I've been going to Matt's for over 30 years. It was that "fish fry fish fry" like from the house. It's Friday fish so I got some Matt's. The best thing was the coke. It's not the same. I called and ask was it under new management and they said yes. The fish was like it was BARELY if any at all fried with a little flour no flavor. NO CRUNCH no cornmeal. Not that traditional fried fish. Definitely doesn't look like the photos. It's light in color like "Did you guys even fry the fish"? The fries are still fresh. The Macaroni salad taste sour. The shrimp were decent. I hate to give the OG a 1 rating however it's not the same. I'll be spending my money for some real fish fried fish. The new management changed the original reason why we would go there. THEY CHANGED THE HOT SAUCE to!!! They're messing up a neighborhood staple. Also no itemized receipt is sketchy. It's a great place to go when you're hungry and in the mood for some fried seafood. We went there yesterday and ordered one 3 fish, 10 shrimp combo and a 2 fish 6 shrimp combo. My dude ordered fries and the MAC salad as his sides. I just had the fries. His fish of choice was Whiting and mine was Red Snapper. Now the fish and shrimp were cooked immaculately. Nice texture and seasoning. Shrimp were a little on the salty side for my taste but still delicious. The fries were also decent. I liked the cut on them and they tasted fresh. Unfortunately, the Mac salad wasn't up to par. It tasted very tart, like too much vinegar. So that needs improvement. I called my order in and when I got there it was ready. I went with the 2 fish/6 shrimp lunch combo .. I picked the red snapper .. YUMMY . The seasoning & fry was on point ! Didn't care much for the slices of bread they provide but there for the fish at the end of the day. If you like lemons make sure to ask for extra extra they only game me a lil slice :( LOL . Ty to the gentleman who took my order through the back door on Tuesday 8/12/2025 right before closing ! I enjoyed my dinner very much much. Whoever is managing it now is slowly messing up the original essence of why people went there. First off the shrimp and fish doesn't have as much flavor any more. Secondly they changed the hot sauce . No more hot sauce packets. Matt's Fish Market is under new management, Mr. Lee, just to let you know. I was a regular customer and I would buy the whole wings and fries combo (8 wings w/fries), I go the other day to buy my same order, not knowing they are under new management. I get home, I have 8 party wings and fries and they charged me the regular price as the whole wings. I call them and that's when I find out they're under new management and don't sell the whole wings any more but still charge the same price due to "inflation". I told them, that they need to remove the sign that's states they have wings and replace it with party wings, that's false advertisement. This fish was hard and over cooked. I was not aware that the business had recently been sold. None on the cooks had their hair covered. I wasted 50.00 dollars. My fish taste fishy.
