"Yo Yo Yo...." welcome to the ghetto. Not professional at all. They play rap or rock or whatever the owner says at any given moment. They are so busy talking to each other that they don't listen to what you ask for, give you bad haircuts then get mad cuz you don't tip???? First trip was an ok experience but the last 4 cuts have been inconsistent as it gets. I asked for a low fade and got a high and tight, and an uneven top. Then they got mad I didn't tip... WTF? You don't get mad about not getting a tip without asking why... For the money they ask, and the lack of respect, there are sooo many better places to go. read more

I went to Matt's a couple times and Matt cut my hair. I noticed that while my sides were short , the hair on top of my head was not even and too long. I mentioned these to Matt at the next haircut. He was like YO YO YO. Then proceeded to use ten or so clipper heads to cut the back and sides of my head and took a bit of the top. Two weeks later I went Sport Clips and a random stylist cut and evened my top. She said she could not take any off the sides as they were too short. She did use a thinning shears on the top and removed a long patch on my right rear top. I would not recommend Matt's unless getting a burr cut. He loves his clipper heads. read more

I'm from out of town and have been looking for a barber who knows how to fade and taper. I was sat in a chair the moment I walked in. Matt is an excellent barber and gave me a damn good haircut. He was professional, meticulous, blended properly, cut with the grain, and gave me a razor sharp finish. I highly recommend this barber and plan to return. Great job Matt! I've been to many Barbor shops in my lifetime. Some have been great and others not so much. After my horrific experience with Matt's Barbor shop down in Greenwood next to rural king. My son and I signed in as instructed from the owner himself and sat down. 2 hours later, thinking we must be next, we see more people coming in and never waiting. I get that appointments take priority, but at least explain this to walk in customers instead of wasting their time and your potential future business. For every closed door another opens. This is a perfect example of that. We met Ed here at Southport barber shop a few years back and would never go anywhere else. Ed is phenomenal. He's great with kids, friendly, social and reliable. Matt's is the best barbershop in Indy and the south side. They take their time and don't rush the process. You feel like you're definitely getting your moneys worth and not a quick 10 minute cut. All the barbers do a great job, but if you find one you like best you can ask for them and no one minds. The conversation is always fun and catching up with everyone is also entertaining. Walked in on a Saturday and they was busy but he made sure I got in, it was about an hour wait but hey the place was packed-understandable. Took a lunch and came back with a chair all ready to go! All barbers were on deck and everybody got through in a timely manner. Matt is genuine and made sure I liked my cut every step he took. I look fresh as a daisy. Although they do a great job with the hair, the wait is absolutely insane. I would pay the same amount at another haircut place and not have to wait sometimes 2-3 hours. I think there needs to be a better procedure for setting up appointments. :) read more

I've been going to Matt's for five years now. Never a bad haircut. Always great service. This isn't great clips a good haircut takes longer than twenty minutes. I've been there when I've had to wat over an hour..I've been there when I walk right in...it's all the timing. I also drive from the north side of Indy. To get this haircut. Expect to wait an hour after your appointment. They're good at what they do, if time is not your concern.

Very clean, professional, fast, quality hair cuts. They do the straight razor on the back of the neck with the hot lather like you should. They also vacuum the hair from your head as they cut which is a nice touch that I haven't seen much throughout the country. Price is hard to beat, right around $12 I believe. read more

Traveling from out of town my husband went on a whim to get a haircut while we waited for our pizza to be cooked next door. We didn't have to wait. Chad sat him down and asked how he wanted his hair cut. I liked that a minute or two later Chad repeated back to my husband the specifics of the haircut he requested before he began to cut. Not only do they do a straight razor finish but they used the straight razor to clean up around the ears and sideburns! The care and attention to detail was obvious. The icing on the cake was when we arrived at a family members house later that day, who is a marine, he noticed my husbands haircut fade and wanted to know where he went because "it's hard to make it look that good." He plans on going now. They also offer a full straight razor shave. They don't accept cards so bring your cash, it's worth it. read more
