Mavida has done my best friends hair for years. They are spot on and do great color as well as cut. I would definetly check them out.

CUSTOMER BEWARE! On April 7th, 2012, I redeemed a Groupon for a 3 month Keratin Treatment using the La Brasiliana product. About 6-7 weeks later, my hair started to get the "fuzzies" so I called the salon (5/12) and spoke to the owner. The owner informed me that I could go up to the salon and she would take a look at my hair but that there was really "nuttin" that she could do about it because the treatment worked when they had initially done it in the salon. I explained to her that I have had numerous keratin treatments using Coppola and Advantage in the past and all have lasted 3-6 months! Also, that 6-7 weeks was not equivalent to 3 months. Needless to say nothing was resolved that day. Therefore, I decided to contact La Brasiliana directly to see if the length of duration was common. However, their response from the distributor was that it was dependent on my hair, health, yada, yada, yada... The distributor basically sent me back to the salon owner and would not vouch for the product. Please note that thankfully I am in a healthy state (thankfully!) and my hair is not coarse but just gets the "fuzzies" hence the reason why I get the treatments done to decrease the time to get my hair done. Additionally, I always wash my hair with the Coppola shampoo and conditioner to ensure that the treatment lasts as long as possible. My gut tells me that I was given the 1 month treatment that they were also selling in Groupon but it can very well be that the product does not perform as advertised. I hope that I was just the one person that got the bad deal! But be cautious because even thought the owner claimed that she tried to make things right, she really didn't because she thinks that there was no discrepancy between 6-7 weeks and 3 months! The only bright spot is that GROUPON was fabulous! They graciously gave me the difference between the 1 month treatment and the 3 month treatment. read more

HORRIBLE customer service! I went to this salon about a month ago for a Keratin Treatment that I purchased through Groupon. Having been to the salon before for a regular haircut, I found the place to be decent enough for the price and didn't hesitate to purchase another Groupon deal with them. When I went for the Keratin Treatment, the service wasn't bad, but the follow up, was AWFUL. I called three weeks after I got the treatment to notify them that my hair went back to normal, being frizzy, when I was told it would last me 4-6 months like the prior Keratin treatments I had done. They give me an appointment to go in for them to check it out and if so, would redo. I have hope that they could fix this problem, and my money would not have been wasted. When I arrive, however, the owner Cheryl, calls me from the waiting area :you're the girl that complained about the keratin come here." I went and loudly she continued to speak down to me telling me it's my fault my product didn't last. She, along with her employee that did the treatment SWORE it was posted on Groupon and that they notified me i cant go into the pool or ocean water with the product, if not it'll come out. NEVER in all my years of doing this was that a problem. Long story short, they refused to work with me and sent me out of the store. Point is. The deal may be great, but if they are not putting the customer first, who is spending good money, then they don't deserve my service. I purchased a Groupon and called to make an appointment. They managed to squeeze me in for that day which was very nice and accommodating. However, I just felt like there was no organization and professionalism was lacking. I honestly don't care for the way my hair turned out, it looks like tiger stripes. I was at the salon for 3 plus hours. She had to go back and fix the color on the one side of my head and if I didn't open my mouth my hair would have been unevenly cut on the bottom. HIJABI REVIEW: I've been here twice for hair cuts and a keratin treatment. Ive worked with the owner Cheryl both times. I wear a scarf/hijab for religious reasons and she is totally accommodating and takes me to a back room and gives me the privacy needed to get the job done. Saw Groupon ad for cut,condition,and highlights...went to place to see if they had availability. Two men were working and they were not very friendly...although they did have availability 3 hours later which was cool and said they would honor Groupon but didn't have to buy it thru website. Anyway..I asked if my hair needed color or highlights and it was like the guy didn't know about hair...he said talk to the girl when she gets in...and he actually scribbled on appt book instead of writing what I was thinking about getting done. So that made me hesitant...came back 15 minutes before appt and enteted..Noone acknowledged I was even there...lunch was being delivered from a girl w purple hair...I was afraid that was also the person doing hair...I looked around at women and saw one stylist w grey roots and another one a little older chatting away....I didn't like the appearance so I got out of there...also seems like more of a barber shop...the woman called and apologized to me saying she saw me sitting there..never again..no tks..get your attitude and act togethet read more

If I could give this place 10 Stars I would. I have been seeing Melissa for years she's always attentive and since I never know what I want she's extremely patient. On my most recent visit I wanted to put in my "usual" fall highlights but unfortunately the company that produces the colors that I love discontinued them. Found this place via Living Social. I was welcomed warmly, it was a super friendly environment. The owner applied my keratin treatment and washed my hair herself. She sniffed my hair after the first wash to be sure it was free of perfumy scent. She felt it wasn't squeaky clean enough, so she brought me back to the sink for another vigorous, beautiful massagy wash. Awesome. She applied the keratin pretty fast, or our banter was so good it seemed so quick, not sure which. After treatment was flat ironed and done, she noticed my ends were split being that I hadn't had a haircut in a long while. She dry cut my bangs a bit and the back. I said you just can't leave without me looking perfect, Hunh? She agreed, I said I'd be happy to compensate her, she refused. I can't wait to have her do me a real cut. I'm a long-time customer of Katie Van Hook's from Mavida Salon. I've had only the most positive experiences here. As a matter of fact, I love it at Mavida so much that I drive a half hour for color, cuts, and eyebrow waxing, when I could very easily go to one of the salons local to me. Everyone here is welcoming, like I'm one of the family. Katie takes care of me, my picky teenage daughter, my mother, and my sister. Never a bad experience had by any of us. Katie has come in for me on days off if I was in desperate need of color, and the one time she couldn't come in for my daughter's graduation hairdo, she hooked us up with Melissa Santos who was such a pleasure and made my daughter's hair gorgeous for her special day. I would never consider going anywhere else. The owner, Cheryl, keeps coffee and cookies on hand, and we are always offered a cup of coffee and snack by Shattara, the woman who washes hair with expertise and a smile. Everything is clean; that's so important to me. On one visit, I got a flat tire on the way in. Thanks to Katie and Tom, another stylist, they helped me successfully get to a local garage to fix up my car. Above and beyond the call of duty! I've never seen an unhappy customer here, and as a matter of fact, during my last visit, I watched as Cheryl worked on a teenager that came in very upset with her color from another salon. Cheryl saved her hair, and the day! Not enough can be said about Katie. She is a professional stylist, an amazing colorist, and my hair always comes out beyond my expectations. Love her. I honestly hate giving bad reviews but with this one I have to. When I went, I believe the lady who did my hair was named Peggy or Patty. The point is that my hair was super frizzy and puffy when she finished my blowout. It was so bad I asked if I could borrow their straightener so that I could at least leave without looking completely ridiculous. She wanted to charge me extra for that! I went to run an errand immediately after and asked a woman in front of me in line if it looked like I had gotten my hair done. She said, "no... Why? Did you just get it done?" When I told her I had, she said, "wow girl. And you paid??" Needless to say it wasn't a pretty sight. It may have been an off day for the lady so I don't want to be harsh. This place is the WORST !!! I went there when they first had the groupon last year .around this time ! the owner couldnt do my hair so did it with another girl . I have done about 4keratin treatments previously never had a issue ! When the girl started the process i notice she dint blowdry my hair the proper way also when she was doing the flat iron my hair was hard and frizzy !! I told the owner that she's not doing it the right way ! She kept insisting that it was the correct way ! I told her that this is not my first time something is not right ! Then she said once i wash it will be fine ! I left there not happy at all... I couldnt even wait to wash it, i had to wash it the next day ! Because my scalp was so itchy ! and flaky !!! mind you i had never ever !! had any issues with my scalp !! My scalp was dry ! Flaky !! For months ! Not only that my hair started falling i ve lost half of my hair due to this treatment i got done at this place !!!! I had to go to a dermatologist so they prescribe me something !!! They burn my scalp !!! I called the owner and told her what was going on she told me she cant do anythinh how does she know it was the treatment, i told her this happened to me right after , her anwser was ohhh maybe you were allegic to the treatment !!! I called groupon told them what happened and i got my money back i wish i had never gone to that place !!!!!! Horrible service, once we walked through the doors they did not greet I had to go and introduce myself. Finally I got to my seat and they was suppose to do a single process color on my hair and she put it only on the roots and said for a full head I will charge you an extra $20. So she does the full head after I argued that I wanted my whole head not only my roots, then when it was time to wash she washed my hair and let me sit under the dryer the dryer finished for about 20 minutes I waited and she was not attending to me. Finally she got me to the seat to get a hair cut and it didn't seem like she even did anything. Finally she let me leave with my hair wet she did not even bother styling or blow drying. I called Sunday at 1030 am and asked how much was a blow out and if it was possible to do same day. The person who answered the phone was very very pleasant (which later I found out was the owner) She told me to come in at 11am to have blow out done by Melissa. I was a few minutes late and when I walked in everyone was so pleasant. Melissa did an amazing job on my hair..She was so easy to talk to she listened to how I wanted it done and even answered my questions about my daughter hair..I HIGHLY recommend Mavida Salon. I went to the salon today to get the keratin treatment done that I redeemed off groupon. I was a little hesitant at first to keep my appointment once I read the reviews below about this place, but don't let that mislead you. This place was great! The staff was really friendly, and the lady who attended to my hair [Pattie] was absolutely amazing. She held a conversation, did an amazing job on my hair, and made me feel extremely comfortable. It amazes me that what I read below about this place was a complete 180. They were busy, but they were very polite to their customers about the weight time & couldn't stress their apologizes enough. My mother nor myself has ever gone to this salon (we are new to the neighborhood.) After reading the reviews and researching other salons in the area I decided to try this place out. I bought a Groupon for my mother to have her hair done (deep conditioning, full highlights and blow) and scheduled a time and date last minute (May 24th the Sunday before Memorial day) and they were able to accommodate her into the schedule (THANK YOU) I told my mother she should ask for Melissa as there were many good reviews on her colorist skills. Unfortunately she wasn't there on this day. My mother had her hair done with Sophia and she couldn't have been happier! Her highlights were done GREAT! Before coming here she had gone to "E Clips" and they did and "OK" job. But Sophia definitely knew what she was doing and did an amazing job, My mother will continue to have her hair touched up here! Over all the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The salon was nice and clean. My mother is very picky and I couldn't have been more pleased sending her here as a birthday gift for her surprise party! Thank you once again! read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. TERRIBLE experience!! I dont know from where to start!! Worst customer service ever, so rude, so unprofessional, Racist!! i had 2 Keratin treatment Groupon Deals for both me and my mom. my mom went for her appointment last Saturday and she was done in an hour "which is not normal cuz the keratin process takes up to 2 hrs"!! she washed her hair after 24 hrs of her treatment like she was told and it looked the same as if she had not done any treatment to her hair!! i called the salon and i scheduled an appointment to re do her keratin, Melissa was helping me out with that. then the owner Cheryl called me being all rude and raising her voice at me! blaming my mom for her bad hair just because she put a scarf on her hair when she was leaving the salon!! she didn't tie her hair, she didn't have the scarf on for so long, the weather wasn't crazy hot so her scalp would sweat in the scarf!!! not to mention that she had her scarf on just for religious reason. so after she finished all the blaming, she scheduled another appointment to re do my mom's hair on Monday and she told me to go with mom!! we were there on time and again "Rude, Raising her voice and being nothing but unprofessional and racist!! telling my mom " take that thing of off you hair" (talking about her scarf) and after all that!!!! she claimed that my mom had a relax in her hair and she wont be able to redo the keratin, so she made us come for nothing!!! i am still pissed as i am writing this review, just seeing someone being so rude to my mom like that!!! never going back!!! This place was HORRIBLE!! ... Hands down sketchy and unorganized. I made my appointment TWO weeks before and when I got there they had no idea of my appointment or what services I was there for. I am as there for a cut color condition treatment and blow dry. They had washed and treated my hair before it was colored. Then after addressing the fact that I was there for a color the RUSH BEGAN to quickly blow dry so she could dye it. The experience with the dye was so horrific I have no words. She never sectioned my hair or used clips to hold it up. She applied the dye so fast and rushed I had dye splatter on my cheeks and nose. I understand with dye there is always some dye stain that can occur but this was terrible. I was COVERED IN BLACK DYE. I felt so uncomfortable. My shoulders were soaking wet and the shirt I had worn there was now ruined with dye from my hair not being properly secured up. Then came my HAIR CUT. I HAD very long hair. I emphasized in the beginning I wanted long layers and a face frame just enough length off to get rid of the damaged ends and give it a little more volume. Nothing extreme!!. They next thing I know she butchers it off up to my shoulders. I expressed my concerns and she then said to me that she keep the long layers. And it would be extra $$ for a face frame. If that wasn't enough she began to start HAND DRYING my hair. THATS RIGHT hand drying. Not blow drying it with a round brush to show me my haircut. She began vigorously running her fingers througuh my hair with the blow dryer. And pressing it down against my head flat and blow drying it. I asked her to use the brush so I could see the volume. She then became flustered by me asking her to use the brush and passed it through my hair about 4-5times and my hair cut was done. So thank you for a terrible experience and I am here to warn you to SAVE yourself ladies and don't let a GROUPON Trick you into thinking this is a good idea. It was the worst $80 I ever spent.
