We were staying in Grove for a few days. We ate breakfast at Matt's place every day we were in town. Great options wether you try the bacon breakfast, pancakes, breakfast burritos, or the eggs Benedict you won't go wrong. The staff is attentive and remembers what you eat and drink. Unassuming exterior, lots of parking, obviously a hit with the locals, and the bacon...oh my goodness, the bacon. I do not know what Matt does to his bacon but I would like to eat it until I die. Staff is friendly. Prices are great. I looooove local diners so this place made my heart and tummy and wallet happy. The bathrooms were a little meh; I could not tell if they were purposefully, accidentally, or unironically going for the unfinished look but it had all of the important parts. Go for the bacon! Wow. Those were my first words after biting into the Monte Cristo at Matt's Place. Hands down best sandwich I've ever had. I would seriously drive from Bentonville nightly to eat here. Love going here to eat. If you're looking for some good home comfort food, this is the place to go. Their pork chops are only second to my own and my moms. The catfish filet is breaded just right. I am not a vegetable person, but the green beans are awesome. It has little onion bits and good sized chunks of bacon cooked with them. I try to go here at least twice a month. read more

This place has local beef, the sirloin steaks are absolutely to die for, the catfish is perfect, we have eaten there probably 7or eight times now and really enjoy it. Matt, the owner is very personable always checks in with the guests to make sure everybody has what they need, they offer refills every five minutes. The deserts are great read more

Fantastic breakfast! Matt stopped by to say hello and introduced him to the Sanford girls and the Hardison family. Everything was hot and fresh! My buddy and I are living at the lake for the summer and decided we wanted to try out some local restaurants. Matt's place was very gassed up so it was one of our first spots. We got the totchos for an appetizer and they were amazing and very fairly priced. For my meal I got the chicken fried steak and it was very large but a little salty. However, still enjoyed it. My buddy got the bacon cheeseburger and subbed the pretzel bun onto it. He said it was excellent. We will definitely be back! read more

Service was good. Server very nice, friendly, and helpful. Food was extremely bland. Vegetables were flavorless. Chicken fried chicken was crispy but completely lacked any seasoning.... while this might be desirable for some it definitely was not for me. Steak was good - not great but good. I went to Matt's Place a few months ago for the eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce was broken (meaning old) and the egg whites were runny. The worst. I thought I'd give them another chance with an omelet. I ordered a 3 egg bacon and cheese omelet. When I make a 3 egg omelet at home, it fills my plate! This omelet was about 1/8" thick and was the size of a tiny burrito. They swore they used real eggs, but it isn't possible. Omelets are fluffy, this was hard and flat and flavorless with extremely tough bacon. My friend ordered the same thing and didn't eat hers either. We left hungry. I don't understand how they get their almost 5 star reviews. I truly don't. I will never eat at Matt's Place again. read more

I chose Matt's Place for my birthday dinner. I ordered dessert first (a must). It was a lemon blueberry cake and it sounded delicious. As they brought my brother his salad, the waitress let me know it was frozen and wouldn't be ready til the end of the mail. So I changed to the cheesecake, very good and rich. My brother wanted ribeye but they were out so he ordered a medium rare sirloin. It was medium well. My mom wanted okra but they were out. At the end of the meal, my brother ordered a whole lemon blueberry cake because we had several birthdays that week. The waitress brought out 1 piece and he said no. About 10 minutes later, she comes back out and states she called the owner and said they couldn't sell us a whole cake. She stated it would be very expensive. Now, my brother never asked the price. He didn't care. I said what is the difference if we buy 8 slices and eat 3 here and take the rest home. She just shrugged. Obviously, the owner wasn't concerned about running out or else we would have eaten ribeye and okra. Not sure why it made a difference who bought the slices. Although the food was good. Was looking for a local spot for breakfast while visiting Grove. I'm glad we stopped in and tried Matt's. The food was great. Perfect bacon and the pancakes were the best I've had in a while. I recommend you drop in and try it out. The wait staff was friendly too! read more

I had the chicken fried steak today and it was very good. The fries were tasty and green beans were good too. My wife noted that her chicken-fried chicken was great. The waitress was both friendly and attentive which was a big plus. The prices were reasonable. I wish they had an outdoor deck which would have enhanced the experience. Had never been to Grove before and were looking for somewhere to eat. Looked up the reviews for Matt's place and they were all good. Staff was very friendly, service was prompt and food was good. The only negative I could say is maybe just a tiny high on price. I had a salad and it was good just don't know that it was $10 good. But definitely recommend. Quality of the food was delicious, however there was a ridiculous complication. I'm not sure how often this happens or why they were so normal about it without an explanation but we placed a mobile to go order and had our account charged on a Sunday only to drive all the way out to the restaurant and find out they're closed during hours they should've been open. Its a huge inconvenience considering how far the restaurant was from where we were staying. Come Monday they are open and make us the food (since they had already charged us the day prior), the food was delicious but they forgot to include any of the side sauces we had ordered. Those 2 inconveniences aside the food was great and I hope they get a handle on situations like the one I experienced. read more
