I found Coconut Information and thought it was a great fit because our group loves coconuts! Ryan was so passionate and knowledgeable not only about coconuts but also conservation and sustainability - we were all amazed at the work he put in for his farm. It was so lush with all types of fruit trees and produce - we even saw baby ducks that had hatched just the day before. The experience was a farm tour, educational workshop, coconut tasting, and cooking class all rolled into one. We really enjoyed learning about the multi-faceted coconut and about Ryan's journey with the farm. The coconut noodles he made us were SO GOOD. Seriously blew our minds and can't wait to make it at home and share with others. Truly a fun, inspiring, and educational experience. We couldn't stop raving about it after we left. Ryan even sent us home with a "4-pack" of coconuts so we could have some fresh coconut water for the rest of our trip. Highly recommend - please go check it out!

Tip, do not eat a big breakfast prior to going on this tour and make sure to use the restroom stops which there were only 2; at Tante's and Maui Brewing Company. Food is shared and samples, so make sure you alert the tour guide of any food allergies. Quinn provided hand sanitizer, cold water bottles, utensils, and napkins as well as our shuttle van was a Mercedes Benz. He was very knowledgeable of the island of Maui, even telling us stories of volcanoes and the origin of the Shaka. He was also very accommodating to my father who requires assistance with his walker. The tour was from 9am-2pm; had a local flair and my favorites were the poke and the shave ice. So enjoy the sights, sounds, and flavors of this Maui food tour and ask for Quinn!

Prior to booking, I specifically asked if the tour was fully operational and was assured that it was, with only one stop being eliminated. This turned out to be inaccurate. We were not informed ahead of time that multiple key parts of the tour would be canceled. Instead, we only found out after we were already on the bus, and at that point, we were not given the option to cancel or make an informed decision. Several advertised stops were not included, and no proper substitutions were provided. Despite this, when we followed up with the company, they claimed we were taken to a red sand beach -- which is simply not true. This kind of inaccurate response only added to the frustration. We politely requested a partial refund due to the changes and lack of transparency, but this was denied. Customer service was poor and not understanding, especially considering the $250 per person spent on this tour. Overall, the issue is not the tour guide, but the company's lack of honesty, communication, and accountability. I would strongly advise others to reconsider before booking.

The event was held on the Ritz Carlton Kapalua's Beach House Lawn, an intimate and gorgeous oceanfront parcel with a grass lawn, bar & restrooms. The food booths surround the main tent which houses the wine vendors. There are a few high-tops to rest your drinks & plates on, and a few tables with chairs. This is a very "mingle-y" event, so you're not prone to plopping down and claiming stake at a table. The entertainment stage is near the entrance with a small area for standing & dancing. There are tons of wines to sample, as well as Absolut & Bombay Sapphire mixed drink stations, and Maui Brewing Company beer for people like me who just go for the beer & the food. Not a fan of wine. The 2012 event featured 14 different restaurants mainly from the west side of Maui. There were shrimp-a-plentiful, as well as fish prepared in a variety of ways, eel, clams & lobster dishes. There's also a dessert booth & coffee station. Overall: A great way to taste different wines, sample foods from a few of Maui's restaurants, and enjoy good entertainment, but leave the kids at home (even though they are welcome.)

We attended the Seafood Festival, held on the oceanfront Beach House Lawn at the Ritz Carlton. The grand finale features Maui's top chefs. There were winemakers showcasing their wines, as well as beer and spirits. Fourteen of Maui's top restaurants were there and I tried everything (some twice!): Capische? Fleetwood's On Front Street Gannon's Honu/Mala Hula Grill I'o & Pacific'o Japengo Kahana Grill Kai Sushi Bar Makena Resort Restaurants Maui Culinary Academy Roy's Restaurant Star Noodle The Terrace Chef-Crafted Especially loved Kahana Grill and Fleetwood's On Front Street dishes. Star Noodle was a huge hit, there was a super long line for just noodles, but they were awesome! Come prepared to be on your feet. There are a few standing tables sprinkled about the place, and a handful of sit down tables. While you are not really supposed to camp out, and should be walking around drinking, eating and mingling, all the tables were snapped up and occupied for the entire evening. I was fine with that, I had wines and food to try and didn't want to miss anything! Another thing to be aware of is that they will shuttle you from the lobby of the hotel down to "near" the Beach House Lawn. From that point on, its a walk down the golf cart path. They did have a couple of golf carts that carted people to the line that was formed at the entrance of the tents. Afterwards, same thing . . its quite a hike (and challenge, especially after a few bottles of wine) to get to the shuttle point, so be sure to wear proper footwear! I was a little nervous because it seemed to be a newer company and I couldn't find reviews, but leading up to the day the tour operator (Steven) was super responsive and proactive via text and email, asking and confirming that we were aware of the high altitude of the hike and could do that. The hike itself was amazing - easily my favorite thing I did on my Maui trip. We hit three hikes throughout the day and I can't say enough about Steven's guidance. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so so much about the landscape, nature, history, cultural tidbits, and other stories of the area/what we were seeing. I was super grateful for that because it felt like a thoughtful experience, rather than a generic overdone tour. He was also very good about managing everyone's different hiking skill levels/paces so that folks were comfortable and could go at whatever pace they wanted. It wasn't strict or boring at all. Oh also Steven was so kind in taking pics for people/stopping when there was a good shot. If you're wondering about whether to do this one, definitely go for it! Would recommend the tour for tea and plant lovers. It's very kid friendly. If you don't want to do the tour, there is a shop where you can just buy the tea or try the tea tasting flight. If you just want to check out the shop, I recommend calling ahead or go after the tour times. When we went, there was only one staff and she closed the shop for the tour.

A delightful "up country" experience! Highly recommended - even if you aren't a tea aficionado!…read more This was a fantastic experience! My wife loves tea, but I'm not a big tea drinker. Therefore, I figured this would be mostly of interest to her and I was kind of "along for the ride". However, I found the entire experience, absolutely fascinating and I am so glad that I didn't miss it. The grounds are stunningly beautiful. The land used to belong to a lavender farm and now has been converted to growing primarily tea. However, they have preserved myriad plantings from the lavender farm days, and there are beautiful specimens of all kinds of different plants scattered throughout the grounds. In addition to the beauty of the tea farm itself, it is situated high up on the slopes of Haleakala and has gorgeous views. Our guide, Mason, was fantastic. He is very friendly and amazingly knowledgeable about the various plants, the grounds, and tea. He related all kinds of interesting facts about growing and preparing tea, as well as about all of the plants and the horticulture. He's one of the best tour guides that we have had in our various explorations and excursions throughout the world. They include a tea tasting in which we got to sample a number of really interesting and different teas. As I mentioned, I'm not a big tea drinker, but it was interesting to sample them with a knowledgeable guide (Mason) guiding us through the tasting process. I would highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for a delightful "up country" excursion while staying on Maui.

LOCATION: Located at the MACC. We wanted to get there super early on Saturday to park there but we didn't so we parked at War Memorial Stadium and caught one of the free shuttles. We were prepared to buy tickets at the box office but we didn't have to because a nice lady on the shuttle gave us a bunch of free tickets. That was so nice of her. After shopping we were going to eat food from the Food Trucks there but because it was super hot that day, we decided to go somewhere else for lunch. Maybe next year. HIGHLIGHTS: Maui Mules with Pau Vodka, sampling various local treats, Na Koa Brand/Ho'omana Poly Apparel, Moloka'i Bread, Rosebuds , HI Spice Hot Sauce, Maui Olive Company, Bella Vita Apothecary, Maui Lavender & Tea, Upcountry Maui Favorites and Skelefin Studios (Amanda Joy Bowers). There were so many great vendors TIPS: Bring a fan and a big bag/bags for your purchases. Wear a hat too and bring a beverage like we did. OVERALL: So much fun. We had to reschedule our hike day..due to the Kona low and the office staff were more than helpful…read more This is not our first hike with Hike Maui... we've come to Maui for the past 50 years..37 times to be exact... and Hike Maui is our go to during the past 20 years when we want to get out into the rainforest. We have taken three of their "Morning Walks" with our grandkids and it's a perfect introduction to hiking. Honestly we've had three different ...wonderful.. experiences. It's not strenuous and you're taken back to some private land that you'd not have access to if you just drove up and parked (if you found a parking spot) and hiked back in. We were lucky to have the lovely, fun, and knowledgeable guide named Randolyn ..aka Ran. She was the perfect blend of kind, patient and engaging with the grandkids, and very helpful with us old folks! On the drive on the way home she advised a few newbies to the island where some great places to eat were... they greatly appreciated her ideas! She had the most pleasant demeanor.... :) If you want a fun morning walk, call Hike Maui
