Excellent Philly roll better than my local sushi Dan place where I live in nc. Service was slow even though the place was empty Sunday lunchtime. Food-5stars Service- 1star

I've been here twice, the first time it was a bit sub-par. Not bad, but not great. The first time was early on a Tuesday night, so imagine they're not at their best on a slow weekday. I ordered the hibachi steak, which is a New York strip. All of these entrees come with a TON of food as is typical of hibachi joints. You could definitely split a meal between two people easily. I find it very hard to complain between the quality of the meat and the sheer volume of food you receive in comparison to the price. My hibachi steak consisted of two good sized NY strips ($26.50), I was shocked when they were both for me after watching him cook it. I asked for medium rare, the steak was clearly more on the rare side. At least it wasn't over. Anything above a medium is a cardinal sin in my book. There was a couple at our table that ordered sushi as an appetizer and it came out at the end of the meal. The waitress kept telling them the sushi bar was backed up, but the place was clearly not busy at all. So there's that. The second time was much better. Much more lively and better service. I got the filet mignon (30.50) this time, medium rare. The cook was perfect, the filet was huge, and the meat was tender and juicy. I learned my lesson the first time and waited until the meat came so I could make sure I finished the important part. The ambiance here is well below other hibachi places I've visited. The bathrooms are filthy and the floors don't even look like they finished building the restaurant before they decided to open it. The chefs on the other hand are very skilled and very professional. Very nice and always smiling. I thought about giving 3 stars, but the quantity and quality of expensive cuts of beef earned it 4. Go check it out if you're hungry and want a quaint dinner, but for fancier occasions I'd explore other options.

Excellent gluten free guidance and options. The Pacific Roll was DELICIOUS!!!! I ordered the shrimp hibachi and that too was delicious!!!! I can't wait to come back!!!

I ordered hibachi chicken and steak (not at the hibachi table).

See my previous review. Here are the pics. I ordered hibachi chicken and steak (not from the hibachi table area). It looked like scrapings from other plates. Did I complain? Ask for the manager? Why...they know what they are serving. Terrible!!! My second and last bad visit to Marasuke.

1st, I would give this Restaurant 6 Stars if I could. My Wife, Son and Daughter-in-law dined at the Matsutake Sushi and Steak House on Saturday of Labor Day Weekend for our Son's birthday and we were pleasantly surprised by the upscaled Quality and Quantity of Food we received and we have been going there to celebrate birthdays as long as the Business has been open in Frederick. It has been remodeled and we know over time that it's been under changing ownership, but never before has there been this big of a Dining Selection on the Hibachi or on the regular menu. On this latest visit, the Soup was very tasty, which is not typical and the salad was much larger and also very tasty with their House Dressing plentiful in the salad. I couldn't believe that my Wife required 2 plates and she ordered the Veggie Hibachi plate. Also, the 1st time ever that I actually had to take half of my food home, and I ordered the Filet Mignon and Shrimp. *1 Big Star Rating that must be mentioned is that their Shrimp was by far the Very Best tasting I have ever eaten their and actually regretted not getting the double-shrimp platter.

    NY Steak and Scallops Combo

This was definitely one of those experiences where it was not spectacular, but it was not that bad either, and at the end of the day, I may consider coming back again, as this was probably more closer to a 3.5 star review. Me and a friend came by on a weekday night (I believe a Thursday) and it was not so shockingly slow that day and time. When we asked if we can do hibachi, we would unfortunately have to wait at least 15-20 minutes, so we just decided to eat at one of the regular tables (which was a first for me at a hibachi restaurant) Once we sat down, we received menus and service right away. We were served soup and salad, and we ate them, nothing special about the salad and soup. Not too long later, we got the main course, and I decided on the NY Steak and Scallops combo. When we received our plates, we realized the serving size was definitely enough to make hunger disappear. Unfortunately, I ordered my steak medium rare and I got mine well-done, so that was a blunder on their part, but the food itself tasted to as expected. I feel like I get a bit more meat on the hibachi tables, but this plate was not far off. The food had enough flavor and was able to finish everything. Overall, with the steak cooked wrong and the fact that I did not feel that I got enough value for what I paid for (probably because we did not do hibachi), I'd say this experience was up the middle, as I do think the service was excellent in this restaurant.

The food is still very good, although I've noticed a slight decline in quality over my last two visits. That said, it hasn't been enough to keep me from coming back. Overall, it's a great restaurant and one I'd still recommend to anyone visiting or living in Frederick.

Did local boy Joey Madrones open his own joint? I know there is beer involved so I grab my co workers and we head on over to Madrones. We're here during the week and the place is jumpin'! I did not make a reservation and was able to snag a table with no wait. The beer selection is quite substantial with 24 beers on tap. I ordered a Hefeweizen to get the dinner party started. I started with the Fried Chesapeake Oysters. I mean, we're in Maryland so seafood is a must. The fried oysters were plump and quite tasty. Madrones is known for their Prime Rib so I ordered a small cut to start. The Au Jus along with the steak was a perfect cut for me. It's well seasoned, perfectly cooked, tender, and very flavorful The jus that comes with it is beefy and not over-salted as many are. My only gripe: you have to ask for horseradish to add to their horseradish sauce as it's really weak. I always the same sides: Caesar Salad and a baked potato. The salad is drenched with dressing by default, so I've learned to ask for dressing on the side. (And to 86 the sun-dried tomatoes. Who does that to a Caesar?). The potato is always well baked, with a fluffy interior and crisp exterior (and yes, I eat the skin. As my Mom used to say, "That's where the nutrients are"). I always ask for LOTS of butter, always get less butter than I want (they will bring more). I also always ask for chives, but they send out scallions (and actually had a server tell me their cook said "what's the difference?"). Minor quibbles all. A nice bourbon cocktail and warm rolls with honey butter to start, and my dinner is complete. No idea about their desserts; never made it that far, but someday... Enjoy!

Our server was knowledgeable and professional. She welcomed us, explained the menu and quickly brought brought water and lemons for the water. She was fantastic throughout the meal and made our experience wonderful. We ordered French onion soup and a "special" of fried green tomatoes for our appetizers. Complimentary, fresh, warm, honey-wheat bread with both regular and cinnamon sugar butters, was brought to the table. The bread had a very nice texture. The French onion soup was very delicious and not too sweet! It was perfectly balanced. The fried green tomatoes were fresh and the breading was perfectly crispy. However the "seasoning" was in the mildly spicy remoulade, which was served on the side. We also ordered a broiled seafood platter with sides of broccoli and twice baked potato. The hubs ordered char-grilled pork chops, grilled asparagus, and potato au gratin. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasty. We really enjoyed everything. Regarding ambiance, the dining room looks a bit formal with its white table cloth and dim lighting. However, everyone dressed casually - jeans, shorts, etc. This made for a very relaxed atmosphere. But..... Ultimately, and in spite of all the good, I will deduct one star simply because I believe the entire menu is overpriced.

It was our first year of dating anniversary but we failed to notice when looking the place up that they closed at 7:30pm. We walked in at about 7:40pm and the bartender regretfully informed us that they had just closed. We accepted the situation for the error it was on our part and opted to go elsewhere. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. I had mentioned that I had a spur of the moment 'hankerin' for German Food, and he said, "Well, you're at the right place!" Before we got back in the front door, one of the chefs (we learned shortly after were the owners) was already letting the bar staff know to get us seated and taken care of. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We of course sampled each others' dishes and it was beyond amazing on both entrees. Some of the best schnitzel I've had NOT in Europe, and the mushroom onion gravy was so savory and rich. The Chicken was loaded with flavor and I could definitely see that being on a future order for myself. After we were beyond stuffed, we decided to split a dessert for the occasion and had the Chocolate Mousse Cake. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town. It was such a memorable experience and we so greatly appreciated the flexibility and hospitality they demonstrated. That type of service is so hard to find these days. Beyond that, I REALLY want to try those Eclairs on a Thursday!
