I was quite thoroughly impressed with Matt's imports. I found this shop by doing a search on Yelp and was amazed by not just the high rating, but also the amount of reviews they had. I decided to give them a call and explain what I needed done on my car. When I called Matt himself answered the phone and he offered to do a test on my car to make sure that the problem was what I thought it was, and he would do the test for no cost- no strings attached. I took him up on that offer and drove over. To my surprise when I entered Matt's shop I saw my and my car's name written on his whiteboard welcoming us. It was indeed welcoming! The waiting room is beyond adorable. It's not what you expect when walking into an auto shop. For one, it's CLEAN. The couch was clean, the floors were spotless, they had crayons and books to keep kids occupied, they had doggie treats if you brought your pet, and a keurig to please everyone's coffee taste buds! Matt's wife was in the back doing some paperwork and kept me company while my car was getting tested. He confirmed the issue with my car, and was honest enough to tell me that catalytic converters are not his specialty, but referred me a couple doors down to Cypress Mufflers (who also has excellent reviews), to Steve, who gave me an excellent quote. Matt went above and beyond when referring me to Steve. He served as the spokesman for me and told Steve my troubles and brought him over to meet me and allowed us to take care of business. I'm so glad I found Matt's Imports on Yelp. I've never come across a more friendlier and honest mechanic in my life. Matt is so amiable, he's the type of guy you'd want to just hang out with and share a beer. Last month, my rear brakes were on it's last legs, and I needed to get some new ones quick. I called Matt and he set up an appointment for late Friday afternoon. From the start, he informed me that he would not be able to work on my car that day, but that he'd order the necessary parts for me for the following Monday. It worked out since I had the day off for President's Day. When it comes to their craft, Matt and his crew exude punctuality. I had a 12:00 pm appointment and I was out by 12:30 pm. Plenty of time for me to come home for lunch. I also appreciated the fact that Matt ordered a higher end set of brakes because he felt that the stock models were not as reliable. In addition, he did not try to pull the old mechanic's ploy of trying to worry you into buying unnecessary work. He was forthright, confident, and dignified. The shop itself is small as it's adjacent to many other mechanic shops and body shops in the plaza. There is free wifi for those waiting. This place is amazing. The only bad thing about Matt's Imports is the fact that it is closed on the weekend. However, that should tell you the top quality work that they do here to have enough business to not be opened on the weekends. Matt is super nice and so is his wife. It is adorable how much they care for each other. My husband and I both bring our cars here to get serviced, his is European and mine is Japanese. First off, I have a Volvo XC90 (to give a picture of what car they worked on) My initial reason for coming in about a week ago was to fix my sunroof. Matt was on top of it and worked on it within 4 hours. He even charged me less than the initial numbers because it wasn't as hard to fix as expected. On top of that, the initial assessment of the car was completely free and they did a regular check up for my vehical, too, which I didn't even ask for, but definitely appreciated. So my sunroof actually leaked later when I went to the carwash, but he fixed the problem for free when I told him (which involved clearing the drains of the car). I was going to give a 4 star rating, but then again I shouldn't expect him to know that I don't know anything about Volvos. (Supposedly this i a regular problem for volvos with sunroofs) He apologized once I told him because he didn't tell me. He was so genuine in it I had to give him a 5. I didn't know this since I've never had a Volvo, but now I do so that's good! The hospitality and service here is amazing! Paula, at the front desk, is super sweet and will tell you like it is, but in such a loving manner. It is pretty obvious customers are first priority to this company because they are very attentive to your needs, not only for your car, but for you as an individual. For example: I talked about my battery possibly needing a change and Paula was very honest in her opinion about what actions I should take and how it affects my car (since I've never had a Volvo before this one). She factored in my financial concerns and the new updates I just had installed. There is no "bs" involved. They really care about their customers. They continue to share with me more detail about my car which I love because I don't know much at all. There is evidence of such care towards their customers and being that is a family business, you see this unity in their work with one another. I highly recommend coming here for your car. Had my 2009 Scion xB serviced for the 60,000 maintenance today...Matt checked everything out and called me with what needed to be done and a recommendation as well. I'm writing a review and it's not about food........SHOCKER! With the economy the way it is these days, you want to get the most for your dollar. We have a 2010 Prius that needed service. What to do, and where to go. I found Matt's through and old friend, his wife Tracy. I remember a picture I saw with his logo on it. I sent her a message and made an appointment. The last recommendation a friend gave me cost $1300 and didn't fix the problem. I went to Matt's and he made it a painless experience. He looked the car over and pointed out some issues. For instance, the tires will need to changed in a few thousand miles(I'm not even sure he does tires). No hard sell, just suggestions on things that will need to be done in the future. You might think I'm bias, but while I was there all the other customers who came by were greeted with a warm smile and a friendly hello. For me cost is in the top 2 things I look for in a business. The other is customer service. At times I will pay more for good customer service over price. I feel I didn't have to give up one over the other at Matt's. Overall with my experience, I will bring my other cars, and recommend Matt's to my friends and anyone who reads this. There's my 2 cents..... read more

An enthusiastic 5-star, big thumb's up for Matt's Imports. In all my years of having cars serviced, Matt is the most honest and trustworthy mechanic I've met. I was simply calling around to see where I can get an inexpensive transmission flush as another mechanic, who I went to for an oil change, told me my transmission fluid was "messed-up" and that I had replace it if I didn't want my car to die. He gave me a very expensive quote so I decided to comparison shop. Give or take $20, two other mechanics gave me a similar quote; however, when I called Matt, he said that Toyota made their transmission fluid to last the life of the vehicle, and unless there was something obviously and seriously wrong, it wouldn't need to be replaced. But he said he'd take a look at it to be sure. And sure enough, there was no need. He explained thoroughly the different kinds of transmission fluids, what happens to it in terms of color and texture(the fluid in my car was perfectly normal), and the difference in foreign and domestic engines. He also clearly understood what car owners go through in terms of getting bad advice and having to spend precious money on unnecessary repairs. He spoke to me as one smart person to another; he was professional, but also very, very friendly(he asked me if I was Filipino and proceeded to show me pictures on his office wall of his Filipino grandfather. I never would have guessed that any part of him was Asian!) In the past, I would go to mechanics with a very guarded attitude because many have taken advantage of my lack of automotive saavy. I don't ever want to experience that feeling again, which is why I'll always go to Matt's Imports from now on for service. My old Toyota Corolla has found the perfect car doctor! read more

I had a family mechanic for years but he retired. Since then I have neglected various fixes my Toyota Prius needed.....until I met Matt. The service is excellent, the work was very high quality, and Matt is overall a very good & honest person. While I waited I was able to use their free wifi and make myself a cup of Keurig Coffee. Car Problem: - My prius didn't start fully every time. I had to press the button multiple times. - Oil Maintenance - Slight popping in suspension Matt's Solution: - Fixed the faulty starter battery that had a bad cell - Performed Oil Maintenance - Told me to not worry about slight popping (it's normal and not very noticeable) and that it will likely need to be fixed in the future but currently it's not a problem Everything was fixed the same day, I didn't even leave the shop. Changed the oil on two of my cars. One was a 2007 IS250, changed with Mobil 1. The other (2009 WRX Impreza) I brought in with my own oil and filter. He just did the work. Reasonable prices for both cars, and the work was done promptly. He also filled the air in my tires without me asking, and checked the battery for me as well. He let me know I might need a new battery, as well as new tires (which I knew about already). He really goes the extra mile. read more

My cousin had nothing but praise for Matt, so I decided to make the switch from my mechanic. It's been about 4 years now, and I have never looked back. I come to him for the usual oil change but also for my frantic "OMG something is seriously wrong with my car" type repair. He is professional, good-natured and honest about everything he does. Last year my car would randomly turn off whenever I was idled at a stoplight. I brought it to Matt, but of course I could never replicate the issue when there. I felt frustrated and he asked if I could leave my car at the shop for a week so he could drive it until it happened. Sure enough, he was able to identify a mass airflow sensor issue with my car and quickly repaired it. He prioritizes your car's needs and details the type of service, the price and WHEN it is needed. He makes sure to explain the service so you are on the same page before he starts any work. Prices are reasonable and fair and I've never felt cheated unlike other import mechanics and service centers. It is a family run business and you can feel how close knit and respectful everyone is that works there. The shop is clean and the office is cozy. They have free Wi-Fi (yay) and coffee/bottled water (double yay). You can either sit on the couch while they repair your car or if you live/work locally, they will offer to drive you to your location. There is also a rental car place directly across the street if your repair is longer. The customer service is top-notch and I don't think I have ever been there when Matt is not smiling. It is closed during the weekends so I suggest making the appointment towards the beginning of the week when it is less busy. Plenty has transpired since my initial review from one year ago. All of it good. My mother's Civic had a problem and the garage she took it to was a nightmare so I suggested she go to Matt's Imports. The total cost was cheaper and she felt like she was treated right. My wife's car just stopped on the way to work and she called me. I gave her my car and got her Accord to limp to Matt's (it kept stalling). He called me in less than an hour to let me know it was the IAC valve (intake air control) and what it would cost for parts, labor and how long it would take. Price was fair and we had the car back that afternoon. I also have an Accord that had some intermittent starting/idle problems. After several brainstorming sessions with Matt, we concluded that the place to start was a valve adjustment, and now my car runs better than the day I drove it off the dealer's lot. My car is reliable and fun to drive once again. Now, Matt is a "Volvo Guy." I was looking through a book he had in his waiting area about Volvos. If only I can get my uncle overseas to sell me his 1960s vintage 1800 I'd have even more reasons to go to Matt's Imports! read more

He answered all my questions even though I don't really know "car talk", he knew right away what I was talking about. Really bummed I didn't go with him instead. I've been going to Matt's since I had my oil pan replaced a while ago. He gives great service and is always so polite and friendly. The rest of the staff are the same as well. Matt is honest and you won't get the feeling that you are being nickeled and dimed like it is in other places. Matt does not charge for assessing your car (yay!) and if there is nothing wrong with your car, he will tell you and will not do anything unnecessary to it. Found Matt thru Yelp, I was hestitant at first but after meeting Matt at his shop and talking over our Volvo XC90 issues I felt more at ease. He went thru the vehicle and proposed needs vs. wants repairs. Since money was tight, he also proposed several options to make it more bearable for us. There was never any pressure or scare tactics, this is what you need (which I already knew) and these you can wait. He kept the parts that needed to be replaced and gave us the option to keep it or look over it. He also made an effort to get us cheaper parts (non OEM vs. OEM), some parts you go without getting OEM parts. I waited almost 3 months before I wanted to leave a feedback because I feel that I wanted to make sure that weren't any issues with the work. Sometimes the initial experience is hightened because the repair was done, your happy now unitl a problem arises with the work. Well Matt did a tremendous job, he was fast, easy to communicate with (numerous phone calls and emails), prompt and timely responses, and like everyone says his shop is CLEAN. Forgot to mention he did work on 2 cars for me, the second was a 2001 Land Rover Discovery and yes he did a great job on that as well. After finding out Mini Cooper requires you to have a specific socket that nobody really has to change spark plugs. After we had purchased the spark plugs. We ended up having to find a mechanic that would be able to do it. This was the first place we called and they were super nice and got it in same day. Even used the plugs we purchased and only charged for labor. Super reasonable priced for this car that tends to be expensive. Will return to this mechanic if we need anything else done.
