There was a long line to order but everything was ready pretty fast. I had the Kyoto Matcha, Kimchi Pasta, Grapefruit Tonic and Breakfast Burrito. Kyoto Matcha: Not too creamy, not too strong. Perfect in my opinion. Also not on the sweet side, which I prefer. Kimchi Pasta: Was very flavorful and spicy with the sprinkle of chili flakes on top. First time I've also had a Kimchi Pasta that wasn't so oily. Grapefruit Tonic: Refreshing and light, not too sweet. Breakfast Burrito: Regular breakfast burrito but the tortilla was toasted nicely. One of the BEST matcha I've tried !! I've heard a lot of great reviews and Motiq being highly ranked on social media, and I have to say they are so deserving of the high ratings. I ordered the Koi Matcha latte which was perfectly sweetened, the earthiness was strong and tasteful, and I picked up some umami notes, making it very balanced. I was watching them craft the drinks at the front and they manually hand whisk the matcha per drink! I can tell they really care about the craft and quality of their menu items, and staff is super friendly. I also wanted a space with seating to study, so this place offered just what I was looking for. The entire second floor (where the cafe is located) is filled with tables, so finding a seat isn't an issue! There's a lot on the menu, so I want to come back and try the coffee lattes and Hojicha! Came here in need of some caffeine and was pleasantly surprised! One of the best things was the parking structure. Parking can be tough in K-Town, so having that available was a huge plus. The cafe is located in a building with other food and dessert spots, which makes it a fun place to visit. It was pretty busy when I stopped by, and a lot of people were studying or working. The indoor seating was packed, but there was plenty of outdoor seating with lots of tables and fans to keep everyone comfortable. The outdoor area also has a great view of the streets and the energy of K-Town. The menu had a lot of options for both drinks and food. I don't think I'd ever come here if I wasn't 1) already in the area and 2) my friend didn't highly recommend it. I'm pretty adverse to going to coffee shops in LA, especially Koreatown, as trying to find parking and not pay ridiculous prices makes me want to jump out of a window. This place is like on a 2nd or 3rd floor if a building which is interesting. There's an outdoor patio area which was pretty busy, a lot of people on their laptops doing work. It's fine because there is usable wifi, but not a lot of outlets which is no bueno. But we managed to find a spot and made it work. The drink itself was decent. I got the mango matcha, which tastes exactly like a mango matcha. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely not bad at all. But definitely not worth the $7.50 price tag (LA prices, ugh) and an extra $0.75 for oat milk, so my total was $8.25 for this small drink. Taste wise, it was fine. But price and experience wise, I don't think it was worth it, and I don't think I'd come back unless my friends wanted to come back. The fried rice my friend ordered smelled good, but we'll see if I come back to try it. Would recommend you try it out for yourself, as I say with all my reviews. On Monday evening, August 3rd, some of my relatives came from Korea, so after having a family dinner together at Seogwan Myeonok, we went to Motiq Coffee to have some coffee and tea. I've been going to this coffee shop often since it was still called Mi Cafe. They recently completely remodeled the place, so the exterior looks quite different now. First of all, they used to have really comfortable sofas in the outdoor patio area, but all of the sofas are gone now. They only have metal tables and chairs, which I didn't really like. Also, the indoor space used to have the doors firmly closed, but this time the doors were open, so we went inside to take a look. It seemed like that area wasn't completely open yet, but there were metal tables and chairs there as well. So we went in, sat down, and spent quite a long time (Maybe one hour?) chatting over coffee and tea. Then, at 10 p.m., a security guard came and told us that they close the doors at 10 and that we needed to leave, so we left. But even after we got outside, the security guard in the parking lot kept hurrying us along, telling us to leave quickly because it was already past closing time. I really didn't like that. Space-wise, it's great, but the food and drinks were a bit of a mixed bag for me. I ordered the mango matcha and the Japanese salt bread. The matcha quality itself is clearly high, but the mango layer just did not want to mix into the drink at all without a ton of aggressive stirring. The salt bread wasn't quite as soft as I wanted it to be either, though that bright green cream they pipe down the middle looks great. Cafe is really busy around peak hours (we went Friday 2-5pm) and the WiFi has very limited bandwidth and won't work if there's a lot of people. You need to use hotspot if it's busy so plan accordingly. Don't sleep on the food here. I came here because I saw a tiktok on the breakfast burrito and they were not lying about how good it was, paired with 3 different sauces (Chipotle was the best). The drinks here are among some of the best I've had in K-Town. My personal favorite is the Misugaru it's flavorful, well-balanced, and clearly made with attention to detail. You can really tell that care goes into preparing each drink. My only critique is the amount of ice. Like many places, they tend to add quite a bit, which can take away from the actual drink. Given the price, I'd much rather have more of the beverage itself than a cup filled with ice. Omg, they changed their name from Mi Café to Motiq, but the drinks are just as good as I remember :) I highly, highly recommend the double matcha latte and the matcha strawberry latte, which is still my personal favorite. The quality has remained consistent, and the drinks are just as delicious as ever. They've also updated the layout and overall vibe of the café. It feels much more chic and modern now, replacing the cozy sofas and couches they used to have. While I do miss some of the comfy seating, the refreshed aesthetic is cute and inviting in its own way. As always, service is quick and efficient. The only downside is that it's definitely more crowded these days now that the café has gone viral. I recently tried almost everything on the menu at Motiq Cafe and I can honestly say I was blown away by nearly every single item. It's rare to find a place where so many dishes are consistently delicious, but they absolutely delivered! It was creamy, flavorful, rich, and satisfying without feeling overwhelming. The Kimchi Pasta was another surprise favorite. It's one of those dishes that's hard to describe so you really just have to try it for yourself. The flavors were unique, addictive, and unlike anything I've had. If I had to pick a least favorite item, it would be the burger. The ingredients were clearly fresh and well-prepared, but compared to everything else on the menu, it felt a little bland and forgettable. on 08/17/26, we came to try out motiq. parking is OK, there's valet if needed, but finding street parking on a weekday during noontime is easy. the line to order moves fast. with seating inside and outside. after 15 minutes of waiting for the drinks, we asked them what's with the hold up, they said they had to hand mix the hojicha/matcha due to our modifications (the hojicha with less sweet and the matcha with oat milk and less sweet). from where we stood by the wall, we can see them making everyone else's drinks, while our cups are not ready, are only filled with ice and milk, and the sides were sweating from all the condensation. the girl in the red shirt also messed up the hojicha/matcha part and like okay, that's fine, try again, but why was she laughing and taking her sweet time with no sense of urgency ? some of these employees need to gain some common sense, work on their customer service, and learn to prioritize tasks. it doesn't make sense to put off mixing the hojicha/matcha. while off to the side, the cup of ice is melting into the milk. and since they so wanted to put off our order, why not prepare the cup of ice milk last ? right before the hojicha/matcha pour ? we just stood and watched it melt. as expected, the first sip is watered down, and tasted absolutely disgusting. we drank a couple sips and tossed the rest. also, you can clearly taste the oat milk in both cups. only one cup asked for that modification. what if one of us had allergies ? anyways, for ONLY two drinks with reasonable modifications ... tell me why it took 30 minutes total. there's so many other spots in ktown that serve even better drinks, so save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. read more
