Went in and was not greeted by anyone. Couldn't get past the service. Sad as it was real close to our hotel.

My husband and I cancelled a reservation at a more upscale restaurant to get immediate seating here. It's an open air restaurant with water views and a full bar. We were not disappointed! We started with the goat cheese bruschetta and the fired calamari. The bread was delicious and beautifully presented! The calamari was perfectly cooked, light and flaky. My husband opted for the buffalo wings with ranch. The wings were huge and the homemade ranch dressing will make you slap your mama! I had the firecracker chicken sandwich. It was served open faced on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato and red onions. There was a mishap, as I requested the firecracker aioli sauce on the side and it came spread over the chicken. Our waitress, Toni, immediately returned it to the kitchen and brought out a fresh plate. The chicken was breaded and deep fried. It was delicious! I had fries and gave my husband the fresh, truffle mashed potatoes. The food here is locally sourced and the recipes, original. The service was exceptional and the prices very reasonable. Went for Mother's Day brunch. Food was ok, desserts were nice. Coffee is good and served hot. Prime rib exceedingly fatty, like the entire slice was fat and totally cold under a heat lamp. Nice overall selection, tho, the buffet hot dishes on the bar are way too high up to be convenient. Husband says green beans were very tough. There is no indoor seating, under a roof, but no walls. It was very windy but hot the day we were there. We sat beside two noisy big box floor fans, with two noisy ones overhead. Very noisy for hearing persons, absolute torment for those with hearing aids. Difficult to converse. The chairs are tolerable for only half an hour. The applied gratuity for our group was 20% for drinks server who gave me sweet tea when asked for unsweetened. A bit much for self-service, hiking around the buffet areas, not good for the elderly or handicapped, we had to serve the elders. Real cost per person closer to $50 each for not really worth it Grade C. We won't be back. read more

Ordered calamari and a hamburger with sweet potato fries. Calamari was good but came with a little thing of marinara. I had to ask 3 times before a server finally brought more back out. The hamburger was ordered as medium. It came out raw! Really who can't cook a hamburger? Had to send back and no attempt to revise our bill for the problems. Can't say we'd eat there again. Music was good. Very good actually. Until Barbie - a local customer who appears to pretend to do belly dancing- tried to give her own floor show. We could see couples waiting to get up and dance but Barbie had the floor. When Barbie finally sat down, couples filled the dance floor and Barbie danced on the side when she returned. We went for lunch and it was not very busy at all. I wanted a Cuban sandwich but I am lactose intolerant and asked if they could make one with out cheese. I was informed by my waitress that this was a "chefs item" and that there were no substitutions. I informed her that I had an allergy and she said it didn't matter it couldn't happen and that if she asked the chef (who I believe is the owner) would get mad. How on earth can you not manage to make a sandwich without cheese for someone who can't eat it?! In what world is that too much to ask?? Came in for lunch. They had two servers on and a bartender. Four tables in the restaurant. Bartender waited on us but didn't do a good job. Was busy making drinks for servers and was in the back room a lot. Chowder was bland but the apple salad was good. Just a very relaxed staff. No sense of urgency. We had a perfect 4th of July at Mattison's City Grille!! Our ribs were the best we've ever had! When we lived in Nevada we went to the Rib Cookoff in Reno every year. We think Mattisons would earn 1st prize for their ribs. Our waitress was friendly, speedy, and our drinks and shared appetizer were good too! We really enjoyed the band playing on the 4th. What was their name? We'd go to hear them again. Fun music that had everyone toe-tapping.To top it off, we had a perfect view of the fireworks and didn't have to leave our table, which was perfect because our friend with us had hurt her back. Mattison's Riverwalk Grille is a mixed bag. It is open air under a roof, with a full bar. I've eaten there several times. There is live music sometimes. The wait service generally is good, but the kitchen is very, very slow, and food quality is not always good. I've had chicken wings (good), shrimp rangoon appetizer (good), teriyaki shrimp wrap (good), and steak salad (good). The last time I had surf and turf , steak, lobster tail, and a salad. This was served literally one hour and ten minutes after I sat down. I had to go back to the kitchen to ask about getting my food. The filet mignon(rare) was excellent, but the lobster tail must have been under the broiler for an hour, since it was scorched, burned, and inedible. The salad was the worst I've seen. Flat, limp, awful lettuce, vinaigrette mixed in what was blue cheese dressing...inedible. Suggest that customers eat at the bar where the bartender is compelled to put pressure on the kitchen, make amends for bad food, and stick with appetizers. read more

Great location...but wish I would of drove to Sarasota for better quality. I'm obsessed with the Bianca pizza at the location in Sarasota, but this location was not even close in comparison. The spinach was tossed whole not chopped in the middle of the pizza, it was burnt & the artichokes were only cut in half not diced....needless to say I was extremely disappointed & the drinks weren't much better. Our waitress never offered us their amazing bread & made it a point that they were closing soon & was trying to get rid of us. Bye bye Bradenton...I'm going back to Sarasota! read more

We've been here many times in the past and the last few were disappointing to say the least. We've been a fan of Mattison's in Sarasota, and since we live closer to this location we frequent the Bradenton location. The service has been extremely lousy and the staff has been rude the last couple of times that we've been here. Tonight my wife and I decided to eat dinner at Mattison's. We came to the restaurant at 8:15 and waited for someone to seat us whom we could clearly see wandering around doing random tasks. When she finally came over to seat us she told us that they close at 9 o'clock and that our server will be with us shortly. We sat and waited for our server who was nowhere around. There were only two other tables with guests so I'm not sure what could have taken him so long to get to our table. Obviously it wasn't because he was overwhelmed. After waiting we decided that we're just going to leave and go to Pier 22 where they always have great atmosphere, views, food, and service. That was the last time I'll ever go to Mattison's. Every time we've been here we've been treated poorly. I guess because we're in our 30's we are just not treated quite the same. When in any business if you're open until a certain time that is what time you stop accepting customers not close the business. Rude poor service in the past and the food has been mediocre at best our last couple visits. Save your money and time. Go somewhere that actually has views, good service, and great food. read more

The food was absolutely wonderful! As we received our check and are discussing who's paying what the waitress sees a twenty on the table and under her breath (so we all could hear) states "20$ for a 200$ tip are you kidding me!" As she's clearing the table continues mumbling outboard about it! When we go out One person takes the check and the rest split up the tip amongst the group.! We had not completed that when she walked up to the table. As we were walking out of the restaurant she is standing there and does not think us for coming in she continues to complain out loud about a $20 tip. At that time one of the members of our party confronted her about what she was doing and that it was very rude and she had no idea what we had left her for a tip.Rudest service person we have ever had. A mixed bag for sure. The kale salad with brussel sprouts was very good. The roast beef sushi was cut too thick and too tough to chew. The pizza was good but had to be re cooked as it was burnt the first time. Creme burlee was very good but served differently on two different visits. Service was slow. Music was good. Drinks a bit pricey and it gets warm outside dispite the portable coolers. Very convenient to the river walk but would not be on my list of places to eat, but would go back for dessert. read more

We had a large party and understood it would take longer than usual to get our food but when your appetizers, soups, and kids meals take TWO hours to come there is a serious management issue. Would never be my first choice but it was a friend's birthday and she picked the place. We ate outside and the restaurant was not crowed at all, in fact it was nearly empty. I had the Artichoke appetizer (good) and the Ravioli (just ok), my friend had a salad and the Norwegian Salmon. For as empty as they were service was spotty .. took forever to get a refill on our drinks. Went here for lunch on the 4th of July and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting much as it was mainly outside seating, which in July could be miserable. It was not- they kept it comfortable. Our waiter was very nice and funny. I like that they used paper straws and left extra cups of tea and water for our refills. The burger I had was so good as was the house salad that came with it. My husband had a really good crispy fish sandwich. We will definitely be back to try some other things on their menu. I think they had a limited menu due to the holiday. Four of us went for brunch. They insisted on taking our temperatures, while the bar tender didn't wear a mask. The waiter was unknowledgeable about what goes with your meal, although he did correct mistakes. He didn't offer or bring water or tea refills, salt and pepper, or butter or jelly. The breakfast dishes we ordered were the worst any of us ever had. Don't order the corned beef hash, because it is like nothing you have ever seen. Reheated slices of deli corned beef were laid on top of "hash browns," which are terrible -- tiny crispy cubes of heavily spiced and overly fried potatoes. The fried eggs were overcooked -- brown and crispy; the poached eggs were -- well, I can't even describe them; the "toast" was like stale bread; the bacon was flacid. The only good thing served was the Bloody Mary. Breakfast at Waffle House is a gormand's delight compared to this breakfast. Order the lunch instead, because the items going by looked pretty good. read more

Myself along with the staff of Ugly Grouper Bar and Grill had our Christmas party last night at Mattison's and were very impressed! As all service industry, we're not unfamiliar to a true dining experience and we all agreed that Danny was hands down one of the best servers we have all had in any restaurant experience. He was overly accommodating and kept us laughing like we had been family from the point we walked in. I truly hope he is compensated and congratulated. Went to Mattisons expecting the same results of other Mattisons in Sarasota. Was very disappointed. Waited over 2 hours for food which i will say wasn't that bad but not the greatest. Once food started coming out it was sporadic. Not everyone in the party was served at the same time. Never received soup until we asked for it. I can understand being busy or having issues but the manager never came to the table until i made contact. She never apologized or told us what was wrong in the kitchen. Reduced bill and said "maybe we will comeback and give them another chance." Not likely. For the price and the name so much more was expected. read more

Ruben was fantastic! The bread was not dried out, nor soggy. The right amount of kraut and dressing to the meat ratio.

The filet is excellent! Recently disappointed to discover that they changed the sauce it's served with- it used to come with a delicious creamy truffle style sauce on top it was omg amazing!! And the mashed potatoes were better before they changed them as well! They were creamier and truffle style now they're just regular old mashed potatoes! Really wish they would change it back or maybe we just have to drive to the Sarasota location instead as I've heard they didn't change theirs. The filet itself is still excellent though. read more

Stopped on the way out to the beach and so glad we did! We were greeted by the general manager and seated at a high top where we received very warm and attentive service from Renee. The seasonal strawberry martini was delicious! The Rueben was hearty and tasty. We also enjoyed the appetizers - especially the shrimp Rangoon.
