Thank you Yelp for helping me locate a sushi restaurant that stays open between lunch and dinner with good rating and good reviews. I'm in town for work and was craving some sushi and glad that I took a chance on this place even though it seemed out of my way. The staff greeted me as soon as I walked through the door and I was seated quickly. It just so happened that they were having happy hour specials (it was around 2:00 or so on a Thurs). I got the crispy rice spicy tuna, sunomono and the house special roll all at a discount due to the happy hour and everything tasted great! The restaurant is clean the bathrooms are clean parking is easy. I would recommend this place!

Yelp SPAM scale Service - 3 / 10 Price - 2 / 10 Ambiance - 4 / 10 Meal - 3 / 10 Arrived and was immediately sat at our table. Great decorations and spacious for dining with options for indoor/outdoor as well at the sushi bar. 1st time trying this local eatery and not sure we'll be back. Appetizers -Squid salad was nice, but overpriced -Edamame was over cooked / steamed and the chili was seasoning tasted off -cucumber salad had hardly any seasoning Dinner (2) different sushi rolls (can't say we liked the sushi rolls). No offense but we've had better sushi from Sprouts and AJ's. 2 drinks (beer and wine) - beer was nice and cold. In this economy you want value for your money and for what we ordered I can't say we got that. 80$ plus tip

    CHICKEN KATSU

Got both the chicken and pork katsu from here. The atmosphere and service was amazing. Would definitely go back.

Tried Kay Sushi today, super convenient to where I live. It has a lovely outdoor patio with water fountain and bamboo, so pretty. Inside the decor is nice, different shades of green walls and one unobtrusive Tv, which is nice . Some places have so many tvs and the sound is so loud, but at Kay Sushi only my and the sound is muted.. They have a nice variety of rolls and a pretty extensive menu. A nice touch, they serve water with a side of lemons in a small wooden box, little details like this are so nice. I ordered the cucumbers and they weee deckuckus, cold and crunchy. My lunch date ordered got miso soup with his order and it was served which kept the soup piping hot, it also had sliced mushrooms along with the seaweed. We ordered a variety's of rolls and they were quite good. The staff is really nice and attentive. The dress I wore was a slippery materiel and my napkin on my lap slipped onto the floor, the server noticed this and quickly brought me a new napkins. So thoughtful and I didn't even ask for one. I will definitely be back and it's literally less than a mile from home!!

Kay sushi has beautify dining room with separate drink bar and sushi bar. Hubby was in the mood for noodles so we ordered Nabeyaki udon. The picture doesn't show all the seafood included in this dish. It had large prawn, large scallop, lots of shrimps and squid. The broth was good but tad bit bland. The lunch combo unagi bowl and tempra was really good. Nice crispy veggies and prawns were tasty. The unagi bowl only had 3 pieces of unagi; wish it had more. Overall fun place to eat even though it was little out of the way for us. Enjoy. Would Recommend.

    SUSHI MIX

Excellent food, made fresh and from the heart! I love the amount of care and love they put into every dish. The sushi is amazingly fresh, flavorful and the presentation is the cherry on top! They serve sushi, Thai, Chinese and several other dishes. The service is always kind, professional and attentive. This is definitely one of the cleanest restaurants in north Scottsdale. I highly recommend Kay Sushi to anyone!

Victory Sushi My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate a promotion I received and sushi is always my favorite way to party! We started off with the pork gyoza which were fresh from the pan and they came with a unique sweet and sour sauce. It was joy like the traditional sweet and sour but it had more of a tangy flavor then sour. Next I got my absolute favorite dish which is yellowtail jalapeño in yuzu sauce. The fish was fresh and the sauce was light and citrusy. For the main courses I got the ahi tuna takai roll and my boyfriend got teriyaki chicken and Philadelphia rolls ( he is still learning to get use to sushi!) My roll had seared tuna on top and spicy tuna in the middle, so delicious! For dessert our waiter Brooke, recommend their crispy green tea waffle. THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST WAFFLES OF MY LIFE! It literally was right out of the waffle iron and on to the plate. They put Carmel sauce on top of it and served it with vanilla ice cream. The matcha was not overpowering but the flavor was strong. If you took a bit of the waffle with the ice cream was pure bliss. Can't wait to go back and try other rolls and of course get another waffle!

Parking is a cinch in the complimentary lot they share with several other businesses. Ambiance (3/5): Hint hint. The Goose is located inside Crust Simply Italian. You can get in one of two ways. Either through the restaurant or from the outside. I went through the inside. Look at the pic I shared to help you find the right door. Once you get inside, it's a pretty small speakeasy. It's nice, but also doesn't stand out in any way. We sat at the bar. There are also some comfortable chairs and tables if that's more your vibe. Service (4/5): Friendly, attentive service throughout. They did upsell us on the food, but overall, solid. A customer got kicked out while we were there. We didn't quite hear what happened to lead to the situation, but either way, a bit of a weird situation. I imagine it's a rare occurrence. Food (4/5): The food comes from the Italian restaurant and they have a nice menu of appetizers, pizzas (or pizettes), and dessert. I wasn't terribly hungry so we split a fig and ricotta pizette. We added crispy prosciutto. And we had the gluten-free version. Normally, I wouldn't order gluten-free but I was with someone who's diet required it. While it obviously wasn't as good as regular dough, it exceeded my expectations. The prosciutto gave a nice crunch to the dish. Drinks (4/5): At a speakeasy, I'm expecting a creative cocktail list with an interesting blend of spirits and flavors. While The Goose has some standard cocktails, like a Oaxaca old fashioned, they also have a section of their menu that focuses on their creations (many of which have bird-themed names). I tried three of the menu and they were all quality, sophisticated cocktails. Exactly what I was hoping for! The Goose is owned by the same people as Ostrich Bar and Alchemy 48. While I haven't been to Alchemy, Ostrich is one of my favorite speakeasies in town. I like it better than Ostrich, partially because their menu is more extensive and it's a larger establishment, but nevertheless, The Goose is a quality speakeasy.

Honestly, I have no idea how it got those reviews. Maybe they're paid, I'm not sure, but based on my experience I would not go back. The biggest issue was the service. We arrived and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. After sitting down, we waited about 20 minutes and no one ever came to our table. No greeting, no water, nothing. Eventually I had to walk up to the bar and ask what the procedure was. Do we order at the bar? Do you have table service? No one could give a clear answer. They just kept saying, "If you want, you can order here." That's not the point. If I sit down at a restaurant, I expect someone to come to the table and explain how things work or take our order. If the system is that you order at the bar, just say that clearly so people know what to do. The drinks were also very mediocre. Nothing special at all. Honestly, they tasted like something you could throw together at home with soda, alcohol, and ice. The surprising part is that the food was actually phenomenal. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. The dishes were delicious and probably the best part of the entire experience. But great food alone isn't enough to make me return somewhere with poor service and forgettable drinks. My recommendation is don't waste your time on a Sunday brunch. There are plenty of other brunch spots with good food and good service.

Located inside the Canopy Hotel in Scottsdale, I didn't have trouble finding free parking right outside of the hotel (I wonder if the same holds true on a Friday or Saturday night). After parking, take the elevator all the way up to get to the rooftop. Ambiance (4/5): Pretty awesome. I love a good rooftop. Outrider has a good deal of comfortable seating which is always a plus in my book. It's an open air bar, so there's also some seating by the bar which is semi-covered. There's even a firepit of sorts, but only one. Would be cool if they had more. The best part though? The view from the rooftop. You can see the mountains in the background and old town Scottsdale. I imagine that the absolute best time to stop by is during a sunset. Service (4/5): Our waitress was friendly and pretty attentive throughout. She did a great job making us feel like we were right at home. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so I can't comment on their food. Drinks (4/5): Outrider has a nice selection of craft cocktails. While I was intrigued, I stuck to beer. Not a huge selection by any means, but there are a decent number of craft brews, including a handful I had never tried. The beers are fairly priced. If you're looking for a nice rooftop, Outrider is a great choice.
