    BBQ Chicken Plate
    Dee D.

I chose this Hawaiian BBQ restaurant based on the great reviews. But I was disappointed after having the BBQ Chicken plate. The chicken was not cooked like the photo on the wall menu. I prefer when the meat is charred and it wasn't. The flavor was just ok. The macaroni salad was bland. The plate includes 2 small scoops of steamed rice and finely chopped raw cabbage under the chicken. The chicken was freshly made. I was the only patron at the time and I waited for 15 minutes to receive my order. Look for suite 112 because there is no sign on the building. Sadly, I will not be returning.

Stopped in for lunch for the first time the other day, since I was craving L&L's but was in this area instead. The 2 female employees were standing around chit chatting for some time and hadn't even acknowledged me after 3 mins of me just standing there. It was pretty ridiculous haha. I eventually interrupted their convo and said "hello? Can I order?" I ordered the #1 Combo: Hawaiian BBQ Mix- BBQ beef, BBQ ribs and BBQ chicken. The gentleman who brought out my order seemed nice though. Food was good but I was starving to say the least.

    Beef and chicken bbq mean

The beef was dry the chicken had a huge gross skin on it very disappointing they didnt have a self serve to get sauces and the person said they put it in the bag my fault for not checking cause I got home and there was no sauces

    Close up of number one.

Small hole in the wall. But very busy. Standard Hawaiian bbq menu. No chicken teriyaki. Hawaiian chicken grilled is closed.

Food (5/5 stars): I love Ohana Hawaiian BBQ's huge portions! Their Chicken Katsu was great and I'm looking forward to trying their Hawaiian BBQ Mix plate Experience (5/5 stars): * Price: it's a tad pricey but worth * Wait Time: minimal on a Saturday for lunch * Service: very good and friendly * Parking: there's a parking lot * Ambiance: it's a casual, quick service restaurant

#1 Combo - bbq chicken, bbq beef and short ribs

This is our go-to Hawaiian BBQ place. There is seating inside, but we most often get our food to go here. I love the #1 combo with short ribs, bbq beef and bbq chicken, 2 scoops of rice and mac salad. It's really straight forward food. You get exactly what you expect, but all too often you don't, so I appreciate that! Locally owned place - the guy running the cashier and the grill (and probably the owner!) remembers my husband and his order after not seeing him for a couple years. Pretty amazing! There's another Ohana location in Oceanside at 76 and College. That one's pretty good too but I prefer this location. From all the other reviews, looks like I should give the chicken katsu a try next time we're stopping in!

We were starving. We were in the area. Looked up Hawaiian food on yelp since we weren't from Vista. Easy parking, convenient location off the 78 highway. Atmosphere was very Hawaiian local style, and kinda felt like home.. or a restaurant in Kauai. Anyways, spam masubi's were great! Their rice reminded me of my childhood somehow. Gonna dig into the curry and gravy chicken plates now. Toodle-loo lol. Also, here are their more updated menu pictures :) your welcome

    Where is the new location?

If you are going South on Melrose go under the 78 freeway past Hacienda, past the courthouse it is on the right side in the same lot as El Pollo Loco and Ogies next to a nail salon. Hope this helps.

This was my first dine-in experience at this location. Had the beef ribs tickler with sausage, coleslaw, and fries. The ribs were straight-up bomb! they were super meaty, tender, flavorful, and nicely charred. The sauce has a nice sweet, tangy, and spicy balance. The link was a good portion with a good smoky flavor, and the coleslaw and fries rounded out the meal nicely. Service was efficient despite a busy lunch rush and the staff were really nice and welcoming. The catering trays we've ordered have always been solid, and that same consistency carries over to the dine-in experience. It's a little pricier than your average lunch spot, but the food actually tastes good and consistent every time, which is why Phil's gets 5 stars.

Service is efficient and it's a lively busy atmosphere inside. We needed food to last us a few days and I was very pleased at the catering take out from Phil's. We got beefy ribs, baby back ribs, chicken, sausages and an assorted box of sides which included macaroni salad, coleslaw, cookies, cornbread, and salad. It was an absolute feast. Typically when I go to Phil's I get a baby back rib tickler, down it and call it a day. I think my new strategy moving forward might honestly be more catering orders like this because boy was it fun to try such a variety of meats. There's something about a bite of beefy ribs then moving on to some bbq chicken and sausages then finishing with some baby back ribs all slathered in that wonderful BBQ sauce. Is this real authentic BBQ? Definitely not. I've been to Texas- specifically Austin and Houston. But it's really good value and in my humble opinion tastes really solid and the variety which is the spice of life really has given new life to my Phils BBQ experience. I'll be getting a catering box again very soon I hope!

You snooze, you lose. (Funny note: I was told, in no uncertain terms, that they were out of chicken and that I would get extra pulled pork. When I got home, I found a large piece of chicken.) The best option is the Sampler plate. You get six different proteins, three sides, and three Hawaiian rolls. The proteins are chicken, hot link, tri-tip, brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. I thought all of the proteins were very good but I especially loved the hot link. I could have eaten three of these alone. The sides are also very good. The mac and cheese and potato salad--both clearly house made--were excellent. The house made beans were ok but a little hard. I didn't love them. They have three BBQ sauces to choose from (spicy--marked with a giant "X" on the little cup, sweet, and regular. They are all delicious but you really don't need any of them. That is a sign of good BBQ. The sampler plate gives you a ton of food. At $56, it seems expensive but it is not. This plate easily feeds three people and you will probably have some leftovers. I drove 30 minutes one way for this, waited about 15 minutes, and drove another 30 minutes home. It was very much well worth it. Good BBQ is hard to find in SoCal but it exists, if you make the effort. And this is very good BBQ at reasonable prices.
