Shady business practices. Asked them, IN WRITING, in both October 2023 and again last week to delete my credit card info from their system or if they can't do that, my user profile entirely. Instead they just opt me out of six months of deliveries, and then once that is done I'm automatically resigned up for another 6 months of deliveries. I am not happy with the product. I do not want deliveries, yet somehow they keep opting me in with my explicit written instruction to please STOP. After rereading my emails, I don't understand how one can misinterpret "Can you please remove my card from your system Or completely delete my user profile?" & "Please remove my credit card. I DO NOT want deliveries automatically done." But here we are. On Yelp. Trying to get some type of competent support so my credit card isn't fraudulently charged. read more

The last time I sent someone flowers I labored over the task. I sought a very specific aesthetic and not what I called a "FTD floral arrangement". I wanted it artsy and thoughtful, a flower arrangement that said something about both me and the person I was sending it to. Matilda's Bloombox wasn't on my radar at the time but having been surprised with one of their deliveries recently, I wish it had been. From the arrival of the long cardboard box to the whimsical insert telling me more about each flower/greenery (how to make the most of it and how to arrange it) I was sold. This is both artful and thoughtful and face it: putting flowers into a vase really isn't a task above your pay grade. What Matilda's Bloombox does is combine great graphic design with a pinch of Etsy and a DYI aesthetic and the whole thing is just very "now". This is not your mother's flower delivery service (but Mom would no doubt love a delivery or subscription). Get on their web site and you can see just how on brand the whole enterprise is. Matilda's offers a subscription flower delivery program that costs $39 per order with no additional delivery charges for subscribers. Delivery frequency is set by you, the subscriber, and can be as frequent or as infrequent as desired. To send flowers from Matilda's to others a delivery fee ($29) is added but in my experience, that will still run less than most floral delivery services. Of course, with this setup you aren't being handed a vase full of flowers. You are receiving a boxful of flowers and the job of arranging them is yours. I did and was quite pleased. Matilda's Bloombox feels sweet, organic, and home-grown and their web-site speaks to me in a way that most other flower delivery services sites do not. read more

Amazing work-sponsored workshop, Emily was an engaging host who made flower arranging fun and inspirational and we enjoyed hearing about all the different flowers sourced locally and simple flower arranging theory. The after effects of the workshop are a lot of us now have made getting fresh flowers a habit and we learned enough in the workshop to make anything look decent. Oh my gosh I love their business model. I learned about Matilda's Bloombox from my (very thoughtful) boyfriend who sent me a box as a surprise while he was on a business trip. I had been ordering from Bouqs for a while now, but I always found them to be too expensive for what I got! In terms of the flowers, I was SUPER impressed with how fresh the first bouquet was and then how long it lasted (2+ weeks). I also loved that the boxes are delivered gently and thoughtfully (and not just thrown on our doorsteps like some other flower delivery services). Everything about the package is also very thoughtfully done, including the explanation of the different elements in the bouquet and the step by step guide on how to put together the flower display. Honestly, put together, everything looks SO much more expensive than it actually is. $39 for a box of flowers is unheard of! As others have mentioned, the variety of flowers is wonderful and are all locally sourced. They do their best to support small businesses, especially once that have been hit hard by the changing climate in the flower-growing world. I've been a regular customer of Matilda's bloombox since before the pandemic and I've had some of the most gorgeous arrangements that rival artisans stands in my area. I order flowers every other week and they mostly last for this time frame. The volume of flowers is usually enough to split between a couple of vases so I can do a table arrangement and a smaller one for my bathroom. Over time their service has improved and expanded to the East Bay. Recently they implemented a text notification system so I know when my flowers will arrive and can plan my day to get them in water. This little family business is genuinely nice, consistent and delightful. They are always striving to provide excellent quality. I always look forward to my Bloombox delivery. read more

Like everyone else has mentioned, these flowers are awesome and I have been impressed so far. I've only gotten my first box but it was gorgeous, came with detailed instructions and tips on how to arrange them, and has lasted several weeks so far. There was a small issue with delivery but they called me and made sure they still delivered which I really appreciated. At around $40 for each delivery of beautiful fresh flowers, it's also a pretty good deal for the size of bouquet and quality of everything (plus this includes delivery). Their website is also really easy to use and you can edit the delivery days without any issue- they have new arrangements every week but you can skip weeks and edit your delivery dates based on what they have for that week (and your cost is the same regardless of how often your deliveries are). I personally plan to have mine delivered every 3-4 weeks. Definitely a nice thing to look forward to. If you're looking for a local florist, I highly recommend Matilda's! read more

Matilda's Bloombox is absolutely AMAZING! I first was introduced to their company by a coworker in December when we were doing a tam-building event. We did a wreath decorating party together and WOW, what a stunning, and FUN successful way to bring the team together. The packages were lovely and delivered on time for our event. They are elegant and have instructions in each box so it was easy for anyone to be able to put a wreath together. I myself had never created a wreath and after following the simple instructions and using the beautiful blooms it looked like I had been building these beauties for years. The most fun part was that even though we all got the same "ingredients" we each came up with a beautiful and unique wreath to take home or gift. Most recently, given COVID, I have been signing up for bloom box deliveries and plan to do virtual bouquet builds with my friends to help us stay connected. I've used Matilda's for a couple of years. I even bought flowers in person from their bright blue truck in SF since 2018. However, the quality has sharply fallen over the past year. The last few deliveries I've had had the absolute worst flowers I've ever seen. Completely wilted within 1 day and badly damaged in the box. They don't let you delete your account on their website, and automatically opt you into deliveries unless you cancel them. You can only opt out of deliveries 6 months in advance so once that time is up you're automatically enrolled. Works perfectly when the business ignores your emails and calls to sneakily charge your credit card. This is extremely shady. I emailed them 3 times to delete my account and they refuse to respond. No response on the phone either. Just buy flowers from Whole Foods or something. Much better quality and prices! Additionally, you won't have to deal with their shady business practices. read more

I was feeling really bummed out not knowing where to get fresh flowers with everything happening, as they've always been my go to pick me up. My friend found Matilda's Bloombox and sent it my way and we decided to sign up so we could do virtual flower arranging together. Basically, you can do a flower subscription where you choose a delivery cadence and get fresh farm sourced flowers delivered to your door. Each delivery comes with a description of the flowers in your box + tips on how to arrange them. My first box arrived last Wednesday at 7:30 in the morning and they were absolutely gorgeous. It was an all white arrangement with big palm leaves that brightened my day so much. This one didn't come with too many instructions, but I had so much fun playing around with it and already can't wait until my next one arrives. My only concern was that they didn't last very long (about a week) but I think that might've had something to do with care. Otherwise, so gorgeous, affordable, and so happy. The flowers are gorgeous -- so much variety, such a lovely mix of blooms and greens in every box. And fun surprises around the holidays, like sparkly ornamental kale or gold and silver-coated eucalyptus! Often there are enough flowers in a box to make a large arrangement and a smaller one too. The suggestions for how to arrange flowers are super easy and helpful, I've learned a lot. I also really appreciate how easy it is to make changes to the schedule. I typically get a box delivered every other week which is perfect; most (or sometimes all) of the arrangement usually lasts that whole two weeks. But sometimes I need to skip a week and it takes about 2 seconds to take care of that on the website. read more

While the flowers are beautiful, I have been charged more than what I have received. The website states that you will only be charged when each bundle of flowers have been delivered but I have been charged for six bundles at once, and then AGAIN a week later. I have tried to unlink my card so that I would not be continued to be charged, and I am unable to do so. When I contact Matilda's Bloombox, there is no response. I have contacted them three times, but yet I continue to receive advertising emails from them. I have been charged hundreds of dollars. I would not recommend this service. read more

Love love love! I needed a little something to send to my best friends mom during the Shelter in Place since I couldn't visit. She loves flowers and usually will go by the farmers market and make her own bouquets. Anemones drew me in to signing up for their deliveries. I'd been following Matilda's Bloombox on IG for awhile and saw the announcement last week regarding the anemone-centric bunch being added to their next delivery. I can never seem to find anemones anywhere so I took the plunge and signed up. But what a fantastic business model. A weekly or bi-monthly Bloombox at an affordable price which includes free SF deliveries. You get to choose which delivery to opt out of, in the event you aren't home and only get charged per delivered box. I'll be honest, at their price point I questioned the quality of all their products. However, I was pleased to open the box to fresh, gorgeous, fragrant blooms, sans withered petals and the stems were cleanly cut nice and long. It was all very beautifully packaged in a professional looking box with a detailed insert on care and tips on arranging. Loved that the boxes are not only for single use as they can be left outside on delivery day and they will pick it back up to be reused. The boxes are quite nice so single usage would definitely be a waste! When I signed up, I opted for bi-monthly deliveries (in SF, deliveries are Tuesdays) but considering to up them to weekly. So far they've left me impressed and I do love the idea of having fresh locally sourced flowers delivered regularly. Can't wait for the next one! Edited to add: It's Day 4 and the anemones are fully opened and the entire arrangement is still going strong. No browning and still looks as fresh and is fragrant as Day 1. read more

I don't know why it's taken me so long to review this incredible small business (especially because I have been recommending them for a while), but here we go. It's hard to fully express how amazing it feels to have beautiful flowers delivered to your doorstep every week. Not only beautiful, but so unique. One week the flowers will be mostly white and feel almost bridal (which is lovely) and the next week the arrangement is full of bright colors (which just makes smile). Sometimes Emily and her fantastic staff pick themes for a week, which really adds to the excitement and wonder of the delivery. For example the last 4 weeks were themed with vacation spots...one week was Hawaii, one India and you really felt the beauty these places have to offer. It is quite amazing how a box can be delivered and within minutes you're adding so much beauty to your home and in some cases transported to another place. A few highlights...each box is full of a variety of flowers/greenery, as well as vase and arrangement recommendations. You will feel like a professional florist after each arrangement. I know I do. Deliveries...currently Matilda's delivers across the Bay Area, but recently added Austin and Houston. This was AMAZING news, but I recently moved to Austin from SF and being able to keep my weekly deliveries has been so great. Occasionally they also offer vases or different products you can add to the week's flower delivery, which is also pretty fun. This is an exceptional floral company. I ordered several boxes to give to my friends for Bereaved Mother's Day. There was a major hiccup in my order which happens, especially during COVID-19 times. My order was supposed to arrive on a Friday but they were not delivered. Of course, as a bereaved mother, I was very upset that my loss mamas and I wouldn't be receiving our flowers on such a special day for us. Emily was incredibly sensitive regarding this hiccup and went above and beyond to remediate things. Saturday morning, three beautiful boxes arrived at my doorstep just exploding with blooms. The color, variety, and scent were above any expectation I had. This particular box is very special as they contain king protea.
