Not much has changed the parking lot is still small and crammed. Service is on and off, hot and cold, friendly/ not friendly. Tons of spacious seating inside. The music will be loud so be ready I'm glad the workers can enjoy the music hope it helps them enjoy their work day. The food takes a while to cook 10+ mins I definitely recommend ordering ahead on the phone. Also recommend checking your order opening the boxes up before you leave we are all humans and can make mistakes. The rice is too mushy and the meat isn't consistent if these were fixed it would be a 5/5 for me. But what helps save the day is the flavors from the meat and their sauce. They are everything that makes me keep coming back to this place. The sauce is amazing sweet, salty, savory, addicting goodness I need them to sell it in a bottle I want to put it on everything. My go to orders are #1 ribs plate and #4 beef plate with rice and mac salad. These two meals are huge and can last me up to 2 full meals for a family of 3. First time trying this spot and it did not disappoint! I ordered #7 Beef and Short Ribs with salad and mac salad. Very generous portions. The ribs were sooo juicy and tender with a nice char. The beef was a lil chewier in comparison so I think next time I'll stick with just the short ribs plate. Came on a weeknight for late dinner but the food was ready for pickup within 7 mins. Next time, I will only order the beef rib plate. The kalbi was a bit disappointing on the other hand. Kalbi was thin and dry, very chewy as well. Manapua was dry and the dough on the outside was a bit hard to bite into. Those are the only reasons why I can't give 5 stars. Little hidden gem! We got the beef and short rib combo with green salad. Green salad and rice were fresh, salad dressing was yummy, and the short ribs were SSSOOOOOO GOOOOODDDDDD. I also love that they have a bottle of thin teriyaki sauce, I think it is, available at the tables. The beef was ok. Would probably skip on that next time and just order up on the short ribs. I was surprised by her response because I mentioned to her when she ask me if it's for here or to go that told her kindly place it in a to go bag bag for I won't be able to finish it. I believed she's the owner or maybe a relative of the owner but nonetheless she should be more courteous to their loyal customers. We came here after a friend's recommendation and his blurry memory of it being one of the best Hawaiian restaurants he's been to. You can tell it's a very popular restaurant. We got the: 1) Beef Rib Plate (Sam's Plate): -This is THE DISH you have to order form here. -It comes with macaroni salad and rice. -It's teriyaki BBQ beef ribs charred to perfection. That's not something you get very often at other restaurants since they have a full ridged (don't know what it's called) grill and not just the flat top. -Delicious smoky flavor, meat is super moist and tender. The fatty bits are super indulgently delicious as well. Must get every single time. 2) Kalua Pork Plate: -Also comes with rice and mac salad. -Super moist and flavorful pork, very wet and perfect to balance out the ribs dish that we got. Comes with a LOT of cabbage though and at first we thought it wasn't worth it, but all the pork is underneath so no worries! The mac salad is truly the king of mac salads. Love pork Manapua, which was totally different than I expected. It had a mushy pork paste consistency. Not a fan and the SPAM misubi either, lacked any flavor.
