payment over the phone because their payment center is in Oklahoma!!!$ so obviously it instantly flagged with my bank. They won't retry the card but instead keep telling me for security reasons I need to go to the store which is an hour away from my house !!!! Disappointing to say the least. Our frustration level is through the roof. Our sales person Ashley Rios is an absolute GEM. That's where the positive experience ends... We had our recliner break 18 months in and had a to do a warranty exchange. Because it's past 1 year you have to rejoin the membership to get a discount on the replacement. 2nd you have to pay $169 for delivery of the new item & pick up of your broken item covered under warranty (so you're $300+ out of pocket before the exchange). The new replacement recliner was delivered with a broken frame so they took it back. The 2nd one was delivered dented and with a scratch, the 3rd time they brought the chair it's clearly been used or a returned item. Waiting on now a 4th delivery... praying we can finally get the "NEW" chair that cost us $500 more than the one we returned thanks to paying for delivery, Mathis membership, and cost difference... BUYER BEWARE!!! The quality of goods is subpar,choices poor quality, Blvd brand is actually Mathis generic, and their warranty is a scam!! I was promised a delivery a week after purchase and the day we were set to have the furniture arrived no one showed, I called to check and they said it wasn't even scheduled and it couldn't be delivered for a month!!!! The entire reason I chose the set I did was because the salesmen told me and assured me it'd arrive next week when I needed it, before my child's surgery, so we could come home from the hospital to new couches for her to sit on. I thought the salesmen were so nice and helpful but just good sketchy salesmen after-all I guess. when I called the store to ask for help conveniently no one could be reached to take my call. Mathis took 3 mo to deliver our sofas. We paid the entire amount at the time of purchase. When they finally came in, I was contacted and told that I owed an additional amount, I figured it was an accounting error so I paid it. When they arrived, there was a single dining room chair that we didn't order or want. I refused it and was told customer service would be sending a refund. Almost a month later, nothing. I called and am being told it would be sent in 2 installments, even though I paid it in one installment. I told them to pay it all NOW, to which they said they had to talk to another dept, and hopefully they would pay me within 10 business days! It gets better, I just received a whopping $1.88! I have been trying for months to get my money back for a horribly defective couch and chair that were delivered. The delivery people dropped the items off and left before we could even examine them. I was calling and emailing customer service the next morning and sending photos. They picked the items up immediately. I have had to fight for my refund and after a couple months received a partial refund for the credit card amount, but cannot get my $500.00 CASH deposit back (which I gave them in store to reserve the pieces). i also had to fight for the delivery charge to be refunded. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You delivered defective items and you want ME to pay for deleivery? I have spent literally HOURS on hold. No one at the Irvine store answers the phone. I have spoke to at least 8 customer service people who have made promise after promise to get my money back. The number listed on the receipt and google for the Irvine store ring in Ontario. Every time I ask for the Irvine store, the representative comes back and says there is no answer at the store and they can send them an email. I would never ever ever buy anything from this company. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. This is a complete waste of my time, time I cannot get back. BUYER BEWARE. I will be going to the store, in person to demand my $500 in cash when I am at the store. Me and my girlfriend came here to window shop for our house after we had just left the gym so we were in work out attire. We let the staff know (including the person in question) that we were just there to browse, well A sales person wearing a black and white dress kept following us around the store as if we were delinquents. We went to check out some sofas and there she was behind us, went outside to check out patio furniture, there she was again, so we left and walked inside and right behind us, there she was following us again. Follow up from my last review, here is an update to the story. I had to go back to the store in Oct, spent about 1 hour there. What I found out was that my order was canceled by someone eventually, so they couldn't see in the system how much the missing table was suppose to cost when I purchased it. Luckily I kept all the receipt, and they couldn't charge me the new rate. Anyhow, since I have all the paper work hard copy, and the store couldn't find in their system any more, they had to honor what I paid already and schedule delivery for the dinning table. But the fact that I placed the order in May, paid in full, yet they are still trying to ask for more money when time comes to delivery, tells you how bad their system is. Dinner chairs sitting in the dinning room for 5 month until finally had the dining table! Lesson learn here is always keep the hard copy of the receipt! read more

I have still not gotten a resolution of the problem I reviewed 3 weeks ago. Soon after my review I got a call from a Carolyn Decator saying that she would talk to the manager and expedite resolving the issue in the next day or so. I waited for 10 days or so before I called her and her attitude completely changed and said that would have to pay another $1500 more to have the replacement bed delivered on Friday tomorrow. I agreed but when I called the store today they said there was no order and no bed was being delivered. I tried to contact her and the store manager and both were too busy to respond. I will have to continue to struggle with this issue which is highly stressful for myself and my elderly husband and hard on our health. We recently completed a home renovation and needed to furnish our new master suite. Mathis Brothers is located at the Tustin Marketplace off Jamboree. We randomly stopped here on a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived, there is a tented area by the entrance. The staff member was friendly and scheduled us for a walk-in. We were not aware that an appointment was needed. Due to COVID-19, all customers entering the showroom must wear a face covering. They also take your temperature to ensure a safe shopping environment. Then you're provided a gold wrist band and are allowed to proceed inside. The Irvine location is large and has a huge selection of home decor. Everything is mapped out accordingly so you can easily maneuver around the showroom. We looked at some sectionals, bedroom sets, and dining room tables. The employees are very attentive as we were approached by at least 3 sales associates asking if we needed assistance. We have a few items that caught our eye. Definitely will return to order some bedroom furniture! The prices are competitive and quality are exceptional. read more

Bought a king size sleep number bed with the metal bed frame that lights up and can be changed with a phone app. Immediately out of the box and upon set up, the right size of the bed frame was broken and malfunctioning. The app keeps crashing. They sent out a "repairman" the next week who came out and banged around the frame and said "it's broken. We have to order another one". The next week the delivery truck came out and had the wrong size frame. I've come to the store several times and talked to Tory, Steve and Bobby and asked about returning the frame and exchanging for another frame. They keep telling me that my issue is 1 in a million and that they will "get this fixed". They are the mattress managers , yet say they "don't have the authority to accept returns or exchanges". We ask for the name and number of who to contact and they keep talking around that and say they can fix the issue. I don't want a product that immediately failed me and is "guaranteed" by a company who keeps messing up. This is ridiculous. 3 rd time in the store complaining and I feel they're just jerking me around past the initial 30 day purchase date. read more

I am here to explain my situation with Mathis Home, so that I would do my consumer citizen's duty and also as a human being to introduce to you a bad business and see if you would want to join me in not buying from them, eventhough the same thing may not necessarily happen to you. I would appreciate your compassion and sense of consumer responsibility. I purchased a dining set along side closer to 7000 dollars of murchandise from Mathis Home. A little over a year from a very long delayed delivery (months), a chair leg broke off while a guest of mine was sitting on it and the guest fell off (I had also a pregnant guest that day). Upon examining the broken piece, I noticed that there was paint markings all over the inside of the broken piece. This clearly indicates that the leg was cracked before the paint was applied at manufacturing (see photos). Mathis Home denied the claim to replace the chair (original value of 190 dollars, on sale for 100 dollars) due to an expired manufacturer warranty. My claim was that the chair is proven to be sold to me damaged and cracked which was not visible due to the dark nature of the leg to an unexpert eye. Secondly, I did not buy this from the manufacturer. I paid extra money and bought it from Mathis Home and they have sold it to me cracked/damaged/broken. It is actually tgeir responsibility, and not mine, to check for damages before they sell it to their customers. This chair probably cost a few ten dollars for Mathis Furniture. It is beyond me to even imagine a business being so cheap as to escalate this obvious fault of their own to this point and not satisfy a customer with just replacing a small item out of a 7000 dollar merchandise purchase. So, if you buy from them, you are dealing with that sort of a company. This company, with such service, will not survive much longer. Changing names wouldnt help either. I think, it is upon us, responsible consumers, to have a voice and defend each other as a unit to stop such dealings with any other consumer. Thanks for reading me, and perhaps, not buying. Just stop having your sales people be so overly aggressive. Most do not enjoy having another breathe down their neck. Very disappointed! Purchased a bed with LED light headboard. When we got boxes home noticed one box edge was crushed and retaped. Drove box back to store, was told by a very harsh and rude receptionist I would have to prove damage at which time store would order parts to fix at my home only if needed. Buyer beware: Matthis Brothers employees tend to oversell warranties and exaggerate the likelihood of getting your furniture claims approved under their protection plan. We purchased outdoor furniture a year ago that appeared to be in brand new condition, as it was covered year-round. However, when some of the finish began to rub off, our warranty claim was denied. They sent us all the fine print that was never shared at the time of purchase. It seems they are not genuinely concerned about their clients. This is the second set of patio furniture we have bought from them, and it will be the last. Their hard-sell tactics for the protection plans are frustrating, and when we actually needed assistance, their support was completely unhelpful. The sales associate tried to tell us basically nothing would be denied it so easy just pour wine on your furniture and call them and tell them it's Dane obviously something we wouldn't do but this is how she sold it to us. read more

I got a call from someone that stated either a manager or my salesperson Aaron would call shortly. After waiting a couple days I ended calling the store to talk to manager, who was busy at the time. I was told I could ask for Aaron or Ben when I arrived as I thought I would handle this personally. Ben was very apologetic, dissappointed Aaron did not attempt to make effort. A call would have been nice. Ben was professional and explained they don't have a store manager and gave me solutions to wait not until OCT but August/Sept. I looked at chair in stock and choose that option. Had I known it would be Aug or Sept weeks ago and offered the in stock similar chair, this issue would have never happened. I got my chairs delivered yesterday, they called to let me know when they were coming and email came as promised. The guys showed up when they said in the 2 hour time slot as promised. I called to get the covers replaced and still have not received all the replacements. They give me the run around with every conversation, tell me they're "waiting to get the shipping date" and there's nothing they can do. It's now December, 5 months later. My wife and I came here to get ideas on pieces that we would like for our new home in Texas. Our Sales Rep said that Mathis delivers to Texas for a 10% of total purchase fee. We decided to move ahead with a bedroom set and dining chairs. We paid for our items but since the store was closing, the rep wasn't able to get our delivery fee on our paperwork because the manager for that side wasn't available. We've been calling them for 3 months to get this solved, and two different managers have reached out saying they'll get it straightened out. Have not heard back from anyone. I even tried to give them more business by asking about adding to our order and neither Jeff or Katheryn will call me back. I finally received a call that my items were ready and they want to charge me 30% for delivery. I told them that our rep gave us a 10% figure, but since that person no longer works there I was basically told there's nobody there to reprimand.. They didn't call with a time estimate, and when I call customer service they have no answers. So I don't even know if they will show up or not. After searching for a new couch, we ended up at Mathis Brothers. Very good selection and awesome pricing! Unfortunately the couch we chose was stuck in the ports and was delayed. We are patient so we waited for delivery which took place late November 2021. Within a week we noticed that one of the cushions had a seam that was separating. No worries we thought, it's brand new and we purchased the "Protectall" "full coverage" warranty. After a bunch of pictures and review, they have decided to NOT fix a brand new couch with a seam that is separating and say it is normal wear and tear. Can't stress how disappointed we are! read more
