I meant to write this review when I first had the meal, but it was so damn good that I completely lost all train of thought . This spot is literally a hole in the wall -- technically a hole in the corner in Wailuku -- and easily one of the best soul, love-filled restaurants on Maui. Yes, it's a new location and fairly small, no fancy advertising, just humble beginnings -- but trust me, this restaurant knows what the fuck they're doing. My wife was absolutely blown away with every bite of the slow-cooked brisket and her favorite mac & cheese. I personally can't wait to try the peppered steak and dirty rice (my friends won't stop posting about it), but since I'm on a meal prep, that'll have to wait . For the first time, my wife had nothing but great things to say -- and as locals born and raised here, that says a lot. We don't always get satisfied, and that's okay, but this place... this is the pinnacle. One of the best ideas to ever venture out to Maui. To this husband-and-wife duo -- please keep doing your thing. Continue serving with love and filling the community with your incredible food. We'll definitely be back.

This place just absolutely crushed it. The ribs, my god those ribs best on Maui by far and I've been everywhere. Mac and cheese perfect not overwhelming just really Nice. I've been waiting to find a place like this, highly recommend Pinnacle she's is a heater

Brisket, Baby back ribs, corn on the cob and homemade mashed potatoes

We have been on the hunt for great ribs and brisket. Mahalo The Pinnacle for serving up authentic, fall off the bone ribs and super tender brisket! Friendly, quick service and delicious food always makes for a great dinner. EVERYTHING and I mean everything on our plate was finger licking good and made with love. Inside was small but very clean.

Top corner is what my corn on the cob was sitting in.

So since the owner suggested for us to give them another try, we did. This time I took photos to show I did go to the right restaurant with a kiosk present. As we walked in the chef/owner was just finishing up with another customer so he was there for us to actually ask questions. We were told to order through the kiosk. It was easy to use, but after we put our order in, we were curious to how we would pay with cash. It took about a minute or two for the owner to come back out to check on us and we told him we placed our order in, but will pay with cash. He took our cash for payment. The kiosk system doesn't make sense to me since you still need a live person to pay cash with. It is not an efficient system. Food: We ordered 1 Double Rib Plate which came with corn on a cob and Jasmine rice (you could pay extra for "Dirty Rice"). Plate cost $13 as is. Double rib is literally 2 ribs. The meat fell off the bone, but it was bland compared to other bbq ribs I've had. Jasmine rice was dry and corn on a cob was nothing special. We ordered 1 Bordelaise Brisket Plate which came with corn on a cob and we substituted the Jasmine rice for garlic mash potatoes (additional $2). Plate cost $25 with the substitution. Brisket also lacked flavor even with the additional bordelaise sauce which seemed watered down. Garlic mash potatoes had no garlic flavor or any flavor at all. I wouldn't doubt they can make their own mash potato, but this just gave me the feeling of box mash potato. The mash potatoes wasn't fluffy or creamy, it had a more soupy texture. I really love a good mash potato and this left me very disappointed. The corn on the cob with this plate was sitting in water which was unappealing. The corn the cob had no butter or seasoning, just plain corn on a cob. Ambiance/ service: Small building with a few parking stalls (may be shared parking with the other business next door). Inside was warm even with the fan on, there is a AC unit but it wasn't on. The owner was going in and out of the kitchen to explain to us what he plans to do/ renovate. Him being the only cook and person there, I would think he'd be busy making our order first before chit chatting. Total time took 20 minutes, which could have been possibly faster if he wasn't going in and out to talk to us about his plans which we didn't ask about. I appreciate him trying to make an effort to talk, but it also shows no urgency to get my order out. Inside needs at least a bench to sit and wait on, or a few chairs. I can't really say much about the outdoor seating area since we didn't go there. Overall, the price for the portion and quality wasn't worth it. I am all for supporting local small businesses, but when the price doesn't meet the quality or service, then the support goes away. I did read previous good reviews about this place when they first opened and wanted to like it, but it was underwhelming. Not sure if it would have been better if we did Ala carte instead. It was a big miss on the Southern style food. We felt sick after eating and had to have a cup of green tea. We will not be going back. It seems like they still need a lot to figure out even after being open a few months.

What an absolute gem! The food at Pinnacle Maui is delicious -- my husband had the Big Bruddah Sandwich and I had the Panino Brisket Plate, and my goodness, we loved every single bite! The brisket was so tender and the mashed potatoes are a dream!!! Best mashed potatoes I've ever had, no joke! The sandwich hit the spot as well, it's super filling so order it on an empty stomach and you won't regret it! You can truly feel the love and care that goes into their cooking and service. This is a small, family-owned business, and Ploy and her husband are so welcoming, kind, and an absolute pleasure to talk with. Their hospitality made our meal even more special. We can't wait to come back and highly recommend supporting this amazing local spot!

Brisket with rice and corn, ribs with rice and corn, cornbread with whipped butter, and mac and cheese.

Lick your screen!!! The brisket and ribs were seasoned well and cooked to perfection. It was so tender! It's really hard to find a restaurant that makes melt in your mouth brisket here on Maui but we can finally stop searching. Unfortunately, the corn bread was a little dry to my liking and so was the mac and cheese. But to each their own. It just wasn't for me. They have a couple of tables and chairs in the front of their restaurant if you would like to sit and eat there. The service was quick. I called it in at 7:00 pm and they said it should be done in 20 minutes and it was. All in all that brisket and ribs will have me going back to Pinnacle for more! Well done!!

Good meat and great sides. Service was great as well, staff was very friendly. Worth coming back for

The Pinnacle!! Oh my goodness SO AMAZING. One of THE BEST ribs I've had on Maui. The meat easily falls off so easy to eat, especially with their BBQ sauce (hint of spice). Their Mac and cheese is very cheesy and flavorful. The husband and wife are so sweet and nice. I recommend anyone to try this! 10/10 for sure

Looking for a kid and family friendly Restaurant with Local and Filipino Cuisine? Look no further…read moreand head to Tante's Island Cuisine in the heart of Kahului at the Maui Seaside Hotel. Our Ohana and family friends have been eating here for years. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. If you're looking for a place to have a small gathering or celebration, they do catering and had a small party near our table (we were told to be quiet during a prayer for that party which we respectfully did). Our family of 7 ordered a variety of food. My nephew is Vegan and there was a Veggie Stir Fry he ordered with Tofu. My Brother in Law who is on the pickier side and likes it "simple" got Beef Teriyaki with Macaroni Salad. And my mom and niece love their Filipino food so mom ordered a Tamarind Soup with Shrimp and Vegetables called Sinigang and my niece ordered a Peanut Sauce dish called Kare Kare. My dad, sister and I stick to our favorites. He got his usual Baby Back Ribs (which I didn't get to picture), my sister got Sautéed Mahi Mahi with Lemon Caper Sauce and I got my usual Local Favorites Combo that had the most tender and savory Beef Teriyaki and crispy Mahi Mahi with Tartar Sauce on a bed of Cabbage. The Molokai Sweet Potato is a must when you get a side but this time, I did crave some greens so I opted for a side salad with Papaya Dressing. Your Meal isn't complete without Dessert! And Filipino Ice Dessert I might add...Halo Halo (which literally translates to "mix mix"). Being the true Fil-American that I am, I don't like to "Mix Mix" because I prefer my Ube Ice Cream in tact lol. I explained this to my Brother in Law from the Mainland who also said this is the first Purple anything he's ever eaten haha! But this is a refreshing ice dessert to end the meal since it has fresh cantaloupe, avocado, coconut, banana, and jellies, and the ice is creamy with an evaporated and condensed milk mix. If you want to "mix mix" let your inner Filipino out! Our visiting family had a great time catching up and enjoyed our yummy meal together. The Filipino aunty servers are always top notch and serve your food with Aloha. We probably only waited 15 minutes or so for the food as well which is always appreciated especially when hungry.

Super crispy bits, amazing flavor, served over garlic noodles...man alive, if you are in Maui and don't grab takeout here, you may as well not go to Maui. It is takeout only and my wife didn't want fried food so she ordered something from the Mexican joint across the parking lot. Left me talking there while she was picking up the phone instead of putting them on hold, took forever to take that order and then my order on top of that she took it wrong and I was really angry because I paid $20 for a lousy tiny plate with rice and beans full of rice and beans it was supposed to come with two Chile rellenos. I sat down and waited, she calls my order 3 times. I mean I don't have wings to fly, I was getting up to get it, apparently it was not fast enough for her. I had to say coming, that was ridiculous so I bring the plate to my table and start eating, and I only had gotten one chiller relleno instead of 2, mind you It was super tiny. They use Anaheim peppers, cheating the customers because chiles rellenos are made with poblano peppers . John, the owner has gone crazy and doesn't know what else to do to cut corners, but this has gotten absolutely ridiculous. I have friends that have been going there, and myself included for decades, but we are not gonna patronize this Place any longer ever again. Amigos still gives free salsa, they are better as far as portions. The only thing I hate is that they tack on a 20% tip. Stay away from this place do not fall for the trap. They have a Kihei location near my home but this Kahului location is where I usually frequent after work and they offer great daily specials throughout the week. I usually will get myself a refreshing glass of Horchata. This Cinnamon Rice Drink goes perfect with any Mexican dish to relieve that spice. I will most likely stick to a top 5- Ala Carte Taco (if you visit on Mondays, Tacos are $3.95!), Chicken Tortilla Soup, Caldo De Res (not pictured- Mexican Beef Soup with Potatoes and Carrots), Chicken Quesadilla with sour cream and guacamole on the side and Chorizo Con Huevos (Mexican Pork Sausage with Eggs). I have friends that are Regulars here and they usually get their Birria Tacos or Burritos and they love it! Unfortunately I got Chorizo Con Huevos on this last meal and the Chorizo & Eggs was very over done. (I should've said something but I was hungry). But the plate does come with your choice of Flour or Corn Tortillas and the most fluffiest Rice and Creamy Beans. I rated a 4 because mostly everything else I've ordered has been great and the service is always good even when they're pretty busy. They told me they would give me a full refund when I called the night before but as of today because I didn't bring the food back immediately when I got there they chose to treat me like Im an asshole for wanting my money back and said they'll give me 4.50 cuz it was in the rice. I threw the food out after I took the picture and made my own food. Im the sole parent of two small children so I communicated that I couldn't make it back that night. Not I wouldn't, I couldn't because bedtime routine and school is important. They never communicated that I will not be refunded the same if I didn't come back immediately. There's no way they are taking proper health precautions if there was a hair deep in the rice and if they are then it was intentionally put in my food. I wasn't rude or upset to begin with. They made me wait outside for like ten minutes while the front desk girl went to talk to someone and saw the bartender laughing about it and everyone looking at me and talking. You could have made a happy customer and just taken accountability or offer me a drink or a voucher or something but you chose to be disrespectful and offer me 4.50 so yeah I got upset and asked to speak to the manager cuz that's wrong and she lied and said they weren't in after just telling me they were. As the sole parent i dont get to make a lot of money on my own to eat out and that was supposed to be a special thing for us, and your lack of hospitality was a horrible experience for me and I didn't get to eat the food I bought. It's the principle. I've worked in customer service for years and what you did wasn't right. Your manager refused to speak to me and made the front desk girl lie to avoid the issue and made her handle it. I mentioned the health department because how would a hair get in there if you take all proper health precautions? And I said how do I know you are all washing your hands, wearing gloves, and hairnets when there's a hair in the food? Front desk girl then said the manager can hear everything from the camera yet still refused to handle it themselves so no you don't take care of your employees or stand behind them, you let her deal with the angry customer alone while you watched from your desk. Valid crash out on my part.
