Ambiance: 3/10 - Not a romantic place, but it is a quick spot to grab a quick meal. It's a walk up counter to order food. It isn't the cleanest with the sauce bottles looking dirty and could use a good wipe down (doesn't look appetizing to use and I think germs)! Maybe just have To-Go small prefilled sauces in plastic if you can't keep them clean? Inside is small and seating is limited, especially during lunch time in which you may not find a seat. Staff: 9/10 - friendly and knowledgeable staff. Food: 8/10 - Food is really good and has authenticity of good Vietnamese Pho and meat platters. This is a branch off of the old Pho Saigon that used to be in Pt. Hueneme, but closed. Overall rating: 6/10. I like this place, and this is my favorite dish. But anytime I come here the woman working ( I think she might be the daughter of the owner) is not friendly towards me. Sorry, but in this economy if I'm spending my money somewhere ---overall customer service is a top priority. Sadly, I won't be coming back here after today. When I walked in right away, she stepped away so that her dad could help ring me up. So that was obvious then when my order was ready..She called my name out, left my order on the counter and quickly walked away...she didn't even say thank you, or goodbye or have a good day‍, nothing. I noticed her sour energy towards me several times. I see how she's so friendly to everyone else. The portions are huge! I ordered the friend rice and had food for a few days! My rice was packed with all the yummy ingredients - Chinese sausage, veggies , eggs and etc. Service was prompt. It was not busy when I stopped by on a Friday around 1pm. Cool spot with a beautiful murals. There's plenty of seating indoor and outdoors. Only negative was that there were men smoking at the tables outside. It was right by the door so I could smell the cig smoke. It was our first time here. My family and I came here for dinner and it was busy. So you need to order AND pay before you sit down. They don't have servers so you need to clean after yourselves. The "server" is also the cashier. And if you have leftovers you wanna take home, don't ask for containers because they already serve the food in the "to go" containers. Solid pho spot that never misses. I usually get the pho tai with or the beef vermicelli bowl, and both are consistently good. The broth is flavorful, the noodles are cooked right, and the meat is always super tender. I've also tried the eggrolls, spring rolls, fried wontons, rice dishes and those were also delicious. Located next door to Ragin' Boba, which is also in the same plaza as the Toppers on Gonzales & Oxnard Blvd. Plenty of free parking that's shared with other businesses. Just don't expect any table side service. Just when they bring you your order. The young girl at the counter was friendly. When opting to eat here, you order at the counter, pay & seat yourself. Presentation & Utensils: The downside is that everything was served in disposable plastic bowls with plastic spoons. For a sit-down meal, it didn't feel comfortable or enjoyable. A place with such good food really deserves proper dishes and utensils. Atmosphere: The biggest issue I experienced was with one of the kitchen staff. He stepped outside right by the entrance and started smoking, and unfortunately, the smoke immediately drifted inside the restaurant. When I asked him to stop, he just moved a few feet away, smiled, and continued. Since we had already paid (they charge upfront), we couldn't simply leave. The cashier apologized and quickly tried to shut the door, but the damage was already done. Great bowl of pho! I ordered the #10 pho tai nam (rare and well cooked beef). The broth was piping hot, the side herbs and bean sprouts were fresh and crisp, and the lime slice was huge. The brisket was of good quality, the broth tasted clean and light, and there was a lot of meat...I got really close to finishing the bowl but couldn't. The whole layout of the restaurant is mainly set to be takeout since there weren't that many tables offered, but I decided to eat it there. I got the beef and tendon pho dish and it was piping hot, had great flavor, and the beef and tendon were tender. The noodles were as well to my liking. I really enjoyed eating this dish especially since it was such a cold day outside. It really helped warm me up. I also got it with some egg rolls which also were hot and fresh. Tucked in a small plaza, we came to try the place. Parking isn't too bad, but close-by spaces are limited and tight. Even though it's a To Go kitchen, there is an option to dine inside. Only thing is that the food is prepared for To Go so the food comes out in To Go boxes. Not a big deal as you now have the box ready to go if you couldn't finish your food. In total, we had a Spring Roll (shrimp and pork), Beef Pho, a broken rice dish, and a Bun. A wide variety of food and they weren't bad in our opinions. The quantity was ample and decent compared to the price being paid. The flavors hit the right marks for each of the food, but I wouldn't say they are the best. The Pho's is a bit on the more mellow side in terms of depth of flavors. The Spring Roll's vegetables inside were fresh, but didn't have a strong crunch. The Broken Rice Dish, while ample, the pickled vegetables and Egg Cake were lacking in their individual flavors. IE: The pickled vegetables weren't pickled enough. The Bun was ample too and my wife couldn't finish it. The fish sauce given was great in my opinion in that it definitely packed a punch. Not much service as you order at the counter and they just bring the food to you. The chicken was nothing special, it was simply chicken lightly breaded and thrown in oil. No sauce, marinade, nothing. While there are a half a dozen tables the bottom line is the name tells you how they feel about dining in. They don't seem to like or appreciate it. Regardless if you eat there or get takeout it's packaged for take out, including a thick plastic bag, a thin plastic bowl with a (not easy to open) lid. Not exactly fun to deal with when there is near boiling hot broth content. In addition there is a bag with the bean sprouts, small piece of line, a bit of basil and small (very) container of hoisin sauce. The amount of plastic used for dining in is an environmental disaster. But, on to the food. First off I am a big fan of Pho Saigon, I'm there a couple of times a month. It's five stars plus in my book. The broth was OK, not nearly as good as PHO Saigon itself or a few others in Ventura County. You can tell me it's PHO Saigon's second location but you can't prove it by me and frankly does their reputation more harm than good. I ordered the #10, rare and well cooked beef version of Pho. There was well cooked beef and that's it. I've also read a few comments about the young fellow working the counter and answering the phone and yeah he needs a major attitude adjustment. He must be a relative of the 'owners.' He is dismissive, inattentive and too busy on his phone or watching the 'TV's" to be bothered with the job at hand and the bit I heard him on the phone taking orders was just as bad. What part of the 'hospitality' business does he not understand? Bottom line, I'm not bothering to go there any more. I'm only giving them three stars because I the food itself was OK, but no more. The menu is about the same and the classics are all available at this location -- like my favorite Crispy Fried Chicken Broken rice (#47). Long overdue as the Pho Saigon is consistently packed with people, I'm so glad that they opened this new location! The store is much newer so it looks very clean. Everyone in Oxnard knows Pho Saigon in port hueneme has the best Vietnamese food in all of the 805, but if you live on the north side of town it's not always the easiest or ideal location to get to. Now the Northside of Oxnard has really great, quality and delicious Vietnamese food! No need to go all the way to port Hueneme. This hole in the wall used to be Love Phó Gà opened back in 02/02/2022 ran by owners of the Love Phó N' Mor in Camarillo and Love Phó Cafe in The Annex at The Collection. Gà which means chicken, its intention was to only sell Vietnamese chicken dishes. They were only in business for a few months after running into staffing issues and lacking in variety of food that they were offering. They tried adding beef dishes but word just did not get around fast enough. Thankfully! After almost a year of being closed, Phó Saigon in Port Hueneme took ownership of this location and we could not ask for anything better. If you really want the restaurant experience, then go to Phó Saigon - but if want the same taste in authenticity of food and want to enjoy them at the comfort of your home, then this is your place! The food here is very authentic and delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are limited number of tables inside to enjoy your food and drinks which is ideal with a small group of people. The concept of this place is cook-to-order food and take them to-go. The downside at this point is that they don't have to-go menus or take online orders through Yelp, Google, Doordash, Grubhub, Uber Eats, etc. for pick-up or delivery. However, I'm sure in no time they will figure this out, after all, they've only been open for about a month. Overall, I would highly recommend this place which is conveniently very accessible for North Oxnard, Ventura, Camarillo residents as it located near Highway 101. The bonus is that you don't need to drive all the way to Port Hueneme and parking is not an issue at this location. So don't forget to call ahead! read more
