My husband was too quick for me!! Darn

Amazing service and I felt like I was back on the island!! I had the #7 and the my husband had the combo. The Mac salad was so good and the salad please pass me the recipe for the dressing. My husbands combo was yummy. The chicken had a yummy smoky bbq flavor and the beef was super tender. He also had a side of beef rib- one rib. Wow it was huge and the meet fell off the bone. Jeannie... was so helpful with the menu decision making. So many choices. Great place and good location. Thank you Jeannie I've been missing Hawaii and this hit the spot. Aloha!!

I know one of the owners! ;) I could smell the food as soon as we got out of my truck!

Ok! This place is delicious! They have so many options but one of my favs was the SPAM MUSUBI with macaroni salad inside (not sure that's on the menu, maybe it was specially made for us because I now know one of the owners! lol! But you have to try it! Just get a side of macaroni salad and stuff that in your mouth after a bite of the Musubi, ya know?) The PORK BUN was perfectly soft and mouthwatering! The KALUA PORK and CABBAGE made me feel healthy because you need to eat veggies, ya know? But it was so savory, especially with their island sauce! Ohhhh! I forgot to take a pic of their KALBI sample! (It's starting to make me drool again! My son and I devoured that so fast!) Don't forget their dessert! Omg! Pineapple DOLE soft serve!!! Gotta save room for that!!! My son gave it a 10/10! I'm giving it 5 stars for the service, the taste, the cleanliness, the vibes and I can't wait to come back! Maybe I'll see y'all there! Xoxo

My daughter wanted to try here, so I picked up some take out for her. She ordered the chicken and beef bowl and it was great. The beef portion was okay, but she loved how they did the chicken. The rice was well cooked and delicious. Will visit again. Please note it is a small eatery, but worth the trip.

After picking up my family from LAX and heading down the 405, I remembered about Matiki Island BBQ from Instagram in Huntington Beach and knew that this is the perfect place to pickup some popping deliciousness!!! I wasn't disappointed!!! Conveniently located about 8-10 minutes off of the 405, it was worth going there. It was a warm summer day, and we had our windows up with our air conditioning blowing hard and fast. I pulled into the parking spot, turned off the car and when I rolled the windows down (we were taking our meals to go and family wanted to wait in the car) my senses were immediately hit with the aroma of Onolicious Island BBQ!!! Oooooh!!! It was so tantalizing!!! The restaurant was clean and bright. The service was excellent and friendly. The simple menu was displayed on monitors that kept refreshing but the photos were so scintillating (maybe slow the refresh rate so we can pique our already salivating appetite) that I had difficulty trying to decide what to order. However, what impressed me most from the Instagram photos were the beef ribs and that was what I ordered. I ordered 2 for myself (1 for later) to go. It's the #1 Sam's Plate. I could smell the beef ribs in the car as we continued home. The backseat passengers, however, went ahead to devour the plates they ordered. One comment was, "the beef is so tender, so perfectly done, you can eat the fat off the bone." As I drove, I pushed the gas pedal down just a little bit more to get closer to home so it would be my turn to eat!!! After playing bell hop and unloading the car of the luggages, it was finally my turn to eat. I was so hungry that I skipped going to the toilet because I could smell and see my plates waiting for me!!! The meat was indeed tender, having a nice balanced flavor and texture very different from a regular Texas style BBQ. The meat basically was released gently by the bone to enter my mouth and fill it with a tasty experience that I've never had before. Broke 'da mout!!! Definitely a winner!!! The Mac salad was also delicious, not overpowered by mayonnaise and the rice was perfect. At first, I thought a nice shiitake mushroom sauce would compliment the beef ribs, but, why should I spoil perfection? I sincerely recommend the beef ribs!!! Thank you to its namesake for providing Onolicious food since 1996. I will be back to try the Kalbi ribs. Hmmmm!!! By the way they cater. I wish there was a Matiki Island BBQ in Escondido!!! I'm looking forward to Part 2 later tonight!!! And the price that I paid for the #1 was $16.75. This Yelp listing shows $19.95. I wonder why?

Matiki had changed a lot since I remembered going here. Prices have shot up and food portions have dwindled down to just three bones. The green salad tasted stale and the beef ribs were super tough. The meat tasted like it had been cooked the day before and left sitting (it was cooked through and not red, but just tough). I used to love going to Matiki BBQ by the beach and getting some bbq while on the beach, but sadly I don't think I'll be coming here ever again.

I have been to this place a couple of times and I was introduced to this place by my room mate. I have ordered the beef rib plate and it's so delicious. I'm glad that this place doesn't have the cabbage compare to other Hawaiian restaurants because I do not really care for it. The macaroni salad is seasoned perfectly. My daughter is a picky eater and she loves the spam musibi here. I do love the quality of the food and the amount of food I get for the price. The only concern is the wait time. The recent time I was there I felt like I waited over 25-30 minutes. It's not a deal breaker for me but if I'm ever in a hurry then this is not the place to go.

I've been to the Maitiki in Anaheim, Fullerton (my fav) and now the HB location. I would not come back here. The service is a 1/10. The portions of rice are way smaller. I've never had to order a side of rice to go with my food. I first called to check if they were open because the other locations were closed today. The lady answered rudely that they're independent. I'm like okay.... So already I had bad vibes from here. I'll stick to the Fullerton and Anaheim locations. This is not the Maitiki experience I'm used to. I'm not satisfied at all!

Great meal! Ordered the Beef Rib plate and it was terrific. For the price, that's an awesome value - 3 tasty beef ribs, a couple scoops of sticky rice, and a salad. Friendly service. Low key, but already want to go back! Also - Dole Whip!

Matiki island bbq is one of my favorite Hawaiian bbq place. When ever I work near it, I make sure to come by for lunch. My go to order is the Sam Plate. It is absolutely delicious. The sam plate comes with 4 huge beef ribs, 1 scoop of mac salad and 2 scoop of rice. I normally phone call in for togo, and just eat some of it there. It is so good that i ate it 2x a week for a month period. If you have a family, I recommend ordering the big kahuna, it comes with teriyaki chicken, grilled teriyaki beef & Kalbi short ribs served with rice, macaroni salad & tossed green salad.

This spot can really fluctuate depending on how meaty your ribs are that day, but I came on a good day. I made an order for #1 Beefy Ribs Plate ($14.25). All plates come with two scoops of rice and your choice of macaroni salad or tossed salad. The beefy ribs come in 5 hefty bones and are well-seasoned and charred for good flavor. The rice and mac salad really compliments every bite. It was a very filling and delicious meal. Tip: don't bother sharing the plate because it's that good!

Restaurant is simple. Good food and good service. The lady is very nice. Friendly employee. Got the beef plate with triple mac salad. Delicious. $26 including tip. A bit expensive. Love their music. Great jams. I would definitely come back here.

My boyfriend and I were craving Hawaiian but didn't know any spots near by so we have this place a shot. Thank goodness we did because it was 10/10 in flavor, freshness, service, and quality. Please give this place a try if you haven't already

    Chris Y.

I love coming to this place header the number seven it's further pricey but you get a lot of food you get a full meal that was here was wonderful. The wait time was lesson 10 minutes. I'd say I'd come right back and I'm going to.

I ordered my usual, which was a three piece boneless spicy garlic chili peppa chicken (CPC) plate and their generous kitchen was so kind to hook me up. I love coming here because their staff is always so friendly and the food is incredible. Their Mac salad is out of this world and their steamed rice is oh so fluffy. If I remember correctly, I think they might also have a garlic shrimp offering as well that was equally yummy, but it's been a minute, so you'll have to double check with the staff directly. Parking lot is shared in a small strip lot, so it might be tough, but it's worth the drive and wait. You can call your order in or place it online. For a $16 poke bowl, I guess I was expecting a bit more fish. Also, the rice had a sour ish taste (according to me). The Roots plate quantity was solid but the short rib was very chewy. Definitely a preference thing but chewy short rib is not my jam. The flavors were good though. There wasn't much of a service aspect to our experience cause we took our meal to go. Unfortunately was a bit disappointed as the food didn't hit the mark but very open to trying again in the future.

My cousin recommended this place to me during my last visit to Huntington Beach. He was very positive as well as satisfied with the food and the service of North Shore Poke. Their overall service was undoubtedly very good, but the taste and quality of the food were the only aspects that left me disappointed! I went to North Shore Poke Co. for lunch on March 28, 2026 after my visit to Huntington Beach. The place was moderately crowded the time I got in. The interior is nicely designed, capturing a traditional Hawaiian vibe. I chose the custom poke bowl - a small bowl with Rice and Salad, topped with three Hawaiian sauces (Traditional Shoyu, Spicy Mayo, and Spicy Shoyu), along with Ahi Tuna, Salmon, and extras like Cucumber, Masago, and Furikake. I also added Fresh Spicy Tuna and Seaweed Salad, which cost an additional $4.50! What disappointed me most was being charged for the Seaweed Salad, as many other poke spots typically include it as a complimentary topping. Their service was fast, and my small poke bowl was served within 5 minutes. The portion size felt underwhelming, considering the price I paid. The taste was also below average. They claim that their fish is "Fresh", my poke bowl unfortunately didn't reflect that. Most concerning of all, the Fresh Spicy Tuna seemed spoiled and had a very unpleasant smell! When I informed them, they promptly replaced the Fresh Spicy Tuna with Blue Crab. But by that time, I had lost my appetite due to the incident and could barely finish my poke bowl. North Shore Poke Co. might be one of the top poke spots in Huntington Beach, but I would still rank The Poke Place in Rancho Cucamonga and Ahipoki Bowl in Rialto well above it. Most likely I'm not coming back to this place again!

My friend ordered the Loco Moco and at first I was going to get a two item lunch plate with pork belly and beef but I decided against the plate. Instead I placed an order of their pork belly fries and spam fried rice. The Loco Moco was solid. The burger patty was cooked evenly, well seasoned and eggs over easy on top with gravy that wasn't salty. I love the Spam fried rice but my friend though it tasted too sweet. I think all the ingredients complimented well together. The spam, onions, and other veggies. The pork belly definitely gave a unique flavor to the pork belly fries. Both my friend and I agree that even though the pork belly tasted good it was a bit dry. The fries were above average. I would get the Loco Moco and Spam fried rice again but skip the pork belly fries. The service was friendly and my only complaint is that it is a small place. From the start, the service was excellent and easily one of the highlights of our visit. The cashier was exceptionally kind and even apologized for the wait, generously applying his employee discount to our order to make up for it. Despite the initial delay, our food was ready within 10 minutes. **Spam Brûlée Musubi: 5/5** Nestled between layers of freshly steamed rice, the grilled spam was coated in a glossy teriyaki-style glaze. Creamy kimchi aioli was drizzled on top, while the brûléed brown sugar formed a thin caramelized crust that added a pleasant sweetness and delicate crunch with each bite. It was so good that we ended up getting a second order. **Hot Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken Sandwich: 5/5** This sandwich featured incredibly crispy panko-fried chicken that remained tender and juicy beneath its golden crust, smothered in hot kimchi butter that provided a subtle acidity and gentle heat. A touch of brûléed brown sugar introduced a sweet contrast to the savory fried chicken, while the kimchi aioli and macaroni salad brought a mellow creaminess that balanced its richness. Rounding out the sandwich was the Hawaiian bun, which was soft and moist yet nicely toasted on the exterior. **Hot Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken & Katsu Shrimp Mixed Plate: 5/5** The mixed plate was another standout, combining their signature chopped katsu chicken with lightly battered shrimp drenched in hot kimchi butter. The shrimp had a light crispness that gave way to a succulent, snappy bite, while the sauce delivered a bold, umami-forward flavor. Accompanying the proteins were rice and their house-made macaroni salad, which incorporated shredded tuna and mashed hard-boiled eggs into a mayonnaise-based dressing finished with a sprinkle of paprika. These additions elevated an otherwise unassuming side with unexpected depth and complexity. Between the outstanding hospitality and impressive execution, Shootz exceeded expectations across the board, earning its place as my go-to whenever I'm at Rodeo 39.

Craving some Hawaiian food and not a lot of sit down locations, I thought we would try this old staple. The service was excellent and the staff was very helpful. The seating was outside and comfortable for what it's worth. I think my mom enjoyed watching all of the passer Byers with their dogs, but when it came to her meal, I could tell she was not enjoying it as much as I thought she would. She ordered the kalua pork and felt it lacked a bit of flavor. Which I was sorry to hear. As for my combo of Korean beef and island style fried chicken, it was a bit over done. Now I typically would eat it with a pair of hashi, but I had a plastic fork that had a hard time piercing the crust of the chicken. Flavor was not bad, but not as savory as I remembered. The beef was well seasoned, but a little tough. The Mac salad was a little heavy on the pepper too. Now I believe it would be worth another try, but wished it was as good as I had remembered in the past. Again, it could have been just a bad day.
