The Loft has been around for a while now, and I have enjoyed many dinners at their other location. Being more of a fast food location, I was still hoping for some good food to have for lunch with my mom. Craving some Hawaiian food and not a lot of sit down locations, I thought we would try this old staple. The service was excellent and the staff was very helpful. The seating was outside and comfortable for what it's worth. I think my mom enjoyed watching all of the passer Byers with their dogs, but when it came to her meal, I could tell she was not enjoying it as much as I thought she would. She ordered the kalua pork and felt it lacked a bit of flavor. Which I was sorry to hear. As for my combo of Korean beef and island style fried chicken, it was a bit over done. Now I typically would eat it with a pair of hashi, but I had a plastic fork that had a hard time piercing the crust of the chicken. Flavor was not bad, but not as savory as I remembered. The beef was well seasoned, but a little tough. The Mac salad was a little heavy on the pepper too. Now I believe it would be worth another try, but wished it was as good as I had remembered in the past. Again, it could have been just a bad day. read more

Food was not good. Cabbage had a strange taste, macaroni salad tasted like tuna fish, and the BBQ chicken had a hard outer crunch on it.

plane and simple the food is delicious! great flavors on the chicken with very friendly staff and the space is also great and homey. the only two issues i had were that the tables felt sticky and the area around it up stairs where pretty dirty mind you it was behind like a fan or picture i think but still very visible so just a little uncomfortable. read more

I'm really still a fan of this place and now that we're getting older, my husband and I can no longer eat a whole plate, so we can share. However my eyes were bigger than my stomach today, so I got two. My husband loves Kalbi and I'm a fan of the Island Fried Chicken .... but my ultimate favorite here is their fried rice. It's THE BEST fried rice IMO, WAY better than I can make!! They charge extra for the fried rice, but it's so worth it and we actually got two meals each from all the food we got for $47 out the door. The cabbage salad isn't as good as I remember and it's basically cabbage and a few piece of raw instant ramen. The dressing is pretty basic too. Seems like a splash of rice vinegar. The potato salad is good and they can call it their own. It's got a substantial amount of black pepper in it, but very unique. read more

I like this place. My husband doesn't as much as I do. I've no idea why and I don't think he has any idea why either. You order at the counter. The counter area is tiny, so if it gets crowded, there's not really much space to stand around. If you eat at the restaurant, you have to walk a flight of stairs and there is seating up there. It can get super hot in the summer time, heat rises, and you're seated above their hot kitchen. The decor is kind of old looking, but reminiscient of Hawaii. They serve spam musubi...I think they need to add Portuguese sausage musubi to the menu and I'd be there all the time! I love their kalua pig, Korean bbq chicken, and teri plates. Last week we had ordered food from "The Loft" and they did not disappoint! Our daughter and son in law got married and we celebrated with Hawaiian food. Our friends and family loved the food. We even got the bacon fried rice along with the Teriyaki chicken, the Korean bbq beef and the kulua pork. And the mac salad and ramen cabbage salad is always a winner! read more

Last review i wrote about this restaurant was 11 years ago and wow times have changed. This place has gone downhill. Bathrooms are gross and the whole restaurant has seen its days for dining in. Im not one to write much reviews on yelp but i had to log on and express my concerns. Chicken Katsu was very disappointing. L&L is alot better. 2 stars for the workers being nice. read more

My family and I ordered the Korean bbq beef and island style fried chicken. Both had so much flavor and huge portions. There was 4 of us and we only got the 2 platters that was the perfect amount of food. We upgraded to bacon fried rice that was super good! The cashier was very friendly and answered our questions we had about the menu. She brought up our food upstairs in the dining area for us too. She gave us all of the extra sauces as well. I went in today and on this hot day it was very warm. Inside was hot and humid, but that is Hawaii right? I was expecting decent customer service but instead I had the cashier looking at her phone appearing to be working so I waited there for a good two minutes for her to finish. I saw her not stopping and based on her giggling gazing on her screen, i now felt compelled to interrupt rather than avoiding to be rude. I simply asked whenever you're ready. I have a question. I always come here, came here today and wanted to leave a review. I called ahead to pick it up immediately, service was friendly and easy. Very clean and nice inside, this location is cool because it has a upstairs! But the food, woah so good for the price, I usually get the beef teriyaki no cabbage extra macaroni salad. If you don't like seafood this mac salad is the bomb! I love it with nothing extra! So yum! Best recipe ever. I'm genuinely unsure how this place gets anything but 5 stars. I first came to the loft a few weeks ago, and I have to say I have picked up food here multiple times since the first time I tried it. Everything about the loft is straight to the point. It's nothing fancy, the ambience is nothing out of the ordinary. But the food is absolutely incredible. I've strangely only gotten take out, but every single time I'm so happy with the food. The chicken katsu is crispy and delicious. The Kalua pork is my personal favorite, and I order it with my meal every time. The cabbage is also my favorite from any Hawaiian place! They actually put pieces of uncooked ramen in the cabbage, which sounds strange but gives it the perfect crunch. The Mac salad also tastes very fresh, and tastes lighter than other Hawaiian restaurants I've visited. Pro tip we also always call in the food. They usually have our order in 10-15 minutes and it's also extremely quick. Love this place so much read more

Unsuspecting good Hawaiian food! Now is this the best? No. I ordered the fried chicken. I upgraded to the spam fried rice, obviously. The cabbage salad is sooo good. Their Mac salad is good as well. It's always been a place for decent, though pricey "Hawaiian" type grub. Over the years there has been a noticeable downslide in quality. This latest time we went made us tap out. We went with the basics. Plate lunch w/teri beef and bowl with chicken teri. Have had both before and never had a complaint. Decent. This time? Whomever concocted the teri sauce made a mistake. The teri sauce was BBQ sauce. Wth. The beef looked abnormal with a taste that matched. The chicken was dry. The cabbage salad was just that - cabbage. And the mac salad came in a tiny container that was about 1.5 bites...small bites. Plus, it took 20 minutes for our food. At the prices they charge here, the food quality has got to be better. Ordered the island fried chicken plate and split with my son. 6 yummy chicken nuggets and dipped them in katsu sauce and their house spicy sauce. This place used to be busy. I went on Friday evening around 6:00 pm. There was one person ordering food. The store was gloomy and very warm inside, probably warmer than it was outside and it was a very hot day. The service was very inviting and the gentleman taking orders was very nice. But, that was all that was nice. I ordered the bacon fried rice which was okay. It could use more flavor. I also ordered the Island fried chicken which was not good at all. It was dry, almost like chicken jerky! It had almost no flavor at all. It seemed like it was once cooked and refried when I ordered it! I can kind of see why there was no more line. read more

After leaving for over 3 yrs I recently returned. Unfortunately, they messed up on my order but Nadia did not hesitate to offer replacement meal. Today, I returned and this time the meal was exactly as I remember from years ago. Tony already knew my pending replacement order and he took was courteous and my order was ready upon arrival. The loft is my favorite Hawaiian food place in Huntington Beach. Their teriyaki sauce is so good. It always feels friendly when you walk in due to their amazing staff. There was one woman working when I went, and even though she was the only one working the front desk, everything came out super quick and she was very personable!! There's indoor and outdoor seating, and this place feels like a quality place to relax and enjoy good food. I would give 5 stars, but had to remove one because they removed my family's favorite dish and it is now cater only, the lumpia :( please bring it back!! Traveling through the area when I got a hankering for Hawaiian food, hit up YELP and was so surprised there are so many Hawaiian restaurants around, fortunately The Loft was closest, so I popped in and ordered my go to meal of Loco Moco- Server was very nice, food delivered hot and fresh to my table outside, the special sauce was amazing, it complemented the beef Pattie's so well. I first tried The Loft at a party that used them for catering. I was instantly amazed at the Kahlua Pork. I feel like nobody really gets it and it looks bland compared to the other entrees filled with sauce but the flavor of the pork is so good!! This is ALWAYS my go-to Hawaiian dish. This last time, I got the Kahlua Pork Plate, my bf got the Chicken Katsu plate, and we got Spam Musubis for the kids (not pictured since the kids devoured them). The plates come with cabbage slaw and macaroni salad. My bf LOVES their macaroni salad...sometimes he'll order a tub of it! No matter, less Winter Hibernation/Quarantine pounds on me. Everything still tastes the same. Island Style Fried Chicken is pretty unique compared to your typical Hawaiian plate lunch place, with the slight sweetness to go along with the crunch. The Mac Salad here is probably among my favorite variations, up there with Auntie Maile's in Torrance and Matiki Island BBQ. $12-15 is the range for most plate lunches and seriously, if you're coming here to eat, don't get a bowl... it's not WaBa Grill or Flame Broiler! I was in the area of OC and wanted some good Hawaiian food. Way way back in the days I use to go to the one in Gardena or Torrance. But anyways I remember the food be wonderful. But this time it was NOT good. I ordered the Island Style Fried chicken, Korean BBQ beef, Bacon fried rice and the Fried Saimin with Chicken Char Siu. The only thing that was good was the Bacon Fried Rice. Island Style Fried Chicken was over cooked and not juicy. Dry for our taste. It comes with 1 scoop of mac salad which was good and 1 scoop of ramen cabbage. The ramen cabbage was more like cabbage and a few tiny pieces of ramen. Wasn't sure if there was a shortage of ramen that day or what. The Fried Saimin had a floural taste. I did not enjoy that at all. Korean BBQ beef was hard. The portions of the place was not worth the cost of the meal. Sucks I use to like this place a lot. Oh well maybe next time... If there is a next time. Parking is in a plaza so you have a lot of parking. The young cashier lady was very helpful over the phone and she was nice in person. That is why this place got a extra star.
