I parked across the street to visit Trader Joe's and remembered I had been wanting to try Mewame! When I walked in, the space was moody and clean. The staff member was kind and friendly as well as patient when it came to me trying to decide which flavor to try. I chose the Spring Seasonal Flavor which happened to be Jasmine Green Tea and it was incredibly delicious. Sweet, fragrant, and light. It made for a perfect blend that was refreshing and smooth. I thought the texture of the shaved ice was really interesting and melted in a soft serve way. Overall, highly recommend. Absolutely worth a try for vegans and non-dairy people alike.
Came here with a friend for a post meal dessert. Street parking on Santa Monica is tough (and metered!) but there is free street parking on the side street this is located on if you're good to walk a bit. Seating is exclusively indoors and its limited BUT mewame is right next to a small outdoor park where you can take your dessert to-go and eat at! Matcha shaved ice 4.5/5, this was delicious and I would definitely would come again! It's more of a traditionally bitter green tea tasting matcha flavor and the hints of coconut throughout add some sweetness. Each portion is big enough to share for two!
A small cute spot located in a little shopping plaza! There's a retail parking lot that does 1 hour of free parking (and maybe free parking in general on the weekends? not super sure). They do vegan shaved ice and also drinks, but I mainly came for the shaved ice. They have both coconut and oat based flavors for the shaved ice, and I got their seasonal honeydew pandan flavor which has a coconut base. The coconut makes it soooo much more creamy than regular shaved ice. Like it feels rich and creamy yet light and airy at the same time! There was a strong melon flavor as well that was not overshadowed by the baseline coconut flavor. The coconut cream and small cookie on top were fun too. Everything gets made quickly and the staff are really friendly.

Really loved how the matcha was not very sweet which balanced out well with the sweet cream on top. This spot is small and cute, really enjoyed coming here with friends.
Yummy dessert spot tucked away in a plaza between weho/hollywood. The flavors are delicate and subtly sweet. My friend and I tried the spring seasonal flavor Jasmine Green Tea Shaved Ice and Cashew Coconut. The texture is super fluffy and light, I haven't tried this style of dessert before! Parking is easy in the underground free lot, and the shop is beautiful and feels super new and clean. Our server was super helpful and patient too.
Tried out this bingsoo place when craving it, and was also intrigued that it was fully vegan. The interior of the space was super nice and cute. Very clean and modern. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, making it a nice place to study, hang out, or catch up with friends. Service was friendly, and I thought it was nice that they brought the bingsoo directly to our table. Parking on a Thursday night wasn't too bad with street parking available, though I'm not sure if there are other better options. My friends and I tried the Mango Passionfruit and the Houjicha bingsoo. The shaved ice was really soft and delicious. Flavor-wise, they were decent, but the mango passionfruit was much more tart than I would have expected and preferred, and I found myself wishing the houjicha flavor was a bit stronger and bitmore pronounced. Overall, it's a pretty nice spot for a quick sweet treat. I'd come back to try other flavors if I happened to be in the area, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for it.
Was looking for something, sweet, filling but not heavy. The mango passion fruit shaved ice hit the spot. It was so smooth and creamy and absolutely delicious. Every few bites my friend and I were saying how good it was. I also got the mango pineapple smoothie. It leaned a little heavy on the banana but was good was well!
I came here as a treat after having a scary medical exam done, and it was the perfect pick me up. Not as thick as gelato/ice cream but thicker than other shaved ice I've tried, it was a pretty unique textural dessert. They have lots of flavors but we tried strawberry (coconut based) and matcha (oat based). The strawberry one tasted like strawberry milk to me, a little more sweet and creamy than I'd expect, but the matcha one was soooo good. It tasted just like a matcha Einspänner, and I know I'll be craving this come summer. The service was also great - the attendant took his time explaining everything to us and was very intentional in the display of the dessert. Pro tip: just park in the Trader Joe's lot off pointsettia, it's free parking for an hour without any validation needed. I would definitely return for the matcha shaved ice alone!
Mewame is a small shop nestled almost hidden away around the corner/in a shopping mall. The shaved ice was much creamier than anticipated but it was so flavorful. The matcha was a fan favorite among our group and almost had a chocolate flavor to it. Seating was casual and comfortable for a quick sweet treat. There is also structure for free parking attached to the building which was very convenient.
Guilt-free desserts? Say less, I'm omw! I'm talking about a vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and artificial junk-free menu with zero compromise on flavor and quality. My Matcha Shaved Ice was fluffy and not-too-sweet, just the way I like it. The worker said the mango passion fruit and cashew coconut have been the top sellers, so I guess I'll have to come back to try those :) The simplicity and cleanliness of the shop gave us a refreshing break from the usual LA chaos. Swing by for a well-balanced and light snack!
Update: Absolutely love the new spring flavor: Jasmine Green Tea Shaved Ice!! Felt as if I was sitting under a flower tree at a chill picnic hangout with friends. Came after lunch on Sunday around 2PM. I love how light & approachable this shaved ice is! You know when you /have to/ commit to eating dessert in LA.. there's plenty of dessert spots are either filling, food coma inducing, really sweet or quite large like they are making a big statement? Well this is one of those rare breed of where they do it quality, light & tasty shaved ice. This isn't your bingsoo or your halo halo kind of spot. The owner apparently upgraded his Hojicha drink and that's why it taste soooo much better than the basic Hojicha you taste at other places. This is that relaxed light dessert you CAN have after a medium to heavy meal. The staff here are nice, polite and do a quality job presenting these delights.
I have yet to find a shaved ice place I like in LA. Our favorite was called Wicked Snow in Dallas, we absolutely don't understand the hype for Oakobing and was hoping Mewame would hit the spot but it didn't quite do it for us. - Mango Passion Fruit: it was just tart. Which the employee did let us know it was going to be tart but I couldn't really distinguish the flavors well. It was a bit more passion fruit-y than mango. It wasn't bad but most of us (me, my fiancé and 4 of our friends) eventually got tired of the flavor - Hongsi: I just... didn't get any flavor. I know even the persimmon fruit itself won't be sweet unless it's completely ripe but this one just didn't stand out at all - Cashew Coconut: surprisingly everyone's favorite. It was light, but creamy and actually tasted the coconut flavor. If we were to go back, we'd get this again Maybe we just need to try their other flavors but we're not rushing to go back unfortunately. There's metered street parking available and if you're going to the TJs in the same area, you should be able to get your parking validated. Service was nice thought! Would give this 3.5 starts and possible re-visit in the future
Absolute heaven! We ordered a matcha shake and a honeydew shaven ice cream. The matcha quality is seriously the best and the shake texture added a special touch. Def a lot more on the dessert side because of this. We shared one of each. The honeydew was the perfect flavor option for the ice. It's sweetness and freshness complimented well with the cream and the cookie. The texture of the shaved ice was fun as well. Service was very quick. They serve your items on nice wooden plates. I also enjoyed the layout and the table designs. Great size for optimizing room. There were lots of people when we went, but it made the ambiance feel nice. Great spot to come with friends, family, or any large group. Street parking available. read more

Starting off, the service was nice and quick. Very aesthetically pleasing interior. Tables were a bit dirty, needed to wipe down but expected at dessert place. As for the dessert itself it was okay. We got the hojicha and jasmine green milk shaved ice. Tbh they were both okay. They had the flavor profile that they weee trying to present, the shaved ice is different texture then what I'm used to having. Idk if I love it but it's not bad; however, I think would much rather have had it in drink form. That being said, I was between a 3 and 4 but mewame is such a tough name I had to give them a 4. Very good interior design too! read more
We both ordered their "shaved ice" which comes with coconut whipped cream and a gluten-free cookie on top. Unfortunately, both of the items were underwhelming. There wasn't anything that especially stood out to me. Great service though -- the staff were very kind! Ordered... Incredible light dessert. I appreciate they add calories next to each shaved ice. My group tried the matcha and mango passionfruit, and I loved the matcha more. Mango passionfruit was tart. Definitely coming back to try the same thing or new menu items. read more

Better than I expected and not overly sweet yet delicious and fresh. I think what can make this even better for me is if they had hand made mochi in it or otherwise more toppings as the bowl overall is sparse for the high price point, but def amazing, can't wait to try the others! Hojicha block shake 4/5: I LOVE Hojicha so imagine my excitement when I saw this!!! Don't get me wrong this was delicious and so good!!! My only gripe was that it was too sweet for my taste buds (everything was basically perfect but they couldn't adjust the sweetness since the blocks are premade). If ever they make it sugar-free or at least only subtlety sweet (maybe one without the maple syrup or use monk fruit?) Saw an ad on Instagram and really wanted to try with my friends! The interior is super cute and parking on the street wasn't too bad. The workers were all very nice as well! I think, unfortunately, the flavors were just too light for my group and me. We got the matcha and coconut cashew at first. This spot is a hidden gem tucked away, but definitely worth the visit! We shared the shaved matcha, but I recommend getting your own because it's so yummy and goes quickly! The service here is unmatched. The gentlemen behind the counter were very sweet and I can tell they prepare each order with good intention and take consideration into everything they do. The space inside was very clean and simple, with limited seating. Parking was a little tough but it is a nice side of town to walk through. I would 100% love to come back here again. read more

It's a cute little dessert place hidden next to the trader joes. My friend and I shared the mango option and the worker did mention that it was a tad bit sour. We found it to be ok, not bad but not something I would go out of my way for. Place had ample seating. Parking in the garage is free, which is a plus for weho. read more

i like the way they present the shaved ice, so simple and taste is great. honeydew pandan is limited flavour so make sure you try before it lasts!!! the way they present the place is so nice and clean. staffs are nice, polite, and attentive. must try!!! read more

Hidden gem alert!! My friends and I came in expecting it to be a regular matcha spot, and we ended up being pleasantly surprised with mewame. Mewame is a gluten free, dairy free, and vegan cafe. It's has the perfect ambiance for simply getting some work done, or yapping with some friends. We ordered the matcha block shake. The block shakes are made from avocado, coconut, cacao, and maple syrup. These ingredients didn't overpower the matcha at all and the matcha felt like it perfectly balanced everything. This drink was so unique and yummy I'll definitely be back again! read more

I found this ice cream place on Yelp after seeing all the great reviews, and I couldn't wait to try it. It's tucked away in the Avalon Apartments, right in front of Trader Joe's, but you do have to walk up a few stairs. I couldn't spot any dedicated parking, so you'll have to rely on street parking, which can be tricky since it's a busy area definitely keep an eye out for a legit spot to avoid a ticket. Once inside, though, I was really happy. The staff was super welcoming, took the time to explain the menu, and I got the passion fruit mango shaved ice with a berry smoothie. both were top-notch, not overly sweet, and just really fresh. The seating area is small but super cute, and the whole place is sparkling clean inside and out. I really appreciate a business that prioritizes cleanliness, especially for food. Prices are reasonable, about $10 to $12 for a shaved ice or smoothie, and it was definitely worth it. I highly recommend giving it a try! read more

This was my first time trying Japanese Kakigori and the quality here is supreme! They use ice blocks that are flavored with the base you want that has a soft texture of snow. You can tell its quality since I got their seasonal hongsi (persimmon) shaved ice and you can taste the fruit in there that's sweetened the perfect amount. I love the bits of fruit chunks here and there. On top comes with a creamy, coconut haupia like cream where they provide a cookie on top. The coconut cream top goes sooo well with the persimmon ice and leaves your sweet tooth satisfied. Eating this is perfect for a light dessert, sweet craving, and you feel so refreshed after. I would say one Kakigori is perfect for one person since it's so light and refreshing! I def wouldn't want to share lol. read more
One of my new favorite shaved ice spots in LA!! Everything is vegan and SO DELIGHTFUL! The ice is incredibly fluffy. Plus, paired with the coconut cream makes a for a perfect bite, chef's kiss!! We got the strawberry flavor and it's not too sweet. They mentioned their top 3 are mango passion fruit, strawberry and matcha. Can't wait to come back and try other flavors. There's plenty of street parking, and the store is very clean. The staff is helpful in answering any questions. Highly recommend!! I just had to make this stop because I needed something yummy. I order the matcha block shake and honestly it was pretty refreshing and creamy in texture and what I needed. I love the concept that they have with their shakes by using an ice block. They are made with avocado, coconut, cacao and maple syrup blended with ceremonial matcha, Madagascar vanilla and oats. New shaved ice spot in West Hollywood. I think it might be Korean. One hour free parking in the same plaza as trader joe's by Avalon apartments. I swung by during my grocery shopping when I saw a large poster for this place. The interior contains modern wooden and industrial aesthetic. It's really quiet as it just opened recently and no one really knows about it. I was going to order shaved ice, but they didn't have a lid. So I opted for their Hojicha blockshake instead. Hojicha is a Japanese green tea known for its roasted charcoal flavor and red texture. The caffeine is relatively mild, and the flavors are the top notch. Place uses non GMO, dairy-free and vegan ingredients. read more

So good! Can't tell it is vegan. We heard about this place on social media and had to check it out. It did not disappoint. Located in a quiet neighborhood, there is metered street parking as well as a visitor parking area. The establishment has a nice chill atmosphere. Service was pretty friendly and the shaved ice came out fairly quickly despite the fact that there was only one person working at the time that we went. We had the strawberry and matcha shaved ice. Both were delicious with the right amount of sweetness. The quality of the shaved ice was one of the best we have had thus far. The ice was so soft and fluffy. It was more like ribbons of cotton that melted in your mouth. We will have to come back again and try the other flavors. read more
FINALLY a spot to get vegan shaved ice. FOOD: - The shaved ice is not very sweet. Perfect if you get overwhelmed by the sweetness of your typical desserts. The ice itself has very little sweetness, but the coconut cream and cookie on top makes up for it. - Portions are smaller than your usual shaved ice at say, a Korean bingsoo spot. It's more of a single serving rather than a sharable. - A lot of care goes into the presentation. See pictures below. Just look at that marvelous texture. Amazing dessert place!! I love how everything is really modern and minimal with an elevated feel. They have quite a simple, but delicious menu with great flavors. Everything here is vegan friendly (coconut & oat based)! Each item is made per order and comes with coconut whipped cream (it's so creamy) and a gluten free cookie. We ordered the cashew coconut, matcha, blue blackberry & a hojicha blocshake. I couldn't decide on a favorite as they were all super good, but the matcha and blue blackberry stood out to me the most. The matcha was a true matcha flavor as it wasn't overly sweet and has a hint of umami & bitterness. The blue blackberry was delicious as it was tangy & tart and the coconut whipped cream made the perfect bite! The service was really amazing, the individual helping us was extremely kind and attentive! Definitely will be back when in the area! read more

After a day at the La Brea Tar Pits with my friend's niece and nephew, it was time for a snack and they requested shaved ice on this hot day. Mewame came up closest on the search so we made our way there. It's in the same plaza as an apartment complex and a Trader Joes. They have free 1 hour parking in the structure or there are also metered spots in front as well. They have nice menu with options for their coconut cream base or their oat based. We all tried a different flavor and I chose the seasonal honey pandan. The place is cute with inside seating. They also have shakes in addition to the shaved ice. They have an assortment of toppings but the ones we had were delicious not needing any. The prices are affordable and perfect sized portions. The ice is nice and fluffy but also with a creamy texture so you get the best of shaved ice. I will definitely make my way there again. Newest shaved ice spot in weho and we loved it! I was able to drive past the Tesla diner to get a sneak peak while on our way here! Came here pretty late before closing, around 9:20 so we luckily found a vacant meter parking. The place was super clean and minimal. 8 shaved ice machines for the flavors they were offering. FYI, it's a vegan friendly place! Everything was either coconut cream based or oat based. We ordered the matcha shaved ice and the seasonal honeydew pandan. Both were soo good. Was hesitant on the vegan coconut whipped cream but it ended up working and was a very subtle coconut flavor. Workers were nice and very meticulous to clean up the sides of the container to avoid a mess and made sure the dollop of cream was just perfect. The shaved ice was sooo soft and light. What an absolutely delightful Matcha Ice cream! Light and fluffy and the cream topper adds an even greater taste that makes you go Mmm Mmm Mmmm!! (It's ice cream, but shaved, so keep that in mind. Cannot express how excited I was to have discovered a new vegan/GF dessert spot in LA, and mewame is an absolute gem for those interested in healthier sweet treats! Their menu currently consists of coconut shaved ice and blockshakes, which I actually have no idea what they are and def want to try next time. My friend and I shared the mango passionfruit shaved ice, which is coconut base with a coconut (dairy-free) cream and a GF cookie garnish on top! First impression - the shaved ice was beautifully ruffled, the signature snowy Korean bingsoo that is silky soft and melted in your mouth, not too sweet, and I will say there is a bit of a nutty aftertaste but I mean, *surprise* it's vegan! Was also slightly reminiscent of Awan (another amazing vegan dessert spot). The mango passionfruit itself had that refreshing taste of summer with a hint of tartness. They were very busy as they only had two workers but still had quick service and were very sweet. I'm also a huge fan of the concept behind the brand - the 미와미 (beauty + taste) idea is genius. The inside space is simple and clean, modern with wooden and industrial interior that fits a good amount of seats. New Korean dessert spot in West Hollywood featuring vegan, gluten free, and not too sweet shaved ice desserts! I visited this dessert shop on a Friday night after a heavy dinner and this was a nice, light treat to satisfy my sweet tooth. My friend and I ordered the matcha and the seasonal honeydew panda shaved ice desserts to share and both were great! - Matcha: Had a nice earthy and nutty flavor. Perfect for people who don't like sweet desserts and it was visually pretty. - Honeydew Pandan: Loved the fruity and pandan flavor of this one. Was me and my friend's favorite! The textures were really good and the ice was soft. Also loved the soft vegan whipped cream and the cute little cookie on top. The interior is nice and clean. The staff are super friendly and the service was great. For parking it's street parking only I believe. Overall, a great experience here!! I love the aesthetic as well as the healthier desserts. I felt good eating the shaved ice. I would love to come back again to try the other shaved ice flavors and their shakes. read more
