Love coming here for their happy hour menu! Happy hour is everyday from 2:30-9 and ALL DAY SATURDAY! The sashimi and sushi slices are so generous for HH prices! $1.50 for sushi and $1.75 per sashimi piece. $5.95 for rolls and BOGO appetizers! Best agedashi tofu in town! The tofu has a perfect crisp skin coating a soft tofu inside. The flavors balances so well. We came here on a Friday lent night and it was so busy yet the service and food came out so quick!! We came hungry and left happy. It is a smaller sushi restaurant, I wouldn't recommend coming with a big group during busy hours. Overall, very friendly , quick service and great quality sushi!

Very surprised with the quality of sushi here in this strip center joint. I had some time to kill and wanted to satisfy my sushi craving and I must say I'll be back. The happy hour alone is such a steal. You can get certain nigiri or sashimi for $1 or $1.75 I think. Certain appetizers are buy one, get one free. The service is exceptional as well. What else is there to say?

I had the pleasure of dining here with a friend of mine for lunch in mid July. Sushi is a common delight for us both and she mentioned this was a favorite of hers when she's in the area. They do have sushi rolls not on the menu which is what we ordered. There's the Bunny Roll (salmon, tuna, avocado, tobiko, cilantro) and the General (??) Roll (Imitation crab, shrimp tempura, green onion), both of which are large and filling and tasty. We also ordered salmon and yellowfin sashimi, both served chilled since we needed some sort of raw fish for the rolls. While I've had better sashimi elsewhere, the taste was there. Service was quick and sufficient and the sushi came out pretty quickly for a place that was 3/4ths full on a Thursday just before noon. The place has a favorable happy hour according to some people; I think it's still the $1 sushi/sashimi + BOGO appetizer which is a deal you can't say no to. I assume it still goes from 2:30 PM to close which is more favorable than other happy hours. There's plenty of parking and it's in a strip mall in Energy Corridor so more fit for the suburbia crowd. While it's not a spot I would go out of my way for, I'm down to grab sushi here, open to HH, and perhaps make a takeout order should I pass through this neck of the woods.

Fresh Salmon!! The best in town for $ VS value.

April 2023 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Love this place! This is the best quality food for the price in town. My son and I are regulars here. The entire staff is great. The service is excellent. If you want something quick and good quality for the price this is your place. Ambiance is nice and comfy.

This place is pretty awesome.. Where else can you find you find happy hour from 2:30 pm to close and buy 1 get 1 free appetizers?! They have a great chilled like cheese sauce talkie for $6 a cup which isn't too bad nowadays. They have happy hour rolls that are many people's favorite such as the shaggy dog roll and the crunchy roll. While their sushi isn't the best, I still enjoyed it! Very small space so make sure to come right after work. I came on a Friday around 5:15pm and it was empty but started getting packed at 7pm. Also a great area to sit at the sushi bar. Highly recommended! You'll get a bang for your buck!

I've been coming to Matsu for years and even return now that I no longer live in the area. Great place for fresh sushi, healthy portions, and fantastic service. I highly recommend their lunch specials and happy hour specials. Come early because there aren't too many seats, but they do a great job of accommodating.

Food here is great, and they have a really good, and probably way more convenient than most places, happy hour that we usually go to. The service is very quick and efficient, they definitely have a good system to get food served quickly and get people out the door to serve the next group. That isn't to say they are trying to rush you out as it didn't feel like that, but if you are very hungry and need good sushi in a hurry, this is the place to go! The crunchy roll is a favorite of mine here, definitely recommend.

Matsu reminds me of sushi spots all throughout suburbia: ample parking, small interior, strip mall locale, and no one speaks Japanese. But the question still begs: is the sushi worth it? Thankfully, yes. I don't think I've ever been here when it wasn't hoppin with people. And with their never ending food happy hour deal ($1 sushi / sashimi + buy 1 get one appetizers), it becomes an immediate sell for the Energy Corridor crowd. Apart from the all you can eat spots, this is one of the better deals in town. The sushi / sashimi itself, is quite plentiful. Good, thick quality cuts, which is considered generous considering the price point. The rolls are probably the better sell, especially at $5 each, but taper the expectations and one might be pleasantly surprised. I'm not terribly fond of much of the hot food (or really the appetizers), I think I appreciate their spicy chopped scallops, matsu roll, and pretty much any specialty fish (otoro anyone?), despite not being part of their happy hour deal. Despite constantly being inundated, the service is pretty good. They're polite on the phone, quick at getting folks their food, and good about managing crowds to keep the waits minimal. I'm not sure about their delivery game, but the take out is gets a solid thumbs up. All throughout the pandemic, it's been one of the more popular places in Energy Corridor. When things were getting really hairy with the infection rates, places like this would have been a bit of a nightmare with the cramped seating and little-to-zero distancing. The staff is masked, but there is only so much wiggle room to get around. While I don't think it's a destination by any stretch, it's the kind of sushi spot that would get big ups in any neighborhood. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again. It's an ideal spot to pick up a party platter for a potluck or simply to satiate one's raw fish fix.

Thought I give this place a chance as I like to try new places for lunch. Big mistake! The sushi at Krogers tasted better.

I came for lunch on a Saturday and it was super busy so the service was a bit slow. It took a while for our water and for our server to come and take our order. I ordered the Lunch Special Nigiri Sushi and Noodle Set and got 6 pieces of salmon nigiri with udon noodle soup. The salmon nigiri was fresh and buttery and so delicious! The serving size of the udon was a lot bigger than I anticipated so I feel like I got my money's worth. I definitely recommend coming for the lunch specials since they're good value.

After being seated, I informed the waiter that I would place a to-go order instead. About 20 minutes later, our food was ready. At that point, our daughter woke up, so we hoped to continue dining in as originally planned. I politely asked the waiter if we could finish our meal there. We didn't expect him to continue serving us--we simply wanted to sit and eat the food we had ordered. I had already tipped him on the to-go order. His response was blunt and shocking: "No, you have to leave. The table was given to someone else for a 7:30 reservation." There was no attempt to find a solution or offer an alternative--just a direct order to leave. This was a Thursday night, the restaurant was not busy, and there were outdoor tables and other seating available. We felt incredibly insulted by the attitude. When we spoke to the manager, he simply repeated that the table was reserved and backed up the waiter, without suggesting another table or even asking us to wait for the next available one, until we brought up the point that he could have asked if we have an option to wait for the next table?? Then the manager went ok do you want to have another table just because we asked. What stood out most wasn't the reservation issue, but the complete lack of hospitality, flexibility, or basic courtesy. This experience spoke volumes about the customer service here, and unfortunately, it's the reason we won't be returning.

We only had time to come here for lunch so we got here a little before opening and there was already a line. As soon as the doors opened, the staff got us in immediately. You can tell they have this process down to a science. It all felt so efficient and quick. The inside looked like a traditional Japanese ramen spot so it was super cute and had a great vibe. As for the ramen itself, I was blown away. The broth was so rich but didn't taste overpowering at all. It had an amazing flavor with a lot of spice and earthiness. The noodles were a perfect amount of firm where it didn't get soggy and you were able to savor every bite. The takoyaki we got on the side was amazingly cooked as well. I cannot wait to come back which I will be doing again and again.

I came by right before the dinner rush so I was immediately seated at the bar and greeted by the iconic "Irasshaimase!" (welcome in Japanese) by every wait staff so that was fun! The wait staff were very attentive and proactive so ordering the food and getting it took maybe less than 10 minutes. Onto the food: I originally came in because the website mentioned tsukemen and maybe that's my fault for not checking again on yelp itself (whoopsies!) but of course, they did not have it BUT they still had very solid options for ramen. I chose the signature because I wanted to see what Mensho was known for since my family has tried it when they first opened and enjoyed it. The noodles themselves were phenomenal and just the right amount of bounciness and chew. The chicken broth was so rich and creamy, you could pretty much classify it as tonkotsu because of how fatty and buttery it tasted. There was a trio of meats that were delicious but the only one that stood out to me the most was the chicken chashu because it was juicy and flavorful. The eggs, pretty solid and it came with two halves so essentially a whole egg which is my favorite part about eating ramen. The ambiance: it's trendy and aesthetically pleasing! However, it's gonna be busy and loud so if you're expecting a quiet, low-key joint, I would recommend coming in the morning when they open instead of around dinner time. The decor was gorgeous and the music was at a moderate volume. Final rating: I would come again and definitely bring some friends to join in because there's a lot of unique options and unfortunately, I can only eat for one so maybe next time, I'll try their Duck Matcha ramen.
