They don't have their physical locations anymore. They are by appointment and operate from home. So don't bother trying to navigate around the massive construction zone and the fitness camp runners nextdoor to get to them. Don't know how long ago they closed the physical location, but it must be pretty recent as Google maps still had an active listing. They called me back in less than 20 minutes though and she apologized for all the confusion. Unfortunately they don't work on my type of clocks so I have to go somewhere else. But it sounds like they can work on anything that is battery operated. Hopefully their website presence can get updated soon so no more runners have a near death experience from a bad lost driver on a Saturday. Just disappointed bc this was the only clock shop in San Antonio that showed as even having Saturday hours. But at least they answer the phone on Saturdays. :) read more

Matter of Time is by far THE best clock shop in Texas! I am not exaggerating, I was very concerned about taking our family heirloom German cuckoo clock anywhere to be repaired; but based on the excellent reviews that Matter of Time had, I was willing to give them a chance. I was rewarded for my faith! Mando and Mary are the skilled professionals you can trust your most valued timepieces with, and two of nicest folks you'll ever meet. Despite being extremely busy, they took the time to explain several key matters about our clock to us. While I felt a bit guilty taking up their precious time, I was very grateful to them for all the information. It demonstrated how dedicated they are to their craft and the excellent customer service they provide! Now, two caveats. Their reputation proceeds them, so they have more business than they can handle so make sure you have an appointment before bringing your items in. Secondly, they have specific hours that they're open, so make sure they're there before you go! But like us you will be confident that only the very best are working on your clock or watch. In fact, they kept our clock a bit longer than planned just so they would be 100% assured that it was working correctly (and it is!). The only shock was how reasonable their prices were. I honestly expected to pay several times more for the work we had done, but it's clear they are more concerned about doing the job right than just making a buck or two. We are sold on Matter of Time. There are few businesses these days that honestly deserve their reputation and customer loyalty, but this is one of them. They've made a fan out of me! Went to Matter of Time for a battery change and to discuss a possible restoration on my grandmother's old Bulova wrist watch. The battery change was quick and very affordable. The restoration question was eye opening, she gave me lots of information about vintage watch restoration. After my education, it didn't make sense to pursue a restoration after all. When you have a couple of watches not working and you don't know where to go, I can almost always count on my fellow Yelpers to cast a bit of light on the darkness. This time, like most others, they came through. Matter of Time is a small clock shop situated in a strip mall just a few blocks south of Hwy 410 on Blanco Rd. Inside you'll find a small shop, which upon first impressions, is well used. There are clocks of all varieties to include wall clocks, grandfather clocks, mantle clocks etc. They also have a selection of pocket watches, chains, and wristwatches. It appears they keep quite well as half the clocks on the displays and counters were there for repair or had been repaired and awaiting pickup. There were two people in front of me which necessitated a small wait. When it was my turn, I explained to the man that I needed a watch battery replacement. After a quick visual inspection he said it would be just a minute -- and it was, well maybe 5 minutes. He returned with the watch up and running, back to its former glory. I then asked him about the other watch I had, a Hermes watch that my wife had tried to get fixed in Japan. She had been informed by the staff there that the battery had leaked and would require between $200-300 worth of work. She declined. Well, the woman, I assumed to be the man's wife, took the watch in back for a closer inspection. She returned to tell us that the battery had indeed leaked and caused some corrosion. I was waiting to hear to expensive bad news... She stated that she could try to use a special brush and chemical (I think) to remove the gunk but that it may or may not work, before disappearing into the back. About 10 minutes later she returned polishing up the watch. The hands were moving and everything seemed to work. She took the time to explain that the cleaning seemed to work but that the leakage could have seeped into the mechanism; only time would tell. Long story short, 2 watch batteries replaced with some minor surgery to bring one back from the dead. Usually each battery replacement is $10 but on the minor repair cost us an extra $5. In total, $25 plus tax seemed like a pretty good deal. Both staff members were extremely kind, explained what was done, and left you feeling confident that if anything turns up wrong, they'll take care of you. It's only a matter of time before we will all need to get our watch batteries changed and based on this experience, Matter of Time will be my go to, and recommended to others, shop for clock and watch services. read more

Came here to get a battery replaced for a watch. Nobody else in town was willing to do it, they all wanted to send it out to get done and probably for some exorbitant price. Mary and Mando got the watch in and done in less than 10 minutes for way less than what anybody else would charge me. After reading several positive reviews I am still left stunned a day later at how rude the gentleman was that "attended" me at the counter. Without so much as a smile or "hello" he looked at me and said "what do you need"; "do you have an appointment"; "well you need one"; "if you found us online it tells you there". I found them on Yelp and the "rules" of this business don't jump out in the reviews. Took in an antique clock that I just received. I was so excited to surprise my husband with his grandmother's treasure for Christmas in working order. I guess it was "Armando" I was dealing with that other reviewing customers had mentioned. My clock was in a box (and never taken out) as he proceeded to tell me it would be 2 years before "he" could even "look at it" and that "clocks like this usually cost $895.00 to fix" (how did he know what kind of clock it was or what repair it needed?). He suggested that I "call around to see if I could find another place where it might cost less". I stood dumbfounded. All of this while my clock sat in the box and 3 other customers were browsing around in the tiny shop listening. Condescending and patronizing is the best description of his presentation. How about this Armando?: "I'm so sorry ma'am but we require an appointment as we are extremely backlogged. I wish I could help you but if you need this repaired anytime soon I'm afraid it won't be possible". Mention of the mythical cost was irrelevant if I was being sent away to call around" to other places. Guess he thought I couldn't afford whatever the cost was...uncertain...just baffled still! So my advice is only go to this place if you have a watch (most other customers had success with those). It IS "a matter of time" and you won't be given much of that. read more

I have taken several watches for batteries and repair over the last several years and have been treated like royalty, and at a very reasonable cost. They are very busy at times, but if you want the best you may have to wait your turn. Please ignore the low ratings from the spoiled brats who expect a business to stop working and wait on them or return a voice message. I was there today and there were two customers ahead of me. I was cordially greeted and advised that I would be served soon. This gave me the opportunity to browse among countless grandfather clocks and other antiques. One of the men's families asked to replace a specific watch that he had on during his captivity. The watch was a rare and expensive SEIKO ($500). My husband was asked to locate the watch by his family members. After searching every jewelry store in San Antonio, he called Matter of Time, while in route to their store. The owners Armando and Mary Garza had already closed for the day. My husband described the watch to them and why he was looking for it. They owners turned their car around and returned to open the store to help him out. Not only did they have the watch, but they also discounted it nearly 50%. San Antonio is truly lucky to have such a wonderful gem of a shop. I own a couple of dress watches and I have always struggled with where to take them when they need a battery change. I have tried big box stores and local jewelers with mixed results. I wanted to take my watch to a place that I could trust not to break it and, at the same time, not charge ridiculous amounts of money for new batteries. I was so glad I found Matter of Time and its co-owner, Mary. Mary and her husband have been in business for a few years and have worked hard to keep their customers happy. She told me that many other clock repair shops around town have closed down over the years, resulting in an influx of customers to their shop. In spite of all the business they get, they never seem to take their customers for granted. From the second I walked in the door to the second I left, Mary was nothing but courteous and friendly. I made it to the shop a half hour before closing to have my watch battery changed. I was in a hurry because I had an appointment to make, so Mary immediately took my watch and changed out the dead battery. It took all of 15 minutes. But, in those 15 minutes, I could see that they not only repaired, but also sold clocks. Though many people might not necessarily be in the market for a new clock, everyone needs to have their watch repaired or batteries replaced at one time or another. When this is the case, get in your car, drive to Matter of Time, and thank God that we still have a watch/clock workshop in town that can provide excellent, attentive service. read more

So disappointed. I have a Grandfather clock that needs slight adjustments and normal maintenance. Due to the high ratings, I called them and left a voicemail enquiring as to whether or not they made house calls to service Grandfather clocks. I slowly left my name and number and am disappointed to say they never even bothered to call me back with a yes or no. In my view that was disrespectful and unprofessional of them. Who knows what other timepieces I may or may not have with repair needs in the future? I actually do have a smaller pendulum clock that I would like a different chime installed. It certainly won't be done at Matter of Time if I do. Bad business practices, in my opinion. read more

This hidden gem is tucked away in a strip center off Blanco Road and is well worth the trip. They repaired a small Waterford clock insert that had been inoperable for 15-20 years. (It was the first gift my hubby ever gave after we met 30+ years ago and it has sentimental value even broken.) I had the battery replaced years ago at a big box store and they failed to recognize that the problem was not with the battery but with one of the clock hands. It was bowed and stopped the second hand from sweeping. Mary at Matter of Time noticed it right away! After a new battery and straightening of the hand, the clock is back in working order! What impressed me most about this store is the attention to detail performed by caring, qualified people. Mary communicated constantly with me regarding the status of my repair and even sent me a video of the clock's hand freely sweeping when it was repaired. She even followed up with a phone call a couple of days later to make sure all was working well. One final note is that this level of care was for a job that cost me less than thirty bucks! The world would be a better place if more businesses followed Matter of Time's example. read more

While spending a few days in San Antonio I took my Omega Constellation watch in to have the battery replaced. It had been needing to be replaced for several months, but I was reluctant to mail it to the nearest Omega dealer some 250 miles from me!
