Stopped here for some hawaiian bbq and was not disappointed! I got the galbi combo, and the meat was very flavorful and portions were very generous. The mac salad was pretty standard.

My husband loves this place so we keep coming back because we love a supportive wife and also my toddler son likes it and that's says a lot if a 3 year old picky eater wants to eat here then how can I say no? Not much has changed the parking lot is still small and crammed. Service is on and off, hot and cold, friendly/ not friendly. Tons of spacious seating inside. The music will be loud so be ready I'm glad the workers can enjoy the music hope it helps them enjoy their work day. The food takes a while to cook 10+ mins I definitely recommend ordering ahead on the phone. Also recommend checking your order opening the boxes up before you leave we are all humans and can make mistakes. The rice is too mushy and the meat isn't consistent if these were fixed it would be a 5/5 for me. But what helps save the day is the flavors from the meat and their sauce. They are everything that makes me keep coming back to this place. The sauce is amazing sweet, salty, savory, addicting goodness I need them to sell it in a bottle I want to put it on everything. My go to orders are #1 ribs plate and #4 beef plate with rice and mac salad. These two meals are huge and can last me up to 2 full meals for a family of 3. If your craving Hawaiian bbq come here also satisfies my kbbq cravings too so a win is a win. Pro tip if you have ripe avocados at home cut it up and add it to your meal you won't regret it!

First time trying this spot and it did not disappoint! I ordered #7 Beef and Short Ribs with salad and mac salad. Very generous portions. The ribs were sooo juicy and tender with a nice char. The beef was a lil chewier in comparison so I think next time I'll stick with just the short ribs plate. Came on a weeknight for late dinner but the food was ready for pickup within 7 mins. Service was super quick and friendly and the vibes were great in there. Looks like there's plenty of seating if you want to dine in as well. Will definitely come back next time I'm craving ribs!

My friend and I were craving hawaiian food and had heard a lot of people rave about Matiki so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the beef rib plate and short rib plate, both with rice and mac salad. The beef rib was flavorful and had a generous amount of meat on it but it was a little dry. The short rib was on the fattier side, which made it really tasty but it was a bit sweeter than I personally prefer. The mac salad was pretty standard and didn't really stand out. I did appreciate that each plate came with a side of sauce and there was definitely no shortage of meat. We actually ended up with leftovers because the portions were so generous. I was a little surprised that an extra mac salad came with an additional charge, but considering the portion sizes the overall value still felt fair. The service was friendly and quick, and the restaurant itself was simple and clean. We enjoyed the meal and can see why people like this place. The portions were generous and it's a solid option if you're craving hawaiian food.

Let me just start off by saying the doesn't lack any flavor I had the Beef rib plate. Only thing I can say is the rice and Mac. Portions are small . Besides that everything else was on point

Ordered: - Kalbi plate - side of beef ribs - manapua (pork) Wow woww i HIGHLY suggest the beef ribs here. It was so tender, flavorful, and fell off the bone. Next time, I will only order the beef rib plate. The kalbi was a bit disappointing on the other hand. Kalbi was thin and dry, very chewy as well. Manapua was dry and the dough on the outside was a bit hard to bite into. Those are the only reasons why I can't give 5 stars. Will be back again for the beef rib plate & to try out the soft serve icecream. Service: 5/5, lady at register was kind and patient with explaining the menu. Atmosphere: 5/5, can get pretty crowded but there are many seats inside. Lots of parking outside too. TLDR; beef ribs worth the hype! skip kalbi and manapua.

Mac Salad : 8/10 needs green onions Chicken: 8/10 Short Ribs: 9/10 Side if Beef Rib: 10/10 This place is pretty solid. Not a place I would dine in at given the location. I payed $32.74 for my order. Overall, Everything was very delicious. I'm just disappointed they don't put green onions in their Mac salad as advertised. I advise pouring the Matiki sauce over the Mac salad and rice to give it way more flavor. Also the charge for extra Matiki Sauce is a bit absurd given the prices we are already paying.

10/10 recommend!! The food is absolutely amazing. Expect to spend about 20 per plate! When we visited, there was a lot of delivery order which made the place a little packed, but the staff got the orders out quick! The food is delicious and authentic.

This is a very iykyk hawaiian spot. The beef BBQ is a little dry but it taste fine once paired with their house-made sauce. The short ribs is what you want: great smoky and savory flavor that tastes even better with their sauce. Mac salad is also amazing -- I wish they gave more tbh The lady who works the front may come off as a little rude but she is a kind person. Seating is plentiful and spacious with a Hawaiian aesthetic. Definitely worth grabbing lunch here.

Delicious food! Can't wait to eat from this restaurant again. Parking was a little hard to get, the place was busy and the places next door were also busy. Overall everything was so good. Got the Sam's Plate with mac. The lady was very nice, place was busy, phone wouldn't stop ringing, worth the drive and wait. (I actually placed my order by phone to go on the way there so didn't wait long)

Tried Matiki Island BBQ in Anaheim on a Saturday after hearing great things from a coworker. You can see the smoke from behind the restaurant where they're grilling, which gives it that authentic vibe. We ordered the Big Kahuna plate (about $40 with tax) -- it's a big portion with chicken, ribs, and beef. Unfortunately, they were out of musubis around 2 p.m., which was a bummer. The food was okay but a bit dry, and the beef and chicken had a lot of nerves, making it a little tough to eat. The ribs were fatty and the mac salad was super heavy on the mayo. Overall, not terrible but not worth the hype or price. I've had better Hawaiian food elsewhere (like Maui's in Brea). Maybe it just depends on the day, but I probably wouldn't go back.

Good food and a chill place to eat. The plates are big and everything tastes fresh. The chicken and short ribs were really tender and had great flavor. The macaroni salad was solid too, not too heavy. The service was friendly, and the food came out pretty quick. Prices are fair for how much food you get. The place isn't fancy, but it has a relaxed island vibe -- simple décor, clean tables, and music that makes it feel warm and casual. I'd definitely go back, especially when I'm craving Hawaiian BBQ.

Has anyone ordered catering from Matiki? I was wondering how many beef ribs per tray or approximately how many it serves. Thank you

I believe 3 but if you ask for extra meat they will give u 5 or 6 I believe

What ingredients are in your Mac salad? I have someone allergic to tuna and I know some Hawaiian places mix their Mac salads with tuna.

For sure NO tuna in it... I know this for sure because my son is allergic to seafood and he had it with no issues. I hope this helps.

Do u make butter fish dish?

I didn't see Butterfish as a menu option on my last visit about a month ago.

Holy moly! Did the prices here almost double?!

Holy moly did we all just go through (still going through) a pandemic!?

    Do they offer catering portions?

Yes they d at both locations, just let them know ahead of time

Any plans to make your food available to order through Ubereats/grubhub/ect?

They have it available at DoorDash and Postmates

When is the Fullerton location on Harbor Blvd going to open?

It is now open as of today.

    When is Fullerton location opening?

    Supposedly in October.

    Is there gluten in this?

They use a lot of soy sauce in their marinades so if you're very sensitive then you might be affected

    Do you guys sell manapuas?

I don't believe so but I could be wrong.

    Is there air conditioning?

    There's AC now :)

What comes in the big kahuna combo?

Kalbi, beef, chicken, rice, green salad and mac salad

What kind of dressing is on the salad?

It was a simple Asian vinaigrette, maybe rice wine vinegar?

We arrived in the late afternoon and unfortunately they were all out of the malasadas which I planned to get for dessert. My friend ordered the Loco Moco and at first I was going to get a two item lunch plate with pork belly and beef but I decided against the plate. Instead I placed an order of their pork belly fries and spam fried rice. The Loco Moco was solid. The burger patty was cooked evenly, well seasoned and eggs over easy on top with gravy that wasn't salty. I love the Spam fried rice but my friend though it tasted too sweet. I think all the ingredients complimented well together. The spam, onions, and other veggies. The pork belly definitely gave a unique flavor to the pork belly fries. Both my friend and I agree that even though the pork belly tasted good it was a bit dry. The fries were above average. I would get the Loco Moco and Spam fried rice again but skip the pork belly fries. The service was friendly and my only complaint is that it is a small place. There are only a hand full of tables and finding a place to sit and eat would be a challenge during a lunch rush. However, I recommend giving a place a shot if your a fan of Hawaiian food. I already know that I'm coming back for the malasadas.

From the start, the service was excellent and easily one of the highlights of our visit. The cashier was exceptionally kind and even apologized for the wait, generously applying his employee discount to our order to make up for it. Despite the initial delay, our food was ready within 10 minutes. **Spam Brûlée Musubi: 5/5** Nestled between layers of freshly steamed rice, the grilled spam was coated in a glossy teriyaki-style glaze. Creamy kimchi aioli was drizzled on top, while the brûléed brown sugar formed a thin caramelized crust that added a pleasant sweetness and delicate crunch with each bite. It was so good that we ended up getting a second order. **Hot Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken Sandwich: 5/5** This sandwich featured incredibly crispy panko-fried chicken that remained tender and juicy beneath its golden crust, smothered in hot kimchi butter that provided a subtle acidity and gentle heat. A touch of brûléed brown sugar introduced a sweet contrast to the savory fried chicken, while the kimchi aioli and macaroni salad brought a mellow creaminess that balanced its richness. Rounding out the sandwich was the Hawaiian bun, which was soft and moist yet nicely toasted on the exterior. **Hot Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken & Katsu Shrimp Mixed Plate: 5/5** The mixed plate was another standout, combining their signature chopped katsu chicken with lightly battered shrimp drenched in hot kimchi butter. The shrimp had a light crispness that gave way to a succulent, snappy bite, while the sauce delivered a bold, umami-forward flavor. Accompanying the proteins were rice and their house-made macaroni salad, which incorporated shredded tuna and mashed hard-boiled eggs into a mayonnaise-based dressing finished with a sprinkle of paprika. These additions elevated an otherwise unassuming side with unexpected depth and complexity. Between the outstanding hospitality and impressive execution, Shootz exceeded expectations across the board, earning its place as my go-to whenever I'm at Rodeo 39.

Flavours were on point and textures and sizes were pretty decent too. Why 3 stars? It's pretty pricey. For nearly $40+ worth of food, you don't feel like you got a meal out of it. It's hard for me to say if it's "worth it" because they did do a fantastic job with how everything tasted. The only item I was kind of disappointed in was the Korean bbq taco. The meat was smokey and flavorful, but lots of fatty chewy pieces and occasional rare piece. That's me being picky Overall I would recommend as a novelty type place.
