Malaya understood the assignment. We ordered the Ube Creme Latte and the Caramel Banana Latte. The Ube Creme Latte was the clear winner. It had an authentic ube flavor that tasted like actual ube instead of someone whispering "ube" into a regular latte. The Caramel Banana Latte was good too, but I've had better. The queso de bola ensaymada was absolutely superb. It was buttery, fluffy, perfectly sweet without sending you into a sugar coma, with just enough salty queso de bola to keep every bite interesting. The beef and asada empanadas disappeared embarrassingly fast. We probably should've ordered more. And can we take a moment to appreciate the parking lot? Finding parking in Silver Lake without circling the block 47 times feels like winning a small lottery. We had no trouble finding a spot. Went to try this place in Silverlake since it was closer than the one in Arcadia. It was pretty hard to find parking in the plaza, so we had to park on a street nearby! It was neat and clean inside and the decor was pretty. I liked that they had displays hung up showcasing the old Filipino script Babayin! I thought that was cool. The staff were chill, but didn't feel super welcoming. It was pretty packed inside with a lot of people hanging out or studying, but it wasn't too loud inside. They also have options for alternative milks and serve some food items like empanadas! Our drinks came out pretty fast and were pretty good. I got the pandan coffee which was so lovely and creamy and not too sweet! Asked for light ice as well, and the ratio was great. Truly delicious. i drove to sunset to try Malaya trending new lychee coconut matcha that i have been seeing all over my TikTok. i had no idea they are right next to gong gan cafe, super cool! i like that they have parking, it does get full so you'd have to get lucky to find a parking spot. it was my first time coming to malaya, when walking in i was greeted by a nice gentleman at the register. the day that i came was their last day selling their lychee coconut matcha. while waiting for my drink i was checking out the decor, pastries, and the vibe within its self. i like the tables arrangement & seating. multiple options for people that come in groups or single. the wait for my drink didn't take that long at all. i don't drink coconut with my matcha that often but this was pretty good. i like the visual layering of the drink. the cream top was good but it didn't taste like lychee as much & they ran out of coconut flakes so i kinda didn't get the "lychee coconut" experience but oh well the matcha drink did taste good though. i do rate it a 8/10. i will be coming back to try their other drinks! read more

Parking lot is quite small with tight parking and people don't really leave. Needed to circle around a few times on a Monday around 11am until someone left. Street parking is metered. Great spot to for a work from cafe day. Really wanted to try their Caramel Banana Latte but they ran out today.. Malaya Signature Latte -coffee was smooth, drink was quite creamy. I've come here twice now, and I've had such a great experience both times! The first time, I ordered the pandan matcha. Pandan is one of my favorite flavors, so I absolutely loved it. It was delicious and had the perfect balance of flavors. The second time, I tried their limited-edition lychee coco misto, and it was SO good. It was refreshing, creamy, and easily became one of my favorite drinks I've had here. I hope to try their seasonal melon special before it's gone. I really hope they consider adding a drink similar to the lychee coco misto to their permanent signature menu because I would absolutely order it again. This is an adorable Phillipino coffee cafe! The menu is extensive and creative and I love the plush seating and atmosphere. It reads great energy. I ordered the banana caramel with oatmilk. Came here early afternoon on a weekday. The place had a pretty chill vibe to it - minimalist decor which featured the traditional Filipino writing system (Baybayin). This place is so far from me but is now my new favorite coffee shop. Totally worth the 40 minute drive every once in a while! I had somewhere to be in Silverlake later in the day so I decided to come here to do work while I wait for my next event. I came on a Friday around 2pm and was able to find parking in the lot, though the lot and the cafe started filling up around 4ish. I got an ube matcha with almond milk, and it was great! You could tell the matcha is high quality! I also got one of their mango brioche buns which was so delicious! Overall, it's a great study space with great drinks! Update: Drink: Came back here to get my usual matcha lattes, took off one star because it felt like the matcha wasn't strong enough/watered down. We think they made one regular serving of matcha and just split it between the two drinks because after I made the matcha shots at home, it tasted how it usually tastes. I've been obsessed with pandan, so I had to try the pandan matcha latte iced with oat milk. Truthfully, it was very sweet, so whether you enjoy it depends on your personal preferences. For me, the matcha flavor got a little lost, and when I did taste it, I did experience a bit of grittiness. If I were to order it again, I'd definitely do half sweet. Decided to check out Malaya since I've seen a handful of friends try this place out recently and I love supporting Filipino-owned businesses. The inside is nice, bright and surrounded with light wood. It feels very warm and inviting with plenty of seating to study or catch up on some work. Very cute and cozy vibes for sure. The staff were super nice and we got our drinks relatively quickly. I got the Banana Caramel Latte. Banana Caramel Latte 8/10 - The first thing that stood out to me was the banana flavoring. It was definitely more "real" tasting than artificial tasting. The caramel was strong as well. The cream it came with was thick, sweet, and creamy. I would say overall the drink is on the sweeter side, but I didn't mind since I do have a sweet tooth so do keep that in mind! It was later in the afternoon, so I opted for the Ube Matcha. I'm usually not a fan of flavored matchas, but I thought I would give it a try, and it was very enjoyable. It wasn't too sweet and the matcha and Ube flavors were well defined. Cute seating areas for groups and also single seats to work at.
