I hired Matt's Plumbing to completely replumb my home. At first, I was happy with their work--very professional, showed up when they said they would, and things seemed to be going smoothly. Unfortunately, a few months later, a hose bibb they installed broke off overnight and caused a major flood under my modular home, washing out part of the foundation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They did come out the same day to fix the broken bibb, but the real issue became clear after the water receded: serious damage to the foundation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called to speak with the owner to explain what had happened, I was told I wouldn't be able to speak to anyone above a man named Jake.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He insisted the hose bibb that broke wasn't their responsibility--claiming it was pre-existing. It wasn't. Their plumber installed it during the replumb. They also told me beforehand that a shut-off valve would be added, but that never happened either. Jake went on to claim the foundation damage was due to 30 years of rain runoff, which simply isn't true. He never came out to inspect the damage himself. I had recently been under the house myself, running a coax cable, and there were no signs of damage at that time. I've since had two licensed foundation contractors assess the issue--both confirmed the damage was not from rain runoff and both are willing to testify to that in court. The repairs are estimated between $8,000 and $15,000, and Matt's Plumbing has refused to take any responsibility or even continue the conversation. I paid for a full replumb to avoid plumbing issues--and instead, I'm left with more problems and major expenses. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Matt's Plumbing. read more

Matt's plumbing is the worst rip off. I paid $7,500 to that company to do my bathroom. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Told them in detail where my shower, toilet and sink should go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was not there when work was being done because I was taking care of my husband who was dying of cancer. After, my husband passed and things settled down I got the shock of my life. They put the shower drains in the wrong place and put it in backwards, did not give me the size shower pan I asked for. Refused to pull a permit inside my home when one is needed. Argued with me he was not getting one. Then I had to go to court and the judge asked him if he was getting the permit and then he said yes. I was left in a hotel for 1 year because he did work without pulling a permit and I could not go to the next step till he finished the work, so he held up my framing inspection, insulation inspection, drywall inspection, electrical inspection. Also, I did say we could wait till I was able to get down there so I can get the toilet but he said it's OK, he can do the roughing then come back and install the toilet once I came here. We'll, they lied. Never installed my toilet. I relied on them explaining I need everything to pass inspection and trusted them. I have no studer vents having sewer gases into my home. Then they say oh it's not in the contract but I'm hiring a plumber knowing it's a new set up and what do I know about plumbing. The son lied said I was rude but it was him who lied, then found out he was the son so the apple does not fall far from the tree. Terrible, dishonest company.​ read more

I requested an appointment which I was granted and confirmed saying someone would be at my house between 1-5 pm but close to 1 pm. I waited until 4:20 when I hadn't heard from anyone. I messaged back and they told Me they didn't actually schedule Me because I had not given a valid Phone number when I made the appointment with my address. Nobody bothered to tell me that and I waited all day for Someone to show up for my confirmed appointment. When I told them of my disappointment and how I waited all afternoon, they cut off all response. Very rude and unprofessional. I would never call them for an appointment again. read more

The techs were respectful of the house and cleaned up after themselves. Bad: They either didn't know or intentionally left out critical steps for proper replacement of a shower pan and floor. We had to have someone undo what they did in order to properly set the slope of the shower floor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No one returned my voicemail request, email request or followed up after I spoke to whoever answers their phones.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Summary: I will not use them in the future and would not recommend them. Warning DO NOT HIRE!! This is the most unprofessional plumbing company. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This company completely stopped answering my phone calls with an horrible job they never finished.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The work they did on my house had to all be redone because no one would put their name on it, it was that bad. This has been an absolute nightmare. They put me out of a house for 2 weeks because they didn't put the permit in, tired to blame it on the city but the record shows they never put it in on time, putting me out of a house for weeks over the holidays. They stole over $2500 of copper that I had just installed in my attic and had asked them to leave it during the initial quote.( this. included 3 large pieces that were in my yard, not even in the attic..that they just took) When confronted, the general manager told me if I called the police he'd have all his workers say I said they could take it. Basically my word against 3 other people lying. They are scam artist. I have been trying to get a refund from them for over 8 months now and they claim they have "finished the job". Meanwhile there are open pipes that never got vents, drains with no p traps, washing machine hook ups that are connected to nothing, pipes through the attic that have no rhyme or reason, no 90's just flowing pipes all through the attic making it a huge mess. Everything looks horrible. the pipes go right over my attic stairs, it's a safety hazard. They put a big vent in the middle of my driveway. Nothing was thought out, nothing was fixed that was promised to be fixed. Idk how it's a "finished job" With an open permit And nothing completed.. The hot water didn't even run, when I was able to get it working (from paying someone else to come in) there were 6 leaks that I know of. Things that were not even clamped down, shower heads and connections that were just loose pipes not connected or clamped. I have videos of the workers stealing my copper and putting it in THeIR OWN CAR. I also have videos of one worker asking the other "why did you do that so sloppy" and he said back "every thing gets done sloppy when I want to go home". This is the worst experience I've ever had, they charged me $19000 I had to pay the same amount to get it fixed. take my advice and stay away at all costs. They will write you up a quote that has nothing on it, say it's all in their memory.. then claim that you didn't ask for those things down the line.and that will cost more when it was in the original quote of everything I asked but that's how they get you, they don't wrote it down then it's just your word against thiers. Matt was contracted through American Home Sheild to come fix a simple refill rate issue on a single toilet. After a miscommunication through the 3rd party on times, the plumber showed up, saw no one was home and left. It's been 6 weeks- I've called 3x/week from different numbers to reschedule and they've all been let to VM with no calls or emails back. Must be because they were already paid out. I could have gone to plumber school, figured out how to fix the issue, fixed the toilet, and moved on to another project in less time, with less stress, and spent less money than dealing with Matt's. I'd rather use a 5 gallon bucket than let Matt's come fix my toilet. read more

We had a total clogged sewer line a month after moving into our newly remodeled home. Called Matt's plumbing to correct, the guy who came did not try to clear the issue and told me stories of how plumbing from houses in my neighborhood was made of tar and cardboard. He suggested a new line be installed to the road at a very high price. I had no idea what the cost should be but have since learned that I paid about 3X too much. They installed about 40' of pvc pipe with 3 clean outs and charged me $6,500. Once the trench was dug (about 32ft) it was found that the pipe was actually cast iron and the clog was where it connected to the city sewer line. They also found there was concrete poured over the connection to the main pipe and said this was unusual, they had never seen anything like this before. I asked them if they would follow up with the city to determine what that was since this is where the clog was found and they agreed. After waiting a week I finally hear back from Matt's as they wanted payment, I asked what was found from the city and they said they did not speak with them, the inspector just went off of pictures. I explained what they informed me of and asked they follow up with the city and they kept saying that was not their responsibility. The office manager did contact some folks with the city to no avail. I was then contacted by Josh asking for payment, he is the supervisor I spoke with while the work was being done. This time, the story of what was wrong changed and he claims my issue was from roots in my cast iron line under my sidewalk. I have no idea why the story changed, it did not benefit anyone, just very odd and while I liked Josh, it made me immediately distrust him after giving him opportunities to correct what he was saying. The issues were described to me by him and his guys when doing the work and did not involve any roots... the issue was at the connection to the city main. I still can not imagine what his point was to change what they told me already, seems like they just wanted their money and did not care to ensure things were right so their first story was not working for them. I basically paid way too much and am waiting for more issues as the original problem was never addressed. I would not recommend Matt's plumbing and will never use them again. read more

They came and charged $300 to unclog a sewer pipe by pushing their camera thru the clog, no snake needed is what the guy told me hmm, then I was told they couldn't guarantee it unless I paid an additional $600 to have my pipes pressure washed and also that my 2 year old toilet was no good and needed to be replaced as well I declined and 2 days later it was clogged again and they had the nerve to tell me it was because I did not do what they recommended. I called another Plumber that did the job right with a snake. Have not had any more problems and was cheaper too. I tried to contact the manager at Matts and he would not call me back read more

Great local family owned plumbing business in Tampa. I'm overdue in reviewing as we had our service call October 3rd but better late than never I suppose. Sunday night we opened our bathroom sink cabinet to find standing water. Eek! There was a slow drip so were able to turn of the valves but it had to be fixed! First thing Monday morning I was calling for help to Matt's Plumbing. Within a couple hours, Jake came to the rescue. I had a repair that was completed by Matt's Plumbing. Their plumber was excellent and went well above and beyond to make sure that this was an excellent experience. Unfortunately it was marred by the fact that American Home Shield was also involved in the repair. Despite AHS doing everything in their power to make this as unpleasant as possible, the people at Matt's left me feeling very positive about the whole experience. I would recommend Matt's to anyone. Needed a garbage disposal replaced. The disposal itself cost abt $100- they charged me $285 to install! They are WAY overpriced:(. The main drain In my home became clogged which caused the toilets, bathtubs and sinks to backup into my home. My home warranty company assigned my case to Matt's. Monica in the office called me very quickly and moved heaven and Earth to get a technician out to my home right away because our water was shut off to avoid further flooding. Within a few hours, technician/ plumbing wizard, Daniel arrived and he quickly set about assessing my issues in formulating a plan of action. He was polite and informative. He was not condescending (even though i followed him around asked him a million questions). He was very kind and careful to explain to me exactly what was covered under my home warranty and what was not. For the uncovered items, they gave me a very reasonable estimate and he was able to repair everything today. Even though my issues were complicated and frustrating, he never lost his cool. He was very calm and methodical. His grasp of plumbing and the way it works and his expert knowledge of his craft made me feel so at ease. Knowing that I had someone not who just knows how to fix things, but who likes to understand how they work and why something is happening. He was sweet to my dogs and respectful of my home and belongings. He didn't judge me because my kitchen was dirty and my house needed to be cleaned. It never fails that these inconvenient things never happen when your house is ready for company. Plumbing problems, backed up toilets, and sink stoppages are always inconvenient and they're always annoying.... and you never are prepared to spend money on them unexpectedly. But my experience with Monica & Daniel at Matt's Plumbing made the whole experience far less stressful then it would have been. And I'm very grateful for that. Purchased my home 3 months ago and have American Home Shield Warranty. My Water Heater died while we had guests staying with us. AHS Warranty put me in contact with Matt's Plumbing. They came out right away even though they were busy because I told them we had guests from out of town. Jake showed up within an hour of my call. He explained that my heater needed replacing and that some of the pipes were not compliant and some other issues. He also prepared me that he had to get approval from AHS and they may not cover everything depending on my contract. He was very thorough with everything. We left him alone while we went on our boat excursion and Jake texted us the finished product showing it was completed. Our toilet was leaking around the base. Matt's pluming came out and picked up the toilet and dropped it on a cloth on the floor. Dropping it caused a permanent mark/indentation on our tile. They denied that they had made the mark despite the fact that the house had been cleaned by a professional that morning and had no marks until after Matt's came. Also the mark is in the shape of a toilet base. Also the caulking around the base is already cracking! They returned our first call, but ignored other calls. read more

We had an annoying drip from the bathtub faucet. Jake with Max plumbing came out twice he was able to help stop the drip and then fixed a under sink shut off valve that was stripped. He had to change it to a quarter lock valve and did some welding and shouldering. He initially charged $200 for the job but after seeing I was not happy with the price. Called his supervisor and gave a fair price.He was clean and courteous with his service, he did have several phone calls coming in during his service related to a scheduling emergency. Matt was dispatched by our warranty company, American Home Shield, to fix a failed tank-less hot water heater. AHS's contractors are generally pretty awful but Matt was definitely the exception to that rule. Our repair was a bit complicated and a bit of a pain in his arse, but Matt did an awesome job of coordinating the parts and service and making multiple runs to my home to deal with the issue. In the end, Matt returned our tank-less hot water heating system to full working capacity and we were very happy with his service. We'll gladly call upon Matt directly for any issues outside of our home warranty service. Thanks again Matt and team! read more

Will never use this company again. Yes, the toilet was reseated but he left the edge half caulked, and the caulk he did apply was just smeared on unevenly with little effort to smooth it. I suddenly was out of water at my prep kitchen so I called this company, a technician came out the same day, within a few minutes of him being there my employee followed the water line to the outside of the building and noticed that the valve was turned off so my employee told the plumber and he turned it on. The chain on my toilet was broken so they replaced the handle and flapped, also he replaced a vacuum breaker on the water heater line. My total bill was $450. After asking for an itemized invoice I find out they charged me $275 for a handle and flapper for my toilet and called it a rebuild. They tried to make their money($450) on the fact that I was out of water but once I called them out on it they want to make it look time most of the cost was for a toilet handle, chain & flapper ($275) Totally dishonest so I gave management the opportunity to make it right before I wrote this review. I would never trust this company and I will make sure other people know about my experience. read more
