It was a late lunch time, so there was no one in line, but a bunch of people eating in their outdoor patio area. The location is in a shared strip mall and parking was easy, tight, but easy. The staff was friendly, answering all of our questions about the menu and giving me the bathroom key so I could use it in the shared complex. I did a take out order from here for lunch that we ate at the beach. We ordered the fish tacos, which were mahi mahi, the chicken teriyaki, and the mochiko. It was still hot about 15 minutes later when we arrived at the beach and the food was good, not mind blowing, but good. We placed our order and snagged a table outside to enjoy our lunch. I ordered the Cod & Jus Fries, my wife had the Calamari and Garlic Fries, our oldest son had the Seared Ahi and our youngest son ordered the Cod with Volcano Fries. Portion size is plentiful and they brought the food to us outside. All the dishes were cooked just right and delicious. The staff were friendly and honest. I don't know how this place has such good reviews. I got the chicken teriyaki and it is maybe a thigh's worth of meat on rice with no salad in a tiny dish and very little sauce and very unflavorful. I ordered it to go and tipped very well but wasn't offered a fork or napkins so I ended up in my hotel with neither. Napkins aren't really required since there's so little sauce. read more

Maui Teriyaki and Maui Fish N Chips are out of the same location/restaurant. I usually get the fish n' chips & my other half usually goes with the teriyaki. You can find this little restaurant at the Dolphin Plaza food court area right across of Koiso. It's hard to miss really. It's a small place, but they have picnic tables set-up outside for outdoor seating and more tables and chairs inside as well. You walk in and will find their menu posted on a mounted surf board right above their order counter which goes with the semi-beachy theme. We normally get the teriyaki chicken (thigh) plate and the chicken has always been moist, tender, and very flavorful, but not overpowering. Kind of hard to dry out chicken thighs, right? & let's be real, it's one of the best parts. Haha. Their fries are also a welcomed addition to the meal and would highly recommend the furikake fries. Probably some of the best fries on the island in my opinion & we've even done a whole flight of fries when going to small get togethers. The teriyaki menu itself is pretty small; chicken thigh, chicken breast, & mochiko chicken. It's a little pricey considering the servings are also on the smaller end, but it always hits the spot when we've needed something quick and delicious. Check them out! read more

Came here after searching around yelp for something to eat tonight. From the reviews this place seemed great. Took me a minute to find the spot, it's on the backside part of the dolphin shopping center...all the way in the back. Once I found it I looked over the menu and decided to order the chicken breast teriyaki. I took a seat outside (have to enjoy outdoors seating as much as possible!) and my food came in about 5 minutes. The presentation of the food looks great, the chicken stacked up on the rice with a beautiful glaze on it. Once I dug in I was pretty happy with the flavor of it as well. Honestly it's pretty much the same as any teriyaki you'd get anywhere else. Maybe I was expecting some kind of island flavor to it, but I wasn't blown away....not saying it wasn't good, it was. I went with the grilled ono tacos, a side of half volcano half garlic fries and my boyfriend got the teriyaki chicken. Boy oh boy was everything great. Teriyaki Chicken- teriyaki sauce is awesome, the serving size of the chicken was more than generous and the rice was perfectly sticky Ono fish tacos- I got the sauce on the side because I don't do spicy, but the tacos came double shelled on corn tortillas with a scoop of coleslaw (which by itself was yum) Half and Half fries- my boyfriend loved the Volcano half, I really enjoyed the garlic sauce on my half. I found this place on Yelp and found out for myself just how yummy their offerings were. Still a great value although all the reviews seem to mention much lower prices from as close as 2 years back... They have 2 names, Maui teriyaki and Maui fish and chips, they answered the phone with the latter. My wife was wanting teriyaki and I was feeling fish so they had a great combination of both! We started with the fried mushrooms, they were a hit! Although the breading was a touch greasy (what do you expect from deep fried) the mushrooms inside retained their moisture so each bite was juicy and crunchy, yum! They had a few choices for fish and chips and I went with the Ono (workers suggestion) and volcano fries. The Ono was breaded and cooked perfectly. The volcano fries were dusted with chipotle Cajun seasoning and drizzled with a Sriracha aioli, yes! There were also other styles of fries to choose from. My wife had the teriyaki chicken thighs with slaw and her dad had the mochico chicken with rice. The teriyaki was solid but I never got to try the mochico chicken. That looked really good, breaded and fried chicken with what looked like an orange(?) sauce, I would try that next time. There is a huge price swing in Maui and this place was pretty affordable. The family meal comes with chicken and choice of side / either fries or rice. Also added a family order of macaroni salad. So glad we chose to try this place out! Their quality of taste is 10/10. Upon looking at the "surfboard" menu, I decided on the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken Breast ($9.99), and with my Teri Chicken Breast, I had a choice of white rice, brown rice, or fries. For some odd reason, I ended up picking the fries (I'll explain later) with my meal. As for my coworker, he got the Grill Ahi ($10.99) with brown rice. And we both got the "all you can drink", fountain drinks ($2.49). What can I say about the Grub? I really loved my Teriyaki Chicken Breast! The chicken had a nice light char to it, but what really made it taste so great was the Teri Sauce! Ummmmmmmmm! Under my chicken breast was a small bed of lettuce. Now to explain about my fries.............I don't know what I was thinking in getting the fries with my meal, but I guess I was just in the mood to eat something nasty! Lol! As good as my fries were, I regret not taking the brown rice with my meal, as I think the rice would have matched my meal better. I can totally imagine if I got some of that delicious teri sauce on the rice.............Ummmmmmmmm! As for my friend's Grilled Ahi meal? This was da Winnah's!!!! If you look at his plate, you can see they seared his Ahi to perfection!!! It came with a sauce which complimented his Ahi meal perfectly! He raved over his meal, and I was lucky enough to try some of his fish............only to be envious of him for making a great choice! Shucks, should have done fish instead! Lol! They DO NOT offer water at the fountain; you have to get a bottle. I ordered the beef teriyaki. So freakin yum. You cannot substitute, so I got "special" fries with mine, which meant they added wasabi mayo and garlic seasonings. Still so yum, but $2 extra. They have photos right up on the ordering counter to make it easier on everyone. Meals come with fries or rice; you choose. My group ordered beef, tofu and chicken teriyaki and LOVED every bite! What a gem in the Kihei towns of Maui. My family and I were staying at one of the local resorts and wanted something local to eat. I am glad that we were able to stumble on this amazing establishment. It was exactly what we wanted. Vibe: Looked like a fish market and seating was all outside. Simply decor and not flashy at. Its fried chicken pieces breaded by mochiko flour (rice flour) served over white or brown rice topped with teriyaki sauce. The chicken remained crispy and the teriyaki was great. Shrimp Tacos- Order of 3. Big tacos stuffed with large fresh shrimp. What seems to be the spicy tarter sauce that is served over the topped balances the taco and ties in the slaw. Volcano Fries- Used fresh potatoes that remained crispy even though it was to go. The spice they used was not overly spicy and had a hint of sweetness. Highly recommended to be paired with the tacos or sandwhich. Mac Salad: Homemade and absolutely delicious. Traditional mac salad without an overkill of mayo or unnecessary ingredients (i.e. raisins, pineapple, etc.) Again, what a gem. If you're in Kihei or Wailea, give them a try; you won't regret it. This place is still amazing. I left a review a few years ago, just dropping another follow up. They've renovated the space a bit, but the vibe and outdoor seating is still super solid. Enjoyed my meal outside on the patio. Food remains absolutely fantastic. I've consistently gotten perfectly fried, crispy, and delicious mochiko chicken thigh -- this visit was no exception. Had a nice chat with the gentlemen working there as well (im terrible with names but I think it was Byron and Mike?) -- they were friendly, courteous, and gave me a genuine Maui welcome. There's a lot to do on the island, but visiting this place and chatting up the staff is always top of my list. Came here for a local lunch after an morning on the beach. The location is very convenient and parking was surprisingly easy at 2PM. It was slow and our order of fish'n'chips with catfish and teriyaki chicken came out quickly. The fried fish was great, the fish was soft and the batter was very well seasoned and fried just the right amount (not too hard) and the fries were good as well.
