*WARNING* Mati Coffee in Elk Grove Village & its owner Luca are scamming & ripping of its customers in violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud & Deceptive Practices Act (815 ILCS 505/1), making negligent & intentional misrepresentations to its customers & committing (common law) fraud upon its customers. My Jura A9 coffee machine displayed an "Error 8 message" on the display which means the internal brew group is jammed, blocked, or unable to return to its home position. The primary causes are stuck coffee grounds, a dry/worn brew group mechanism, or a faulty drain valve. Both the manufacturer, Jura, & Mati Coffee told me the Jura machine has to be disassembled, the stuck coffee grounds have to be cleaned out from inside the machine, & the mechanical parts inside the unit have to be lubricated. After the Error 8 message appeared several times, the machine would not power up. Mati Coffee told me it would charge a $90 Diagnostic fee to inspect our Jura. On 07/28/26, we dropped our Jura off at Matti Coffee. Mati Coffee charged our credit card $150, not $90 as we were told the charge would be. Despite us asking, Mati Coffee refused to provide us with a credit card machine payment slip showing the charge Mati Coffee charged to our credit card & claimed they don't have the ability to give a credit card slip. On 8/3/26, when Mati Coffee called me to tell me they cannot repair our Jura, upon my inquiry, I discovered for the very first time that Mati Coffee had created a "drop-of receipt," however, AT NO TIME did Mati Coffee ever give us a copy of this "receipt." On 08/03/26, I requested this "receipt" be emailed to me and discovered this receipt does NOT state the cost of the estimated repair is $150 but rather states "A non-refundable $90 -$150 Diagnostic Fee for Household &/or Commercial Machine. Applied toward labor cost if agreed to repair." A non-refundable Diagnostic fee that is somewhere between $90 & $150 does not automatically mean the charge, at the time of drop-off, before an inspection is performed, is $150.00. Mati Coffee would NOT know that the Diagnostic is $90, or $150, or somewhere in between $90 & $150 BEFORE it even performs an inspection of the machine. Had I known in advance that Mati Coffee was going to charge a non-refundable Diagnostic Fee of $150 instead of $90, we would not have taken our Jura to Mati Coffee. Also, on 08/03/2026, a Mati Coffee employee told me that Mati Coffee could not repair our Jura because parts that were needed for the repair are no longer available & certain parts are only available from the manufacturer that Mati Coffee can't get. By failing to disclose this to us, Mati Coffee deprived us of an opportunity to make a fully informed decision as to whether we wanted to proceed. Had Mati Coffee disclosed this, we would not have taken our Jura to Mati Coffee. Also, Mati Coffee never bothered to open our Jura & clean out the machine of stuck coffee grounds, as is required to be done with an Error 8 message. When picking up our Jura on 8/04/2026, an employee said to me "let me get you the diagnostic sheet showing exactly what the problem is with your Jura," however, this diagnostic sheet (dated 08/03/2026) does NOT show any diagnosis as to what Matti Coffee allegedly found when it allegedly performed a diagnostic inspection of our Jura. This proves that Mati Coffee never performed a Diagnostic inspection of our Jura, yet, it fraudulently charged me $150 Diagnostic fee. After arriving home, I discovered that the inside of the machine still had a significant amount of coffee grinds stuck inside of the machine, so much so that coffee grinds spilled out from the inside of the bottom of the machine onto the counter & there was also coffee beans still stuck in the grinder. This proves that Mati Coffee failed to clean the stuck coffee grinds inside of the machine, which is required to be done for an Error 8 message. To further show Mati Coffee failed to clean out the stuck coffee grounds from inside the machine, the coffee removable bin that catches used grinded coffee beans inside a Jura machine (ie. coffee grinds container) was stuck & jammed inside the Jura machine when I dropped off the machine to Mati Coffee & was still stuck & jammed in the machine when Mati Coffee returned the machine to me which would make it impossible to clean the stuck coffee grinds from inside of the Jura. Mati Coffee took no action in attempt to inspect, diagnose, clean & repair the machine, yet, fraudulently charged me a $150 diagnostic fee. I spoke to the owner of Mati Coffee, Luca, in attempt to amicably resolve this matter, however, Luca was extremely rude & unprofessional, repeatedly interrupted & talked over me, & refused to answer my questions. Do not take your machine to Mati Coffee unless you want to be scammed & ripped off. In reply to the owners response, Mati Coffee's "Diagnostic report" is completely blank - no diagnosis of the machine was ever made. read more

They are familiar with all types of high end machines. You bring your machine in. You provide an idea of its issues. However, after about 8 months of usage the same issue happened again. I only give MATI coffee 4 stars instead of 5 because of this. It is frustrating that it didn't last longer. I recently had my Rocket Appartamento start over-pressurizing. Rather than ship my machine all the way back to Seattle Coffee Gear I decided to look for a local repair shop. Mati Coffee came at the recommendation of an espresso Facebook group member. Mati was able to take in my machine with no advanced notice and have it diagnosed within 72 hours. They sent me a detail quote including maintenance services and had it repaired within 24 hours of me accepting the quote. My machine is at home working again and I couldn't be happier! I have had ths machine for 7 years and have taken very good care of it but the steaming wand needed to be replaced after years of use. The repair people know what they're doing and find all of the problems (even the ones I forgot to tell them about) and fix them without it costing an arm and a leg. Professional, Great customer service, fast repairs on this complex machine - only a week or less, every time. -As far as the nice machine (purchased elsewhere $2400, before I knew of MATI) Ive had for about 8yrs... no issues during the Delonghi 2yr warranty, these SuperAutomatic machines are great, but... I'm a little disappointed how often it needs service. A few Capos a day & every yr or so, there is an issue. Usually $300+. So, I guess it's like those nice cars which needs $$$ervice, often; speaking of which, there's another problem & it was just serviced 2mo ago. I thought maybe another new Milk container assembly ($60). So I ordered one from MATI. Just tried it out, it's not the problem. So, looks like another trip‍. ---HOWEVER... I did not have a good experience at Mati Coffee. On July 20, 2020, I took my Gaggia machine in because the Brew Group would not stay in the machine and the machine leaked water. I was willing to pay the $85.00 to have them look at the machine to determine if the machine was worth fixing. I had a verbal agreement that I would be told if the machine would be worth repairing after the technician looked at it. On July 28, 2020, I was called to say the repair could be done and I chose to proceed and I picked the machine up the next day, On July 30, 2020, the machine's Brew Group popped out again during it's cycling process when the machine was first turned on. I called Mati Coffee and they had me drive back and wait for the machine while the technician made the repair. I was there for two hours. On August 5, 2020, the machine broke again as water poured onto my counter top. On August 6, 2020, I returned to Mati Coffee to drop off the machine and was asked to leave it so the technician could have the machine for a longer period of time. On August 13, 2020, I picked up my machine. On August 14, 2020, my machine broke again. I wrote an email to Mati Coffee stating that I lived 40 miles away and that to drive back to Mati Coffee FOR A FIFTH TIME, to drop off my machine, drive home, wait a week, drive back to pick it up, was ridiculous. I asked for a refund and was told no refunds were given and that is why they have a three month warranty. I decided to cut my losses and not return. I do not have the faith that the machine can be fixed and I am not willing to continue to put the miles on my car to have them make another attempt at the repair. read more

My beloved Gaggia Brera espresso machine stopped functioning and so did I! Having had an excellent past experience with Mati Coffee, I made the 40 minute drive. The intake process was quick, with promise of a diagnosis and price to repair (which included a descaling and tune-up) within a reasonable time (I forgot how many days), and then a days turnaround once I gave the OK to proceed with the repair. This is not acceptable. Your company has failed to take responsibility for a faulty repair and now you expect me to drive for several hours - to drop off a machine that you very easily could have picked up. I can imagine the internal discussion you and your colleagues must have had... digging your heels on on a ridiculous point and I am sure it's a big laugh. I cannot recommend Mati's coffee enough! The owner, Luca, and his staff were so friendly and they went above and beyond to help repair our sentimental old DeLonghi coffee machine. I am from Cleveland, Ohio, and they were the closest certified repair service available. We drove to Chicago to visit family, so we were able to bring our beloved machine to Mati's. When we told them that we had driven all the way in from Cleveland and were only in town for a few days, they jumped into action. Within less than 24 hours, our machine was as good as new, having received several replacement parts and having been thoroughly cleaned and renovated.
