I was curious when I heard about a place that did southern bbq. So I decided to check it out The place is pretty cute with a couple tables in the back. I like the little patio vibe. The owners were nice and helpful when asking about their different briskets. I went and got three items the brisket plate that comes with corn and mash potatoes, the ribs, and Thai tea. The Thai tea nice and sweet. Then the brisket nice and tender the corn was also good and seasoned. Really like the garlic mash. Wasn't big on the sauce that came with it. And the ribs were good not fall of the bone but very easy to pull off the bone. Overall pretty good place for some bbq read more

I had the bordelaise brisket it was good. Super tender and perfectly seasoned. I got it with the mashed potatoes and corn. I saw another review by "Hi L??" who Said the mashed potatoes were from the box??? Sorry my friend if you never had real mashed potatoes. These were definitely NOT box potatoes. Mine had pieces of potatoes in it again nicely seasoned and the corn was also seasoned well. Again another comment by this Hi L??? Said had to use kiosk??? it looked more like an option then a forced to. I guess you have never been to My Thai Maui now that is forced to use internet to order and use credit or debit card only. So they may have been talking about another place. My hubby got this huge sando extra sloppy and he was impressed by the size but not really a sweet bbq kinda guy. I told him to order the brisket next time. They had a nice outdoor patio which we did not notice till we were finished eating we ate in the front. Friendly staff and good food. Looking forward to coming to try out their ribs which is how I ended up here in the first place, but did not order as the brisket caught my eye. I meant to write this review when I first had the meal, but it was so damn good that I completely lost all train of thought . This spot is literally a hole in the wall -- technically a hole in the corner in Wailuku -- and easily one of the best soul, love-filled restaurants on Maui. Yes, it's a new location and fairly small, no fancy advertising, just humble beginnings -- but trust me, this restaurant knows what the fuck they're doing. My wife was absolutely blown away with every bite of the slow-cooked brisket and her favorite mac & cheese. I personally can't wait to try the peppered steak and dirty rice (my friends won't stop posting about it), but since I'm on a meal prep, that'll have to wait . For the first time, my wife had nothing but great things to say -- and as locals born and raised here, that says a lot. We don't always get satisfied, and that's okay, but this place... this is the pinnacle. One of the best ideas to ever venture out to Maui. So since the owner suggested for us to give them another try, we did. This time I took photos to show I did go to the right restaurant with a kiosk present. As we walked in the chef/owner was just finishing up with another customer so he was there for us to actually ask questions. We were told to order through the kiosk. It was easy to use, but after we put our order in, we were curious to how we would pay with cash. It took about a minute or two for the owner to come back out to check on us and we told him we placed our order in, but will pay with cash. He took our cash for payment. The kiosk system doesn't make sense to me since you still need a live person to pay cash with. It is not an efficient system. Food: We ordered 1 Double Rib Plate which came with corn on a cob and Jasmine rice (you could pay extra for "Dirty Rice"). Plate cost $13 as is. Double rib is literally 2 ribs. The meat fell off the bone, but it was bland compared to other bbq ribs I've had. Jasmine rice was dry and corn on a cob was nothing special. We ordered 1 Bordelaise Brisket Plate which came with corn on a cob and we substituted the Jasmine rice for garlic mash potatoes (additional $2). Plate cost $25 with the substitution. Brisket also lacked flavor even with the additional bordelaise sauce which seemed watered down. Garlic mash potatoes had no garlic flavor or any flavor at all. I wouldn't doubt they can make their own mash potato, but this just gave me the feeling of box mash potato. The mash potatoes wasn't fluffy or creamy, it had a more soupy texture. I really love a good mash potato and this left me very disappointed. The corn on the cob with this plate was sitting in water which was unappealing. The corn the cob had no butter or seasoning, just plain corn on a cob. Ambiance/ service: Small building with a few parking stalls (may be shared parking with the other business next door). Inside was warm even with the fan on, there is a AC unit but it wasn't on. The owner was going in and out of the kitchen to explain to us what he plans to do/ renovate. Him being the only cook and person there, I would think he'd be busy making our order first before chit chatting. Total time took 20 minutes, which could have been possibly faster if he wasn't going in and out to talk to us about his plans which we didn't ask about. I appreciate him trying to make an effort to talk, but it also shows no urgency to get my order out. Inside needs at least a bench to sit and wait on, or a few chairs. I can't really say much about the outdoor seating area since we didn't go there. Overall, the price for the portion and quality wasn't worth it. I am all for supporting local small businesses, but when the price doesn't meet the quality or service, then the support goes away. I did read previous good reviews about this place when they first opened and wanted to like it, but it was underwhelming. Not sure if it would have been better if we did Ala carte instead. It was a big miss on the Southern style food. We felt sick after eating and had to have a cup of green tea. We will not be going back. It seems like they still need a lot to figure out even after being open a few months. read more

What an absolute gem! The food at Pinnacle Maui is delicious -- my husband had the Big Bruddah Sandwich and I had the Panino Brisket Plate, and my goodness, we loved every single bite! The brisket was so tender and the mashed potatoes are a dream!!! Best mashed potatoes I've ever had, no joke! The sandwich hit the spot as well, it's super filling so order it on an empty stomach and you won't regret it! You can truly feel the love and care that goes into their cooking and service. This is a small, family-owned business, and Ploy and her husband are so welcoming, kind, and an absolute pleasure to talk with. Their hospitality made our meal even more special. Lick your screen!!! The brisket and ribs were seasoned well and cooked to perfection. It was so tender! It's really hard to find a restaurant that makes melt in your mouth brisket here on Maui but we can finally stop searching. Unfortunately, the corn bread was a little dry to my liking and so was the mac and cheese. But to each their own. It just wasn't for me. They have a couple of tables and chairs in the front of their restaurant if you would like to sit and eat there. The service was quick. I called it in at 7:00 pm and they said it should be done in 20 minutes and it was. All in all that brisket and ribs will have me going back to Pinnacle for more! Well done!! read more

Fantastic food that tastes gourmet and homemade at the same time, run by the nicest husband and wife team. They have a bean and quinoa chilli that you can request vegan! There's outdoor tables in the back as well as some smaller seating available right by the entrance. Parking is easy. The outdoor tables have a fence and hibiscus surrounding it, so it feels secluded from my road. You order inside and grab a table outside. Service is always friendly. Great place! read more

Ordered the double ribs and paniolo brisket. Ribs were decent but 13 dollars for 2 ribs when you can get a full rack at Costco for 26$ is a little disappointing. Brisket was tender but had very little taste. Dipping sauce was bland and oily. Cornbread was hard and dry even with the tub of butter it came with. Macaroni and cheese was the best part of the meal. A family owned bbq chicken and ribs place that just opened 2 weeks ago.Just 7 minutes northwest of airport. So good I got to figure out how to get back to Maui. Moist chicken with excellent rub of seasoning and spices . The chef is an mastermind of the spices. He came out and asked how we did and I said "dude you knocked it put of the park! Bam!" The ribs are big and meaty plus tender. Bbq sauce is available and delicious too. I said what do you use on that rub he said paprika, garlic,oregano Thyme, rosemary and so many more I thought he had more then cornel sanders. Chicken moist and cooked perfectly. Chef goes on to tell me he sneaks a few wood chips in the oven for added flavor! A genius craftsman of the bbq.They have a cute courtyard but only a few tables if your lucky. When I set foot in this door it took me back to the 2004 days when this used to be a bbq joint. It is now a new bbq joint and I'm glad it's here to stay. Joel seasons and bbq his meet to perfection. My kids didn't share the Mac and cheese with me. The dirty rice, chicken leg and the ribs were all solid choices. One thing that comes with bbq is the price tag. This is a reasonable place that I was able to feed 3-4 people just under 70$. That's a great deal with everything inflated nowadays. Give this place a try you won't regret it. read more
