Not good, I do not recommend this place at all. The place just didn't look very clean at first glance. 4 - 5 tables had not been cleared yet, and it wasn't very busy. Sat at a table by the service counter it was a black counter. From my angle I saw how dirty it was on the sides, food and liquid splatter that was very visible in the light. Ok, so the food.. ugh. Awful. TheSkinny: a total disaster. Chicken sausage w eggs with a side salad. I took one bite of the sausage, no thanks. It was very soft, with a very rubbery casing. Gross. Salad was on same plate as my eggs that was COVERED in dressing, I mean really DRENCHED. I don't mind a salad tossed w vinegarette, but holy cow that amount is unnecessary, and it was very salty. Eggs didn't taste good either and had dressing all over it. A total mess. I took a little bite of everything, I couldn't eat it. My son's Breakfast sandwich was not good. Bacon might as well have been a slice of wood. Big huge bun for a thin piece of fried egg w some weird looking onions? Hash browns were gray, soft, not one crispy shred of potato. What the heck!? The one griddle pancake we shared was actually good. The owners need to wake up. The cook/chef needs to pay attention to what they're preparing and putting out to customers. No care into their food. A mimosa flight composed of 3 different fruits were pleasantly greeted with a bowl of ancient grains, spinach and mushrooms, beans and fresh herbs. The shared Belgian waffle hit that sweet spot perfectly, balancing our indulgent tastebuds. The Chop and Chick, my husband's all-time favorite, is just as good at this new location as it was at the original location downtown. I've now been to both Matt's BB, downtown and Arrowhead. Won't be going back to the Arrowhead location. The plate with my breakfast (I had an omelet and hash browns) was greasy from the hash browns, which didn't taste or look like made from scratch, more like frozen. Also, the grease tasted 'off' so the omelet and potatoes also had an 'off' taste. There was only one kind of hot sauce. The toast was OK, but the coffee was very weak - no bueno. I went early so seating and service were no problem. This location needs to up its game a lot before I'll go back. read more

Went into Matt's for the first time on Saturday. They were very under staffed and service was slow which wouldn't be an issue if the food was good. However, I ordered the big papa burrito and it was swimming in liquid. The entire inside of the burrito was mush and you couldn't tell the difference between the eggs , potatoes and whatever else they put in there. My friend ordered the avocado toast which has a $2.00 up charge just to add a egg and the toast wasn't even toasted and the $2.00 egg was still clear on the sides indicating it was not fully cooked. There were 4 of us total and the bill came out to over $70.00 before tip. The food portions are small and have absolutely zero taste. This rating is based on the last four visits. We have been dining at this location since it opened but today's visit finally warrants a review. Matt and his lovely wife have created an incredible series of locations. We've always enjoyed their food and the service. This location has been different and frustrating since it opened. I am tired of making excuses for this location's food and service. It is bad. There has never been a sense of urgency and the staff is normally rude and at best indifferent. You are not greeted. Their system for taking names is dysfunctional. There is usually a wait despite multiple tables being empty but requiring bussing. The servers appear to not have assigned tables and therefore the idea is that they are to help all the tables. The result is no one knows if the table has been greeted or assisted and since there isn't a dedicated busser- the tables don't get cleared, cleaned, and reset. I think it is odd to be asked if anyone has helped us yet when you are sitting with a menu and no beverage. When you do finally get a drink, you are made to feel badly when your glass is empty and you ask for a refill. You have to ask for refills of coffee and water always. Today, I waited a very long time to be acknowledged at the door just to put my name on the list. When my name was finally taken-incorrectly twice- I was told the wait time despite multiple empty tables and no one at the bar. The bar is set up as a bussing station for the servers and I was told I couldn't sit there. Once we were finally seated, I ordered a hickory burger medium rare. The wait for the food was very long. When I finally got my food it was well done. The server asked my husband how his steak was prepared and never thought to acknowledge or ask me. I stopped her stating the my order was overcooked. Instead of apologizing and working to correct it, she looked at her order pad to see how I had actually ordered the burger. When she acknowledged I had actually ordered medium rare, she said they could remake it and it wouldn't take all that long to get medium rare. At that point I just wanted to be done. I gave the burger to my husband and just left. This isn't how the other Matt's are run. This is not an inexpensive restaurant. Our bill for two people is well over $50. This location is not a good representation of the brand. read more

I'm mostly stuck on their hog and chick breakfast because their rosemary home fried potatoes, thick cut peppered bacon and toast with homemade jam can't be beat. Where do I begin...I drove 20 miles out of my way to eat here do to the thousands or magazine writeups and the numerous about of great reviews this restaurant was given. Yet, much to my dismay I was highly disappointed in the service, food, and price of this restaurant. I love to eat out and find myself a bit of a foodie and out of the the places I have eaten at this was the first time I didn't feel like a tip was even warranted. My wife and u both had the two eggs combo plate with hers being over easy eggs and mine being scrambled. My wife's eggs were perfectly cooked and at first glance mine were as well however when you bit into them they were so dry and overcooked even the ketchup on table couldn't help. Then ketchup was so sweet you might ass well have poured a pixie stick all over my plate. My wife sausage links were cook perfectly where as mine we just browned and served leaving the putrid luke warm and the center undercooked and cold. Next the brick of Hasbrowns started out super promising yet after you got through the top layer the rest of the potatoes were not cooked greasy and watery. Lastly the toast served with the meal was a nice touch but every bite was like an pure injection of butter down my throat. This my the bread unpleasant and would have Eben made Paula Deen cringe in horror.. I will never be back unless many changes are made. read more

I am sad because I really hoped to like this restaurant. I had the pancakes and bacon and thought that would be hard to get wrong. Well....I found I was wrong. The bacon was flavorless and had the consistency of jerky. The syrup is supposed to be amazing but it tasted like the fake sugar flavored syrup I buy at Sprouts. I give this placed 2 stars just because the people that work here are awesome but the food is not. They prep the food ahead of time so it's fast but you get cold toast and pancakes that the butter doesn't even melt on. In fact sitting at the counter there was a pile of cold toast stacked. The hashbrowns were old and not good. I think the only thing I got cooked to order was the eggs. I was excited for this place to open and have had mediocre food twice now. We have been here the past 2 weekends in a row and I'm sure we'll be there again next weekend. The food is SO fresh, and absolutely delicious every time. They use only fresh, local ingredients and you can tell. The portions are generous, the menu isn't huge which is usually a good sign of quality food. They don't have a kids menu but my boys can get a full breakfast just ordering a side of pancakes and eggs. The service is excellent, they are very attentive and quick. We haven't met one server who wasn't extremely kind and attentive. The wait isn't terrible either, we always get in much quicker than the time quoted which is very nice with hungry kids. We have been recommending this spot to all of our family & friends who appreciate a quality, hearty breakfast! read more

We've driven by here a few times and it's always packed with people waiting outside. Got here about 9:45 this morning and luckily a table was just being cleaned, so no wait (lots waiting when we left). I had a breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. The thick bacon on it and the grilled onions really made it! My husband had an omelette with potatoes and he raves about the potatoes. His also came with thick rustic bread and berry jam that he really liked. It's a little cramped inside, as they fit a lot of tables into a small space. My husband and I had been wanting to try Matt's for quite some time. Last Saturday we finally made it. They were semi busy, but the wait was about 15 mins. The hostess was very friendly and quoted appropriately. We got seated, a gentleman came and got our drink order. They don't have coke/Pepsi, only bottled soda (can't remember the name). RC taste. Smaller menu, but good options. Someone different took our order. Someone else delivered our food. I had asked ahead of time for extra butter and needed syrup but they forgot that.but that's okay... it happens. But what truly bothered us was that not one person checked on us. My husband wanted salsa/hot sauce for his burrito and my pancakes were bone dry at this point. My water glass was empty, I drank all of my husbands water. His soda was empty. He finished his burrito and really liked it. I really enjoyed the flavor of the pancakes... they did not taste like every other place. Wish I would have been able to finish them.. but I don't like dry pancakes. The hostess cleared our plates, ran our card and wished us a good day. "Drop checks, turn tables..." I finally go around to trying the new Matt's Big Breakfast. I was a regular and huge fan of the original, tiny location. What a big disappointment this Glendale location is. Half empty at noon. Indifferent servers. And the food was mediocre at best. Blueberry pancakes were decent, but hash browns and Salami Scramble were both overcooked and luke warm when they finally arrived. We were so excited to finally try this location and the wait time was short only to be highly disappointed. As soon as we arrived the hostess appeared to not like her job. My daughter had to ask her if she wanted her name to add to the list after she asked for the wait time. When it was our turn she points and says that one back there with the menus on it. Our waitress wasn't interested in service at all and we only saw her twice. When we get our food it was not good. Hash browns were bland and no taste but grease. I asked for cheese on them and got a pound added which ruined them. Large portion, and ok service. The food was covered in black pepper on my bacon and hash browns. I am not a fan of black pepper. I don't know if they can make it without all that pepper.
