I really love this local poke joint in Irving! The staff is always kind and willing to make recommendations when creating your meal. They are also the only place serving spam musubi in the area that I know of! You have the choice of creating a poke bowl, ordering a pre-selected bowl, or trying some plates like katsu or tacos. I always make my own bowl because they have tons of yummy toppings like fruit, vegetables, and a variety of yummy sauces you can mix in. My favorites are the citrus ponzu and Korean gochu grill! As a huge poke critic and lover, this is our go to poke spot. We've come here 5 times and it's always huge portions and flavorful in every bite. I come here because I love Hawaiian Poke but the cool thing is that they have Asian toppings too like Kimchi so you can get a good mixture of both. It's a guilty pleasure, and I've looked at them longingly many a grocery store visit without picking up a can, simply forcing myself to abstain. But when it's included as a regional snack/side from Hawaii, partaking would be just experiencing a bit of the culture, no? It's an excuse, and I don't regret playing the card. So I got myself the Spam Musubi, which is 2 slices of pink delight wrapped with nori to sticky rice. Dip in soy sauce and enjoy, brilliant! I also tried the Tuna-cado Poké. The fish was good and I love the nice knife cuts and sesame over the top. It came with avocado, crunchy carrots and purple cabbage over a bed of greens, jalapenos and I got it with coconut jasmine rice. The coconut jasmine rice was a good choice, the sweetness of the coconut played a perfect contrast with the heat from the jalapenos, and the soft, creamy avocado give a textural break from the veggies. Different sensations everywhere. Sauce was wasabi aioli - perfectly creamy and the wasabi was not overwhelming, both spicy and sweet. Miso soup was quite tasty as well. Service was friendly and personable. I think the owner took our order and he made sure we were happy with our customized order. I like the freshness of the food and it was a nice clean and quiet restaurant. The restaurant was at the end of a large restaurant strip. Dining area was moderately sized with 12 tables and long table along the window. It was a quiet weekday night with light crowds inside. We like that and allowed us to have a nice quiet dinner. I stopped in recently while I was in Coppell for work. I wanted something yummy and fresh and that wasn't BBQ (sorry Texans). This place popped up on the app and wasn't far from my hotel so I have it a try. It's a fast casual dining spot so you order and pay at the counter and take your food to a seat or take it home. The menu is displayed on monitors which could be heard to read. The restaurant was well lit and clean. They prep most of the food in front of you so the ingredients were visible. It all looked nice and fresh. I got the combo-cado poke (with additional fixings), fried spam musubi and matcha boba. Everything was quite good. The bowl was packed with quality ingredients and was filling. The fried spam musubi had nice texture and flavor. The matcha boba wasn't very sweet (which I like) but didn't have enough boba for me. Finally a place that understands poke! While the marinade contains too much sesame oil, it's definitely on the right track. Might I recommend using Aloha Shoyu for your marinade? Regardless, finding out that marinaded poke was an option was wonderful to hear since most to all poke in Hawaii is marinaded. Service is friendly and upbeat. Lunch time can get busy so plan accordingly. Also, I have never seen spam musubi stacked with two pieces of spam but hey, I'll take it! Not only were the owners super friendly, you can also see the food that you pick instead of blindly checking boxes on a paper (which also causes unnecessary waste imo).
