I had had it bookmarked it for a while and also happened to see their feature on the Yelp Central Coast Instagram. Upon walking in we spotted a self-ordering kiosk and decided to input our order. I had been craving kimbap in recent times and already knew what I was leaning towards. My boyfriend opted for a chicken bowl and we got a Yuzu ade to share. The first thing I got to try was the Yuzu ade. It was a big pricey but a generous size. It was sooo delicious. Tangy but also sweet. After a few minutes, our food came out. We dug in right away. The vege kimbap was a bit plain but had all the lovely textures I was hoping for. My boyfriend said his bowl was delicious. I ended up taking a strawberry bing soo to go for dessert! The ice had that snow-like texture and the dish was sweet but not too sweet. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Matna 1631 and would come again. Nice casual place to eat; I like that it is yellow and I like the lights on the walls. The price is ok. To me, it's worth it. I would totally come again. I got the bibim bob with beef (A lot of rice! Perfectly crunchy and not burnt in the bottom) and my brother got the kimchi ramen. This is the second time I have had a stone rice bowl in my life. I really really liked it and my tummy went away happy. The broth for the kimchi ramen was good too, but the portion for it was a little small. We also had the original bingsoo: red beans, little mochi pieces, almond slivers, and they give you this little tiny cup of condensed milk in case it wasn't sweet enough already. I think it's a good idea to order a variety with two or more people when you go to Matna 1631. read more

Shoutout to my friend Jara for recommending this spot and shouting them out on social media as I have been eager to try this spot ever since learning of them. I had a fabulous meal here today and definitely can't wait to come back! I live for this location as this side of Ventura was in need of some more Asian inspired cuisines and dishes. I was getting a bit tired of the same few places on rotation this way. This location is close to my work and not far from the freeway that it makes it a nice location to frequent from time to time. Located in a busy shopping center it gets crowded in these parts but there is plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is cute from the outside with its signage and is welcoming. You definitely don't realize what a gem of a place it is until you walk in. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious. Felt very well taken care of and I liked that they had a good amount of seating. They also had a lower bar seating area for those dining alone that can make it feel more comfortable. While you order up at a counter the vibes are nice and a buzzer signals you when your order is ready. No table side service here but I didn't miss it. It's casual but they still put love and care into the dishes. Restaurant quality dishes with a more user friendly atmosphere. The music was bumping and they definitely attracted a younger crowd. Maybe just something for them to be mindful of to attract a more diverse crowd because I was thinking of taking my parents here but I know they might be a little overstimulated by the load music etc. For someone younger though it's a fun and fresh vibe. Service was very nice and welcoming. I read this was a family run restaurant and I could definitely sense that vibe. The gal at the counter taking my order was very nice and efficient. She had a smile on her face and inquired how I enjoyed my meal at the end. Very nice people work here and the kitchen is cranking out fresh and tasty dishes. Super crunchy and made fresh to order so it was hot and juicy. I loved that the garlic sauce wasn't overpowering. The sauce and batter complimented the chicken well. Sauce was light and flavorful. Extra bonus it comes with a small dish of pickled radish. Yum. Another dish i tried was the mayo Tuna kimbop. Fantastic, if you know you know! Fresh and visually appealing. Lastly, I had the fresh grape ade (soda). A tasty carbonated drink to bring together all of the right flavors to help balance the meal. 5 stars hands down for the food here, it's super delicious. The only comment I will make and agree with other reviews is it is a little pricy. Quality and portion sizes were good, I definitely loved my meal. But after a small tip, a 5 piece of chicken wings, kimbop, and a grape soda ran me $39. Seems a little steep for the average person dining in for a casual meal. I can say the service and food will keep me coming back despite the price. Just something to consider if you are going with a larger group or family as it can add up. I love manta! Korean food is hard to find in the 805 especially Korean street food. I was so delighted when I saw Matna open , they have the perfect mix of everything you could crave, my favorite are always the wings and the Kimbap. But everything I have had here is amazing. Their Kimchi fried rice is so good and almost all the food portions are very shareable. They service is also outstanding! They are always very nice and welcoming. I like that it is very laxed ambiance, somewhere you can just come and enjoy a snack with friends and family. They always have great bingsoo as well. Definitely a must try! read more

There's not any options for Korean food in Oxnard so this restaurant is a welcome addition to this area for those not lucky enough to be close to k-town to get access to the mutiltude of different korean restaurants available in Los Angeles. For the area, the food and service is not bad. If you can make the hour drive to LA, I recommend going to K town to get more varieties of Korean food for more bang for your buck. However, if you can't make the drive and need a quick Korean street food fix, this is a decent place to meet that need. read more

Nothing too overpowering. Will try another flavor next time. Beef brisket ramen- ton of flavor! Everything about this was 100 thumbs up. Will have to ask to make it spicier if possible in the future. Jepchae- the way noodles should be! If you've had jepchae at Gen, then you will know this doesn't compare. It's not on that same level. It's way better with authenticity to every bite that you would expect jepchae to be! While the chicken and jepchae were of smaller portions of than I initially thought, I would order again. The foodie community needs to be commended for highlighting this place. Had it not been for that, I would have missed out on an amazing experience. As soon as I walked in, I took in the simplicity of the decor and the upbeat music. I was immediately greeted with a smile as I approached the ordering desk. She was so kind to guide me through the menu when I told her it was my first time visiting. I had already eyed the Spicy Beef Brisket Ramen and was pleased when she also recommended that dish. You can have it medium or spicy, and I chose spicy. It was the perfect amount of heat without it being overbearing to the palette, but I will say it did have some heat if you like spicy food. The Yuzu Ade was the perfect way to cool my mouth after a few mouth-watering bites. I loved the presentation of the dish, and she was careful to let me know that the bowl was hot. The utensils are self-serve, and there is a complimentary water station already set up. My favorite moment was when I took my first spoonful/bite and happened to look up, and the young woman and another worker, perhaps one the chefs, were looking at me expectantly. I felt like I was in someone's home, and they wanted to make sure I loved the food. That they cared about my experience!! I immediately smiled and said, "This is incredible!!", as I was still experiencing my palette light up with how rich the flavor was. We shared a smile, and I continued to enjoy the ramen. It's a cute little spot where you can also order Korean "street food" other than fried chicken. Think Japchae, Kimbap, and Tteokbokki. I've only ever tried their Garlic Soy Fried Chicken (duh) and it is almost as good as the ones you can buy from shops in K-Town. The service during the time I went was hospitable. As they didn't have any beef kimbap, we ended up ordering the vegetable kimbap. That was kid approved and my son ate over half of the dish. Soy Garlic K-fried Chicken was very tasty. My family and I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. This is a fast casual style restaurant where you order at the front and then they bring it out to you. The inside of the restaurant is brightly lit and clean.The food was good, but not amazing, mostly Korean versions of Japanese ramen with some more unusual ingredients (beef brisket?). Love their KFC. Spicy garlic sauce is bomb. They don't over-sauce the chicken. Side of steamed rice with it, perfection. They are pricy, but I've noticed that just kind of seems to be the way KFC is. I get it in Santa Clarita too, and it's hella expensive there also. Then again, I think Matna is owned by the same folks who own Sura, and while I love Sura, I stopped eating there after their prices increased by an insane amount. Finally Korean food without having to go to Ktown. I'm sure 805ers that love Korean food know what I'm talking about. But it does come with a premium price, but it is definitely worth it. I went with the original fried chicken because Korean Fried Chicken is amazing! And happy to say it, it is amazing here. Perfectly fried, nice crunch, and juicy. Heads up though the pieces are small. They are wing appetizer sizes. This means if you are a hungry boy like me, you'll need to order more than a 10 piece (15 piece would be perfect). For my wife, she got their salad special and she loved it! She said it's one of the best salads she's ever had. Apologized for forgetting what it was called. But she's hooked and wants to try all the dishes here now. Again the prices aren't the cheapest, but again it's worth it. I've been to this Korean spot twice now, and I'm already obsessed. The first visit hooked me right away. I tried the gimbap and tteokbokki along with their fried chicken. Every bite was so good I couldn't stop talking about it. You can taste how clean and careful the chef is. There is real heart in the food, the kind you usually only get from your mom. On my second visit I tried the cold noodles and the chicken soup, and both were amazing. Light, flavorful, and made with the same level of care that won me over the first time. It's rare to find a place that hits this level of consistency. And the Bingsu? Unreal. It blows every other cafe in the Los Angeles area out of the water. This place is amazing! Such a hidden gem in Ventura! 10/10 food and 10/10 service! My boyfriend and I had been wanting to try this place for a while and decided to stop by after our date. We got all three versions of their Korean Fried Chicken. We both loved the Soy Garlic version, sweet and savory with the perfect amount of glaze and super crunchy! We also got the japchae and tokkbokki with cheese, both so so good. The japchae was filled with vegetables but still had a nice amount of noodles, and the noodles themselves held the flavor of the sauce. We also got their strawberry ade and pandan matcha. The pandan matcha was so nice, creamy, and as someone who always finds pandan desserts to be lacking in pandan, this drink had the perfect amount!
