I saw a menu posted from a year ago and it was 21.96 so when I saw the price was now 26.98 it was too late to go somewhere. Used to be one of my favorite fish markets but I've realized they have new employees and the quality has changed. I ordered grilled shrimp and salmon. I got home and discovered that there were long strands of hair with split ends cooked into the salmon. I called to let them know there was hair cooked into it. They did offer to replace it but driving all the way back there wasn't convenient during the peak of la traffic. I found Big Fish Market on a whim when searching for places nearby. This place apparently gets very crowded for people picking up takeout orders, which is understandable since it looks like it hasn't been renovated in a while and there is only enough space for some grocery items on shelves and the countertop windows to order food and then retrieve the ready meals. They also offer extra tartar sauce! We ended up ordering grilled tilapia, grilled shrimp, garlic butter rice, and hush puppies. The fish is PERFECTLY cooked and seasoned with enough char and heartiness; it was out first time trying hush puppies as well, but they were very herbal and well-fried, perfect with the tartar sauce. I purchased attempted to purchase 2 Prawns and was told I could get them fried or grilled. This was my first time there. Then the cashier says you have to get them fried or grilled on or the other. So I bought one fried and my fried bought one grilled. Then we were told we don't fry individual pieces and I need to know that in the future, screaming this to me from behind cooking station. They said you must by a half pound that was $29.00 a pound. The two cost approximately $12 which would be as close to a half a pound for the two. When I received the two the fried was a full prawn with the tale end and the grilled was half of the prawn with the lower end of the prawn gone. I called back to get an explanation and the manager begin to be rude, loud, aggressive, and condescending. He said we cut the lower end of the prawns off when we grill them and should already know, that makes sense to him. At $almost $6 a shrimp you should have told someone you cut the bottom half off. It truly looked as if it was torn or bitten on with straggle end, not like a knife cut. He begin to speak to me as if I was the one causing a problem, when in fact I was only trying to get an explanation as to why it looked that way. I will never go there again. read more

From the outside, Big Fish looks like it's in the process of being repaired -- particularly the window, which seems to be undergoing some work. Despite that, it gives off the vibe of a staple in the community. I called in my order ahead of time and was told it would be ready in about 45 minutes to an hour. When I arrived, the food was already prepared, which was great. However, there was a 15-minute wait just to pay for my order. That part of the experience could definitely be improved. On a positive note, once I reached the register, the staff was very friendly and helpful. As for the food, I ordered a 4-piece red snapper with a 15-piece medium shrimp and fries. The red snapper was seasoned well, and the fry had a nice crunch, but the inside of the fish was unfortunately dry. The medium shrimp were really good -- flavorful and cooked well. The fries were okay, though a change of oil and slightly less time in the fryer would likely make a big difference. All in all, this place was okay. I'd eat here again. If I return, I'll probably go for the medium or jumbo shrimp and definitely try the garlic rolls next time read more

I've been to this location several times. It's my go to fish place. I haven't been here in a little while, and I see that there's some new people that are working there. I simply asked the cashier if they had any more Louisiana hot sauce as they used to sell it, on the shelves in the waiting area of the restaurant. The Young Asian lady that works there. Heard me ask the cashier if they had hot sauce and she turned around and said what did you say and I repeated myself and with a smirk on her face, she said we have what's on display and pointed to the shelf behind her. First time her, recommend by my sister. Parking is not the greatest but I found a park. I can tell it was good because the line was out the door so that was a good sign. Last weekend, I took a trip to the ATL. My mom and I had some catfish tacos. She really enjoyed them. There was no second chance for her to taste these tacos again, at least not in our short three day trip. So I wanted to take some taste of ATL to her. Big FIsh Market was enlisted to help. I went to this place, and immediately was underwhelmed with its exterior. It was part of a strip mall or maybe shopping plaza. When you behold this place, you will not say wow. It is the proverbial hole in the wall. But, inside it does not promise culinary wonders. However, if you aim to assess this place for what it is, then you will be happy. And what it is, is a neighborhood joint, with no frills, with no bells and whistles, or lime lights. It just serves basic and good food, but measure your palette, it will not taste haute couture. Plus, it did have this Southern theme for its food, which was pleasant since I was looking for it. The menu was on the board. It was a lot to take in, but not so much where my eyes opened wide. I got my mom the fried fish plate. It came with a roll, and two sides. I got her hush puppies, red beans and rice. I later tried three of her hushpuppies. They were deeply fried balls, with pleasant seasoning. I did not try her catfish. She did call me after I delivered her the food, to tell me in a simple way that it was really good, she said thank you! She is basic in her taste yet still discriminates forcefully. So this place met her simple yet almost impossible qualifications to descibe something as good. I got the Salmon plate, it had 5 pieces. That is the large portion. Then I got a green salad with a side of ranch dress. And I also got the red bean rice plate. I devour it, not with joy, but with hunger. I was not full after. It was light fare. Which I had in mind cause I am trying to lose weight. I ate some cereal, and two pizza slice laters, but this place had healthy options. I just not follow the them for my other meals. Grrrr me. But grace, I will show myself, because I am on my health journey for the long run. Now I know that this place can help. The plate with lemon. And sauces. A lot of sauces. I cant remember all of them. My salmon, my rice and beans, my salad was all just basically good. The place was small, you cannot eat there. But go here and this place will serve a purpose. Fried red snapper lunch combo hit the spot! Everything is cooked to order. The fish was really good but the plain roll needs to go. Swap that out with hush puppies instead. Also nixx the tarter sauce packets. Mayo and relish is pretty cheap so have some fun and make a few different tarter sauces. An easy twist like flaming hot tarter, lemon lime, or a garlicy version would really elevate them to the best fish joint in Inglewood. I will definitely hit them up again. read more

My go-to fish market closed, so I've been on the hunt for a new one. I saw someone on Tik Tok review Big Fish and decided to try it. The fish market itself is your typical hole in the wall neighborhood fish market located in a small strip mall. Parking was pretty easy, and you order at the counter, pay at the register, and pick up your order at the window when your number is called. Prices are pretty reasonable, and the menu pretty standard. I ask for my fish to be fried crispy, and it wasn't crispy at all. also the seasoning was different than what I'm used to. Overall, I would give this place another try, but maybe ask for my fish extra crispy. Big Fish is also a little out of the way, as I live 20-25 minutes away.
