The manager/saleswoman is the owner and is very efficient and not pushy at all. We had a good idea what we wanted before we came because they put their selection online; all we had to do was test them out for a few seconds. No drama, no upselling - and the drop-off/driver was very quick and courteous. This store is family owned and operated, and they care about doing good business. Btw, we are a mixed family and there wasn't even the slightest hint of discrimination. I suspect the former complaints were from competitors trying to undermine their business. Do your research. Check here before you buy.

We were referred to Mattress World by the sales rep for Symbol Mattress. We visited the store on…read moreAugust 22, 2015. The mattress we chose was displayed on a platform bed in the sales floor. When asked if they had the matching foundation, Sean assured us they did. Mattress and foundation were delivered that same evening. Foundation was not made by Symbol. The warranty states the foundation must be one made for the mattress to avoid voiding the warranty. A call to Sean resulted in him saying the foundation delivered was better quality than one made by Symbol. He was abrupt acting insulted that we would question him. He said the warranty would not be voided. The following day the sales rep called saying the foundation delivered was better quality than the one made by Symbol. He also said the warranty would not be voided. A call to Symbol in Virginia verified that the foundation had to be a Symbol to keep the mattress warranty. Symbol made a foundation for us, delivered it and took away the foundation from Mattress World on September 23. The sales rep is no longer with Symbol. Sean Morrone never contacted us during this time. We finally got the mattress and foundation on our bed on September 27. We do like the mattress after 1 week. However, we have a high bed. It would have been nice if someone had asked about this and suggested a low profile foundation because the bed is now very high. As of this date, Sean now calls daily because he received notice that we had filed a complaint with our credit card company. We are in the process of resolving the complaint. In summary, we did get an excellent price on the mattress set. They did not deliver what we paid for. Sean did not do anything to help resolve the issue. He did not make an attempt to contact Symbol for the correct foundation. He did not contact us to follow-up on the delivery of the foundation from Symbol. Customer service, integrity and honesty are missing from Mattress World in Matthews. We would never recommend them or shop here again.

We bought two twin mattresses for a spare bedroom. They brought them in on a Sunday and said they…read moresaw bed bug carcasses and refused to do anything else, which is the company rules, which we completely agree with and understand. since it was a Sunday and we couldn't have anyone from a local extermination company come until Monday, we researched and dried the three bags of clothing the grandchildren who were visiting had brought, plus all their blankets. The house was in a turmoil with the thought of bed bugs being present. Terminix came the next day and said there were no bed bugs Present only a few carpet beetles. I called the Matthews store and talked to someone who said he was over two stores so I should complain to him. i told him my situation and suggested that if someone were going to turn a house upside down they should know how to identify a bed bug. He said he couldn't even identify one himself. He said he would refund the $50 that we paid Waste Pro to pick up the old twins and I said it's really not about the money and he said you've talked about it so it must be. I tried to file a review with the corporate office and all they did was dial the number to the Matthews store. I called the store on Providence and his attitude was the same. They sent me an email survey but all they wanted was your opinion of the mattress. it said if you had any complaints you should contact corporate customer service and it was to the same number that I called before where I was just sent back to the store. It's my opinion that they aren't interested in customer satisfaction. All I really wanted was an acknowledgement and an apology. Instead he defended the driver by not acknowledging their error. I'll never go to Mattress Firm again and have been spreading the word.

He spent a lot of time helping us select just the right bed for our needs. He arranged for delivery, setup, and removing the old mattress, understanding that it was a waterbed. Delivery did not go so well. They arrived early, which was great. However they refused to remove the old mattress and were going to leave the new mattress sitting in the middle of the room, until we had our son and neighbor come help. They got the (emptied) mattress outside, and the delivery men left. They didn't even take the plastic wrapping from the new mattress. We had to pay to have the old mattress picked up by Waste Pro. We notified John, have not heard anything back. It has been 5 weeks.
