We paid and drove in and parked. There was no problem finding a spot. There wasn't a whole lot to see as far as the lavender growing or blooming, but we enjoyed what was available. We stopped in the market store and bought some organic lavender tea, brownies, and candy. I bought a sticker and my DIL also bought a couple of things to bring home for friends. There is seating with umbrellas which we enjoyed. It was another beautiful day in Maui. After the grandkids were finished, we went out to the large field. The adults enjoyed sitting in the grass and kiddos enjoyed rolling around in the soft grass.

Road to Hana is a unique experience that involves driving down a long road (most likely from the…read morenorth side of Maui) down to the town of Hana. Along the way there are a variety of attractions like lush rainforests, waterfalls, hiking areas, and beaches. There are many so you'll have to do your research to find the ones you want to stop at. You will usually drive down the road, stop briefly for the attractions, then get back on the road to the next one. There were many windy and narrow roads and the driving isn't for the faint of heart. Some of the bridges are one lane so you'll have to constantly keep an eye out for cars around corners. I personally wouldn't drive at night and you really have to ensure you don't veer onto the other lane. Driving at slow speeds is a must and requires a lot of concentration. One of the other notable attractions that the road has to offer are the plentiful banana bread shops. We went to Aunty Sandy's Banana Bread which was delicious. It was pretty cool and I'm glad I got to check it out but I wouldn't do it again.

We had visited once before back in 2012 and remembered it being a great experience, and it's nice to see how much the farm has upgraded since then. They offer goat and cheese tours that you can sign up for online. This time, we just wandered around the grounds and relaxed while watching the goats and baby kids play in their pen. We also bought a $10 bucket of hay to feed the goats off to the side. We were told they were under a year old, though they were already pretty much adult-sized! They were extremely enthusiastic about the hay, and the bucket was gone in no time. It was such a fun and wholesome experience, for both me and the goats. Definitely a cute stop, and I hope to come back next time and sign up for one of the tours next time in Maui.

They did give a variety of different crackers my feedback would be to do a better job of giving whole or partially whole crackers. Another hit were the truffles. You can mix and match or get all one kind. They have a lot of variations. The service was friendly and the views were beautiful. It was neat to see some of the younger and older goats. They have a lot of space to be themselves. Those goats look as healthy as can be. I would come back.

We have taken three of their "Morning Walks" with our grandkids and it's a perfect introduction to hiking. Honestly we've had three different ...wonderful.. experiences. It's not strenuous and you're taken back to some private land that you'd not have access to if you just drove up and parked (if you found a parking spot) and hiked back in. We were lucky to have the lovely, fun, and knowledgeable guide named Randolyn ..aka Ran. She was the perfect blend of kind, patient and engaging with the grandkids, and very helpful with us old folks! She has a big heart and a crazy love for this island. We've lived on Maui for a couple years and she taught us some cool stuff that we didn't know. We hopped in her big van and had a fun tour to: -Ocean Vodka -Surfing Goat Dairy -Ali'i Lavander Farm -Ulupalaku Ranch + Maui wine And along the way she handed out fresh banana bread (that SHE baked!) and cold bottles of water (say what? So thoughtful!) As we drove, she would point out things like: the kinds of trees we were seeing, the history of this or that, how things had changed over the years... Interesting things that kept the conversation flowing. Her van has a microphone for her to use so it's great for people who sit in the back. We could hear everything she was saying. She made sure to open doors for guests and make sure the temperature inside the van was okay for everyone. There are different tours to choose from to hone in on where you want to go and what you want to see. She really knows her stuff and made us smile and laugh with her bubbly personality and energy. Prior to the pick up, Marilyn was always available via phone if I had questions about planning the logisitics and I found her to be very sweet and kind over the phone. As soon as Marilyn greeted me at the pick up, I knew I was in for a real treat. She has this magnetic energy and passion. She knows how to connect with people and make them feel comfortable. I was traveling alone and joined a group of others wonderful tourists that were part of the tour. Marilyn and Robbie were well versed in their knowledge of the history of the culture, agriculture and plants. The tour included stops at the lovely Lavender garden, Maui winery, and the Surfing Goat Dairy. Their timing was spot. One of the highlights of the tour was the lunch. It was in a lovely park, tucked away in a hillside, overlooking Maui, It was a perfect day. The real treat was when Marilyn pulled out her Ukulele and started singing lovely songs - one of which was "Somewhere over the rainbow". It was delightful. The tour ended with the other tourists departing at the airport. This was not just an ordinary curbside drop-off. Marilyn actually accompanied them to the check in counter and helped them get their bags through. This is not something that an ordinary tour company would do. I remained in the van and chatted with the delightful Robbie. I cannot thank Maui Country Farm Tours for such a memorable experience. It was truly one of the highlights of my trip, and I could not have done the trip alone. Marilyn has contacts and knows the inside scoop on how these various businesses operate. Please consider her tour as an option for you to see the back country of beautiful Maui. You will thank yourself and you will make a friend or two.
