    Crispy pork belly
    Joy T.

Handmade dumplings, bao & bowls tucked in a small strip mall. Casual spot in Scottsdale. It is obviously made to order as it took some time. Order at the counter, pick your table & your food is brought to you. I enjoyed the sui mai dumplings, pork and shrimp mixed with finely diced carrots and shiitake served with a miso butter sauce. I loved the sauce! Nicely steamed so it was soft and the right seasonings. Crispy pork belly, crunchy on the outside, oh so tender on the inside, laced with hoison sauce , served with white rice & edamame on the side. Cashier and servers were very friendly. It got very busy really quick. I will definitely come back to try their other dumplings.

I walked in 5 mins before 5 pm without knowing that they are opened at 5. They are nice and let me wait inside. I was able to have time to decide what to order. This is the hardest decision of the day. The steamed sui mai dumplings are delicious. They are on the dry side if you are used to the juicy ones like me, but I don't mind. The steamed shrimp toast dumplings are very tasty. The miso butter sauce is not my thing so I dipped them in my ponzu sauce. Pork wonton soup has a very salty broth. I could not taste shiitake mushroom, napa cabbage, and the wontons at all. Bulgogi steak on the steam buns are juicy delicious.

Love the concept of Ni Hao Bao, haven't been anywhere else like it in Scottsdale. My daughter who is very picky loved the chicken bao buns and dumplings. I saw a some reviews saying the wait was long to get their food, it was under 10 minutes for us at dinner time. We will be back for sure.

"Mongolian" Beef -nothing Mongolian about it

We came early on a Friday as we had heard there could be big crowds and long waits. There were neither so we ordered and sat outside with the big fireball setting behind the hospital burning our eyes! If they could put up some type of light screen it would really help. We shared some spicy pork dumplings and chicken xiao long bao. For both they were undercooked with chewy dough and not hot enough. The spicy ones had more flavor due to the spicy sauce btu the xiao long bao were way too dry, not as flavorful and the top pleated section was very doughy and undercooked. For a place with dumpling in their name you would think they would get that right. The bowls were better. The Korean Fried Chicken was crispy, moist and flavorful. A bit too much rice for the amount of chicken and sauce but all in all a pleasant dish. The Mongolian Beef was nothing like it should have been, First of all the meat was weird slices of beef - nothing thin, not stir fried, almost dry and then to insult to that injury the sauce on top was the exact same sweet Korean sauce that was on the Korean Fried Chicken. Totally wrong and I would never order that again. Get your culinary act together on that! One of us ordered the Mongolian Beef with crispy bao buns. They are basically fried and ok but the idea of a nice bao is that it is light, fluffy and a contrast to the flavorful filling. By frying them you get too much going on in my opinion. They need to work on the authenticity of their dishes and execution on the dumplings given their name! We will give them one more chance and we will ask for the dumplings to be served hot and steamed longer.

This is not a full service restaurant so you have to wait in line to get your order in and wait for the food to be delivered to your table. We ordered the following: 1. Chicken Soup Dumplings: rather sweet and the skin is rather thick. 2. Spicy Dumplings: thinner skin for the dumplings and the sauce is pretty much the same for all the other dumplings 3. Pan Fried Pork Dumplings: our fave out of the bunch. 4. Fire Cracker Shrimp Bao: the shrimp was fried well - crispy and not too oily. Not too crazy for the aoli sauce. Bao is good.

We came in on a weekday during lunch time, and it was super busy. This is more of a casual place, you place your order at the counter, and they give you a number plaque, you go find a table to sit at and they deliver your food to your table once its ready. After looking over the menu, we ordered the chicken soup dumplings, pork dumplings, and the shrimp toast dumplings. The chicken soup dumplings and the pork dumplings were a bit salty. Unfortunately, both of these dumplings were inconsistent. One piece would be warm and then the next piece would be cold. The shrimp toast dumpling was the best item we had during our meal, but it wasn't anything special. Overall, service was aloof and disorganized. Each entrée took a while to come out, and they were out of a few items we were interested in trying. Lots of kinks they need to work out.

Ni Hao Bao Dumpling House Granted we did take out so not expected to have same freshness straight from the kitchen Mongolian Steak with white rice and edamame was the most fresh entree coming from take out, good flavor with beef piled over a good quantity of rice Hong Kong Spicy Wontons looked angry hot and spicy, had a little kick, but not the heat that they looked like Shanghai Chicken Soup Dumplings were very dry and hard, I have to say these were a take out dish. Maybe if we ate at the restaurant, hopefully they would be better Asian BBQ Pork Belly Steamed Bao Bun with mixed fruit was our favorite entree, steamed bao bun was cooked well, the asian bbq pork belly was very tasty along with the cucumbers and magic sauce. Highly recommend Pork Dumplings Pan Fried were okay, probably a little better of the dishes we ordeed Hong Kong Wonton Soup had wontons/Potstickers in a soup base sprinkled with some mushrooms and another. To call this Hong Kong Style is no where near what my expectations were, very disappointing. I understand we did take out, so not kitchen fresh, but this Chinese style food is definitely not traditional Cantonese or Mandarin Style prepared, but American Chinese Style Would I come back, maybe to try some other entrées

I've already been to Ni Hao Bao FIVE times and it's technically not even open yet. I'm en route for sixth visit, which should tell you everything you need to know. I've only ordered dumplings because there is no reason to branch out when they are that good. They're all handmade! The shu mai and pork dumplings are my favorites, packed with flavor and paired with a complimentary sauce that I usually like to add extra chili oil to. I have also tried the Thai tea with boba and it hits the spot. Parking is easy, prices and portions are fair, service is great, and the interior is welcoming - I love the little booths and love that they have a dog-friendly patio. This has very quickly become a regular stop for me. The staff is excellent. I spoke with Darrell, the chef and co-owner, and his excitement and pride in the food and the neighborhood are obvious and contagious. Every other staff member we have interacted with has been friendly, welcoming, and on point. Great food backed by great people. Definitely check this place out! Their grand opening is this Friday 1/16 and you can guarantee I'll be there ordering another serving of dumplings :)

Cute rickshaw outside the restaurant. The place is dog friendly.

This place was amazing! Loved the whole experience from the food to the ambience. You order at the counter and they give you a number and bring the food to you. Highly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) with steamed buns, and the Sui Mai Dumplings. The buns come in 3 and it's a lot of food for a reasonable price. The Sui Mai Dumplings are sooo good especially with the miso butter sauce. The dumplings skin have just the right amount of al dente and chewiness. The wait was not long, no line to order for dinner and we got our food pretty quick. The whole decor and look of the restaurant was unique. Will definitely be back!

Food wasn't very good. Tough meat that was unevenly cut Some pieces were tough and dry, others were tender and ok. We had several different dumplings with mixed success. On was undercooked with a doughy top. I don't think we will be returning anytime soon. Music was erratic at times.

It's a walk up order and sit . They bring the food to you . We ordered the steam bao with Korean chicken , crispy pork and steam dumpling . Total $49. It's more finger food style . Steam dumpling meh like trader joe stuffs . The Korean chicken friend well but again nothing special . It's like chicken tender with buns and sweet spicy sauce . Crispy pork decent . Overall fun to snack not like restaurant food .

I wasn't sure what to expect going to Ni Hao Bao but I'm 100% coming back when I'm in the area. It's an order-at-the-counter type place and it feels very open with lots of windows and plenty of seating mostly outside. When you order you get a number and they bring the food to your table, it was so busy we jumped in line right away. We had the Hong Kong spicy wontons, Shu Mai dumplings, and shrimp toast dumplings. My friend's favorite was the shrimp toast and mine was the spicy wontons. We also ordered Thai iced tea with boba, it was so tasty my friend finished hers before we even got our food! Loved the convenience of this place and employees were constantly walking around cleaning and bringing out orders - they did an excellent job and I can't wait to come back and try some baos!

I think an issue besides not having enough help whether it's in the kitchen or a servers is they're doing a very brisk takeout business along with trying to serve dine in guests. I was observing people that were lined up to take out their food and many of them were waiting 30 minutes or more. . also, there are two areas where they are serving, which is bizarre. We studied the menu wanting wide noodles with a gravy but didn't see anything appropriate . They did have a crispy noodles with a protein of your choice in brown gravy. That sounded good so we ordered that to go with chicken as the protein, It was ready in about 10 minutes. The meal was still hot when we got home. I plated the food and we enjoyed our meal. If it weren't for the gravy the noodles would have been very crispy. The noodles do soak up the gravy and softened a lot of them. I thought the meal was good but not outstanding. It was rather bland and some Sriracha helped. A little more gravy would have helped. I'd say stick to their rice dishes as they seem to excel in this department. Shared parking lot.

I'm going to start with why only 4 stars instead of 5. For Arizona this is a 5 star restaurant. In…read moreNew York or Chicago this would be your average Chinese restaurant. That said if I lived closer and they had a lunch special I'd be eating here at least once a week. The food is some of the best Chinese food I've had in AZ and sadly it took me over 30 years here to find it. When you walked in the restaurant you are greeted by a very friendly hostess and seated at a table with real tablecloths and napkins. This is not a hole in the wall restaurant. Some of my favorite restaurants are holes in the wall. I digress. They have a nice bar area and the obligatory fish tank. Once seated we were greeted by a man who brought us crispy won ton strips and sauces as well as water. Shortly afterwards we we greeted by our server Maya. She was friendly and very helpful. We ordered soup, egg rolls, Mongolian beef and pork fried rice. Maya said she would bring out the soup first followed by the egg rolls and then the entrees if that was acceptable to us. First the soup. We tried the hot and sour as well as the won ton. Bothe very good. The hot and sour as well as the wonton had chicken. The won ton had shrimp and vegetables as well. Before the egg rolls came out they cleared the soup bowls. The egg rolls. I've been looking for real egg rolls in az for 30 years. Crisp wrappers. Stuffed with fresh and crispy veggies, shrimp and BBQ pork pieces. Not soggy veggies and ground meat. The only thing missing is that hint of peanut butter that you get in a real Chicago egg roll. But I guess that's why they call it a NY egg roll. If you've ever been to Wo Hop in NYC you will feel right at home with these egg rolls. I almost forgot. They bring you a knife. Without having to ask. They do ask if you want chopsticks. The Mongolian beef. Very tender and slightly sweet sauce with a bit too many onions. Could it be better. Yes. But for AZ it's a 4. What would make it better if it were slightly crispy and spicy. And fewer onions and more beef. But we were pleasantly surprised. Finally the pork fried rice. Probably some of the best fried rice I've had in AZ. I didn't have to ask for no carrots or peas. There weren't any. There was a bit too much egg but that's a personal thing. The rice was the right texture and the pork was very good as well. Get the fried rice. We weren't rushed. The staff was very friendly and the food was about as good as it gets in AZ. The cons are it's not inexpensive. But it is worth it as long as you can part with the cash. I don't know why it only averages 3 1/2 stars based on my experience. I will be back. At least once a month.

The food was consistently delicious and service good. Since Covid, we have done more takeout than dine in. The food had been very good, packaged beautifully to go I might add. The last few takeout orders have been disappointing. The changes were subtle at first. Everyone is trying to stay afloat in these tumultuous times. Raising prices is a given- accepted! Cutting back on portions and quality does not make good bedfellows! Last night our order consisted of wor wonton soup and a beef and scallop entree. The broth was tasty, the snow pea pods looked and tasted like they were at least A week old. The dumpling noodles were so overcooked, they fell apart. Now onto the entree- The beef was coated in some gelatinous coating that was unpleasant to look at -better left unsaid, what it tasted like.. The accompanying fried chips for the soup were sparse and mostly crumbs. We fully understand what it takes to keep the lights on in today's toxic and frightening environment. But to raise prices AND REDUCE the quality of your badge of honor - your reputation, is foolish and a poor business model. I sincerely hope management reads their reviews. This is not a random gripe. It's meant to be informative and hopefully continue to create the great dining experiences we've had for so many years.

Every dish was prepared beautifully and packed with flavor, but the lobster was truly divine. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and infused with the aromatic flavors of fresh ginger and green onions, it was one of those dishes that leaves a lasting impression long after the meal is over. The beef and shrimp lo mein were equally delicious, with rich savory flavors and generous portions, while the walnut shrimp was perfectly crisp with a delicate sweetness that balanced the dish beautifully. The fried rice was the perfect complement to everything on the table. We also enjoyed a few sake bombers, which are hands down the best we've had anywhere. What truly sets China Chili apart is its consistency. Whether it's your first visit or your hundredth, you can always count on exceptional food, attentive service, and genuine hospitality. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and always makes us feel like valued guests.

This review is for two take out orders. The first time I…read moreordered by calling the restaurant, the second time I used Door Dash. Both experiences worked very. I ordered dinner the first time and picked it up and had it delivered the second time. I have now eaten the duck, three chow meins, rice, green beans, a vegetable dish, egg rolls and crab puffs. Every dish has felt clean and tasted clean. No chemical after taste, no excessive saltiness. I have been impressed with the food here.
