No Ka Oí is a fun Hawaiian restaurant and bar with plenty of seating both indoors and outside. The place has a very local feel, with TVs everywhere and a good mix of people hanging out, watching sports, eating, and having a drink. We ordered the Sumo Moco Loco, and it was a massive portion that could easily feed two people. The food was really good and definitely hit the spot. We also had the katsu chicken, which comes with the sauce already on it. The sauce was a little sweeter than I normally prefer, so next time I'd order it on the side so I can control how much goes on the chicken. The unexpected highlight was the cinnamon roll. It was buttery, soft, and cooked perfectly. Honestly, it was so good that I'd come back just for that. Our server was also great. She was friendly, attentive, and did an excellent job handling what looked like a lot of tables without making us feel ignored. During my most recent visit to Huntington, I was craving teriyaki chicken and my husband was craving poke, so we were stoked to find this restaurant to try. They have so many items on their menu, it's hard to choose because everything they offer sounds and looks great. I did switch up to the Huli Huli chicken (a favorite of mine) with mac salad and rice. My husband did stick to the spicy ahi tuna bowl. We also ordered a POG juice to split (another favorite of mine). Everything was fantastic! The food was so good I probably could have cried I was so happy. My husband's spicy ahi tuna bowl was delicious especially the freshness of the tuna. Had an absolutely incredible time here yesterday for the 4th! Was greeted by Charles when I got a seat at the bar. Super cool, laid back, and chill dude who was super attentive from the beginning. However, it was not just him. The entire staff was working together as a team and they handled everything with ease considering they were slammed for the holiday. They were patient with everyone despite how busy they were. Caitlyn, Teresa, Joshua, Dawn, Luke, Brian, Grace, & Amanda absolutely rocked it! I was in the area for work reasons. I am not a Huntington Beach local but every time I go back, I am reminded how much I love this city. Everyone made me feel like I was home. I did not order food, but from what I could tell - the kitchen was busy and all their options looked amazing from what I saw being put out there. She saw her friend Charlie was working and he was our server. He was pretty laid back and friendly. My friend ordered us the edamame as an appetizer and it was really good. It took a while for it to arrive, but when it did, it was hot, spicy, and garlicky. It was pan fried with some really yummy spices. As for entrees, I ordered the Aloha Bowl with tofu and my friend ordered the same but with broccoli beef. It also comes with 2 fried vegetable spring rolls. My tofu bowl full of flavor and decently sized too. The spring rolls were a nice addition and were fried well done. I would order the tofu bowl again. Ambience wasn't too busy and the general feel I get from the place is that they are super laid back and run on island time, if you know what I mean. It was slow and not that much people inside the restaurant but we barely got help. It took some time to flag someone down for a knife for my pancakes. The food was mehh as well. So, if you already been to Sugar Shack for their Sausage Egg and Cheddar Breakfast Burrito, then head next door to No Ka Oi for the Eggs Benedict. Adding a star to my updated review, because brunch at No Ka Oi was excellent today! They have generous portions, and food was cooked to perfection this morning. I ordered their egg florentine, which was delicious. I love the way they poach their eggs. Hubbie had had their corned beef hash, which was so good! Their corned beef is nice and chunky, with a right amount of crisp. My daughter had their seafood enchilada, which looked delicious as well. Do not be deceived by the name. "No ka oi" translates to "the best". Every spot in Hawaii makes an excellent corned beef hash with gravy over it. So if you're an Hawaiian restaurant, you should have great corned beef hash. What i ordered was the worst corned beef hash I've ever had in my life. The corned beef hash in a can is better than what they served. The food had no flavor, it was served cold, the potatoes were the size of blocks that I used to play with in kindergarten, and there was barely any corned beef on the dish. I would give the food 0 stars if I could. We waited over an hour to eat here as well, so it was definitely not worth it. The service was decent he did the best he could for it being busy. the server moved with a sense of urgency. He did give us a small discount us for waiting so long and it was still expensive. As far as the ambiance, the place has outdoor seating so you're eating under a tarp. There are a bunch of flys around, they do have fly traps but it doesn't work. My first time here and the service was good. I tried the Eggs Benedict (classic) as I often do at restaurants. However, I didn't care for the hollandaise sauce at all. Much tangier than I'm used to. I had to pick around it. I also went with the hash browns but should have gotten the crisp potatoes like my wife. She got the chorizo Benedict and the chorizo tasted great along with the potatoes. Went on a Sunday morning and sat in the back patio. Ordered a Loco Moco and the meat came out not cooked! Waited for awhile to get the waiter's attention and told her. She just took it a way with saying nothing! When she returned nothing said like "sorry about that" and just put the plate down. Well half of the hamburger patty was cooked but still real pink on one side. Waitress never came back to ask. The gravy had no flavor and actually the meat didn't either. So won't go back for that. My friend took me here for my birthday breakfast. I was going to tease her I wanted to go to ihop instead, but I'm glad I didn't because this was delicious. Ample seating if you come early aa there's a front patio on the street, interior dining and an outside back patio too. A little pricey, but worth it. Fast friendly service and very enjoyable experience other than the fact people are allowed to bring dogs. One couple's dogs were very territorial and probably should have been left at home because it almost started a fight it was so aggressive. That's the only reason I lowered the stars. It made it very uncomfortable and for the safety of the other customers, the first time the dog acted up they should have been removed. Too dangerous. Otherwise, very nice experience with the other better trained dogs and the heat lamps were nice too. The food is ample and delicious. I don't know what else to say. A group of eight of us came here for Father's Day brunch and sat in the back. Charles was our server and even though it was extremely busy, he was helpful and quick to get our drinks out. We had a few appetizers and then left. My boyfriend found that he had a message on Facebook around 9pm from Charles that he had left his wallet there. Charles took the time to look on Facebook and find my boyfriend's contact information. Charles went above and beyond. We came back this morning (Monday) to get the wallet and have breakfast. I had the Kalua Pua'a Benedict - Wow! This was excellent. I asked the waiter that the eggs not be runny. The cooks made it perfectly! I've asked this of other restaurants, but sometimes they just don't cook it thoroughly. I know, I know, benedict is supposed to have runny eggs. I was thankful that the cooks were able to cook the eggs a bit longer as per my request.
