    Nishio + Uji matcha latte
    Ethan P.

Great experience! Highly recommend you don't do to go and sit for the experience(they also have classes. Didn't take it but looks interesting). Beautiful space with friendly staff that took the time to explain their matcha collection. Both Uji and Nishio are great choices but getting the pistachio milk gave it a unique subtle sweetness which I highly recommend

I tried something different and tried Hukuju and literally love at first sip. I love that they didn't pre-sweeten the Matcha. Honestly, I think they really tried to serve matcha as authentically and best possible. The nutty, velvety, cocoa notes were spot on. And it was just so lovely tapping for a couple hours while sipping this drink. And surprisingly, I enjoyed it even more the cooler it got. Warm and room temp with a splash of honey is the way to go. I also tried their Uji Homare and it was a much more familiar flavor profile to what I was used to but without as bitter aftertaste. Just really good flavor The taste and vibes were immaculate. The staff were kind and very knowledgeable. I learned a lot about Matcha talking with the manager especially about their cast iron low boiler. Unfortunately, the smallest bag of Hukuju was 100mg and I wasn't ready to drop $70 like that. But luckily they have a similar product in a smaller tin that I was more than happy to take home with me.

The matcha is delicious, the ambiance is so beautiful, and the service is super kind. What more can you ask for? My group got two drinks, the sparkling matcha and the osmanthus mango hojicha summer special. The sparkling matcha was soooo refreshing, and they even had simple syrups on the side to customize your own sweetness level! The osmanthus hojicha was unique but definitely not as sweet - as someone who likes sweet drinks better, I probably should've added more syrup myself. Hoping to stop by again and do some work at the beautiful tables inside!

I made the switch from coffee to matcha about 2 years ago & the biggest struggle has been finding pure quality matcha. I've searched near & far all over Los Angeles & Kettl definitely takes the top spot of best matcha in LA. Once you've had a properly sourced, freshly milled, high grade Japanese matcha like Kettl's, many cafe matcha doesn't compare. You won't find flat, dull, overly bitter, chalky, too sweet, low quality matcha here. Just top notch matcha that is unmatched.

Social media told the truth and nothing but the truth so help me God. And that is the type of time we're on. Authentic, real, ceremonial grade matcha. What more can I say? Perfect taste. Perfect experience. When I'm back in LA i'll be back here without a hesitation. I highly recommend the Uji Homare Matcha with oat milk!! Enjoy the footage! ;)

Cute spot. Friendly service. Got the sparkling matcha, nice and earthy. Strong matcha taste. I just wish they had agave for sweetener but I would definitely come back and try more drinks.

Great quality matcha, but quite pricey!! I went for the Shirakawa (Uji) matcha latte which was almost 9 dollars. I like earthy, umami, and rich flavors. That was the highest grade, but there are other less expensive options. Service was as usual. On the weekends, the wait to order and receive your order can be long. The interior is clean, open, and serene. It adds to the ambiance. Though it feels like this place used to be some bathroom supply store previously (there's a random sink on the second floor). There isn't much seating, especially on the weekends when this place gets busy. There is no wifi either, so this isn't quite a study or wfh spot.

Kettl is the real matcha experience before all the hype happened. This is their first L.A. location and I'm so glad they're here! They've mastered the craft of preparing matcha and sell kits to take home. They also do collaborations with other businesses for experimental matcha treats. I got to experience a Matcha 101 class on their second floor that was super fun and educational! It was a privilege to hear about the business and learn how to make matcha the traditional way. We got to prepare two different matchas from different regions in Japan, and their matcha chocolate which was super good! I also bought their houjicha chocolate which I preferred more for the roasted, nutty flavor. As for the drinks, they definitely take on a more traditional approach. They also offer alternative milks and self serve honey and simple syrup since each drink comes unsweetened. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!

This cafe is matcha mania. All different kinds, flavor profiles, plus non matcha teas for those who don't drink the green dream but accompany their loved ones to matcha mania. But you know what else is mania? Charging $15 for an ice cream pop. The first time I came they had a fantastic matcha cookie by Sqrl. The second time, all they had was the ice cream pop, so I said sure. I had it in my hands, they rang me up, and I could. Not. Believe it. I asked, did you ring me up right? Yes, yes they did. A freaking $15 ice cream pop. It was already in my hands so I went with it, expecting it to be the greatest ice cream pop I've ever had it. Was it? Not even close. Nothing special. Should've been half as much. Mania.

I absolutely love everything matcha, and Kettl is one of my favorite places in LA to get high-quality matcha prepared the traditional way! The space itself is lovely - so calming, peaceful, and beautifully designed. I got the Uji matcha latte, which is their highest-grade matcha, and it was so umami and creamy - you can really taste the quality. My friend got the sobacha latte, a fragrant and light roasted buckwheat latte. Their drinks come unsweetened, but they offer sweetener if you like Service is great too - I wasn't expecting the staff to bring my matcha to where I was sitting! The cafe has two stories, with a communal table upstairs that's great for chatting or getting some work done. Just note that they don't have Wi-Fi or outlets. Street or neighborhood parking.

I'm not the biggest matcha fan. But my sister who was in town and my wife are. We were in the area and happened to stumble upon this place. The decor upon entry was warm and welcoming. Limited seating, but it was super clean. They had an upstairs seating area as well that overlooked the place. They had different teas and Matcha's. The manager/owner was super helpful and both my wife and sister were happy with what they ordered.

I had been wanting to try kettl out, and finally had the chance to while I was in LA. The place is nice, very clean look as well as clean. I went on a Wednesday evening, and I was the only person there. They have upstairs sitting, at the bar where they make the drinks, and a comfy area towards the back. I ordered an iced suiteki matcha with almond milk. Such a beautiful green! I didn't add any simple syrup or agave because I wanted to really taste the matcha!

I explained that Yelp has an "Order" section that directs customers to DoorDash, where a chai is listed as an available item. Instead of simply explaining the situation, he was condescending and insisted that they were not affiliated with DoorDash. The employee making the coffee eventually had to step in and explain that they used to accept DoorDash orders but stopped about a year ago. If that's the case, this is clearly something the business needs to address. Their Yelp listing is still directing customers to DoorDash, creating confusion about what they actually offer and where they can order from. Mistakes happen, but there was absolutely no reason for the front employee to be so dismissive or condescending when I was simply trying to order something that their own Yelp listing indicated was available. Updating the DoorDash information would be a good start, and so would treating customers with a little more courtesy.

It had an authentic ube flavor that tasted like actual ube instead of someone whispering "ube" into a regular latte. The Caramel Banana Latte was good too, but I've had better. The queso de bola ensaymada was absolutely superb. It was buttery, fluffy, perfectly sweet without sending you into a sugar coma, with just enough salty queso de bola to keep every bite interesting. The beef and asada empanadas disappeared embarrassingly fast. We probably should've ordered more. And can we take a moment to appreciate the parking lot? Finding parking in Silver Lake without circling the block 47 times feels like winning a small lottery. We had no trouble finding a spot. Come for the ube latte, stay for the ensaymada, and leave wondering why you didn't order a second empanada.
